The nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards were revealed last week, and it turns out that the first Wicked movie did pretty well. It’s in the running for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media and Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media (Film & TV), while Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s “Defying Gravity” is up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Erivo’s “Be Okay,” from her 2025 album I Forgive You, is also nominated in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental Or A Cappella category.

Throughout their efforts promoting Wicked and the upcoming Wicked: For Good, Grande and Erivo have made headlines for their public appearances, which are often overflowing with emotion. It’s not a big surprise, then, that when the two learned about their new Grammy nods, feelings were had.

While in Paris on the Wicked: For Good press tour last week, the pair were told about their nominations. In a video of the moment, the two are overjoyed, with Grande wiping tears from Erivo’s eyes at one point.

Christy Martin’s life story is fascinating. She was one of the most notable female boxers of the ’90s and beyond, then, in 2010, she was stabbed and shot by her husband. Clearly, her life has been fulls of high highs and low lows, and the story is told in the new movie Christy.

Sydney Sweeney stars as the boxer and she put her all into the performance: An anecdote that has frequently been shared is how Sweeney gained 30 pounds for the part. In the lead-up to the film, there was some buzz that Sweeney might be swinging for an Oscar nomination with this serious role.

Plot

An official synopsis reads, “Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia — until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster). But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it — confronting family, identity, and a relationship that just might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life.”

In an Instagram post shared following the movie’s release (and following reports of disappointing box office numbers), Sweeney wrote:

“i am so deeply proud of this movie.

proud of the film david made. proud of the story we told. proud to represent someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin. this experience has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

this film stands for survival, courage, and hope. through our campaigns, we’ve helped raise awareness for so many affected by domestic violence. we all signed on to this film with the belief that christy’s story could save lives.

The movie stars Sydney Sweeney, Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, Ethan Embry, Coleman Pedigo, Jess Gabor, Chad L. Coleman, Tony Cavalero, Bill Kelly, Bryan Hibbard, Gilbert Cruz, Naomi Graham, Adrian Lockett, and Stephanie Baur.

In an interview with Variety, Foster said of working with Sweeney:

“There always seems to be a bit of hoopla around her. Positive or negative, she seems to provoke a reaction. But that is not the person I first met. I only know Syd as a sensitive human, utterly professional, kind to the crew, prepared, looked everybody in the eye, remembered their names. To me, that’s an old-school value system that I don’t see in a lot of people in her position.”

The film is in theaters now following its November 7 debut.

Last week, the nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards were announced. (The ceremony is set to take place on February 1, 2026, live at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, broadcast via CBS and Paramount Plus.) At the 2025 Grammys, Benson Boone was nominated for Best New Artist (Chappell Roan won), but for the 2026 show, he didn’t get any nominations.

Boone is taking the lack of recognition in stride, though: On an Instagram Story post shared yesterday (November 11), he poked fun at his “Mystical Magical” lyrics, writing, “Can’t believe moonbeam ice cream didn’t get a Grammy nom it’s literally pure lyrical genius.”

Boone has frequently shown that he’s capable of knocking himself down a peg. At Governors Ball earlier this year, he said in response to a fan, “Did you just say, ‘Do a flip?’ What show do you think this is? It’s all I do!”

Weeks later, he shared a video for “Mr Electric Blue,” which is full of self-digs. In the opening shot, he wears a shirt that says “one-hit wonder.” Later, his fictional manager suggests that instead of backflips and “moonbeam ice cream,” Benson try “good songwriting,” to which Boone protests, “You know I can’t do that.” The visual ends with the agent saying he sold Boone’s musical catalog to “retail chains, fast food chains, and movie theaters” so he’ll be “the most over-played artist in the world.” Boone exclaims in response, “That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Yes!”

Wet Leg just released a new album, Moisturizer, in July. There’s no such thing as too much Wet Leg, though, so fans are already eager for their next LP to drop. They might not have to wait too long, it turns out, as it’s apparently already finished.

In a Radio X interview with the band’s Rhian Teasdale and Josh Mobaraki (as NME notes), towards the end of the conversation, host John Kennedy asked if the band has made any progress on a new album, which would be their third. Teasdale said plainly, “It’s done.”

The host, amazed, asked, “It’s done?! Amazing. Where on Earth did you find the time to do that?” Teasdale responded, “I know, with Mobaraki adding, “Not on Earth.”

Summer Walker has been having a lot of fun with the rollout of her upcoming album, Finally Over It, now that she’s revealed when it’s coming out (this Friday, November 14th). The Atlanta-bred singer has gone all-in on the album’s “marriage of convenience” theme, from its matrimonial cover photo to today’s reveal for its features, which takes the form of a reception seating chart.

There’s a long list of invitees, too, from Walker’s fellow ATLiens, like 21 Savage and Latto, to a who’s-who of R&B cousins with similar sounds, such as Mariah The Scientist and Sailorr. Considering the majority of the names, I wouldn’t expect the album’s wedding theme to undercut Summer’s favored toxic shenanigans, which is good news for fans of her heartbroken borderline exasperated take on modern relationships.

Times are good for goose-related indie-rock bands. Geese’s Getting Killed is one of the year’s best albums while Goose have been similarly crushing it, playing their first headlining show at Madison Square Garden this past summer. Those who didn’t get to see Goose at MSG (and those who did) have some good news today (November 10), as the band announced new tour dates for 2026.

The new run of shows goes down in April and will see the band play in North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Mexico. Pre-sale sign-ups are available now via the band’s website. The pre-sale starts November 12 at 10 a.m. local time. The general on-sale starts November 14 at 10 a.m. local time. This Is Lorelei (Nate Amos) is in the process of giving his back catalog some love. Last month, he announced Holo Boy, a collection of re-recorded songs from across his discography. We’ve Heard “Name That Band” so far, and today (November 10), he returns with the title track.

The 90-second recording is a lo-fi rock quick-hitter. In a statement, Amos says, “‘Holo Boy’ was originally written in Chicago sometime in 2014 or 2015. I’m pretty sure it’s the oldest song on the album and I’m pretty sure it’s one of my favorites.”

Amos previously explained how he selected the songs to appear on Holo Boy, “I tried to look at the catalog as little as possible and more just think to myself, ‘What are songs from the past that I feel like are good songs, demonstrate growth, and are significant to me, in terms of embodying a certain period of time?’”

With his second album, Backward coming on January 30, St. Louis singer Jordan Ward has announced the dates for The Apartment tour supporting it. Starting in February in Vancouver, BC, at Hollywood Theatre, the tour will feature supporting artists Asha Imuno, Nate Curry, Nali, and Planet Giza. Ward, who played Tyler The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival about one year ago, spent much of 2024 building on the buzz from his 2023 debut Forward, last toured with JID and Smino on their Luv Is 4ever tour, but will be headlining this time around.

For at least one weekend every summer, Madrid, Spain is the place to be when the Mad Cool Festival is underway. Next year, the milestone tenth-anniversary edition is going down from July 8 to 11, and today (November 10), the lineup was announced.

Charli XCX previously described the music she wrote for the new film adaptation of Wuthering Heights as having an “elegant and brutal sound palette,” adding, “It couldn’t be more different from Brat.” Well, she wasn’t lying.

Today (November 10), Charli shared soundtrack cut “House,” a collaboration with The Velvet Underground icon John Cale. As eerie strings play, Cale says in a spoken-word intro:

“Can I speak to you privately for a moment? I just want to explain, explain the circumstances I find myself in, what and who I really am. I’m a prisoner, to live for eternity. I was thinking, ‘What is this place?’ I thought it would be perfect. I thought, ‘I want it to be perfect.’ Please. Let it be perfect. Am I living in another world, another world I created? For what? If it’s beauty, do you see beauty? If there’s beauty, say it’s enough.”

Then, he and Charli repeat together, “I think I’m gonna die in this house.”

This comes shortly after she told Gwyneth Paltrow, “I really like to work in contrast, so I think whatever I do next will just inherently be different to Brat because that’s what feels natural. I’m exploring a lot of stuff with strings at the moment, which I’m really enjoying. I haven’t really worked in that space before.”
