If anybody ever doubted the power of Netflix to save flagging or cancelled series, then You will always stand as a superior example of (homicidal) success. That show was rescued from Lifetime obscurity, and Netflix viewers were sad to see it go after Stalker Joe Goldberg fittingly crashed out.
Then there’s the case of Suits, the USA Network show of yesteryear that rose as a streaming phenomenon of 2023, which NBCUniversal responded to with a rapid-fire spin off, Suits: LA. This effort unfortunately did not go over well with either audience or critics and has now been cancelled after a single season. As NBCUniversal Entertainment content chief Jeff Bader summed up, “[I]t really just has not resonated the way we thought it would.”
Not even Harvey Specter could swoop in as “Batman” and save a joyless attempt (i.e., Suits: LA‘s entire vibe) to recapture lightning in a bottle. Yet whatever the reason(s) for the cancellation, this is causing some understandable murmurs for those looking forward to more White Collar, which is also a former USA Network hit that found new life on Netflix.
Because the world could really use more of Matt Bomer wearing the hell out of a suit as a charismatic conman, we need to ask the following question.
Is The White Collar Reboot Still Happening?
Maybe? Let’s just say that original series creator Jeff Eastin hasn’t spoken up about the Suits: LA fallout, and the last time he talked publicly on the White Collar reboot was in February when he and Matt Bomer “finished our meetings” and had narrowed down the reboot’s new home to be either Netflix, Peacock, or Prime Video/Amazon.
That is to say, nothing is definite, but Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva previously reported that the reboot, titled White Collar: Renaissance, is definitely being produced by 20th Television, and although “sibling Hulu was considered the logical home for the follow-up … the Disney streamer opted not to proceed with the reboot, which now is being taken to the open market.”
Eastin sounds optimistic about finding a landing place for Renaissance, which has several original cast members aboard including Bomer, Tiffani Theissen, Tim DeKay, and Sharif Atkins. The pilot script (titled “Masquerade”) is said to feel “organic” and contain a tribute to the late Willie Garson. And fingers are crossed that more White Collar not only happens but delivers a more fitting afterward than Garson received from the Sex And The City reboot.
Paul Schrader’s First Reformed is more than just a fantastic film. The movie, which stars Ethan Hawke as a reverend in the midst of an existential crisis of faith, also inspired the new album from La Dispute.
No One Was Driving The Car is the lyrically-dense group’s first album in six years, and it “grapples with malaise in the shadow of the looming apocalypse, which has noticeably been worsened by the advancement of tech.”
Here’s what vocalist Jordan Dreyer said about the album:
It begins with a man examining his own slow dissociation from himself while shaving his head alone in a bathroom at night, then shifts through a neighbor’s open window to a conversation about control and desire, framed via the image of a man seen through it: bound on the floor with a woman standing before him, presumably a sex worker. when the woman exits the building (her companion still tied up), the narrator leaves his own, following less her than the idea represented by her inside his own struggle to reconnect to desires for life severed by time, self, and circumstance, or perhaps fleeing the implication he draws from the man left behind (his helplessness, maybe, or else his confidence to pursue something complicated where the narrator has so consistently failed). the third song follows him on that destination-less late night walk, among the street people and their disasters, ending where he had the whole night subconsciously always headed: the hospital where his partner works, at which point an internal reckoning occurs.

The mere mention of Hawaii conjures images of swaying palm trees, golden-torched sand, and tourists attempting to surf with all the grace of a newborn giraffe –- and of course, their selfie sticks in full effect capturing said surfing.

I don’t normally coffee shame people, but if you drink Starbucks in Hawaii, just don’t. Please don’t. I highly recommend Ali’i Coffee Co. a few blocks away from Romer. The Mac Nut Cold Brew with banana milk is a must-try (or add a banana milk floater to any iced latte) and the friendly staff will help guide you through their binder of drinks and cheeky descriptions.
Opt for casual sushi in a beachy maxi dress at Katsu Midori Sushi, inside Prince Waikiki. There are no frills here, the menu is large enough to be overwhelming, you order from an iPad, but it’s worth the stop and you will not get a seat without a reservation.

RENAISSANCE HONOLULU HOTEL & SPA
For dinner, enjoy Mediterranean cuisine at MARA, an award-winning seaside-esque oasis at the Renaissance. Specialties like tapas and shellfish are served family-style at this Honolulu restaurant, but the real stunner is the Manoa Chocolate Sokolatina, a soft and moist chocolate cake served with salted caramel ice cream. This was probably the liveliest restaurant we visited during our seven-day trip, which may have had something to do with their killer espresso martinis (garnished with an orange peel, IYKYK).
For the best Mai Tai’s in the area, head out to The Beach Bar at Moana Surfrider and choose from three variations. If you’re feeling extra fancy and don’t want an alcoholic cocktail, you’ll feel plenty fancy sipping afternoon tea on the veranda like the effortlessly classy traveler you are.
For yet another exquisite sushi dinner, head to Sushi Sho for their intimate omakase experience at The Ritz-Carlton. You’ll find only ten seats, a master sushi chef, and the freshest fish you’ll ever taste—so, yes, reservations are mandatory.

A staple for over 70 years, you can also grab dinner reservations at Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar where they are known for their dimly lit restaurant and dark mahogany interior along with their artful theatre of tableside service for nearly every dish.
Take the luxury up to even higher standards by booking a private yacht charter or even a helicopter tour around the island to look down on down on the peasants (me, I’m the peasant).
Waikiki, But Do It Your Way

Waikiki is often associated with packed beaches and touristy luaus but make no mistake—this is also a destination that caters to every kind of traveler, whether you’re the luxury traveler who appreciates the finer things in island life or the creative type who is looking to get their groove and work-life balance back. You’ll find all that and more on O’ahu.
And in case you didn’t already know, no visit to O’ahu is complete without at least two days on the North Shore, but that’s a different article for a different day.
Gracie Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington, and Heide Peverelle have joined forces as Folk Bitch Trio. The Australian group, who have opened for King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Alex G, and Julia Jacklin, announced their debut album, Now Would Be A Good Time, after five years of playing together.
“The chemistry of being inspired by each other was evident from the get-go,” Sinclair explained, adding, “We all talked about loving music when we were growing up, and knowing we wanted music to be a big part of our lives. But for me at least, when I looked into the future, it was this relatively mysterious thing.” The mystery is easier to process when performing with Pilkington and Peverelle.
Folk Bitch Trio also released a deceptively powerful new single, “Cathode Ray,” which “expresses a feeling of being trapped in myself, and wanting to break out of that so violently that I’m literally talking about opening up a body viscerally” according to Sinclair. “It’s about frustration, and knowing there’s no cheap thrill that’s going to fix that.”

Sure, Coachella and Stagecoach might have kicked off festival season last month, but we’re just getting started on what 2025 music festivals will bring. If you are a globe-trotting music fan, you might opt for adventures like Barcelona for Primavera Sound, New York City for Governors Ball, Chicago for Lollapalooza, and San Francisco for Outside Lands. And for every festival comes unique packing requirements, as weather, vibe, and lodging all play into needs.
Uproxx has rounded up some essentials that we’re gonna be using for our own festival journeys this year. Apple’s cables have a history of fraying and needing to be replaced, but in recent years, a material change to a new woven design has greatly improved the durability. There’s a lot happening in the Oasis realm right now, most notably the upcoming reunion tour. There are apparently some reports, though, that aren’t true.
On X, an Oasis fan account teased breakouts from a new Oasis-focused issue of Music Week that went on sale today (May 13). They wrote, “The tour documentary highlighted by Rolling Stone is definitely in the works. A ‘really special, really exciting’ project is coming to celebrate the anniversary of [Oasis’ 1995 sophomore album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?]. This will be the last tour for now, and no new music is planned for the future.”
Gallagher responded to the post, “FAKE NEWS.” It’s not clear what exactly about the post he’s saying isn’t accurate, whether it’s just one or two points, or the whole thing.
In an interview with employees of Oasis’ record label Big Brother Recordings (here’s an excerpt), one said of the What’s The Story anniversary, “It’s really important for us to do the album justice and what we’ve got planned is really special, really exciting, and being able to work that alongside the live dates is going to be wonderful.”
Another said of a new Oasis album, “I mean, this is very much the last time around, as Noel’s made clear in the press. It’s a chance for fans who haven’t seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to. But no, there’s no plan for any new music.”
NxWorries has technically been an official group for about a decade, but due to the nature of its composition, they’ve never actually been on a tour together. Multi-talented perpetual motion machine, Anderson .Paak, and laid-back instrumental producer Knxwledge first teamed up in 2015 for the Link Up & Suede EP, followed by Yes, Lawd!, their debut LP, in 2016, but since then, various other projects have kept them (especially Andy) on the run.
However, with last year’s release of their second LP, Why, Lawd?, and its warm reception from fans, it looks like the time is right for them to finally hit the road together. Their first-ever headlining North American tour kicks off in Portland, Oregon on the 10th of September and runs through October 19th, when it concludes with a hometown show in Los Angeles at the famous Hollywood Palladium. We’re over half a year away from New Year’s Eve, but Snoop Dogg already has plans: It was announced yesterday (May 12) that he’ll be hosting Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve, a two-hour musical variety special. It’s set to air live from Miami starting on December 31 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
Jen Neal, executive VP of Live Events and Specials for NBCUniversal Entertainment, says in a statement (via Variety), “Snoop Dogg’s energy, influence and ability to bring people together promises an unforgettable night. We’re thrilled to partner with Snoop and bring this epic event to audiences across the country once again live from Miami.”
This follows Snoop’s recently announced deal with NBCUniversal that is also bringing him back to The Voice. Snoop said in a statement at the time, “Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home. The Dogg has officially moved into the neighborhood, ya dig?”
NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios Chairman Donna Langley also said, “Audiences around the world love Snoop and connect with his unparalleled showmanship and artistry. Those of us lucky enough to be in his orbit also know his incredible business acumen, endlessly creative spirit and the unapologetic authenticity that he brings to every project. There’s only one Snoop, and we’re so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners.”
Cardi B was one of many celebrities who watched the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics on Monday night to take a 3-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The You-loving rapper was joined in the front row by Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Michael J. Fox, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Ben Stiller, and John Leguizamo, as well as Stefon Diggs.
Cardi and the newly-signed New England Patriots wide receiver sat next to each other and arrived at Madison Square Garden together while holding hands, all but confirming the speculation that they’re dating.
According to People, “Monday night’s NBA game appeared to be their first time arriving at an event together and being seen publicly. For months, the pair was spotted attending the same events, but arrived separately.”
If the Knicks go all the way this year, maybe that will be the incentive Cardi needs to finish Album No. 2. She recently explained the reason why it’s taking so long for the follow-up to 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy. “I really need these f*cking features,” she said. “And it’s like I’m not really trying to press or go crazy on these artists because I love them down. But it’s like, come on now! I need that! I need that right now! Helloooo! Y’all don’t want to miss this opportunity. I’ll sing this sh*t myself! But I really need y’all and I need y’all to hurry up and I love y’all. I feel like nobody want to miss being on this album.”
It’s hard to call anybody other than “Weird Al” Yankovic the GOAT when it comes to comedy music. He’s become a pop culture staple, but that hasn’t translated to him getting into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, which John Mulaney thinks is a shame.
“I’m a big proponent of novelty music. I’m a big proponent of ‘Weird Al’ getting into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. This is one step closer, though I don’t know why they need to be led via steps. ‘Weird Al’ brought more people to music than is recognized at all.
I will, in fact, greatly devalue my coolness by saying [when I was young], it wasn’t until ‘Smells Like Nirvana’ defanged ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ that I could enjoy ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ It was scary at first. It just was like, ‘I’m pretty happy, I’m a kid.’ I needed a way in. And after you laugh at ‘Smells Like Nirvana,’ you go, ‘Oh, this is a really good song.’”
In a 2024 interview, Rock Hall chairman John Sykes noted that while Yankovic is on the Hall’s radar, currently, it seems unlikely he’ll make it onto the ballot: “‘Weird Al’ has come up in conversations. He’s a genius. He has made brilliant versions of the songs, but I’ll be honest: He’s never made it close to the ballot.”
