Sean Strickland Stunned Israel Adesanya To Claim The Middleweight Belt At UFC 293

Sean Strickland (28-5) stunned Israel Adesanya (24-3) in a decision victory to claim the UFC Middleweight title at UFC 293 from Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Adesanya was the aggressor out of the gate. While Strickland stood his ground and continued moving forward, it was Adesanya who looked for his range, mixing in kicks, strikes, and feints. With less than a minute remaining in the first round, Strickland hurt Adesanya bad with a straight right hand that sent the champion to the mat. Strickland jumped on him with a slew of shots, but Adesanya was able to escape the onslaught and survive for the second round.

In the second, Strickland brought his confidence with a measured attack on the champ. He walked down Adesanya, but the champ was much more active in the round in what was ultimately a strong round for Adesanya.

Between rounds, Strickland’s corner demanded more, including grappling and encouraged him to stop standing and watching Adesanya move. The third saw Strickland fall into the same pattern from the prior round as Adesanya opened up his combinations. Strickland caught Adesanya midway through the round with a counter left, but Adesanya wasn’t in any real danger. Strickland caught Adesanya with another counter left hook as the champ missed wildly, but again was able to pivot out of any danger.

After a handful of power shots from Strickland in the third, he came back out in the fourth and found his way into a sew of combinations. Adesanya went body-head-body over and again throughout the round, chipping away with body kicks and following with slight combinations to the head.

Heading into the fifth and final round, the margins were razor thin, with it being conceivable that Strickland had won three of the four. Adesanya operated with urgency in the final round, but Strickland kept moving forward, refusing to allow time for the champ to find any consistency in his shots.

Strickland stepped in after Dricus Du Plessis skipped out on the UFC’s offer for a title shot. Strickland came into Saturday night’s main event with consecutive wins in 2023 after losing both fights in 2022 at the hands of Alex Pereira and Jared Cannoneir.

Adesanya reclaimed his belt in a knockout of Pereira in April in their trilogy bout after dropping the title in November last year.

A Last-Minute Oregon Pick Six Handed Texas Tech Bettors The Bad Beat Of The Day In College Football

After Texas Tech lost in overtime on the road at Wyoming and Oregon hung 81 on Portland State in their opener, many raised an eyebrow when the Ducks were posted as just a 6.5-point favorite on the road in Lubbock on Saturday. That line continued dropping and for most of Saturday, the Red Raiders rewarded those who put their faith and funds behind them.

Texas Tech, led by former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough, led the Ducks deep into the fourth quarter, before a long drive led to an Oregon field goal with 1:10 on the clock put the Ducks up 31-30.

While that was bad for Texas Tech fans looking for the upset win, those that just had a financial stake in the Red Raiders plus the points still were in good shape. That was until they weren’t, as Shough got hit on a pass attempt on Texas Tech’s ensuing drive and the ball popped right to Jeffrey Bassa, who did not fall down (like he probably should have) to ensure a Ducks win, but instead rumbled 42 yards to the house to put Oregon up 8.

Shough would lead the Red Raiders back down the field to the Oregon 33 with under 10 seconds to play, but his last gasp heave to the end zone found the waiting arms of a Ducks defensive back rather than a Texas Tech receiver, preserving not only an Oregon win but a cover as well.

That and the finish to Ole Miss-Tulane represented the two worst beats of the day in college football — Ole Miss false started on a 4th and 1 Tulane stuffed down 7 (getting 7.5 to 13.5), then kicked a 56-yard field goal, and then got a scoop and score to cover every number under the sun. However, the Oregon-Texas Tech finished featured the most painful single play for bettors, and we can rest assured it will pop up Monday night on Scott Van Pelt’s SportsCenter.

Trump Voters Really Don’t Want Marjorie Taylor Greene To Be The Big Guy’s Running Mate

Donald Trump is crushing it in the polls, which is unfortunate because he might be going to jail. But if he doesn’t — or even if he does and he runs anyway, releasing stump speeches from the clink — he still has to pick a running mate. Luckily, there are plenty of Republicans to choose from. Alas, one of Trump’s biggest cheerleaders probably won’t get the gig, at least if it’s up to Trump supporters.

Newsweek conducted a new poll asking 1,500 Trump voters who they wanted to be on the bottom of the Trump 2024 ticket. Top spot did not go to Marjorie Taylor Greene, the loudest and most prolifically chaotic of MAGA lawmakers, who just last month claimed she was on the former president’s veep shortlist.

Sadly, she didn’t even get second place. Nor third. Heck, she didn’t even make the Top 10. Out of 15 spots, she scored 14th, ahead of last place winner Asa Hutchinson but behind Elsie Stefanik.

So who won the top slot? That went to new kid on the block, Obama-plagiarizing phrama bro Vivek Ramaswamy, who, like Trump, has had to contend with Chris Christie mockery. Second place went to “Don’t know,” showing how much energy the GOP exudes these days. Third actually went to Trump’s former veep, Mike Pence, but given their relationship since the 2020 election that’s probably not going to happen.

Some others who crushed Marjorie include Ron DeSantis (fourth), Trump kiss-up Kari Lake (fifth), Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy (seventh), his daughter Ivanka (ninth), and “Doesn’t matter to me” (10th). She also placed behind “Someone else” (12th). Sorry, Marge.

Lara Trump Has Spent Weeks Going On Television In Front Of A Background Boasting A Bizarre Typo

Donald Trump may be the presumptive nominee for the GOP’s presidential ticket, but otherwise he’s not doing so hot. On top of his four indictments, he’s got a trial popping off early next month. He could wind up losing a chunk of whatever left of his fortune or going to jail or both. Those around him aren’t faring well either. But folks like Mike Lindell and Rudy Giuliani, both left cash-strapped after helping the big, sure wish they had problems as small as Lara Trump’s.

As per Mediaite, for weeks the former president’s daughter-in-law has been going on Fox News, standing in front of a background shilling for a website called The Right View. Beneath it is a url, but if viewers tried to visit it they’d come up with nada. That’s because who ever designed it left in a little typo, in which the url begins with four w’s — i.e., “wwww.TheRightView.com.”

The gaffe has been left up for over a month, and it’s small enough that no one’s caught it till now. But it’s appeared on shows including Hannity and Jesse Watters Primetime. It’s even spread over to Newsmax, haunting shows like Rob Schmitt Tonight and The Balance with Eric Bolling.

Though Lara Trump isn’t a biological relation of the former president, she’s still somehow inherited his yen for weird typos.

You can see multiple examples of Lara Trump’s work over on Mediaite.

Latto & Coi Leray’s Supposedly Squashed Feud Has Gotten Even Messier Now That Their Parents Are Involved

Former First Lady Michelle Obama’s personal motto is: When they go low, we go high. That might work for her, but in the world of hip-hop, where feuding proves to be lucrative, turning the other cheek will never fly. Rappers Latto and Coi Leray’s bubbling beef is just one example of this.

What was thought to be a squashed feud has gotten even messier thanks to a new development: They got their parents involved. They each mentioned the other’s bodies in their respective songs, “Put It On Da Floor” (Latto) and “Isabel Marant” (Coi Leroy), which led fans to believe their beef was at an end. However, Latto’s recent verse on Young Nudy’s “Peaches & Eggplant (Remix)” has kicked things into overdrive.

“He wanna know if it’s real or it’s fake / I got a peach on the back like a plate / I got him eatin’ my booty on tape / I might expose him like 1090 Jake / He don’t eat pussy, he gots to go / Give me that neck like Benzino / Give me that neck like, ‘Where it go?’/One thumb in my bootyhole,” rapped Latto.

Well, Coi didn’t take kindly to Latto’s joke about her father Benzino’s neck. Shortly after, she took to her X (formerly Twitter) page to request the help of her followers. “Someone find me a pic of Karen,” wrote Coi, seemingly referring to Latto’s Caucasian mother.

On Saturday, September 8, Coi shared her father’s response to the lyrical jab. In a text message exchange with Coi, Benizo wrote, “She admires you. They all do. Just stay focused,” adding, “I got the most famous neck on Earth.”

Shedeur Sanders Broke Out The Deion Shuffle After A Touchdown As Colorado Dominated Nebraska

The biggest story in college football after Week 1 was the play of Colorado in their first game with Deion Sanders as head coach, as the overhauled Buffaloes roster with more transfers than any college football team ever went down to Forth Worth and beat TCU in a 45-42 shootout.

In Week 2, Colorado got to play their first home game and welcomed longtime rivals Nebraska to town for the highly anticipated home debut of Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, and the rest of the Buffaloes squad. It was a sluggish start, as the Huskers dictated the pace and Colorado struggled early with the physicality of Nebraska’s defense, ending the first quarter in a scoreless tie. However, the Colorado defense stayed strong all game and eventually the skill talent for the Buffs was able to hit its stride, with Sanders once again piling up 393 passing yards and two touchdowns, with 170 of those yards going to Xavier Weaver and 73 to Hunter, who authored yet another highlight with an ankle-breaking juke at midfield.

Late in the game, the Buffaloes had taken full control and put the icing on the win with a Sanders rushing touchdown up the middle. After popping up, Sanders broke out his father’s signature celebration dance, the Deion Shuffle, in a very cool moment.

You could tell he was trying to be fairly subtle with it, not wanting to attract a taunting penalty, but it’s incredibly cool to see him break out his dad’s dance with Deion on the sideline coaching him up. You know he’s done that dance a thousand times, but getting to do it in a big win over a rival had to be particularly sweet.

Travis Hunter Juked Two Nebraska Defenders Into Tackling Each Other

A week after stunning TCU on the road in a 45-42 shootout, Colorado returned to Boulder for the first home game of the Coach Prime era against longtime rivals Nebraska.

However, the explosive offense for the Buffaloes was kept in check early on by a stingy Huskers defense, as the two teams were scoreless through the first quarter. It was the Colorado defense that kickstarted things in the Buffs favor in the second quarter, as they pounced on a pair of Jeff Sims turnovers to set their offense up in plus territory. Shedeur Sanders was able to capitalize a bit, as Colorado’s offense put up 13 points in the second quarter to take a two score lead into halftime, but there was still some work to be done to open things up the way they had a week ago.

Among the focal points will probably be getting the ball to Travis Hunter, who only had two catches for 33 yards in the first half as Nebraska honed in on slowing down the two-way star. That said, his second catch yielded the highlight of the half, as he caught a pass over the middle and threw on the brakes, sending two Nebraska defenders crashing into each other on his way for a big gain.

There weren’t a lot of opportunities for Hunter to flash his athleticism on the offensive side of the ball, but this was a reminder of how much juice he has with the ball in his hands. Nebraska thought they had him bottled up just past the sticks, but that quick change of direction sent 33 to the deck, taking 4 out in the process and giving the Colorado faithful something to get loud about just before the half.

It’s not quite the diving interception from Week 1, but Hunter will hope to continue adding to his ever-growing highlight reel in the second half as the Buffs look to stretch out their halftime advantage.
