Doja Cat Explained How ‘Scarlet’ Was Written Over The Course Of Two Periods, Making One Half ‘Very Different’ From The Other

Doja Cat‘s new album Scarlet is finally weeks away from its release, after an album cover change and the singles “Attention,” “Paint The Town Red,” and “Demons.”

On Wednesday (September 6), the Victoria’s Secret World Tour had its launch event where stars hung out on the Pink Carpet. Doja revealed more about Scarlet in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the event.

“One thing that I wanted to mention was that I have music that came out — these three songs came out, these were the first three songs I made during the period that I was making music,” she said. “And then there’s a second half where I went to Malibu and I made all this music in ten days. That half is very different from the first half.”

When the interview asked it was different, Doja said, “I can’t tell you. But I am excited that it’s coming out soon. It’s two periods.”

This eclecticism in the album makes sense after she previously called the album rap, rave-influenced, R&B, and punk. “This new album is more introspective, but I’m not leaning so hard into that to where it becomes boring,” she said last month.

Scarlet is out 9/22 via RCA. Find more information here.

Here’s The Only Moment You Need To Watch From Tucker Carlson’s Interview With A Man Who Claims He Had Sex With Barack Obama

It was the Frost/Nixon that 2023 deserves: Tucker Carlson interviewing a convicted “con artist” who claims he did crack and had sex with Barack Obama in the late 1990s, as was the style at the time.

Carlson spoke to Larry Sinclair, who alleged that in 1999, “I had given Barack $250 to pay for coke, I start putting a line on a CD tray to snort and next thing I know he’s got a little pipe and he’s smoking it.” The Barack Obama & Larry Sinclair: Cocaine, Sex, Lies & Murder? author added, “So I just started rubbing my hand along his thighs to see where it was going, and it went the direction I had intended it to go.” The 40-minute interview is available on X — or better yet, you can skip it and watch this highlight instead.

“Crack it.”

Is it fair to judge an interview by an out-of-context clip? No. Should we take seriously a man who’s been convicted of fraud sharing his long-debunked tales about doing drugs and having sex with someone who hasn’t been president for seven years? Also no. Even Elon Musk, of all people, seems to think so.

“Mr Sinclair is not super convincing. Pics or…” he wrote on X. In another whatever-the-f*ck-tweets-are-called-now, he added, “Of course, the probability that his claims are true would have to rest on objective evidence, rather than claims made by someone with a dubious history.”

If Elon is doubting your claims…

Doja Cat Explained The Story Behind Her Neck Brace Photo That Caused Some Concern

Yesterday (September 7), Doja Cat shared a photo of herself wearing a hearty neck brace. She captioned the post, “i’m fine my neck is fine,” but nonetheless, there was still some concern over what possibly happened to Doja. Now, she has cleared the air, offering some background on the photo and insisting that she really isn’t hurt.

Doja was asked about the brace during a red-carpet interview at the Victoria’s Secret World Tour fashion show yesterday (September 6) and she explained, “So my friend here — my date, my lovely date — got whiplash, and he took… he takes it off sometimes, and so I just stole it from him.” She went on to note, “I’m literally fine, completely fine. My neck is great.”

Indeed, Doja’s Instagram post of photos from the event includes one photo of her date wearing the neck brace.

Meanwhile, Doja recently called out some of her fans, writing, “people don’t wanna accept im dissing them so they try to pin it on cardi nicki and meg and every other female rapper. I don’t diss rappers I diss critics. Stay bored. Stay reaching. […] TO BE 100% CLEAR because I know you all need me to talk REEEEEAL SLOOOOOW for you; I’m not dissing anyone but the f*ckin phonies in my comment sections.”

Latto And Sexyy Red Dropped A Tag-Team Twerk Video To Announce Their Remix Of Young Nudy’s ‘Peaches & Eggplant’

Young Nudy earned his first-career entry on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist with “Peaches & Eggplant,” a track featuring 21 Savage and housed on his Gumbo album from February. The single debuted on the Hot 100 in June, around the time Nudy dropped the extremely raunchy video, and has spent 13 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 49 on September 2.

What could Nudy possibly do to boost the song’s chart positioning? Get Latto and Sexyy Red on a remix.

[Peach emoji, eggplant emoji] Remix Friday @youngnudy #WasGoneDoAJointPostWithSexyyButYallDeletedHerIG [angry emoji],” Latto captioned an Instagram video of her twerking alongside Sexyy Red.

The playful nature of Latto’s Instagram tease is on par with Young Nudy’s mindset when creating “Peaches & Eggplant” in the first place, as he told Billboard‘s Kyle Denis in July.

“I ain’t even gonna play like I was on some intentional sh*t — it was just me playing around in the studio and being goofy,” he said. “I was just being silly with my buddies.”

Nudy also joked about the “ratchet” video, saying, “That motherf*ker was lit, though! It really wasn’t even that many people at first. I was like, ‘You know what? I’m finna make this sh*t public for everybody to come.’ Because I just want everybody to have fun. I’m a down-to-earth type of person, so I don’t really care about having a lot of people around me who just wanna kick it, when it comes to certain situations.”

There’s A Wild Rumor That Pitbull Has 21 Kids With 18 Women In 13 Countries, Truly Making Him Mr. Worldwide

Last month, TikTok user Pat Williams Comedy shared a video in which he goes through a list of some celebrities who have a lot of children. He wraps up with Pitbull, who he says has “21 kids with 18 different women in 13 different countries.” He added, “He sees them all twice a year, and he’s never missed a child support payment.”

What’s easy to see, though, is that this isn’t true. Williams used the #satire tag on his video and his bio currently reads, “All videos are jokes.” There’s also the fact that “Comedy” is right in his username.

Regardless, this one went viral on TikTok and has over 4.6 million views, and some people even believed the rumor. A few days ago, in a viral video of her own that has over 3 million views, another TikTok user shared the supposed fact, further perpetuating the rumor.

@jacintatasker

I hope they’re all as talented as him, can u imagine the amount of new bangerz they could put out?! #pitbull #mrworldwide #mr305worldwide #mr305

♬ International Love (feat. Chris Brown) – Pitbull

Enough people fell for the outlandish paternal ruse that a Pitbull representative actually responded. Rolling Stone reached out and a rep replied, “That is completely inaccurate and obviously comedic humor.”

As the publication notes, it’s not fully known how many children Pitbull actually has, but various sources online indicate he has six children (still a lot by today’s standards!).

Flyana Boss Take Another Lap With Kaliii And Missy Elliott For Their ‘You Wish’ Remix

For months, Flyana Boss‘ breakout hit “You Wish” has dominated social media feeds while showing off all the brand deals that they’ve been swimming in. But just when it seemed like the hit had run its course — literally — the self-proclaimed “weird Black girl” duo finds their second wind, taking a victory lap with a remix featuring both a peer in fellow Atlanta hitmaker Kaliii and the original weird Black girl, Missy Elliott.

All four women hit their stride early on the new track, with Kaliii sneering at accusations of one-hit-wonderism, Folayan wondering “what we runnin’ from?” and Bobbi comparing herself to Erykah Badu because she keeps a bag (a reference to Badu’s single “Bag Lady”) and it’s “on and on” (a reference to… well… “On & On”). But then Missy takes the baton to run anchor and reminds the world why she’s in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

Flyana Boss’ breakout moment clearly still has legs — and those legs have all the potential to carry the Dallas-and-Detroit duo to the top. You can catch them live on Janelle Monáe’s The Age Of Pleasure Tour> and check out the remix of “You Wish” above.

Eve 6 Honored Steve Harwell Days After His Death With A Letter About Smash Mouth’s ‘Best Song’

Steve Harwell died at 56 years old on Monday, September 4, while “surrounded by family and friends,” according to a statement distributed to various publications by Smash Mouth’s manager, Robert Hayes. The band’s co-founder and former lead singer had “reached the final stage of liver failure” and was “in hospice at home,” as TMZ reported the day before his passing.

Eve 6’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account was among the first to honor Harwell after the news broke on Monday, writing in a since-deleted post, “RIP Steve Harwell. You brought a lotta joy to a lotta people. You were so much more than a meme.”

Eve 6’s Max Collins expounded on that with a lengthy Patreon post on Wednesday, September 6. He posted to X, “I wrote about Steve Harwell, Smash Mouth, and alcoholism. RIP to a legend. Edited by @lukeoneil47.” Another post stated, “It’s important to me that people remember their best song.”

The Patreon post is titled, “Walkin’ On The Sun,” the same title as Smash Mouth’s standout track from their 1997 debut album, Fush Yu Mang. Most people, including Kim Kardashian, peg 1999’s “All Star” as Smash Mouth’s best song, but Collins explained the reasoning behind his choice.

“The power of a great pop song is such that it grabs you by the sleeve and says ‘you’re coming with me. Whatever you were just thinking or worrying about is no longer your concern. You’re in my dream now, b*tch,’” he wrote. “I maintain that ‘Walkin On The Sun’ is a perfect pop song, but even more importantly it’s a perfect pop song recording. Every production element impeccably forged for maximum entertainment value.”

The post then delves into having empathy for Harwell’s reported years-long battle with alcoholism, which we’ve excerpted below:

“He was a founding member and had ownership of the band and couldn’t as such be fired. A week or so later though he announced that he was leaving and I was hopeful that he would be able to get clean.

Not to be.

Alcoholism is a gnarly f*cking disease. A slow, remorseless killer. And it also has the distinction of being totally socially acceptable and incentivized by our culture. A steady stream of messaging that begins in adolescence, and changes in form as we age up, but the content remains the same: You are a loser if you don’t get wasted. Being drunk is living. You want to live don’t you? Enough people have reached out to tell me they’ve been helped by my talking about this stuff for me to think it worthwhile to briefly drop my experience here even if it scans to some as a ‘making it about you’ moment. I was extremely lucky in that I was able to become miserable enough at 26 to be willing to try the thing that scared me most which was living without alcohol.”

Harwell announced his retirement from music in October 2021. He confirmed to TMZ that he could no longer perform through his “health challenges.”

The outlet additionally reported, “We’re told he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy eight years ago, which has led to other medical setbacks like heart failure and Wernicke’s encephalopathy … a condition that impacts his motor functions, including speech and memory. He’s also battled substance abuse over the years, which is further contributing to his health crisis.”

Olivia Rodrigo Is Giving Fans A ‘Guts’-Themed Ice Cream Collaboration To Sink Their Teeth Into

Olivia Rodrigo came for blood in the chorus of “Vampire,” the lead single off her forthcoming Guts album, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July. “You made me look so naive,” she sings. “The way you sold me for parts / As you sunk your teeth into me, oh / Bloodsucker, famef*cker / Bleeding me dry like a goddamn vampire.”

On Wednesday, September 6, Rodrigo and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream announced something sweeter for fans to sink their teeth into.

“OLIVIA RODRIGO CONE TAKEOVER [purple dot emoji, ice cream cone emoji],” reads the caption of a joint Instagram post between Jeni’s and Rodrigo. “This weekend only! We’re turning all Buttercrisp Waffle Cones & Bowls purple to celebrate @oliviarodrigo’s new album GUTS (drops Friday, 9/8). Catch the purple cones 9/8-9/10 in all shops nationwide.”

Rodrigo reposted to her Instagram Story, simply adding two silver heart emojis and one purple heart emoji.

Earlier this week, Jeni’s dropped a purple Easter egg — or, more accurately, purple batter onto a waffle iron — that a “super-special, shop-only collab” was on the way.

As mentioned in the Instagram post, Rodrigo’s highly anticipated sophomore album arrives this Friday, September 8 — two-plus years after her perennial chart-topping and Grammy-winning debut album Sour. Along with “Vampire,” Rodrigo dropped “Bad Idea Right?” on August 11, sending fans on another hunt to uncover which ex she’s singing about.

All of the puzzle pieces — or, at least as many as Rodrigo is willing to publicly disclose — will be revealed soon enough.

Guts is out 9/8 via Geffen. Find more information here.

A New York Judge Blew Off Trump’s Request For A Trial Delay With A Mere Nine Words

Across all his indictments and lawsuits, Donald Trump has always maintained his innocence. Surely he’d want the public to know irrefutable proof of that, so that he can move on with his life. So why is he always trying to delay or gum up the works of his many trials? Surely it’s not because he’s actually guilty, right? Anyway, his latest attempt to sabotage his potential legal comeuppance has come to naught.

As per The Daily Beast, Trump’s legal team predictably tried to delay the upcoming trial involving New York District Attorney Letitia James, which is set to begin in early October. In case you can’t keep all the former president’s legal woes straight, that’s the one alleging the Trump Organization partook in bank and tax fraud. Alas, Justice Arthur F. Engoron wasn’t buying it. And he didn’t even need many words to explain why not.

“Decline to sign; Defendants’ arguments are completely without merit,” Engoron wrote at the bottom of the draft order Trump’s lawyers implored him to sign.

While the lawsuit, which was announced nearly a year ago, hasn’t made news much lately — not when Trump has racked up four (4) criminal indictments — it’s a biggie. James and her office are seeking $250 million in penalties, plus another $20,000 in sanctions due to Trump’s lawyers have repeatedly tried to destroy the case with “previously-rejected arguments.” It would severely hobble Trump and his business financially, but so far it appears his usual move — to delay, delay, delay — ain’t working.

Kim Kardashian Seemingly Paid Tribute To Smash Mouth’s Steve Harwell With A Golden Bikini Selfie

Steve Harwell, the co-founder and former lead singer of Smash Mouth, died on Monday, September 4, at 56 years old. The day before, TMZ reported that Harwell had “reached the final stage of liver failure” and was “in hospice at home.” His passing sparked online tributes from the likes of Eve 6 and Guy Fieri. On Wednesday, Kim Kardashian seemed to join in on the tributes.

Kardashian posted two mirror selfies to Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) in which she’s wearing nothing but a gold bikini. “All that glitters is gold,” she captioned both posts.

Smash Mouth reposted the photos on X, writing, “only shooting stars.” Of course, these are lyrics from the chorus of Smash Mouth’s biggest hit “All Stars”: “Hey now, you’re an all star / Get your game on, go play / Hey now, you’re a rock star / Get the show on, get paid / All that glitters is gold / Only shootin’ stars break the mold.”

On Monday, Smash Mouth posted a photo of Harwell alongside a shorter version of the statement that their manager, Robert Hayes, provided to various outlets, confirming Harwell had died at home in Boise, Idaho, while “surrounded by family and friends.”

Following a concerning performance in October 2021, Harwell announced his retirement from music.

“Ever since I was a kid, I dreamed of being a Rockstar performing in front of sold-out arenas and have been so fortunate to live out that dream,” Harwell told TMZ at the time. “To my bandmates, it’s been an honor performing with you all these years and I can’t think of anyone else I would have rather gone on this wild journey with.”

Within the same article, TMZ reported, “We’re told he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy eight years ago, which has led to other medical setbacks like heart failure and Wernicke’s encephalopathy … a condition that impacts his motor functions, including speech and memory. He’s also battled substance abuse over the years, which is further contributing to his health crisis.”
