The Oasis reunion tour is spectacular, and somebody who has a unique perspective of it is Matt Shultz, the lead singer of Cage The Elephant. The band are the openers for the North American shows and Shultz spoke about what the experience has been like.

Shultz told Variety said that while he has met the brothers previously, he hasn’t had the chance to get some face-to-face time with them on this tour. He said, “They’re very family-oriented on this tour. I’ve seen some of their kids around, but [Liam and Noel] have been pretty insulated. They’re living a kind of home life on the road, so we haven’t really hung out yet. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to hang.”

He also spoke about being on stage, saying, “The first few moments of walking out on stage are pretty astounding. I went into it thinking the crowd would fill up over time, but the audiences have really shown up early. It’s amazing.”

SNX: Last Week’s Best Sneakers, Feat. The Awake NY Jordan 5, The Latest Nike KD 18 & More!

SNX_Aug_28(1024x450)
Uproxx

Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly round-up of the best sneakers to hit the internet. Well, here we are — the last full month of summer is officially over, the back-to-school sales have begun, and before we know it, we’ll be in the final stretch of 2025’s sneaker season. If you’ve been following this weekly series all year, you’re well aware that 2025 hasn’t been our favorite year due to the lack of drops compared to the last five years.

But we normally narrow our best sneakers end-of-year lists to just 20 entries, so when comparing this year to others, the lack of sneaker drops this year isn’t going to be as apparent. Are we going to care that 2025 wasn’t as eventful as other years when we’re in 2026? Probably not, but we’re still hoping the end of the year will bring some surprises to the table.

We aren’t happy we’re closing the book on August with just seven notable drops, but what is here is capable of being anybody’s favorite release of the summer! Let’s dive into the best sneakers out right now.

New Balance Made in USA 992 Dark Camo

Price: $199.99

We’re still in the doldrums of summer, but we’re starting to get a little hint of the fall season. Case in point, this latest from New Balance, which combines dark forest green tones for an earthy take on the 992. The sneaker features a pig suede and mesh upper with synthetic overlays, reflective accents, and a combination ENCAP and C-Cap midsole.

A great colorway and premium Made in USA construction? Sign us up and bring in the fall season!

The New Balance Made in USA 992 Dark Camo is out now for a retail price of $199.99. Pick up a pair at New Balance.

Brain Dead x Adidas Japan Lo Shadow Brown

Adidas

Price: $140

Made in collaboration with the LA-based street and skatewear brand, Brain Dead, this sneaker features a leather and textile upper with a faux furry-suede flame graphic at the forefoot, distressed laces, graphic insoles, and co-branding. Our favorite detail of the shoe is the way subtle hints of forest green outline the brown and yellow colorway.

The Brain Dead x Adidas Japan Lo Shadow Brown is out now for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair at Adidas.

Cav Empt x Nike Air Max Dn8 Pure Platinum

Nike

Price: $210

Nike has teamed up with the Tokyo-based streetwear brand, Cav Empt, for an outdoorsy take on the new Air Max Dn8. What we love about this collaboration is that the Dn8 is by all accounts, a very futuristic looking shoe, but Cav Empt has brought the design down to Earth by dipping it in a gorp-core aesthetic that reinterprets the design as a utilitarian sneaker.

The sneaker sports a digital camo print with a chilly arctic sheen, embroidered tongue branding, and a bright green and black co-branding on the tongue.

The Cav Empt x Nike Air Max Dn8 Pure Platinum is out now for a retail price of $210. Pick up a pair at Nike.

Nike KD 18 Soft Pearl and Light Iron Ore

Price: $155

Kevin Durant’s latest from Nike is here! The KD 18 Soft Pearl and Light Iron Ore sports a textile upper adorned with suede and a mix of gray tones accented by bright eye-catching orange highlights. The KD18 features an ultra-lightweight build, offering quick play and enhanced breathability. It’s hands down one of the best KD’s to drop ever! A future collector’s item.

The Nike KD 18 Soft Pearl and Light Iron Ore is out now for a retail price of $155. Pick up a pair at Nike.

Women’s Air Jordan 5 Luminous Green and Sail

Nike

Price: $205

The best Jordans to drop all year have been women’s size exclusives. After decades of ignoring its women’s line, over the last few years Nike has been playing catch up delivering some of the best looks and colorways for small-footed sneaker heads, and quite frankly, we’re totally here for it. The AJ-5 Luminous Green and sail sports a leather upper in egg-shell white with muted yellow-green accents, a black midsole, and an icy outsole.

It’s minimal, sure, but the best Jordans often are!

The Women’s Air Jordan 5 Luminous Green and Sail is out now for a retail price of $205. Pick up a pair at Nike.

Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 Black

Nike

Price: $230

Teaming up with skatewear brand Awake NY, this Air Jordan 5 feels tailor-made for New Yorkers. The sneaker sports a deep black leather upper with a speckled sharktooth midsole detail, translucent vents, and Awake’s signature “A” logo cut into the side panel. This sneaker is an exercise in the power of smart color combinations — the way the black, rich blue, and icy outsole combine make this pair a real treat for the eyes.

The Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 Black is out now for a retail price of $230. Pick up a pair at Nike.

Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 White and Laser Crimson

Price: $155

A ‘90s tennis classic returns! The Air Tech Challenge 2 features a mixed real and synthetic leather upper, with a padded foam collar for extra support, retro checked detailing, and a mix of clean white and bright and bold accents over a Max Air unit.

To our eyes, the sneaker looks far more ‘80s influenced, and doesn’t exactly scream ‘90s, but the advanced tech is there. So if you like classic designs but don’t like the lack of comfort and support they provide, this might be the sneaker for you.

The Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 White and Laser Crimson is out now for a retail price of $155. Pick up a pair at Nike.

Rema’s Long-Awaited ‘Kelebu’ Video Is A Vibrant Global Dance Challenge

Last month (almost to the day), Rema released his uninhibited new single, “Kelebu.” The high-energy track lends itself to ecstatic dancing (or just cutting loose), so he held a global dance challenge to find out the best routine that goes with the track, with the winner taking home $10,000.

The winners, dance collective POP Boys, appear in the long-awaited music video, showing off their routine as Rema himself performs with a marching band and the camera captures dynamic displays of exhilarating movement from around his hometown, Lagos.

In the press release, Rema explained the inspiration behind “Kelebu,” saying:

Growing up, I didn’t have a phone to create my music taste, my household had different music tastes, I listened to what everybody played. In school parties, we used to dance to a lot of Caribbean and Francophone bounces. We didn’t care about what they were saying cause most of them were not even in our local language in Nigeria. They just kept repeating one word with a fantastic instrumental to back it up, and we all danced. Making music now, I’m reliving those moments by expressing it with my art.

“Kelebu” follows Rema’s early 2025 releases “Baby (Is It A Crime)” and “Bout U,” suggesting he’s got more on the way.

d4vd Gave Fans A Sneak Peek At His New Song ‘Locked & Loaded,’ The First-Ever ‘Fortnite’ Anthem

Epic Games

Fornite has become nearly ubiquitous in the eight years since its launch, and is extending its growing domination of pop culture with yet another music collaboration. Tomorrow, Fortnite will debut its first-ever official anthem, crafted by one of the game’s biggest fans, d4vd. d4vd shared a snippet of the song, along with illustrated key art, on Instagram, writing: “i started making music for my Fortnite montages 3 years ago man this is crazzzzyyyyyy.”

d4vd is just one of a growing contingent of music’s hottest rising stars to dedicate a ton of their off time to Epic Games’ addictive multiplayer shooter. For instance, Doja Cat has poured hours into the game and even helped affect in-game weapon balancing after an online outburst about an overpowered item. Even Drake jumped on the bandwagon early, helping the game become the juggernaut it is today.

In return, Epic has helped highlight many of these stars, introducing them to a whole new fanbase via the Fortnite Festival, which has hosted a diverse roster including Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, and soon, Gorillaz. Artists like Carpenter and Ice Spice have been turned into in-game characters, and Don Toliver even got his own map and mini-game within its rapidly growing metaverse.

So, d4vd’s the latest in a long line of fans of the game to eventually get to do something within it, but it’s fitting that as such a hardcore fan, he’s the one who gets to launch the next big thing in the form of the official anthem. “Locked & Loaded” drops at 5 PM PT Wednesday, September 3.

Damon Albarn Reckons The ‘Crazy Amount Of Falsetto’ On The First Gorillaz Album Was Aided By ‘The Drugs I Was Taking’

It’s been over two decades now since Gorillaz dropped their self-titled debut album in 2001. Damon Albarn was in a different stage of his life then, and he thinks that some of his extracurricular activities played a role in his vocal range.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Albarn said:

“I can’t quite believe I can still hit the falsetto,” he joked of his voice on the debut album. He continued, “That first record has a crazy amount of falsetto. [It was] definitely… related to the drugs I was taking. I was a much more irresponsible human being. I was hitting some notes I really didn’t think coming back I’d be able to hit again.”

Gorillaz are in the middle of celebrating that and other albums with a series of anniversary shows.

Gorillaz co-creator and artist Jamie Hewlett also said of the project’s future, “For me and Damon, it’s just… it’s fun. We get to do whatever we want to do. Damon gets to make whatever music he wants to make. He’s not in a band anymore, he’s free to experiment.” Summing up the band’s manifesto, he added, “If you have the ideas, then keep moving forward.”

North American pro sports leagues put in a major effort to increase their global footprint. Part of the NFL’s steps there is the first-ever regular season game in Dublin, Ireland, between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park at 2:30 p.m. BST (9:30 a.m. ET).

For the halftime proceedings, they’ve tapped rising British singer-songwriter Myles Smith, it was announced today (September 2).

Smith told Billboard:

“It has been an incredible year for me so far, and now to be on a stage like this is insane. Performing at the first-ever regular NFL season game in Dublin, in such an iconic venue, feels like another major milestone. It’s an honor to be alongside so many other amazing performers, both from Ireland and around the world. I can’t wait to bring my music to such a massive stage and share this experience with those in the stadium and watching around the world.”

Irish singer-songwriter Lyra, who is set to perform Ireland’s national anthem before the game, added, “As an Irish singer, standing at the center of Croke Park, singing in front of my fellow Irish and visitors from around the world, fills me with immense pride. I am deeply grateful to the NFL for giving me the opportunity to represent my homeland at such a momentous occasion. To be part of such an iconic moment, as the NFL makes history with its first regular-season game in Ireland, is an honor I will carry in my heart forever.”

‘Hamnet’: Everything To Know About Chloé Zhao’s New Take On A Shakespeare Classic

HAMNET
Focus Features

William Shakespeare, in case you missed it, wrote a story or two in his day. Works like Romeo And Juliet, Macbeth, and Hamlet have been adapted countless times at this point, but an upcoming take on the latter is different: It’s a fictional imagining of the real-life events that inspired the play.

Chloé Zhao is tasked with bringing this story to the big screen, but she has help from stars Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn, as well as producers Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Steven Spielberg, and Sam Mendes.

Ahead of the movie’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it hits theaters.

Plot

The official description reads, “From Academy Award winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, Hamnet tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet.” The movie is an adaptation of the 2020 historical fiction novel of the same name by Maggie O’Farrell, who co-wrote the movie version with Zhao.

Zhao explained to The Los Angeles Times:

“Maggie’s book laid the foundation, really focusing on Agnes. For the film, I wanted it to be about two people who see and are seen by each other. They’re archetypal characters. I’ve studied Jungian psychology and Hindu Tantra — the energies of masculine and feminine, being and doing, birth and death. If we don’t have a healthy connection to our roots, those forces battle within us. By creating two characters who embody that, the story can work at a collective level and an internal one. The alchemy of creativity lets those forces coexist. Hopefully it becomes something more than a story about marriage or the death of a child.”

Cast

The movie stars Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson, and Joe Alwyn.

Zhao told Vanity Fair of Mescal, “Paul’s performance may be more restrained, but you feel that, without him, there’s no her. Jessie and Paul as two actors were extremely giving to each other in that way.”

Buckley added, “It’s no mean feat to step into the shoes of Shakespeare and to bring so much humanity to him, and that’s what Paul, as a person, threads. He has this greatness about him in an old-school way, like Richard Burton had. He’s got a weight that is bigger than his years, and you can really lean on it. Working with him, I was like, ‘Oh, I want to meet you so many times in my life in different ways and work together.’ It felt so alive. Anything was possible.”

Release Date

The film is set to hit select theaters on November 27, followed by a wide release on December 12.

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

bnm
Getty Image/Derrick Rossignol

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw Sabrina Carpenter launching a new era and Hayley Williams continuing to surprise. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape newsletter.

Sabrina Carpenter — “Tears”

“Manchild” was the only advance single from Carpenter’s new album Man’s Best Friend. Looking at the tracklist, it might seem like “Tears” would be an emotional ballad or something similar. Nope: Carpenter’s singing about fluid, but it’s not coming out of her eyes.

Blood Orange — “Countryside” Feat. Eva Tolkin, Liam Benzvi, and Ian Isiah

Dev Hynes’ first Blood Orange album in seven years, Essex Honey, has arrived at last. He teams up with a handful of collaborators on the ethereal and chill “Countryside.”

DJ Khaled, Post Malone, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again — “Brother”

Malone has taken a slight break from being a full-blown country artist to team up with collaborator supreme DJ Khaled. He, along with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, both appear on the 808- and guitar-led new single “Brother.”

Laufey — “Seems Like Old Times”

Laufey successfully marries vintage and contemporary sounds on her new album, A Matter Of Time. She leans decidedly more intro retro vocal jazz on highlights like “Seems Like Old Times.”

Hayley Williams — “Parachute”

Williams’ bunch of singles that technically weren’t an album technically are an album now, as Williams released Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party last week. She also added “Parachute,” an 18th new song, to the collection.

Skepta and Fred Again.. — “21 Years”

After working on “Victory Lap” and “Back 2 Back,” Skepta and Fred have gone ahead and just dropped an EP together. It compiles the aforementioned songs along with a new one, the bass-rattling “21 Years.”

Alabama Shakes — “Another Life”

There’s been a lot of talk about the Alabama Shakes reunion, and they’ve even been touring. Now, there’s actually new music, as the band unveiled “Another Life,” their first song in over a decade, last week.

Geese — “100 Horses”

We’re less than a month away from Getting Killed, the new album from Geese, and a couple months away from them going on tour. Before all that, though, we have “100 Horses,” which the band calls an “absurdist apocalyptic dance party.”

The Kid Laroi — “She Don’t Need To Know”

Laroi has a bit of a “Stacy’s Mom” situation going on in the video for his new single, “She Don’t Need To Know.” It’s quite the love triangle, grouping him with Anna Van Patten and Carmen Electra.

Yeat — “Comë N Go”

Yeat is restless, as he just dropped Dangerous Summer, his ninth project in five years. Among the new songs is “Comë N Go,” a moody tune that can definitely set a vibe.

JID’s Chilling ‘Community’ Video With Clipse Gives A Gritty Glimpse Of The Hood

Clipse’s stunning resurgence continues with JID in the video for the Atlanta rapper’s new single, “Community.” The album cut from God Does Like Ugly finds the trio recounting their harrowing experiences growing up in overlooked communities, and the video sharply captures those stories, putting faces to names and places.

The unflinching shots of public housing buildings and their residents are contrasted with interior glimpses of a dilapidated, hollowed-out mansion, further highlighting the connection between the highs and the lows, and offering a sizzling undercurrent of survivor’s remorse from the artists.

The rollout for God Does Like Ugly has been sparse — JID only released one other video, for lead single “WRK” — but JID did aim to generate more buzz around it by sharing a preview mixtape just weeks before its release. He shared two videos from GLDU Preluxe: “32” and “Beau.” He also revealed the existence of a joint mixtape with J. Cole, which may or may not see release in the future.

Meanwhile, Clipse has had a stellar 2025, returning after over a decade away with Let God Sort Em Out, their first project since 2009’s Til The Casket Drops. Besides going on their first tour since then, they also reestablished their relevance with collaborations with some of hip-hop’s hottest contemporary hitmakers, including Kendrick Lamar and Tyler The Creator.

Watch JID’s “Community” video with Clipse above.
