Andre Iguodala Announced His Retirement From The NBA

Andre Iguodala has called it a career. Iguodala, a former first-round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers who spent 19 seasons in the league, told Marc Spears of Andscape that the time is right for him to end his decorated career.

“Time started to get limited for me and I didn’t want to put anything in the back seat,” Iguodala said. “I didn’t want to have to try to delegate time anymore. Especially with on the court, off the court with family. A lot. You want to play at a high level. But then family is a lot. My son is 16 and then two girls. So, [I’m] looking forward to seeing them grow up in those important years.”

Iguodala went ninth overall in the 2004 NBA Draft. After spending the first eight years of his career in Philadelphia and earning his lone All-Star berth in 2012, Iguodala was traded to the Denver Nuggets, where he spent one year before deciding to join the Golden State Warriors as a free agent.

While his most productive seasons came in Philadelphia, Iguodala had the most success as a crucial piece of the Warriors’ dynasty in the mid-to-late 2010s. A member of the team’s vaunted “Death Lineup” alongside Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and either Kevin Durant or Harrison Barnes, Iguodala was part of the team that won championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018. His role on the 2015 team earned him an NBA Finals MVP, as he was both productive on offense and tasked with defending LeBron James on defense.

Golden State traded him to Memphis in 2019, he stayed away from the team before they sent him to Miami later that year, and during the 2021 offseason, Iguodala left the Heat to rejoin the Warriors as a free agent. Despite a smaller role than he had previously, Iguodala won a fourth championship with Golden State in 2022.

Miss Minutes Got Dark As Hell In The Latest Episode Of ‘Loki’ And Viewers Don’t Know How To React

After sitting on the sidelines for the first two episodes, Miss Minutes finally made her Loki Season 2 debut, and the adorable little clock is out of her freaking cartoon mind.

The Season 1 finale pulled back the curtain on Miss Minutes (Tara Strong) by revealing that she works for He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and helped him build the Time Variance Authority so he can curate the Sacred Timeline. However, Season 2 Episode 3 dives into deeper into that relationship, and hoo boy. If people thought the Miss Minutes’ jump scare from last season was bad, they ain’t seen nothing yet.

After Miss Minutes summoned Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) to the late 1800s Wisconsin where she drops a TVA guidebook into the window of a young boy’s window, the two jumped ahead 25 years where the boy has grown up to become a con-man/scientist named Victor Timely (Majors). More notably, he’s a variant of He Who Remains, or possibly the actual He Who Remains. It gets real timey-wimey.

Anyway, it becomes clear throughout the episode that Miss Minutes is the jealous type, and she slowly goes off the deep end as Victor seems to be smitten with Renslayer while on a boat to Wisconsin. By playing on his disdain for working with a partner, Miss Minutes is able to convince Victor to toss Renslayer overboard. And that’s when the cartoon clock makes her move.

In one of the most disturbing Marvel scenes ever put on screen, Miss Minutes reveals her undying love for Victor/He Who Remains and literally starts demanding he make her a body, so she can be his “girl.” (She’ll ultimately be clock-blocked by Renslayer, who was not thrilled to be thrown off a boat.) The show really went there, and Loki fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

You can see some of the reactions below:

Loki Season 2 streams new episodes Thursday on Disney+.

Lil Wayne Name-Drops Devin Booker In ‘Phresha,’ His And 2 Chainz’s First Single From ‘Welcome 2 ColleGrove’

2 Chainz and Lil Wayne are true to their word. Earlier this week, Wayne shared on his Discord channel that “Presha” would arrive ahead of his and 2 Chainz’s performance on the October 20 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that night. And earlier in October, 2 Chainz reportedly let it slip, “Me and Wayne’s album drops next month. This is a full-circle moment.” (2 Chainz also told The Source that it would “be coming out before the year’s over with.”)

Right on cue, “Presha” is here this morning (October 20), and Welcome 2 ColleGrove will arrive on November 17. The album’s release date was confirmed via press release, which also relayed, “ColleGrove is a portmanteau of Chainz’s hometown, College Park, Georgia, and Wayne’s hometown, Hollygrove, Louisiana.” Their original ColleGrove collaborative album dropped all the way back in March 2016 — peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

The bar is set high for Welcome 2 ColleGrove from jump in “Presha,” as the single starts with someone yelling, “Yoooo! This sh*t is un-believ-able!” The beat drops — an infectious juxtaposition of high-pitched whistling and thumping bass — and 2 Chainz raps, “Yeah, we cookin’ now / You know this sh*t presha ’cause they lookin’ out / Say, ‘Look out for me,’ but they wasn’t lookin’ out / Got your sh*t together, suki, suki now.”

About halfway through, Lil Wayne hops on the track and delivers his bars in his signature frenetic flow. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Wayne verse without a clever sports reference: “Smokin’ dope, you can smell the boogers / Break your nose like Devin Booker.”

Watch the “Presha” lyric video above.

Welcome 2 ColleGrove is out 11/17 via Def Jam Recordings. Find more information here.

Green Day Teased A 2024 Tour With The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, And The Linda Lindas

Next year is the 30th anniversary of Dookie, Green Day‘s landmark album that has sold over 20 million copies worldwide. It’s not very punk to hand in the assignment before it’s due, but the band got the anniversary festivities started early last night by playing the album in full at a surprise concert in Las Vegas.

Green Day took the stage at the Fremont Country Club to “Soul Bossa Nova,” a.k.a. the Austin Powers theme song, then ripped through Dookie, from opener “Burnout” to hidden track “All By Myself.” The trio also played a handful of deep cuts, including “Warning” (first time since 2001), and fan favorites, like “Letterbomb” and “Stuart And The Ave.”

“It’s not quite the anniversary,” singer Billie Joe Armstrong said, according to Rolling Stone. “The record came out in February 1994, so in October of 1993 we were just scared sh*tless.”

Green Day also teased a 2024 stadium tour with the Smashing Pumpkins (who recently celebrated a milestone of their own with the 30th anniversary of Siamese Dream), Rancid, and the Linda Lindas. No dates were announced, but flyers were handed out at the show.

Green Day is in Las Vegas to headline the punk- and emo-leaning When We Were Young festival on Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22. Other bands on the bill include Blink-182, 5 Seconds Of Summer, and the Offspring.

Jimmy Kimmel Used One Of Trump’s Most Notorious Insults Against Him

Former Donald Trump attorney Sidney “The Kraken” Powell pleaded guilty on Thursday to six misdemeanor charges of conspiracy to commit election interference. She will serve six years in probation, pay $6,000 fine, and most humiliatingly, write an apology letter to Georgia residents.

“Oh man, the Chicken McNuggets are coming home to roost, aren’t they?” host Jimmy Kimmel said following Powell’s sentence on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. “The rats are jumping off the Spraytanic. The big, beautiful walls are closing in and somewhere up there I have to believe John McCain is smiling.”

He added, “You know, he likes people who don’t get caught.”

Kimmel is referring to Trump’s 2015 insult of senator (and father of Megan, in case you hadn’t heard) John McCain. “He’s a war hero because he was captured,” the MAGA “scumbag” said. “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Powell’s legal problems are far from over. CNN reports:

Additionally, Powell is facing massive defamation lawsuits from two voting technology companies, who sued her for falsely accusing them of rigging the 2020 election against Trump. The companies, Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic, filed the lawsuits in 2021, and the cases are still in the pre-trial discovery phase.

You can watch Kimmel’s monologue above.

Indiecast Discusses Bandcamp’s Future, Best Guitarists Lists, And The Rolling Stones

The Fall Albums Fantasy Draft is heating up between Steven and Ian. After Steven jumped out to an early lead, Ian has been slowly creeping up and it’s looking like he might seriously contend for the top spot. After spending way too long hashing that out, the guys move on to a conversation about the recent layoffs at Bandcamp and what this might mean for the future of the beloved online indie retailer. After so many major indie-rock stars have sprung from that platform in the past decade, are we on the verge of a post-Bandcamp future?

From there Steven and Ian talk about Rolling Stone‘s recent list of the best guitarists of all time, and what “best guitarists” lists say about the publications that produce them. Also: Are we now in a post-guitar hero society, where music fans no longer worship displays of instrumental virtuosity? After that, they talk about the new Rolling Stones album, Hackney Diamonds, and Steven presents a theory about why the Stones haven’t translated to younger generations like other classic-rock acts such as Steely Dan and Fleetwood Mac.

In Recommendation Corner, Ian raves about the new Jane Remover album while Steven goes in for rowdy country-rock band Dusk.

Maluma Revealed He’s Going To Be A Father In A Touching On-Stage Moment At His Concert

Maluma performed in Washington DC yesterday (October 19) as part of his Don Juan Tour, and one part of the show was particularly special: The Colombian superstar revealed he’s going to be a father.

On stage, he debuted his new video for “Procura,” which was later released at midnight last night and can be watched above. He watched the clip with his audience and at the end of the visual is footage of him and girlfriend Susana Gomez in the hospital, with the two and their families seeing a sonogram of their unborn child. Maluma was clearly emotional watching the video on stage as his audience loudly cheered behind him.

He teased the big moment ahead of the concert, writing on his Instagram Story (translated via ChatGPT), “Today is one of the most special moments in my life, and I want to share it with you live right here on our Washington show. You’ve been with us from the beginning, and you deserve to know as well.”

Maluma released his latest album, Don Juan, this past August, and it includes collaborations with Marc Anthony, Gordo, Rayvanny, Don Omar, J Balvin, Yandel, Ryan Castro, and Anuel AA. Learn more about the album here.
