Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw Tame Impala unload a new album and Magdalena Bay drop off another pair of unexpected new songs. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape newsletter.

Tame Impala — “My Old Ways”

We now know what “deeply inspired by bush doof culture and the Western Australia rave scene” sounds like, as the new Tame Impala album Deadbeat is out now. The LP is led the opener “My Old Ways,” a piano-led thumper.

Magdalena Bay — “Human Happens”

Magdalena Bay have been clearing out the vaults lately. Last month, they shared a pair of new songs, and last week, they did it again with “Human Happens” and “Paint Me A Picture.”

Ashnikko — “Skin Cleared”

Pop experimenter Ashnikko has unveiled her highly anticipated second album Smoochies and the tracklist is full of highlights. One is “Skin Cleared,” an aggressive synth onslaught that leaves room for Ashnikko’s catchy lyrics to shine through.

Militarie Gun — “God Owes Me Money

God Save The Gun is out now, but before it dropped, the band fired off one more pre-album single. They went with “God Owes Me Money,” a melancholic and guitar-driven track.

Balming Tiger and Yaeji — “Wo Ai Ni”

Yaeji has popped up here and there with new songs this year, and last week, she surfaced with a pair of new collaborations, both with alternative K-pop collective Balming Tiger. “Wo Ai Ni” is a particularly catchy number, with the “I love you, wo ai ni” hook being an instant earworm.

Joji – “Pixelated Kisses”

Joji is somebody who built his brand on the internet. On his new comeback single “Pixelated Kisses,” though, he’s tired of digital interactions and expresses that he’d much prefer the real thing.

Teddy Swims — “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming”

The upcoming second season of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This has been delivering with its soundtrack. There was a new Giveon song earlier this month, and now they’ve tapped Teddy Swims for the soulful “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming.”

Sudan Archives — “A Bug’s Life”

Sudan Archives is ready to dance on her new album, The BPM. She also shared a really slick video for “A Bug’s Life,” which sees her trudging through the desert and dancing in a chrome bodysuit.

This Is Lorelei — “Name Of The Band”

Instead of a whole new album, Nate Amos has dug into his underappreciated archives and re-recorded some of his old tunes for a new collection, Holo Boy. The re-recorded songs from come nine different original releases and were written between 2014 and 2021, and among them is the jaunty “Name Of The Band.”

Fakemink — “Fidelio”

The British rapper and producer had made waves in London’s underground rap scene and he continued the journey last week with “Fidelio.” The track has some eerie strings grounded by an aggressive beat, a combination that keeps the song delightfully on edge.

‘Die My Love’: Everything To Know About Jennifer Lawrence And Robert Pattinson’s Dark Drama

Die My Love top
YouTube

Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay initially had hesitations about working on Die My Love, as she felt it tread similar ground to her 2011 movie We Need To Talk About Kevin. But, Jennifer Lawrence, who stars and produces through her production company Excellent Cadaver, ultimately convinced her to take on the adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel.

The end result was clearly appealing to business types: Mubi ended up securing distribution rights after what was described as a “fevered” bidding war. The star power here doesn’t hurt, as Lawrence stars alongside Robert Pattinson.

Ahead of the movie’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it hits theaters.

Plot

An official description reads:

“The film follows Grace (Lawrence) and her partner Jackson (Pattinson), who have recently moved into an old house deep in the country. With ambitions to write The Great American Novel, Grace settles into her new environment, and the couple welcome a baby soon after. However, with Jackson frequently — and suspiciously — absent, and the pressures of domestic life starting to weigh on her, Grace begins to unravel, leaving a path of destruction in her wake.”

At Cannes earlier this year, Ramsay spoke about how she felt some critics misunderstood the movie, saying, “This whole postpartum thing is just bullsh*t. It’s not about that. It’s about a relationship breaking down, it’s about love breaking down, and sex breaking down after having a baby. And it’s also about a creative block.”

Cast

The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Robert Pattinson, LaKeith Stanfield, Nick Nolte, and Sissy Spacek.

Lawrence spoke about how being a mother played a part in this role, telling Vulture:

“Having children changes everything. It changes your whole life. It’s brutal and incredible. […] As a mother, it was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what [my character] would do. And it was just heartbreaking… I had just had my firstborn, and there’s not really anything like postpartum. It’s extremely isolating. She doesn’t have a community. She doesn’t have her people. But the truth is, extreme anxiety and extreme depression is isolating, no matter where you are. You feel like an alien.”

Release Date

The film is set to hit theaters nationwide on November 7. There are also some advance screenings in the Los Angeles area on the following dates:

10/20 at 1 p.m. PT — Wilshire Screening Room, 8670 Wilshire Blvd Suite 112, Beverly Hills
10/23 at 7 p.m. PT — Rodeo Screening Room, 150 S Rodeo Dr #140, Beverly Hills
10/28 at 7 p.m. PT — Sepulveda Screening Room, 1640 S Sepulveda Blvd #104, West Los Angeles
10/29 at 12 p.m. PT — Dolby Screening Room, 3608 W. Alameda Ave., Burbank

Domingo Crashed The Party Once Again For Sabrina Carpenter’s Return To ‘SNL’

Even after all these years, Saturday Night Live is still capable of producing characters that make waves in pop culture long after the original sketch has aired. One of the most prominent ones lately has been Marcello Hernández’s Domingo, the subject of Chloe Fineman’s character Kelsey’s extramarital affairs. The whole thing started with a group of bridesmaids singing a parody of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and the sketch format has returned a few different times since the initial airing a year ago.

Since Carpenter was back as host and musical guest this past weekend, it was essentially a given that Domingo would return, and indeed, he did. SNL had so much faith in the bit landing, in fact, that they did it as a cold open.

This time around, it’s pretty much the same story. The women recount a night out in Nashville through some parodies, of Taylor Swift’s “The Fate Of Ophelia,” Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” and Alex Warren’s “Ordinary.” Of course, Domingo is involved, with Kelsey pretending she’s sick and then sneaking out of the hotel to meet up with Domingo. Unsurprisingly, Domingo showed up to the party, sang his own song, and that’s that.

Check out the sketch above.

Sabrina Carpenter Dropped Two F-Bombs And Sang In Her Underwear On ‘SNL’

Of all the modern pop stars, Sabrina Carpenter is perhaps the most qualified to pull double-duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live: She’s one of the biggest singers in the world right now, she has a real background in acting, and she’s frequently hilarious. She actually did take over the show in both roles on the latest episode, but there was a bit of what might be called a slip-up.

For one of her two musical performances, Carpenter sang the Man’s Best Friend cut “Nobody’s Son.” There’s a part of the song where she repeats, “He sure f*cked me up / And yes, I’m talking ’bout your baby,” but on air, she didn’t censor herself and said the F-word twice. As the New York Post notes, the cursing made it on the live broadcast and the Peacock simulcast, but was censored during the West Coast airing and online postings, like the YouTube video above. Here’s a clip of the uncensored performance.

Also notable was her performance of the hit “Manchild,” which saw her performing in a bedroom set while wearing just underwear and a T-shirt. The text on the back of the underwear, by the way, read, “It’s Saturday night!”

Check out the performances above and below.

Hotels We Love: This Costa Rican Retreat Feels Hand Stitched Into A Nature Reserve

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA/MERLE COOPER/UPROXX

Some resorts show up and exert their will on the local environment. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo slips in like it’s always been there — roofs arcing like shells, paths shaded by almond and guanacaste trees, monkeys and coatis writing the day’s soundtrack. The whole place reads as “forest first, hotel second,” plugged into a peninsula that actively protects wildlife and the natural world.

That hush is the sell. Pools terrace toward powder sand-covered Culebra Bay, two on-property beaches sit in pocket coves, and a short boat hop gets you to the wider sands of Nacascolo when you want more elbow room. Better still, Liberia Airport (LIR) is under an hour away, so the calm arrives without a half-day transfer.

WHY IT’S AWESOME

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

The hotel feels nested, not pasted on — you hear wind and birds more than speakers, and sightlines stay glued to sea and canopy. Between the trio of hillside pools and easy beach access (plus that shuttle to broad, still-water Nacascolo), days fall into an unhurried pura-vida rhythm.

An absolute standout is the spa, ONDA. Unhurried and genuinely tranquil — this corner of the property is a sanctuary, with modern design, local botanicals, and an impeccable staff.

IN-HOUSE FOOD & DRINK

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Rio Bhongo is the daily heartbeat — open-air, pool-adjacent, and stacked with a legit breakfast spread (fresh fruit, pastries, hot stations, omelets) and a proper coffee bar pouring Costa Rican beans.

Ostra is your linger spot: a contemporary take on Southeast Asian flavors filtered through local sourcing, with a terrace that looks toward the bay and an adults-only relaxation pool just steps away.

Craving buzz and live music? Chao Pescao plays the social hub — shareable plates, a serious cocktail program that leans into local citrus and aromatics, and a neighborhood feel tucked into the trees above Marina Papagayo.

AMENITIES

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Three hillside pools (plus a dedicated adults-only zone near Ostra) with bay and mountain sightlines.

Two on-property beaches and an easy boat shuttle to Nacascolo Beach, where calm water = paddle-friendly days.

ONDA Spa & Wellness — forest-tucked, with couples’ suites (side-by-side treatments, soaking tub, private relaxation area).

ROOM TYPES

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

You’re choosing between Bay or Forest View rooms, Suites, and a handful of top-tier suites — all built around indoor/outdoor flow, tactile natural materials, rain showers, and terraces that make you linger. The vibe is biophilic without shouting about it.

If the price works (or if you’re part of the Hyatt’s home share program), the hillside suites with plunge pools are… a few stages beyond incredible.

BEST THINGS TO DO WITHIN A 15-MINUTE WALK

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Drop down the shaded paths to the hotel’s pocket coves for morning paddles, iguana sightings, and that glassy bay water. When you want bigger, blonder sand, grab the Nimbu boat from Playa Sombrero Oscuro to Nacascolo — a quick skip across Culebra Bay.

BED GAME

ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Firm-meets-forgiving mattresses, crisp linens, and the right pillow density for post-swim naps.

It’s a “read twenty, doze forty” situation.

SEXINESS RATING

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Twilight walks after dinner feel cinematic — frogs chirping, trees whispering, bay lights winking through leaves. The adults-only pool by Ostra and the couples’ suites at ONDA stack the deck for disappear-for-a-few-hours energy.

Rating: 9/10

VIEWS & PICS SPOTS

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

Golden hour from Ostra’s terrace. The stair landings frame serpentine pools with the bay beyond. Loungers are tucked under tree canopies on the hotel coves. If your camera likes clean lines and greens-to-blues, you’re set. And, of course, the beaches are always perfect for pics.

BOTTOM LINE

ANDAZ COSTA RICA
ANDAZ COSTA RICA

If you want a resort that gets out of nature’s way — calm pools, low-key coves, food that meets the setting, and a spa that actually resets you — Andaz Papagayo nails the brief.

SNX: This Week’s Best Sneakers, Featuring The Jordan 1 Pro Green, Margiela X Salomon XT-MM6 And More

Oct 17_Weekly Shoe Drops_Editorial Image_1024x450
Adidas/Nike/Salomon/Uproxx

Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the internet. The last couple of weeks have been a total surprise — after the incredibly mid-summer release schedule, we had already written off 2025 as one of the worst years for new releases this decade. And then somehow, fall hit, and we’ve been treated to dope release after dope release. So maybe there is time to save 2025 yet!

Having said that, this week’s drop list is incredibly short. We’re down to just five noteworthy releases, but we aren’t ready to write off the potential of this season yet — we know there are some great releases to come and although this week doesn’t offer much in terms of variety, the short list is a strong one!

So let’s dive into the best sneakers dropping this week.

Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-MM6

Salomon

Price: $480

The avant garden cool kid brand, Maison Margiela, has just teamed up with the ultimate niche brand in sneakers (right now), Salomon, delivering a shoe that everyone will probably be wearing at the next 2hollis concert. The XT-MM6 is Gorp-core meets goth with a mixed textile and synthetic upper with a textile lining. It’s breathable, flexible, and lightweight.

The Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-MM6 is out now for a retail price of $480. Pick up a pair at Salomon or aftermarket sites like GOAT.

Adidas Fear of God Athletics II Purple

Adidas

Price: $180

Whether we’re talking about the endless onslaught of Jordans or the current hype around 2000s’ era designs, sneaker culture and trends are dominated by nostalgia. When people eventually have nostalgia for the years right before this decade, they’ll flock to the Fear of God Athletics II, which in 2025 feels like a relic.

With the fall of Yeezy, is there another sneaker that looks like this right now? The Athletics II exudes soft luxury, it’s minimal, muted, and elegantly detailed with a synthetic upper, light strike midsole, monofilament stripes, and a milky translucent outsole.

The Adidas Fear of God Athletics II Purple is out now for a retail price of $180. Pick up a pair at Adidas or aftermarket sites like GOAT and Flight Club.

Levi’s x Nigo x Nike Air Force 3 Denim

Nike

Price: $150

A three-way collaboration between iconic Japanese designer Nigo, American staple, Levi’s, and Nike? Sign us up, we’re sold!

For those who need to know the details, this sneaker is an Air Force 3 outfitted with a stone-washed denim finish with suede panels and printed insole graphics that nod to vintage Levi’s ads.

The Levi’s x Nigo x Nike Air Force 3 Denim is out now for a retail price of $150. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Baltoro Black and White

Nike

Price: $155

With ‘00s nostalgia is ruling the sneaker world right now, the Baltoro is here to brings us some of that chunky ‘90s flair for those who aren’t feeling the current sneaker moment we’re in right now.

Made in collaboration with Stüssy, this sneaker sports a full grain leather upper with premium accents, and a stealthy black color with a bright white swoosh. It feels like a breath of fresh air amongst all the synthetic and textile sneakers we’re being inundated with.

The Nike Baltoro Black and White is set to drop on October 17th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $155. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or aftermarket sites like GOAT.

Nike Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Pro Green

Nike

Price: $185

As much as I roll my eye at the sneaker world’s obsession with nostalgia, I can’t help but be part of the problem. I mean, just look at this sneaker — it’s f*cking beautiful, even though it looks like it comes straight out of the late ‘80s. This Jordan 1 sports a premium leather upper in off-white with rich forest green paneling, and a brushed gold Wings logo.

Is it as comfortable as anything that has come out in the last 40 years? Probably not, but we’ll gladly take the pain to rock a pair of these.

The Nike Women’s Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Pro Green is set to drop on October 18th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $185. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or aftermarket sites like GOAT and Flight Club.

Monaleo Links Up With A Legion Of Houston Legends On ‘We On Dat (OG Mix)’ From Her New Mixtape, ‘Who Did The Body?’

Houston is the hometown of many a hip-hop legend, and that tightly-knit circle comes together to co-sign one of the city’s rising stars on her new mixtape. Today, Monaleo released her new project, Who Did The Body?, with its discussion piece single, “Sexy Soulaan.” The tape, which features production from Mike Will Made It and a feature from Lizzo, also contains “We On Dat (OG Mix),” which brings together a trio of Houston OGs — Bun B, Lil Keke, and Paul Wall — to uplift Monaleo as the city’s next major star.

With a slow-thumping beat inspired by DJ Screw’s signature chopped-and-screwed sound and that signature Houston choppa flow, “We On Dat” threatens to “lay b*tches out” for starting trouble. “None of these bitches wanna get down and scratch / I’ma mink-mink-mink me a b*tch, no cap / On the internet talkin’, b*tch, talk to the chat.” Much like on her single, “Wig Splitter,” Monaleo trademark humor shines through the belligerent bars, while the elders back her up with full-throated support and a plethora of their own pugnacious punchlines.

With Who Did The Body? building her buzz, Monaleo sold out her recently announced tour, which includes two dates in Washington, DC and a finale in her hometown. You can find more info at monaleo.com

Chika’s Introspective ‘Float’ Says Goodbye To Simpler Times And Lost Loves

One of my faves, Alabama rapper Chika, quietly made her return a few weeks ago with a noodley, lighthearted song called “Stimming.” Written about “scovering parts of my neurodivergence as an adult and wishing i could tell younger me that it would all make sense eventually,” according to her Twitter, the track marked a decided turn for the former Grammy nominee from the studied precision of prior work to a more free-form flow state.

She continues down that looser, more autobiographical road with her latest, “Float.” This one is written, fittingly enough, as almost an open letter to old loved ones and simpler times, as Chika reflects on her unexpected brushes with fame flourishing from classroom rap battles. On Instagram, she explained, “As i’ve gotten older, i’ve begun to reflect on where i’m from and how it has shaped me. consider this one a love letter to hometowns everywhere.” That hometown love was reciprocated recently after August 5 was declared Chika day in Montgomery, Alabama.

Chika’s latest music comes after struggles with her mental and physical health, as well as battles with her former label, Warner Records, over creative control of her music. While her 2023 debut Samson: The Album was well-received by critics (and was one of the underrated best albums of that year, in my opinion), it did not chart and went basically unsupported, aside from its handful of singles, released in rapid succession ahead of its release.

Since then, she’s collaborated with Fred Again.. and Anderson .Paak on “Places To Be and popped up on Electronic Arts’ latest FC installment soundtrack. It certainly sounds like she’s off to a good start for the next phase of her career, and in a better place overall.

You can listen to “Float” above.

‘Deli Boys’ Season 2: Everything To Know About The Beloved Hulu Comedy’s Return

Deli Boys top
Hulu

If you’re unaware of Deli Boys, it’s time to tap into the Hulu comedy series: The first season hit the platform in March, so all ten episodes are streaming now. It fared well, too, as the season earned an impressive 96-percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The performance was strong enough to get the show a renewal for a second season, it was announced this summer. There were tons of twists and turns in the first batch of episodes, so the next season could go anywhere.

While awaiting the new season, check out everything you need to know about the upcoming episodes.

Plot

The logline for the first season says the show follows “a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers (Ali, Shaikh) who lose everything and are forced to reckon with their Baba’s secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.”

As for the second season, in a Collider interview from earlier this year (from before the show’s renewal was announced), producer Jenni Konner said:

“I think we’d like to talk about other cultures in Philly, and I think we touched upon so many other immigrant cultures. And that was really, really fun for us, to be able to bring not just, you know… he started the show with… it’s not about the Immigrant experience, it’s about seeing their experience through a Muslim lens. So why not go for a bunch of other cultures?”

Cast

The main cast from the first season — Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, Alfie Fuller, Poorna Jagannathan, and Brian George — is set to return. It was also announced the Fred Armisen will be joining the show. Armisen’s character is described as “a legendary gambling savant with an uncanny ability to read people like cards. His casino empire is global, but his crown jewel is in Philly. He is uniquely brilliant and deeply unhinged — a deadly combo if you cross him.”

Series creator Abdullah Saeed previously told Collider, “So far, it’s funny: We haven’t seen the boys’ friends or cousins, right? So I feel like meeting those people, the extended family, too, because you’re supposed to have a big family. Also there’s some mystery around, who’s their mom? Nobody talks about their mom; What’s the story there?”

Release Date

The new season doesn’t have a release date, but it is reportedly set to start filming in Chicago this December and wrap up by around next February, so expect a 2026 drop at the earliest.

Trailer

There’s no trailer for the second season available yet, but revisit the trailer for the first season below.
