What Does Kim Kardashian Say About Kanye West On Drake’s ‘Search & Rescue’?

It’s officially New Music Friday, and of the slew of new tracks that dropped at midnight, what has so far stood out the most is Drake’s new one, “Search & Rescue.” The track has actually been making headlines for a few days now, when Drake previewed it and revealed it featured a sample of Kim Kardashian talking about her and Kanye West’s divorce.

What exactly does Kardashian say about Kanye West on Drake’s “Search & Rescue?”

The sample is of a conversation between Kardashian and Kris Jenner, from an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The exchange goes:

Kardashian: “I didn’t come this far just to come this far and not be happy.”
Jenner: “OK, that’s fair.”
Kardashian: “Remember that.”
Jenner: “You didn’t come this far just to come this far.”
Kardashian: “Yup. I saw it on the internet [laughs].”

Part of that conversation can be seen in this video:

In that same episode (but not on the Drake song), Kardashian also said:

“I just feel like I’ve worked so hard in life to achieve everything that I’ve wanted to, and I’ve lived up to my expectations and achieved ten times more than I even thought was humanly possible, but I don’t have a life to share that with. Like, I do — obviously my kids and everything — but am I just going to sit here and think, ‘OK, my kids fulfill me and I’m good?’

I never thought I was lonely. I always thought that’s totally fine: I could just have my kids, my husband moves from state to state, and I just am on this ride with him, and I was OK with that. And then after turning 40 this year, I realized, like, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state.’ To me, I thought, ‘Oh my god, that’s when we’re getting along the best,’ but then that is sad to me and that’s not what I want.”

‘Power Book II: Ghost’: Turn Every Disaster Into An Opportunity In Season 3, Episode 4

(WARNING: Spoilers for this week’s Power Book II: Ghost episode will be found below.)

Tariq, Brayden, Effie, and the Tejadas’ group effort to move Noma’s drugs hit full steam last week in episode three of Power Book II: Ghost. The group got things together at the last minute after Noma’s associate, frustrated at their lack of success, threatened them and their families in an effort to shake them into getting things right. Well, it worked. Tariq, Brayden, and Effie launched an operation to sell the drugs under the noses of the higher-ups at the Weston family company through an app that doubles as one to order coffee from. Cane and Dru eliminated the competition in order to put themselves in a prime position to be the big connect in the city. While that’s all well and good, Cooper Saxe, Jenny Sulivan, Sergeant Blanca Rodriguez, and Detective Kevin Whitman are taking rapid steps forward in building a RICO case against Tariq, the Tejadas, Davis McClean, and others.

In the fourth episode of Power Book II: Ghost season three, titled “The Land Of Opportunity,” the main cast are all presented with and even take advantage of opportunities to push their individual or group goals forward. With his internship at risk, Tariq finds a way to convince Ron Samuel Jenkins, aka RSJ, the world’s richest Black man, to sign with Weston Holdings thanks to a deal that not only helps the company, but himself and RSJ too. Effie realizes that she needs to tell Tariq about what really happened with Lauren, but the opportunity to do so is interrupted by her fear of losing Tariq’s love and loyalty to her when he learns the truth. Dru continues to knock out chances to prove that he is the most effective leader out of the Tejada kids and Cane gives up his opportunity at the throne after almost losing his life. Diana jumped at an opportunity to be welcomed back home, but it led to her being tied up with Monet’s wildest move yet, an opportunity Monet just couldn’t pass up.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways that we have after season three’s fourth episode, “The Land Of Opportunity”:

Tariq Understands Opportunity More Than Anyone Else

Time and time again this season, we’ve seen Tariq recognize the unique situations in front of him, and find a way to come out with the best result. In episode one, he stopped Noma from killing him, Brayden, and Cane by suggesting they could move Mecca’s remaining product. In episode two, he saw the value in selling drugs at Weston Holdings, and in three, came up with the idea for the coffee and made sure that the connect was killed when Brayden folded under pressure. This week, Tariq saved himself and Weston Holdings by offering RSJ the chance to knock down a building, which Tariq inherited after his father’s death, that would allow him to build a shopping mall in Queens. In exchange, RSJ would have to sign with Weston Holdings and without hesitation, RSJ accepts the deal. The thing with Tariq is he not only understands opportunity, but opportunities that yield favorable outcomes. The latter is something the other characters don’t grasp as well as Tariq which explains their mistakes and missteps.

Effie’s Truth, Unlike Others, Won’t Set Her Free

Effie isn’t the same cold-hearted woman that we were introduced to with her first appearance in Power Book II: Ghost. A closer look into her life over three seasons, specifically her growing relationship with Tariq, has softened her up a bit. Completing Noma’s orders isn’t the biggest worry to Effie at the moment. Rather, it’s finding a way to tell Tariq the truth about what happened to Lauren. In her mind, she believes Lauren is dead after she drove a car with Lauren unconscious in it into a river, but as well all know now, Lauren was rescued and remains in Jenny Sulivan’s possession as she builds her RICO case against Tariq, the Tejadas, Davis McClean, and others. “The truth will set you free” is the saying we’ve all been told and heard in multiple situations, but the fact of the matter is the truth will not set Effie free in this situation. She needs to continue working with Tariq so that she can make the money required to pay her tuition and make it to graduate school. Furthermore, her appreciation for Tariq is unlike any other she’s had for someone in her life and she fears losing that which would very much happen if he were to learn the truth about Lauren. Effie’s in a bad jam at this point of the season, and it’s only going to get worse for her.

Diana Wants The Best Of Both Worlds And Can’t Have That

Diana enrolled at Stansfield to start season three of Power Book II: Ghost and it became another reason for Monet to dislike her, in addition to Diana exposing her at the dinner table in season two. Since then, Diana has been basically ousted from the family, with Monet ignoring her at best and dismissing her from family conversations at worst. It didn’t seem like Monet would open the door to Diana any time soon, but once Monet needed Diana to help her execute a plan to take out Detective Whitman, the doors flew right open. There’s no telling if Monet will set aside her differences with Diana for good now that the mission is complete, but this interaction as well as the one with her father highlight something unique about Diana. She wants the best of both worlds and unfortunately for her, she can’t have that. She wants to be a part of the family but wants to live her own life that’s separate from the family business. Lorenzo explains this to her when he brings her more drugs to sell on campus, and it’s a harsh reality she’ll have to accept sooner or later. Though Salim’s words of wisdom fall flat because he comes off as a slightly intrusive know-it-all who in reality, knows little, he does have a point about Diana eventually having to choose herself — or choose a side at least.

Cane Got Saved So Much That He Finally Decided To Save Himself

In “The Land Of Opportunity,” Cane had his life saved by Lorenzo after they were ambushed following the gun deal they made with help from Brayden. It’s the second time this season that Cane avoided a nasty outcome thanks to help from his family. Last week, it was Dru who stopped him from diving headfirst into an all-out war all to get the opportunity to sell more product to more people in the city. This week, Lorenzo saved Cane from taking a bullet by pushing him out of the way during a tense shootout. Dru and Gordo later arrive to take out the remaining shooters, putting everyone in the clear for the night. In a rare humble moment from him, Cane thanks Lorenzo for saving him and apologizes for his recent behavior all while seemingly deciding to return the shot caller position back to Lorenzo. I’m interested to see how Cane operates for the remainder of the season because his apology to Lorenzo and promise to Effie are both things that we wouldn’t expect Cane, the one we know from season three at least, to do — if we take these actions at face value, at least. This could be a part of a new plan from Cane, but I honestly doubt it as he wasn’t forced to play nice by Lorenzo or Effie. Unfortunately, you just never know with Cane.

New episodes of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am EST and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm EST.

BTS’ Suga Shares His Pensive And Powerful New Song, ‘People Pt. 2,’ As Part Of His Agust D Solo Album

BTS’ Suga, ahead of his new solo album through his Agust D project, has shared “People Pt. 2” — a collaboration with IU. While her vocals open the track, setting the emotional tone, it is Suga’s words, both to himself and those listening who may need to hear it, that elevates the song to another level.

“This thing called love / Maybe it’s just a momentary list of emotions,” he raps, through the English translation. “What is it about loss that makes us so sad?”

“Will I be happy if I give up my greed?” Suga continues to wonder. “A half-illusion that can never be fulfilled / They say life’s a struggle between resistance and submission / I say it’s a struggle against loneliness / If you can’t hold it back, it’s okay to cry.”

He also released a music video for the song, which finds him deep in thought, journaling his words and taking in breathtaking views. He then takes those straight into the studio, where he spills his deepest emotions into the microphone.

“This song was written when I couldn’t do anything due to Covid-19 and when I thought ‘I lost everything.’ So, it conveys the message I wanted to tell myself,” Suga said about the song in a statement.

Lil Yachty’s New Single ‘Strike (Holster)’ Radiates A Truly Stellar And Psychedelic Vibe

Just months after dropping his critically-acclaimed album, Let’s Start Here, Lil Yachty is back with some new music. Tonight (April 7), the rapper has shared a smooth new single called “Strike (Holster)”

On this new song, Yachty continues playing with the psychedelic sounds he utilized on Let’s Start Here, this time, over a silky, trippy beat, reminiscent to Tame Impala and Blood Orange.

“I was tryna strike sh*t, I was tryna strike sh*t / I was tryna strike sh*t, like a match, late night, yeah / Strike like I missed it, strike like I hit the pin / Strike like I’m not goin’ to work, strike, strike,” he rap-sings on the song’s chorus.

While we’re not sure if Yachty’s latest cut is an outtake from Let’s Start Here, or the beginning of a new era, we can expect him to put out more music with confidence in the future. In a recent interview with Billboard, he revealed that he feels better about his music now more than ever.

“I was always kind of nervous to put out music, but now I’m on some other sh*t,” Yachty said. “It was a lot of self-assessing and being very real about not being happy with where I was musically, knowing I’m better than where I am. Because the sh*t I was making did not add up to the sh*t I listened to.

NLE Choppa And Sexyy Red’s ‘Slut Me Out’ Remix Is Even More Graphic Than The Original

We are about a week out from NLE Choppa‘s much anticipated new album, Cottonwood 2. Ahead of the album, the Memphis-bred rapper has shared the remix to the steamy fan favorite, “Slut Me Out.”

On the remix, Choppa is joined by up-and-coming St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red, who adds even more NSFW flavor than that of the original.

We’d dive deep into the lyrics, but none of them are really safe to print. But at one point in the song, Choppa notes that he’s ready to do it “at the church, on the plane, or at the basketball game.”

Perhaps the most NSFW line is when Sexyy Red owns her sexuality, rapping, “You’re last b*tch was a lame, though / Big sexy, you f*cking with a big ho / We can do whatever, see ya before I go.”

In the song’s accompanying video, Choppa and Redd are seen partying in Miami, doing some bumping and grinding in the studio, and dancing surrounded by bikini-clad women near the beach. Rapper Sukihana makes an appearance in the video.

You can watch the NSFW video for above.

Cottonwood 2 is out 4/14 via Warner. Find more information here.

NLE Choppa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Drake Is Waiting For A Woman To ‘Search & Rescue’ Him On His New Single

Just hours after teasing his new single, Drake has dropped some heat. On his newest single, “Search & Rescue,” Drake is on the search for a special woman.

On the song’s chorus, Drizzy is waiting for this woman to “come and rescue” him, as he rap-sings over a beat produced by Sadpony and BNYX.

“I need someone to be patient with me / Someone to get money with, not take it from me, look / They don’t even need to be as famous as me / I don’t think I’ll meet ’em at the places I be / But deep down I think about you all day, mami / I know I’m a pit bull, but dale, mami,” he sings on the song’s chorus.

The song also contains a vocal sample taken from Kim Kardashian on her reality series The Kardashians. In the clip, Kim is heard saying, “I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy, remember that.” Earlier in the week, a preview of the song played on Drake’s SiriusXM radio show, Sound 42, and the sample led fans to believe he may be reigniting a beef with Kanye West. Though later, his father, Dennis Graham, took to the TMZ Instagram comments to clear up these theories, saying, “Drake is not trolling anyone, it’s just a song,”

The song marks Drake’s first solo release of 2023, which indicates that a new album may be imminent.

Kaytranada And Aminé Prove They’re In This ‘4Eva’ By Sharing The First Single From Their Joint Album

Earlier this week, Kaytranada and Aminé announced that they’d be joining forces as the fitting “Kaytraminé” for a new project “coming soon,” as shared on social media. It appears fans are now getting the first glimpse of their collaborative style, as they dropped their first single, “4Eva.”

Featuring co-production by none other than Pharrell, the insanely-danceable track features addictive loops from the producer on the chorus and outro, as well as some creative verses from Aminé.

“Comment tu t’appelles? Je m’appelle Aminé (Shee) / I’m starin’ at your eyes but you starin’ at my lips (True) / You talkin’ ’bout your momma but you thinkin’ ’bout my d*ck (True) / I catch on these nuances and assists,” he raps.

As someone who was familiar with Aminé from his Good For You era and was introduced to Kaytranada at a festival last year, “4Eva” never seems to miss a single step — perfect for making even longtime fans all the more excited.

This is just the start for the duo, as they’ve also officially announced that an album, self-titled off their joint name, will be dropping in May.

The two have been gearing up for this for quite a while, working together on a handful of other projects. Back in 2014, Aminé dropped a remix, putting his own spin on Kaytranada’s “At All.” He also went on to produce several songs on Aminé’s 2015 mixtape.

The Jonas Brothers Rely On ‘Waffle House’ As A Meditative Space And Inspiration For Their New Song

Following February’s “Wings,” the Jonas Brothers have shared a second single from their upcoming album with “Waffle House.” The uplifting track is a celebration of not only the classic late-night chain staple, but also the memories and relaxation they get from the spot.

“No, don’t get stressed, it’s gon’ get figured out / Oh, deep conversations at thе Waffle House / Headstrong fathеr and a determined mother / Oh, that’s why some nights, we try to kill each other / But you know it’s always love,” Joe and Nick sing together in the chorus, with Kevin joining the mix later into the track. Despite the changes as siblings and a family, it’s clear their bond is still strong.

Earlier this year, the band had teased the title during an interview with Variety, as the boys named their favorite songs.

“It was a last-minute addition,” Nick shared. “At first, it was a bit of a head-scratcher, but the more I listened to it, the more I loved it. I think it really encapsulates a moment in time for us. Musically it taps into some of my favorites: Doobie Brothers and Bee Gees, and others from that era. It’s a really, really, fun song. We can’t wait to play it live.”

Because of this excitement, they played it live during their recent Broadway residency.

Labrinth And Billie Eilish, Despite The Fact They’ve ‘Never Felt So Alone,’ Craft A Haunting Collab

Labrinth and Billie Eilish have been teasing their collaboration for quite a while — and the time has finally arrived. The new song, “Never Felt So Alone,” opens with a dark, electronic beat that captures the moodiness and just how perfectly their vocals blend.

Eilish’s is heard both showing off her airy, gentle side, as well as some backing vocals that are heightened through the production. By the time she appears for her solo verse, it shows a range and new growth to the pop star — and also speaks to the power of Labrinth being an excellent producer to collaborate with.

Last December, Eilish brought Labrinth out as a surprise guest during her concert in Los Angeles. The two performed Labrinth’s previous take, initially titled “I’ve Never Felt So Alone,” which appeared in HBO’s Euphoria. However, the solo version never saw an official release, leading fans to hope for a full-length version.

It also has added fuel to the possible theories that Eilish might pop up in Euphoria‘s third season, but she has denied it… For now. “Oh, that I’m in the third season of Euphoria? That’s not true,” she told Vanity Fair. “I’d like to be! Euphoria is f*ckin’ fire.”

Check out Labrinth and Billie Eilish on “Never Felt So Alone” above.
