‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’: Everything To Know About The Scary Video Game Adaptation Sequel

Five Nights At Freddys 2 trailer top
YouTube

Film adaptations of video games can be hit or miss, but the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie from 2023 was a massive financial success, earning just under $300 million against a budget of a mere $20 million. Well, there’s more source material with the game series and money truly does talk, so a sequel is on its way.

Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, and others are back, reprising their roles from the first film, while Seinfeld and Jurassic Park icon Wayne Knight is among the additions to the cast this time around.

Ahead of the movie’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it hits theaters.

Plot

An official description reads:

“One year has passed since the supernatural nightmare at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The stories about what transpired there have been twisted into a campy local legend, inspiring the town’s first ever Fazfest. Former security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) have kept the truth from Mike’s 11-year-old sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), concerning the fate of her animatronic friends. But when Abby sneaks out to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, it will set into motion a terrifying series of events, revealing dark secrets about the true origin of Freddy’s, and unleashing a long-forgotten horror hidden away for decades.”

In a recent interview, Matthew Lillard said of the movie, “I think the storytelling’s been amped up a lot. […] I do think that the movie learned first time around, I think Scott, as a primary storyteller, listened to the audience. [It’s] what he does best. He knows that community so well. And I think that he’s responded with a script that… maybe it has more jump scares. Maybe it’s a little more action-packed. I don’t know. I’m not here to say ‘yes it is’ or ‘no it’s not.’ But I do think the fans are gonna love this next movie, and I think that they’re gonna be really excited come December.”

Cast

The movie stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Matthew Lillard, Theodus Crane, Skeet Ulrich, Mckenna Grace, Teo Briones, Freddy Carter, and Wayne Knight.

Jason Blum, co-founder of production company Blumhouse Productions, said in an interview of the film, “Scott [Cawthon] has just been an extraordinary partner, for me, through making these movies. [Director Emma Tammi], Matthew, and the cast is back but I’m working now with a Scott who’s been through the process, so he’s really got a magic superpower and he stays very, very close to these movies. He’s kind of the guiding light for these movies and the reason that fans respond to the movies the way that they do is because Scott’s involved in every aspect of them and I’m very grateful to him for that.”

Release Date

The film is set to hit theaters on December 5.

Khalid Issues Interactive Come-Ons In His VR-Enabled ‘Nah’ Video

Remember when we all thought VR was going to be way bigger than it actually turned out to be? Well, Khalid’s here to remind us of at least some of the possibilities of the tech with the video for “Nah,” from his new album After The Sun Goes Down.

The video is fairly straightforward, with scenes of Khalid singing the groovy single outside a nightclub and into a phone handset (with a cord and all! Y2K is back, baby!). But if you have a VR-enabled headset, you can look around (or manually pan on the YouTube clip above), to see more of the scene, including dancers gyrating to the track’s sinuous bassline.

In a press release for After The Sun Goes Down, which was released today in the wake of singles “Out Of Body” and “In Plain Sight,” Khalid said of the album:

“This is what freedom sounds like. It’s me completely vulnerable, honest, healing and unafraid. I’m proud of who I am, and the love I have to give, and I think there’s power in that. My hope is that my music will help uplift others & be a soundtrack for their journeys.”

Chance The Rapper Calmly Cruises In His ‘Ride Remix’ Video Featuring Chicago Legends Do Or Die And Twista

Chance The Rapper‘s comeback continues with co-signs from some of his hometown’s heroes. “Ride Remix,” the latest single from The Rapper’s new album, Star Line, features Do Or Die and Twista, without whom the Windy City’s entire rap subculture might not exist. And in old-school Chicago rap tradition, the song is built around a slinky snare rattle with lots of swing, a slippery G-funk lead synth, and a smooth R&B sample (One Way’s “Don’t Stop [Ever Loving Me]” from 1984).

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Do Or Die, Twista collab without double-time rhymes from the guest rappers (Do Or Die already appear on the original, but Twista is the remix addition). Their tongue-twisting styles bounce off Chance’s labyrinthine internal schemes in a fun way, and the beat transports you right back to 1996, when Do Or Die and Twista dropped their breakout single, “Po Pimp.” The Golden Era feel of the video helps, as Chance seemingly brings the whole city outside to cruise in Cadillacs with the tops down and show off their best footwork in the parking lot.

Chance is currently finishing up his And We Back Tour for Star Line, which wraps later this month at the Palladium in Los Angeles.

Alemeda And Doechii Threaten To ‘Beat A B!tch Up’ In Their Punky New Collaboration

Top Dawg Entertainment may well have had a reputation as one of the foremost labels in rap music for the past decade, but that doesn’t mean rap is all they do. The label is also home to Alemeda, an unapologetic alt-rocker who is unafraid to fly in the face of the “Black girls don’t do guitar music” stereotype. She’s got a new EP on the way, and today, she released a video for its defiant single, “Beat A B!tch Up,” featuring labelmate Doechii.

It’s a smart collab between two genre-bending Black women who refuse to shrink down to fit the various boxes the world tries to stick them in. They’re also both exactly the type to live up to the song’s fight-y title. In the video, the duo hosts a probably unsanctioned boxing match on the deck of a ship and rides jet skis around the harbor — real rock star sh*t. The video caps off with a fireworks display over the boat as Alemeda wails into the mic and headbangs alongside her all female backing band.

The single will appear on Alemeda’s upcoming EP, But What The Hell Do I Know, which is due on November 7, with distribution from Warner Records.

But What The Hell Do I Know Tracklist:

1. “1-800-F**K-YOU”
2. “Beat A B!tch Up” Feat. Doechii
3. “Chameleon” Feat. Rachel Chinouriri
4. “Happy With You”
5. “I’m Over It”
6. “Losing Myself”
7. “Stupid Little Bitch”

Clipse Teams Up With Mobb Deep On The Queens Rap Icons’ New Album, ‘Infinite’

Debates in hip-hop are common; even those not crammed into the dark corners of rap-focused internet discussion forums know about the “top five” debate. Another common, but more granular, version of that debate often comes in the form of “best rap duos.” The names in that one often boil down to some combination of Clipse, Mobb Deep, and Outkast.

Well, two of the above finally join forces on Mobb Deep’s new album, Infinite. Part of Mass Appeal’s ongoing Legend Has It… series, Infinite sees the late Prodigy posthumously reunited with his partner-in-rhyme Havoc courtesy of frequent collaborator The Alchemist, who pieced together the album from unused material Prodigy recorded prior to his death in 2017.

While the duos’ first collab, “Look At Me,” wasn’t the result of a focused studio session, it sounds surprisingly cohesive. Utilizing a Havoc beat, it sounds a little bit more like a Mobb Deep track with the reunited Clipse tacked on than a true collaboration, but Clipse sound right at home on the murky production, and lyrically, both groups have always tread similar thematic territory, so it works in that respect, as well.

Meanwhile, a true collaboration that also appears on Infinite, is the focus track “Down For You,” which features longtime Mobb collaborator Nas and Jorja Smith. In the accompanying music video, Havoc and the Mass Appeal boss pay homage to their late homie with a split screen narrative, perfoming across from images of a nurse caring for a group of patients hooked up to IVs. Check it out below.

Havoc will go on tour next month as Mobb Deep alongside Raekwon, celebrating the 30th anniversaries of their classic albums The Infamous and Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. He will also appear in comic book superhero form as part of Mass Appeal’s Legend Has It… collaboration with Marvel Comics.

Infinite is out now via Mass Appeal Records. You can find more info here.
