With warm weather approaching supporters of the “Sympathy Is A Knife” singer are ready to bring Brat summer back. But, Charli XCX, on the other hand, wants to put it to bed. Yesterday (April 19), Charli XCX said goodbye to Bratyet again this time at Coachella 2025 weekend two.
Instead of leaving fans high and dry, Charli XCX offered several alternatives. At the end of her set, on the screen Charli shouted other a dozen musicians. Each of the entertainers has teased or confirmed new music projects, all of which Charli XCX supporters can rally around this summer. In the clip (viewable here), Charli showed love to fellow recording artists Addison Rae, Lorde, PinkPantheress, Haim, Yung Lean, Ethel Cain, Kali Uchis, Pulp, Perfume Genius, Rosalia, Carolina, Turnstile, ASAP Rocky, Blood Orange, Bon Iver, and more.
Charli XCX also paid homage to filmmakers Aidan Zamiri, Ari Aster, and Kogonada. After screenshots of the graphics were shared across social media, many of the highlighted entertainers returned the love.
“Thanks for thinking of me, Charli boots,” wrote Kali Uchis on Instagram.
When Snoop Dogg announced his forthcoming gospel album, Altar Call, fans thought he was done promoting his latest project Missionary. However, it appears the “Outta Da Blue” rapper was simply waiting for the perfect moment to spark his creativity. Today (April 20) the time has come as a nod to every stoners’ favorite holiday.
Over on Snoop Dogg’s YouTube channel he shared his official music video for Missionary track “Last Dance With Mary Jane” featuring Jelly Roll and the late Tom Petty. Behind only Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg is considered to be the Godfather of Weed.
But Snoop’s relationship with reefer runs deeper than a casual puff. Within the song, Snoop rapped about the lifelong tie to weed. “Don’t bother asking me to ever give my lady up / Was about five years old taking my first puff / It was love at first light, fell in love the first night / My uncle told me, ‘Don’t rush, this could be your first crush’ / Now I’m on the block with all the homies and it’s a family affair / Seventeen with a dream, blowing smoke in the air,” raps Snoop.
In the video, directed by Dave Meyers, those trippy tales are brought to life with a blend of hallucinogenic real-life and animated aids. Animator Temple Caché effortlessly weaved in Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Jelly Roll with depictions of Petty, Tupac, Bob Marley, Redman, Method Man, B-Real, and Wiz Khalifa.

Sports are filled with rivalry. The same animosity exists within music–just take a look at last year’s string of chart-topping rap beefs. But a new cross genre conflict has users online baffled.
Green Day and Charli XCX’s fan-fueled issue has become a topic of conversation during Coachella 2025. After Charli XCX leaned into the discourse around the band headlining over her, Green Day issued a response.
During their final performance at Coachella 2025 weekend two, Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong wore a neon green ‘Brat’ hat (viewable here) seemingly to troll Charli XCX fans in the crowd.
Green Day’s drummer Tré Cool took it a step further. In the band’s trailer, Cool is seen sporting a sash which reads: “Actual headliner.” The DIY piece is a direct jab at Charli XCX.
At a Coachella 2025 weekend one after-party, Charli XCX donned a “Miss Should Be Headliner” sash. While the move brought joy to her fans, Green Day fans found it to be disrespectful (or dare I say bratty).
2024 was undoubtedly a breakout yet year for Charli XCX thanks to her Brat album. Given that alone, Charli XCX could have easily been one of this year’s headliners. But placing Charli XCX over rock legends Green Day is where the controversy starts.
Yesterday (April 19), the Grand National Tour kicked off at at Minneapolis, Minnesota’s U.S. Bank Stadium. This means all eyes were on the performances’ co-headliners Kendrick Lamar and SZA.
Given the musicians’ decorated solo discographies and joint collaborations, concertgoers were curious about the show’s layout. With the North American run’s first show done, they duo landed on splitting the show into acts. Acts II, IV, and VII are dedicated to SZA’s past releases. But during Acts V and IX, SZA and Kendrick Lamar treated fans to joint sets.

Apple TV+ is second to none for sci-fi streaming original series and has been bolstering its comedy supply, but they’re steadily cranking away in the crime drama department to thrilling ends. From Presumed Innocent (which adapted Scott Turow’s same-named book and will continue in anthologized form), Defending Jacob (starring Chris Evans in a very different-for-him role), and The Crowded Room (in which Tom Holland might destroy you) to Black Bird (a limited series for which Paul Walter Houser won an Emmy), the tech giant’s streaming service tackles difficult legal terrain with an unflinching TV eye, and Dennis Lehane’s Smoke promises to be no exception.
This limited series (that’s the current categorization anyway) will be coming this summer, so let’s clear away the smoke and mirrors on what to expect.
Plot
Taron Egerton (who also earned an Emmy nod with Black Bird) hasn’t shied away from thrillers lately, and after his raging success with Netflix’s Carry-On, he’s with law enforcement on Smoke, which was created by crime-fiction author and The Wire writer Dennis Lehane, who also penned Smoke and is the famed novelist of Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island, and Mystic River, all of which translated into acclaimed and crowd-pleasing big-screen adaptations.
Smoke is not entirely based upon true events but is inspired by them, and Apple TV+ describes the show as “follow[ing] a troubled detective and an enigmatic arson investigator as they pursue the trails of two serial arsonists.” Is there any other TV detective variety beyond “troubled” these days? That the term is so arguably overused speaks to its continued success and endless permutations that keep audiences coming back.
Precise plot details remain secret at present, but Lehane is well known for his hard-boiled protagonists, so we can probably presume that this will be the case here. Smollett, in particular, has already lent that cynical air to several roles, including Birds Of Prey (yes, really), The Order, and Lovecraft Country. And although Lehane is widely known for setting crime drama stories in Boston, Apple TV+ hasn’t dropped any clues that this will be the case for Smoke. Maybe some BTS footage will reveal the setting soon, but for now, hang tight.
Cast
Apple TV+
Alongside Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett, Smoke co-stars John Leguizamo, Anna Chlumsky, Greg Kinnear, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Rafe Spall, and Hannah Emily Anderson.
Release Date
Currently intended as a limited series, Smoke will debut two episodes on Friday, June 27 with weekly additions until August 8.
Trailer
No trailer has surfaced yet for Smoke, but have you watched Black Bird on Apple TV+ yet?
Since his breakout role as Burt Macklin, I mean, Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt has been one of the busiest stars in Hollywood. He was the face of two franchises, Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy (which makes him the third highest-grossing actors of all-time), and a voice in two more, The Lego Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
It’s become increasingly rare to find a non-franchise, non-pre-existing property in his filmography, but not impossible: The Tomorrow War is an original science-fiction film, a rarity these days. It’s also pretty good!
Could there be a sequel? Here’s everything we know about The Tomorrow War 2, including plot details and returning cast members.
Plot
The Tomorrow War begins in 2022, when time-traveling soldiers from 2051 interrupt a World Cup game with some bad news: mankind is doomed to lose a global war against a deadly alien species unless thousands of citizens from the present are transported forward in time to fight. One of those heroes is Dan Forester (played by Chris Pratt), who joins Charlie (Sam Richardson), Dorian (Edwin Hodge), Norah (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Cowan (Mike Mitchell), and a military scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) in the battle against the “white spikes.”
The Tomorrow War has a definitive ending, but since the movie was a huge hit streaming hit for Amazon (it was initially going to debut in theaters, but the pandemic messed up those plans), there’s been talks of a sequel.
In 2021, Deadlinereported that “discussions are in place to bring the whole creative gang back both in front of and behind the camera including director Chris McKay and screenwriter Zach Dean… Paramount is also involved in the sequel; the studio originally attached to distribute the first film theatrically.”
There’s been a few promising updates since then, including McKay confirming to Uproxx in 2023 that “there is a script coming.” More recently, Dean (who also penned The Gorge with Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller) told Comic Book that the script is “progressing.” Here’s more:
Dean also took a moment to praise star Chris Pratt, who is set to return in the follow-up. “One of the great things about Chris is it’s so easy to empathize and get into his character’s [head],” the writer said. “He’s so disarming in terms of his humor and he’s also really emotional as an actor.” Though Dean stated “family thematics” will continue to play a key role in the franchise, The Tomorrow War 2 takes things in a slightly different direction. “[I]t takes a very different version but of similar of ideas. Things that could have gone a darker way.”
If it’s not called The 2morrow War, what are we even doing here?
Cast
Not everyone from The Tomorrow War could return for the sequel since some of their characters, y’know, died, but it’s still worth running down the original film’s cast, led by Chris Pratt. There’s also Yvonne Strahovski, J.K. Simmons (pre-jacked Santa, but still pretty jacked), the always-delightful Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson (who should honestly be in everything), Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Keith Powers, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Mike Mitchell. I think I speak for all Doughboys fans when I say: wow.
Release Date
Since The Tomorrow War 2 hasn’t even been officially announced, there’s no release date.
Trailer
One thing I like to do (because I clearly have too much free time) is read recent YouTube comments for movie trailers that came out years ago. Here’s one from five months ago for The Tomorrow War: “THE TOMORROW WAR is the ALIEN WAR.” Damn. Something to think about.
Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.
10. G20 – Amazon MGM Studios movie streaming on Prime Video
When he’s not Homelander on The Boys, Antony Starr is getting his butt kicked by Viola Davis. At least, that’s what happened with Davis’ presidential character found herself as a target at the G20 summit. Starr was actually thrilled for the experience while adding on Instagram, “The signs were there all along…. I was gonna get my ass whupped. I’m glad it was you.” Then he added a “#blondesnothavingfun” hashtag. Poor Homie.
Hub Halloran (Kevin Bacon) received much more than he bargained for after that deal with the devil did not resolve as planned. Ideally, Amazon will announce a renewal so that the Lilith situation might receive resolution, but even if that doesn’t happen, the first season of this series drop kicks enough horror tropes to make this show a hellish ride worth taking. Bacon is also back in business soon with Sirens on Netflix, which will have the same sort of fun with Greek mythological references, so he’s doing just fine, thank you.
8. Companion – New Line Cinema film streaming on Max
Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid star in this twisted romance that explores what happens when the final girl of a horror movie might actually be a robot. The trailer wasn’t subtle about the potentially sadistic elements of this movie’s setup, but an endless series of rug pulls will keep people guessing. Thatcher went on record to assure viewers that the movie was both “really funny” and “really layered,” and although the movie didn’t do gangbusters at the box office, at least a swift arrival on streaming might build some loyalists.
Netflix is churning out romcom films like theaters in the 1990s, but instead of shelling out double digits at the multiplex, you can find comfort on your couch while watching a movie that probably would have starred Kate Hudson and an inexplicably shirtless Matthew McConaughey a few decades ago. Sofia Carson stars as Alex Rose, who finds herself on a self-discovery journey after the death of her mother (Connie Britton). She conditions the inheritance upon fulfilling the “life list” dreamed up by her teenage self. This ordeal includes choosing between dudes because, duh, it’s a romcom.
Well, this week’s finale episode promised some sort of army of heroes coming in the second season, so yeah, I think we’re gonna need more of Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher. Krysten Ritter has also made it known that she is down for more Jessica Jones, so perhaps we shall see more scarf-and-jean magic coming to Disney+. And I don’t think enough people have realized yet that Margarita Levieva has been catching a raw deal on series cancellations for years (that In From The Cold development still feels wrong), and finally, she’s on the train for a followup.
This wickedly fun animated adaptation proves that a sharp-dressed frontman rarely goes out of style. It doesn’t hurt that, in this case, the role is filled by a roguish, aesthetically-pleasing demon hunter who gallantly conquers high-octane action sequences while saving humanity with a flourish. Of course, a cliffhanger ending will be followed by more after Dante ended up on ice after being hauled away by Darkcom. Another successful video game adaptation is in the books, proving that the Hollywood powers that be are finally delivering the crowd pleasing goods (Minecraft, Fallout, The Last Of Us) by staying faithful to the source material.
A post-Landman Jon Hamm returns to his The Morning Show stomping grounds to throw off vague Don Draper vibes as a hedge funder whose personal and professional lives melt down. He reacts by stealing from his so-called friends in his affluent community, but he discovers that an even greater risk than thievery will be found within those acquaintances’ secret lives. Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn co-star in this show that’s already been renewed with James Marsden hopping into the second season cast.
The Testaments sequel series is currently in the works (also with Bruce Miller as showrunner) to extend Margaret Atwood’s tales of Gilead, but before that happens, we can consider why, exactly, anybody would choose to come back from Canada after escaping the show’s hellscape. Also, what the hell is Serena Joy plotting, if anything at all? Elisabeth Moss previously hinted that the relationship between June and Selena would be a large part of this season, and ideally, the both Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia will receive massive comeuppance before all is said and done.
Tom Hardy lovers are feasting with Havoc landing soon and the ongoing suspense on whether he will be back to frenemy-it-up with Tommy Shelby as Alfie Solomons in the Peaky Blinders movie. For now, however, it’s much more than a consolation prize to see Hardy as a fixer in Guy Ritchie’s newest TV series that also happens to co-star Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine. Talk of a second season is already happening after this show scored a successful debut in the land of Taylor Sheridan shows.
To celebrate the return of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey’s return as Joel and Ellie, we asked a pressing question about the scariest zombies in popular culture. Personally, I’m going with the 28 Days Later rage-virus crowd, but a convincing argument could be made for the Romero’s lumbering yet relentless variety, too. This HBO series will officially persist for three seasons, and fingers are duly crossed that this season will conclude without giving Kaitlyn Dever too much stress about toxic fandom’s Abby obsession. Geez.
Yesterday (April 18), Tyla performed her final set during Coachella 2025 weekend two. To savor the moment, Tyla allowed attendees to join in on the vocal efforts. Unfortunately, one supporter went overboard. In a now-viral clip (viewable here), Tyla and a fan can be seen tussling over her microphone.
As Tyla sang her track “No.1,” a festivalgoer eagerly reached out to sing along. While Tyla held the microphone out to the fan, they were overcome with excitement. With a canned beverage in one hand and the microphone firmly grasped in the other, the festivalgoer sang part of her song “Water.” But when Tyla attempted to take the microphone back to move on, the attended seemingly would not let go. Eventually, security stepped in to stop the unintended game of tug of war.
Users online called out the attendee, writing: “This guy was not letting go off Tyla’s mic .”
Tyla reposted the video, writing: “Like damn .”
Seeing Tyla eventually found the awkward exchange humorous, supporters flooded her replied with jokes.
“Singing ‘Water’ while ‘No.1’ is clearly playing is killing me…he was just there for the vibes,” wrote one user on X.
Wale is known for many things–atop the list is recording artist. But fans of the “Blanco” rapper are also aware of his other entertainment passions which includes sneakers and wrestling.
For a decade, Wale has honored his love of wrestling with the annual event, WaleMania. Sadly, WaleMania is officially no more. Shortly after wrapping up WaleMania’s tenth anniversary at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas’
The Linq Promenade, Wale announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it was the final installment.
“I hope everybody has a great time tonight,” he wrote. “This will be the final Walemania. Ten years lots of memories. Thank u to everybody who has showed up and showed out.”
When asked why he decided to end the yearly celebration of hip-hop and wrestling, Wale shared a brutally honest answer.
“[It] was a labor of love,” he replied to a user. “I’m not in love anymore.”
While many were blind sided by Wale’s decision. Wale claimed that writing had been on the wall for some time.
“Anybody who been paying attention knew this was inevitable,” he added. “This the last hurrah.”
Wale has not teased any other original programming to take its place. Instead, he confidently chucked up the deuces. Then in a separate post, Wale encouraged fans to “enjoy the weekend” as he promoted his latest single.
