We develop all sorts of habits that may affect our well-being as well as our household. Roommates often take shortcuts and use unconventional cleaning practices because they’re lazy, cheap, or simply don’t know any better. One of the most common is to use dish soap instead of laundry detergent. Then, there’s only the need to buy one product instead of two, right?

Is it okay to use dish soap in place of laundry detergent? Well, there are contrasting opinions. They have different formulas, so you probably don’t want to use dish soap for your clothes.

Let’s understand a few of the differences:

• Laundry detergent is formulated to remove dirt, odors, and stains. Dish soap is formulated to break down food and grease.
• Dish soap will produce more foam, which can wreak havoc inside of a washing machine.
• Laundry detergent is made to rinse out completely, while dish soap may leave residue on clothes. This residue can also lead to skin irritations and cause clothes to feel greasy or stiff.

Once you take these differences into consideration, you run into quite a few problems with subbing dish soap for laundry detergent. You could damage your washing machine, destroy the integrity of the fabrics you wash with dish soap, and end up with skin allergies or even dermatitis.

There’s a reason why both laundry detergent and dish soap exist. They are each specifically designed for specific things. While it may be easier to use one product for both, you won’t get desirable results. You certainly won’t save money if you end up using dish soap in your washing machine if you have to replace the machine or buy new clothes.

Cleaning the windows of your home is an important task that should be done with some frequency. It will allow the light to shine without any issues. Now, some people will clean the windows beautifully on a monthly basis or so but leave a single smudge on purpose. It sounds crazy, so let’s figure out what’s going on with this ritual.

The Chore of Cleaning Windows

Window cleaning is one of those necessary chores. It helps to get rid of all the grime and such that accumulates on the glass. For some, it is quite meditative. Regardless of how you view the task of cleaning windows, you’ll want your towels or cloths and a good glass cleaner in hand.

Why the Smudge?

After you go through all the work of getting your windows looking as clean as possible, why would you deliberately leave a smudge?

It’s all about being perfectly imperfect.

In today’s world, there’s such a focus on being flawless. However, leaving a smudge allows you to exercise your autonomy. You’re choosing to show that it’s possible to have beauty along with an imperfection.

There is a long historical context in many cultures that embraces leaving something imperfect. It’s symbolic. It helps to acknowledge that humans aren’t perfect. It ensures you exercise a bit of humility.

Even in architecture, it is common to have a small, intentional flaw that reminds everyone of the human touch.

When you clean your windows, the smudge is your way of proving that you’re human.

Paprika is used in all sorts of cuisines, which is why it’s such a must-have spice in the kitchen. It has caused a bit of a commotion on social media recently, with many people shocked and even disappointed by how paprika is produced.

Nutra Organic, an Australian Instagram influencer, decided to do some research and posed this comment, “Learning that paprika is just dried and crushed red capsicum was really shocking. I don’t know why I thought there was a paprika tree somewhere.”

Many people had a similar thought – you mean there’s no paprika tree? Sadly, there is not.

Red capsicum is a sweet and mild pepper. It is dried, crushed, and ground in order to produce paprika.

The confusion about the origins of the spice is because many people thought it was a distinct plant. Instead, it is simply sourced from a pepper.

In order to get the paprika bright red, the peppers are harvested when they turn red. This is what allows the peak flavor and sweetness to be achieved.

In most instances, the capsicum peppers are air-dried or placed through a dehydration machine. Once sufficiently dried, it is ground into a fine powder. This means that people, should they want to, can make their own paprika.

It’s probably easier to store buy it, and you may want to always have some on hand, whether it’s to use in a spice blend, as part of a stew or marinade, or even to sprinkle on your dish as part of the garnish.

It looks like Lil Baby is ready to get back to work. Today, he released his first new song since the first quarter of 2025, “Try To Love.” Its music video, which was shot in Morocco, finds a contemplative Lil Baby on vacation, with a gorgeous view and a lot on his mind. “Thought I found love in Chicago / But she didn’t hit me back in the morrow / I guess all those words were just hollow / Thought I found in love in Atlanta / Until she went ghost like a phantom / I don’t know why, I try to love,” he muses.

It’s been a little while since we last heard from Lil Baby — or maybe it just seems longer because a LOT has happened since then. After the release of his new album WHAM, fans eagerly awaited its promised follow-up Dominique, which was initially slated for February. The album, which started life as a deluxe edition of WHAM, was extended into a companion for that album, but was delayed in March, and eventually canceled altogether.

While Lil Baby has yet to officially announce a new album or release date, his fans have taken to speculating that his next release will be called The Leak$, and that it will feature collaborations with Playboi Carti, Young Thug, and Lil Yachty.

Holly Humberstone has been on the up-and-up over the past few years. In 2024, the UK singer-songwriter had her first-ever headlining tour of North America. Also that year, she opened for Taylor Swift for The Eras Tour in London.

Those major events were preceded by her 2023 album Paint My Bedroom Black. Now she seems to be prepping another LP (although one hasn’t been officially announced): Today (November 5), she shared a cinematic new single, “Die Happy.”

In a statement, Humberstone says of the song:

“I wrote ‘Die Happy’ thinking about a fairytale at night, somewhere between driving fast with the windows down and wandering through a crumbling old house. I took inspiration from The Bloody Chamber and Dracula and I wanted to show the feeling of throwing yourself into love fully and recklessly. There is danger in love.”

A press release also notes that her “new chapter reflects deeper stability and agency, while understanding that pleasure and pain exist side by side,” with Humberstone adding, “In order to feel extreme happiness, you have to know extreme sadness.”

M3GAN has been a culture-defining sci-fi horror franchise over the past few years. We have the original movie, M3GAN 2.0, and soon, we’ll have our first spin-off, SOULM8TE.

The topic of AI is especially relevant now given how rapidly the technology is evolving in terms of its use in consumer-level products. SOULM8TE tackles the inevitable next step: applying those ideas for… intimate purposes.

Ahead of the movie’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it hits theaters.

Plot

The logline reads (via Deadline), “In SOULM8TE, a man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.”

In an Entertainment Weekly interview, producer James Wan said:

“M3GAN, obviously, dabbles in the PG-13 world, the younger demographic. We always felt like there might be a more adult story to tell, and that’s really what SOULM8TE is. SOULM8TE is basically set in the same AI world but seen through a more grown-up perspective, one that embraces all the great erotic thrillers from the ’90s. It’s like Fatal Attraction but with robots.”

Cast

The movie stars Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, Claudia Doumit, Oliver Cooper, Steve Chusak, Ossian Perret, Emma Ramos, Isabelle Bonfrer, Robert Ashe, Jon Tarcy, Harleen Sahota, and Charlie Kranz.

Of the robots in the film, Allison Williams, a star of the M3GAN movies and an executive producer of the new one, told EW, “It’s already happening in parts of the world. These exist. So it felt irresistible to then say, if a M3GAN existed in our world, someone would take that tech and put it in the form of a female-bodied person whose sole purpose on the planet is to pleasure a person. We extrapolate from there.”

Release Date

The film is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026.

A SOULM8TE trailer has not yet been released, although one was shared at CinemaCon earlier this year.

When it comes time for Jeremy to guess Bk’s life anthem, it’s a tough choice between a pair of standout, timeless songs from two of Black music’s most iconic acts.

Here’s how it works: Jeremy plays two songs for the guest artist, who has to choose one and explain their choice, giving Jeremy a chance to learn their musical taste. Jeremy then has to guess the artist’s life anthem, the song they’d take to a desert island, which the guest wrote down earlier on a piece of paper. Our production team has also given him a decoy song, and Jeremy has to guess which is correct based on what he’s learned in the previous rounds.

In recent days, The 1975 fans have noticed something different about 2022’s Being Funny In A Foreign Language: There’s a song missing. When the album was initially released, between “Wintering” and “About You” was a song called “Human Too,” which as of now has been removed from streaming services.

Fans wondered what was going on and Matty Healy himself personally delivered an answer. On Reddit, Healy explained why the song is gone and revealed that the band may cut a song from Notes On A Conditional Form, too. He wrote:

“Hey! Human Too was removed from the album so the album is more how I want it to be. Previous physical release obviously remain the same. I doubt the same will happen with any other records as I am pretty happy with them outside of ‘What should I say’ from Notes On A Conditional Form. So that may also be removed who knows. Sending love, Matty xxx.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Jamie Oborne, the band’s manager, teased a new album on the way, saying, “They’re making a record at the moment. I don’t know when it will come out, but they’re making one. […] It’s already a pretty extraordinary record. […] I think they’ve earned the right to take their time. The world’s gonna be listening, so it needs to be right.”

Laufey has left her mark on the holiday season over the past few years, starting with the 2021 release of A Very Laufey Holiday. Annually since then, she has added new recordings to the project. Last year, for instance, she recorded a version of “Santa Baby” that came with a video featuring Bill Murray.

This year’s addition is out today (November 5), as Laufey shares a rendition of “Santa Claus Is Comin’ To Town,” the holiday standard first published in 1934. Laufey’s performance is done in a classic vocal jazz style, a perfectly festive choice for the classic song.

For the past couple of weeks, there’s been a lot of chatter about a lack of rap songs in the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Since the publication changed the rules to promote more movement on the chart, a bunch of hip-hop tracks fell off after hanging out for truly ridiculous runs.

But the hand-wringers and worrywarts can slow down their heart rates: Megan Thee Stallion has arrived to save the day. Her new single “Lover Girl” has brought rap back to the top 40 after a two-week absence, landing at No. 38 despite a less-than-enthusiastic reception from many listeners.

The last rap song in the top 40 was Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther,” which spent 13 weeks at No. 1, and became both artists’ highest-charting, longest-running hit at 46 total weeks. But Billboard had been fretting the lack of turnover on the chart, with few new songs entering because of long-tail recurrent hits from nearly a year ago.

There are probably questions to be asked about why any of this stuff matters (there are literally billions of songs available across like eight streaming services, and you can listen to whatever you want, whether it’s a hit or not, to say nothing of the hundreds of classic rap tracks that never reached top 40 status), but the kerfuffle can at least die down a bit, thanks to in part to Klay Thompson, who has helped end rap’s top 40 drought the way he helped end Golden State’s championship drought. The universe is funny like that.
