Oh Look, Trump Apparently ‘Sold’ Mar-A-Lago Prior To His Latest Arrest

On Thursday evening, ex-President Donald Trump surrendered at the Fulton County Jail on a basket full of serious RICO charges. He proceeded to self-report his own weight (he somehow gave identical measurements to many fine athletes), and from there, he posed for an angry-looking mugshot, but before that happened, a fake mugshot went viral.

Trump was in and out of the jail in a jiffy, and then he proceeded to pass on deranged memes that referred to himself as the most wonderful president of all time. However, Trump surely as confident in being proven innocent as he appears while boasting about his alleged awesomeness. It seems that 45 is worried about his assets, specifically Mar-a-Lago, which he referred to as the “Winter White House” (being seized by the feds). A listing on Zillow curiously corresponds to Trump’s Palm Beach address, and there’s an aerial view of a property supposedly sold for $422 million on August 4. The Zestimate, however, is listed at just over $24 million.

Newsweek the legwork to verify that this property’s previously most recent sale date corresponds to the date Trump originally bought what would become The Mar-a-Lago Club:

The listing also mentioned that the last time that the property was sold was on April 6, 1995—the exact same date when the former president turned the residence, which he purchased in 1985 for $2 million, into The Mar-a-Lago Club. At the time, Zillow said the property was acquired for $12,000,000.

While Zillow does not provide details about who bought the property, the website SunBiz said that the current owner of Mar-a-Lago is a company called Mar-a-Lago Inc., owned by the former president’s eldest son.

Nothing about the transfer outwardly appears to be illegal, although you never can tell what will pop up when it comes to the Trump family. As far as anyone knows, Donald intends to keep living at his private residence on the property, which is the same place where he stored classified documents in a bathroom and allegedly showed them off for bragging rights. As the kids say, what a clown show this is turning out to be.

Dua Lipa Dipped Her Toes Into wikiFeet, A ‘Horrible Website,’ And Checked Out Her Foot Ratings

There’s a substantial enough community of foot enthusiasts online that they maintain the website wikiFeet, an impressively thorough collection of photos of celebrities’ feet. Dua Lipa is well aware of what’s going on here, and she’s even taken the time to check out her wikiFeet profile.

As Entertainment Weekly notes, this topic came up on a new episode of Lipa’s At Your Service podcast, during which she chatted with comedian Ziwe about her new book Black Friend. In one of the book’s essays, Ziwe write about discovering her wikiFeet profile, and Lipa noted, “I read that essay. And I have to confess, I went on wikiFeet to just look at… I looked at both of our ratings. Your rating’s gone up since you wrote the essay. It’s a horrible website, by the way. I hate feet. So while I was reading your essay I was very… I felt seen. Anyway, let’s not talk about feet.”

Lipa later added, “While I was looking at your feet, I was like, ‘This is way more research I’ve ever done for any of my podcast guests.’”

Here’s Lipa’s wikiFeet profile if you want to check it out (it’s safe for work, unless your workplace prohibits foot photos). Her profile has 2,846 total votes, and of those, 1,730 are “beautiful,” 449 are “nice,” 348 are “OK,” 187 are “bad,” and 132 are “ugly.” All in all, there are 891 photos of Lipa’s feet on the site. The feedback in the comments section is mixed: One commenter wrote, “She’s special Damn,” while another said, “She might be the most beautiful singer/actress/celeb in the world, she’s incredible, but these feet are atrocious, they look like hands, the toes are all over the place, they’re really bad, and it’s unfortunate because she’s an amazing person, it’s just her feet are hideous.”

Check out the At Your Service episode with Ziwe above.

‘The Sopranos’ Star Drea De Matteo Is Now On OnlyFans

Drea de Matteo frequently wore wild outfits on The Sopranos. Now she’s taking it all off.

This week, the actress, who gave one of the best performances as Adriana La Cerva on arguably the greatest TV show ever, announced that she’s joined OnlyFans. de Matteo’s profile photo for her account shows her wearing nothing but boots while smoking a cigarette in an unmade bed. The bio reads, “THE SOPORNOS.” That pun alone is worth the cost of a subscription ($15/month).

Since The Sopranos ended in 2007, de Matteo has often leaned into her astronomical success on the show. She hosted the re-watch podcast Made Women and has sold merchandise including shirts that read “Adriana F*king La Cerva” in the series’ iconic font featuring a handgun in place of the letter “r.”

Have yourself a very Sopranos day by subscribing to de Matteo’s OnlyFans after listening to Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa’s Talking Sopranos podcast while eating Big P*ssy’s pasta sauce.

In a 2021 interview with Vulture, de Matteo, who has also been on Sons of Anarchy, Desperate Housewives, and Mayans M.C., discussed how playing Adriana affected her post-Sopranos career. “It’s never easy after you come up with a huge show like that because the expectations are so high. It usually takes a long time for people to erase that from their psyche, and it hasn’t been easy for me to find the roles that I love,” she explained. “But now I just want to play a character like that all over again because it was the richest with the most layers. And that accent was the most fun.”

You can subscribe to de Matteo’s OnlyFans here.

The Killers Return With The Dramatic, ’80s-Influenced Anthem ‘Your Side Of Town’

The Killers have shared a lot of music in the past few years. Imploding The Mirage arrived in 2020, followed by Pressure Machine in 2021. Shortly after that record, they said they were “figuring out” another one.

Their new ’80s-influenced song “Your Side Of Town” is their first material since their one-off track “Boy” unveiled in August of last year. “Your Side Of Town” bursts with fervent synths and Brandon Flowers’ impassioned vocals, tinged with hypnotic Auto-Tune: “I’m hanging on your side of town / I notice when you’re not around / Can’t keep my cool, I’m burning inside / A broken heartbeat, barely alive,” he sings with an air of melodrama.

The band is possibly eager to put out new stuff considering their upcoming festival slots. They’ll be performing at New Jersey’s Sea.Hear.Now Festival next to bands like Foo Fighters, Weezer, and Greta Van Fleet in the middle of September. Then, they’ll be headlining the annual Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful alongside Kendrick Lamar and Odesza at the end of that month. A few days after that, they’ll be hitting the Ohana Fest in California with acts like Foo Fighters, Father John Misty, Haim, and Japanese Breakfast.

Indiecast Reviews New Albums By The Armed And Ratboys

This week it was reported that Ed Droste of the fine art-rock band Grizzly Bear is now working as a therapist. That this was news at all speaks to the weird navieté that we as indie-rock fans have about the financial realities of the musicians we love. Steven and Ian begin the episode by talking about the “Joe jobs” of indie-rock lifers, and the potential “indie star to therapist” pipe line.

From there, the guys talk about Steven’s recent column on the best soundtrack albums of all-time, and why the golden age for soundtracks is from the mid-’80s to the early ’00s. While it’s true that a big film like Barbie can still spin off a successful soundtrack, the golden age of B and C-tier soundtracks — when an otherwise forgotten film like 1993’s Judgment Night can be paired with a famous soundtrack — seems to be over.

After that, Steven and Ian review new albums by hardcore collective The Armed and the Chicago guitar-pop band Ratboys. In Recommendation Corner, Ian praises the bloghouse throwback DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ and Steven gives the nod to the new solo album from Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek.

2023 FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup Group F Preview

There is one team — or, more specifically, one player — who has basketball fans ready to tune in to Group F at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. That would be the Slovenians, which are led by Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. In addition to his exploits as one of the best basketball players in the world, Doncic has become revered for his ability to find an extra gear when he throws on a Slovenia uniform and get them to a point where they’re punching above their weight.

That’s bad news for the remainder of Group F, which features three other teams that are looking to knock them from their perch — entering the tournament, no team the Slovenians are tied with Serbia and the United States for the best odds to win their group. Everything else appears to be a battle for second place between Georgia, Venezuela, and Cape Verde, but the great thing about international tournaments like this is that one bad day at the office can change everything. If any of these teams can get a little lucky, perhaps they can beat Slovenia and position themselves as the potential group winners.

Here are the full odds to win the group, via DraftKings.

Slovenia -2500
Georgia +1400
Venezuela +2500
Cape Verde +5000

Here, we’re going to go through Group F and let you know the players to watch, along with the schedule and the game you’ll want to check out.

Players to Watch

Walter Tavares (Cape Verde): NBA fans might remember Tavares from his time with the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since leaving the U.S., Tavares has been a standout for Real Madrid, as he’s accomplished just about everything he can in European basketball. The reigning EuroLeague Final Four MVP, Tavares very well might be the second-best player in this group, and will be the player Cape Verde turns to as it makes its World Cup debut.

Sandro Mamukelashvili (Georgia): A former second-round pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, Mamukelashvili joined the Spurs after getting waived last March and played the best ball of his professional career. In 19 games with seven starts, the former Seton Hall standout averaged 10.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a night, and was able to parlay that into a new, 1-year deal with San Antonio. Now, he’ll look to carry the momentum from his strong end to the season into the World Cup for a Georgia side that has a real chance of making it out of the group.

Luka Doncic (Slovenia): This one’s pretty easy, no? Doncic is the best player in the entire tournament, the single biggest reason Slovenia has a chance to medal, and looks to be in absolutely unbelievable shape as the tournament approaches. On the heels of a disappointing NBA season for the Mavericks, look for Doncic to have a monster tournament with the hopes of having it be a springboard to a big year in 2023-24.

Mike Tobey (Slovenia): The New York native and Virginia alumnus has carved out a nice career for himself in Europe, as he now plies his trade for Crvena zvezda after spending a few years in Spain. Tobey was excellent at the Tokyo Olympics as the Slovenians finished in fourth place, as he averaged 13.7 points and a tournament-best 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61.4 percent from the field. Doncic is obviously the team’s star, but don’t be surprised if Tobey is a gigantic piece of the puzzle.

Nestor Colmenares (Venezuela): The main reason Venezuela has a shot to get out of the group is its continuity, as a number of it players were on the roster at the 2019 World Cup when the team made it out of the group and finished 14th. Colmenares has been around the block for quite a while, as the 35-year-old forward has won gold with the team at the 2015 FIBA AmeriCup and at the 2014 and 2016 FIBA South American Championships. He averaged 10.3 points and 6.4 rebounds in World Cup qualifying.

Schedule/TV Info (all times EST)

Aug. 26
Cape Verde vs. Georgia, 4:00 a.m., ESPN+
Slovenia vs. Venezuela, 7:30 a.m., ESPN+

Aug. 28
Venezuela vs. Cape Verde, 4:00 a.m., ESPN+
Georgia vs. Slovenia, 7:30 a.m., ESPN+

Aug. 30
Georgia vs. Venezuela, 4:00 a.m., ESPN+
Slovenia vs. Cape Verde, 7:30 a.m., ESPN+

Game to Watch

Georgia vs. Venezuela: It would be a real shock if anyone other than Slovenia ended up winning the group. As such, if we’re assuming that both Georgia and Venezuela will lose to Slovenia and beat Cape Verde, their final game in group play will determine which team is going to move on to the second round of the tournament. The runner-up to this, of course, is every Slovenia game, because the chance to watch Doncic play international ball is always a delight.

Trump Shared Some Utterly Deranged Memes Calling Him The ‘Greatest President Ever’ After He Was Arrested

You’ve just been arrested for a fourth time this year, you’ve paid your $200,000 bond, and your mugshot went public. What do you do next? If you’re Donald Trump, you share deranged memes on Truth Social.

On Thursday, Trump was arrested at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia on felony charges of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state. Once he posted his bond (and his lovely mugshot appeared on shirts, both official and unofficial), he returned to then-Twitter, now-X for the first time in two years, but his heart is with Truth Social. “I LOVE TRUTH SOCIAL. IT IS MY HOME!!!” Trump wrote before going on a meme-sharing spree.

In one, taken from John Wick (leave Keanu out of this), he’s surrounded by guns with words like “DEMOCRATS,” “INDICTMENT,” “PEDOPHILES,” and “COMMUNISTS” written on them. In another, he’s smiling ghoulishly while underneath his chin, it reads, “The Face You Make When You Have the Hottest and Most Beloved Social Media Site On the Internet.”

Other memes include: a MAGA supporter asking, “Remember when we had a president who never ever stopped working for America?” (the pic is from Trump’s “walk of shame” following a poorly-attended rally, which is very funny); Pepe the Frog hanging out in Trump’s jacket pocket, for some reason; and an edit of Trump’s mugshot calling him the “greatest president ever” (there’s a lot of mugshot memes). “We love you!!!!” the meme maker wrote, knowing that Trump wouldn’t hear it from his wife.

Carlos Santana Made Some Anti-Transgender Comments On Stage Recently And Apologized After The Video Resurfaced

Alice Cooper recently raised some eyebrows over some transgender comments he made, and now it’s Carlos Santana’s turn.

There’s been a concert clip (which Billboard notes comes from a July performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey) making the rounds recently, and in it, Santana says, “When God made you and me, before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are. Later on, when you grow out of it, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it ain’t right. Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man, that’s it. Whatever you wanna do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that.”

He then expresses solidarity with “my brother Dave Chappelle.”

The clip made the rounds online and there’s been enough backlash for Santana to issue an apology. In a Facebook post shared yesterday (August 24), Santana wrote:

“I am sorry for my insensitive comments. They don’t reflect that I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs. I realize that what I said hurt people and that was not my intent. I sincerely apologize to the transgender community and everyone I offended.

Here is my personal goal that I strive to achieve every day. I want to honor and respect all person’s ideals and beliefs whether they are LGBTQ or not. This is the planet of free will and we have all been given this gift. I will now pursue this goal to be happy and have fun, and for everyone to believe what they want and follow in your hearts without fear. It takes courage to grow and glow in the light that you are and to be true, genuine, and authentic. We grow and learn to shine our light with Love and compliments. Have a glorious existence. Peace.

Carlos Santana.”

Lil Yachty Thinks ‘Y’all Stupid’ For Believing Drake’s Album Was Coming Out Today, But He Found A Silver Lining

Drake hasn’t revealed the release date for his new album, For All The Dogs, but it looked like Amazon Music did last week, when a tweet from the streaming platform indicated it was coming on August 25. That is of course today, and when midnight rolled around, the album was nowhere to be found. Lil Yachty has some thoughts on that.

Shortly after midnight this morning, he reminded people that no official source actually said the album was scheduled to drop that night, tweeting, “y’all stupid, no body even said for all the dogs was comin out tonight.”

He had pretty much the same message in a TikTok video he posted around the same time, saying, “By the way, I know y’all thought For All The Dogs was coming out tonight: Joke’s on y’all because nobody ever said that it was. Gotta stop believing sh*t you see on the internet.”

Yachty then saw an opportunity for a plug and took it, continuing, “Second of all: I dropped tonight, you know what I’m saying? Check out that new ‘Tesla.’ Wow, that’s oh so shameless, mentioning Drake’s name to plug myself, but whatever. I just dropped. No brakes, still going, I’m going to drop a song every week for the rest of the year. Ah!”

@lilyachty

shameless plug, tesla out now

So, no Drake today, but a bunch of Yachty for the next few months.

‘The Chi’: It’s Time For The ‘ReUp’ In Season 6, Episode 4

(WARNING: Spoilers for the most recent The Chi episode will be found below.)

Mental health is the main focus of this week’s The Chi season six episode. Victor has made this the main agenda for his term on city council and he starts by giving space to the brothers in his community to open up and be transparent. In a group discussion with Shaad, Emmett, Darnell, Marcus, Quincy, and Jamal, Victor opens up about the struggles of trying to keep everyone happy in his new role. Shaad speaks about the difficulties of post-jail life, Marcus discusses the relationship between his new girlfriend Tierra and his daughter Jemma and how it affects him, Jamal opens up about not wanting to disappoint his sister Lynae while also making improvements in his life, and Emmett speaks about the new suffocating pressures that he’s dealing with. It was a nice moment to see unfold between the guys and it helped build a stronger and tighter community between them.

Elsewhere, Papa makes progress with Kenya as they finally go on a date together, and though he scores a win in their growing relationship, he also stumbles a bit along the way. Douda’s past catches up to him and it puts Victor at risk as he was involved. Tiffany and Rob find out some new requirements about their plans to open a marijuana-growing business. Jemma and Maisha’s partnership isn’t off to the smoothest start and it’s starting to create cracks in their partnership and friendship. Lastly, Shaad’s past returns to his present and he also goes back to his old ways to make some money for himself, but it’s the start of what may become a slippery and dangerous slope for him.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways that we have after season six’s fourth episode, “ReUp”:

Victor Can’t Save Everyone

Victor is feeling the pressure in his term as city councilman. As someone who did a lot of volunteer work for the city, Victor is someone people in the community call on when they need help. Now, as a city councilman, that responsibility has grown, and as he revealed in this week’s episode, Victor realizes that it’s a thankless job. He also realizes that everyone will not be happy with his decisions and that he won’t be able to save everyone. This comes alive later in the episode when Tiffany and Rob request a permit to start growing marijuana, something Victor says could take six months if approved. Tiffany and Rob storm out frustrated, once again leaving Victor with that feeling of not being a good help.

Victor has been Superman to many in his world, but as the size of the community he is responsible for expands, the likelihood of satisfying everyone decreases. It’s a tough pill to swallow, and though he’s learning how to do that, Victor will have to speed up the process to serve his community appropriately. Because, as we see with Rob and Roselyn, there are people who could ruin his goals and put him at risk with his job.

Papa, Don’t Scare Her Away

This week, Papa gets his long-awaited date with Kenya. The two go out bowling and it’s a perfect night. He helps her bowl a strike, they dance to Anita Baker, and most importantly, they share a kiss. Papa has seemingly taken this as a sign that the two “go together,” as Yung Miami infamously said, but Kenya wants him to pump the brake. When Papa calls her “my girl” during a game night with the crew, Kenya shuts it down quickly which makes for an awkward situation. Papa wants nothing more than to make things official with Kenya, but he can’t do that by rushing things because he’ll simply scare her away. He still has to turn 18 and they still have to go on a few more dates and get to know each other more. Take things slow Papa, remember what we said about patience? Looking at things from a glass-half-full perspective rather than half-empty will serve Papa well in this situation.

'The Chi' 604 Jason Weaver as Shaad
SHOWTIME

Shaad Can’t Better His Future By Returning To His Past

The men in this week’s episode all feel some pressure to make things shake in their respective lives, but no one feels it more than Shaad. After a stint in jail, Shaad has struggled to find a job and begin the journey toward fulfilling his post-incarceration dreams. For the time being, he has a circle of people willing to help him, and his girlfriend Deja has been a rock for him. It’s still a difficult situation as he wants to be a man of his own to support himself and his lady. That’s why it’s no surprise that we see him turn to Bakari and Douda for some quick cash. Truthfully, this isn’t the answer and it’s a slippery slope that will land him right back in jail. He can’t better his future by returning to his past. That’s what landed him in jail in the first place.

We can see that Shaad is aware of this, as he alludes to during the mental health discussion with the guys, but we find him slipping up a bit. He turns down Douda’s latest offer, but what happens when the money runs out? Good things come to those who wait and stay diligent, and surely if Shaad can do that, his own will come.

Douda Is About To Tear This Community Apart

Remember that person Douda shot because he was chewing his gum too loud? Yeah, turns out they were an FBI informant, so there’s a lot of trouble coming Douda’s way. But it’s not just him. He roped in Victor to help get rid of the body, so that makes him an accomplice. The informant also had a stash of guns that Douda now has to figure out how to hide until the coast is clear. He seemingly also has plans for Papa’s dad after he spoke out against him and refused to hold his large sum of money. With Victor’s job at risk and the chance of injury to Papa’s dad, Douda’s next moves could very well tear the community apart that he has done little to help.

He’s put kids in danger (Bakari), stressed out the potential love interests he’s had (Tiffany), invested in a business with a hidden agenda (Emmett), and hurt the good men in the community or at least put them in harm’s way (Victor). There’s a quick solution to getting rid of Douda, but it doesn’t seem like anyone will go to that extreme. Unfortunately, the worst part of it all is it seems like keeping Douda happy is the one way to keep the peace. But as we see so far in season six, it seems like those two things, and the happiness of others, won’t coexist for much longer.

New episodes of ‘The Chi’ are available through the Paramount Plus With Showtime plan on Fridays at 3am EST/ 12 pm PST. Weekly episodes also air Sundays on Showtime at 9pm EST/PST.
