Ed Sheeran Once Got So Super High With Snoop Dogg That His Eyes Weren’t Working Right

Snoop Dogg is the sort of figure that even non-smokers would light up with, just to say they’ve smoked weed with Snoop. Ed Sheeran found himself in that situation earlier this year and he discussed it on a new episode of the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast.

Sheeran noted that he was introduced to Snoop through mutual friend Russell Crowe and that the two met backstage after a Sheeran performance in Melbourne, Australia. Sheeran continued (as NME notes), “I don’t really smoke at all, but I was in the dressing room and they were just like blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt. I was like, ‘I guess at some point during the night, I have to, just to say I smoked with Snoop Dogg.’ He was like, ‘Do you want some?’ So I have a bit and I was like, ‘I don’t feel too bad, this is good.’ Then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more. I just remember looking at him and being like, ‘I can’t see right now.’”

Snoop actually shared a brief video of the encounter on Instagram back in March:

Britney Spears Seemingly Indicated She’s Writing A Second Book To Follow Her Upcoming Memoir, ‘The Woman In Me’

Britney Spears’ long-awaited memoir, titled The Woman In Me, is coming soon, with a scheduled release date of October 24. Before that book has even hit shelves, though, it appears Spears is looking ahead: In an Instagram post shared yesterday (October 3), Spears seemingly indicated that she’s already started work on a second part of the book.

Spears shared a video of herself and others on a tropical vacation, flying over blue water and riding horses after they touched down. The post’s caption reads, Riding ‘n writing !!! All I’m doing at the moment … volume 2 coming after 1 !!! #TheWomanInMe.”

The Woman In Me website reads, “In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The Woman In Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey — and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.”

When Will ‘Dumb Money’ Be On Streaming?

It wasn’t that long ago that GameStop terrorized Wall Street. It was late January 2021, and a motley crew of working class investors improbably short-squeezed a bunch of money into the gaming retailer that’s long haunted mails. One thing led to another, and the chain’s overall stock price skyrocketed, making the everyman investors rich while costing establishment investment firms millions. The story is still relatively fresh in the public’s imagination, but when will the film based on it — called Dumb Money, and now in theaters — hit streaming?

The answer, speculates Cosmopolitan, probably won’t be too far off:

Dumb Money comes from Sony Pictures, which signed an exclusive streaming deal with Netflix in 2022. Playing by those rules, the film will eventually land on Netflix, and likely sooner rather than later. If we’re hedging our bets, we’d say you’ll be able to watch this film on your couch by January, if not by year’s end.

Dumb Money stars Paul Dano as Keith Gill, the struggling financial analyst who kicks the mishegoss off, Pete Davidson as his disapproving brother, and Shailene Woodley as Keith’s wife. The supporting cast also includes Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, and Seth Rogen. It’s the latest from director Craig Gillespie, who turned I, Tonya into a playful, fourth wall-breaking look at an incident that once shocked the nation.

Dumb Money is now playing in theaters.

Nikola Jokic Didn’t Have As Much Fun This Summer As He’s Had In The Past Because ‘We Played 2.5 Extra Months’

Nikola Jokic has, for all intents and purposes, wrapped up the title of the best basketball player on the planet. After his efforts to deliver the first NBA title to the Denver Nuggets in franchise history, Jokic put the bed any sort of debate about who is at the top of the mountain right now, and in large part because of his singular brilliance, Denver has a real shot of going back-to-back as champions.

That would mean, for the second year in a row, the Nuggets are playing deep into June, and it sure does not seem like Jokic loves that he has to sacrifice so much time to chill out as part of the pursuit of a ring. While speaking to the press on media day, Jokic was asked if this was the most fun he’s ever had over a summer, and his answer might surprise you.

“No,” Jokic said. “I think it’s actually opposite … Because we played two and a half extra months, and recovery and everything. So, it was good, but I’ve had summers that I’ve had more fun.”

Fourteen other teams in the Western Conference will assuredly hope that they can give Jokic a more fun summer this year. But the really bad news for Jokic is that his summer plans next year will be complicated even further based on the fact that Serbia is heading to the Olympics.

What Time Does Depeche Mode Go On Stage For Their North American Tour?

Earlier this year, Depeche Mode shared their 15th studio album Memento Mori. Now the legendary band is in the midst of bringing that new material to stages everywhere on their Memento Mori Tour.

It’s important to be there when the rockers kick off their set. According to Sortir à Paris, they begin at 8:45 P.M. sharp. Then, they get right into it with “Speak to Me (Outro),” followed by “My Cosmos Is Mine,” and the rest of the amazing setlist that also boasts hits like “Enjoy The Silence” and “Just Can’t Get Enough.”

Last year, Depeche Mode dealt with the tragic death of the keyboard player Andy “Fletch” Fletcher at age 60, which impacted the making of Memento Mori Tour. “We started work on this project early in the pandemic, and its themes were directly inspired by that time,” said founding member Martin Gore. “After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning.” Dave Gahan added, “Fletch would have loved this album. We’re really looking forward to sharing it with you soon, and we can’t wait to present it to you live at the shows next year.”

Troye Sivan Gave An Evocative Performance Of Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’

After starring in HBO’s The Idol, Troye Sivan has been back in the musical spotlight with his forthcoming album Something To Give Each Other. Recent singles “Rush” and “Got Me Started” are building up the hype, and he’s also stopped by the BBC Live Lounge for a new performance.

Along with performing a mellow rendition of “Rush,” Sivan covered Billie Eilish’s sprawling “What Was I Made For” from the Barbie movie soundtrack, which also had artists like Ice Spice, Dua Lipa, and more. Sivan’s vocals are beautiful and evocative as he sings the vulnerable ballad against soft, ethereal piano. He does the song justice; Billie would certainly definitely approve.

About “Rush,” Sivan previously said in a statement, “‘Rush’ is the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dancefloor, a 2-hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party after party after after party. All of my experiences from a chapter where I feel confident, free and liberated. Independent, yet somehow the most connected to the music and community around me.”

Listen to his cover of “What Was I Made For” above.

Something To Give Each Other is out 10/13 via Capitol. Find more information here.

Famed Author Michael Lewis Is Being Torched For His New Book That Many Feel Defends Accused Crypto Fraud Man Sam Bankman-Fried

When the story of Sam Bankman-Fried, the accused crypto fraud man, exploded late last year, there was one upside to the unpleasant affair: Michael Lewis, financial journalist extraordinaire, was already hard at work on a book about him. Surely the author of The Big Short could smell a big, painfully obvious rat who’d bilked investors of millions? Somehow no. His new book is out and the first reviews can’t believe that Lewis fell hook, line, and sinker for a possibly jailbound alleged grifter.

The book is called Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon, and it arrives on shelves at an almost suspiciously convenient time. In his pan for The Los Angeles Times, Michael Hiltzik says it “amounts to a defense brief for Bankman-Fried for his fraud trial in New York federal court, which opens Tuesday — coinciding, as it happens, with the publication date of Lewis’ book.”

Hiltzik does not hold back in condemning Lewis for not condemning his subject, even after his empire crumbled:

Journalism schools will be able to use “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,” Michael Lewis’ new book about the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange and the fall of its boss, Sam Bankman-Fried, as a textbook on the imperative need to approach a subject with a healthy helping of skepticism.

To make a long story short, in this book Lewis doesn’t exercise any.

Hiltzik almost takes sympathy on the once-acclaimed author. “Lewis quite plainly started this book project thinking he could write the definitive foundation story of cryptocurrency as ‘the new new thing,’ to quote the title of one of his earlier books,” he writes. “When the thing collapsed, he was unable to shed his initial enchantment.”

But learning the thesis of one’s book is bunk mid-writing has happened before. Other writers have saved face by writing instead about how they came to see their subject in a new, damning light. Not Lewis, who Hiltzik says “treats Bankman-Fried as sort of an endearing scamp who got in over his head, essentially by an adorable habit of inattention.”

The New York Times wasn’t any kinder. “Lewis, who traveled back and forth from the Bahamas, where Bankman-Fried was based, had, in the months leading up to the disaster, a front-row seat — from which he could apparently see nothing,” writes Jennifer Szalai.

Szalai contends that Lewis may have convinced himself that he wasn’t writing the definitive book on Bankman-Fried:

But this isn’t a book of investigative journalism; this is Lewis’s account of being a fly on the wall — a perspective that’s all well and good when your subject isn’t a billionaire savant who is charged with defrauding people who trusted him. Lewis seems so attached to the protagonist of his narrative that he takes an awful lot in stride.

Both Hiltzik and Szalai instead recommend another, more skeptical tome on the same subject: Number Go Up: Inside Crypto’s Wild Rise and Staggering Fall, by Zeke Faux. Unlike Lewis, Faux didn’t enter the crypto world thinking it was lefit.
“From the beginning,” Faux writes, “I thought that crypto was pretty dumb. And it turned out to be even dumber than I imagined.”

The Los Angeles Times and The New York Times weren’t Lewis’ only critics.

There is one downside to Bankman-Fried facing his likely comeuppance: Had he not been busted he might have rid America of Donald Trump for good.
