Snoop Dogg’s esteemed debut album, 1993’s Doggystyle, turns 30 years old next year. Indeed, Snoop has been in hip-hop for a long time, and during his tenure, times have changed: Early in his career, he used to type his lyrics with a typewriter, he revealed in a recent interview on The 85 South Comedy Show.

At about 43 minutes into the video, Snoop was asked about G-funk group The Dove Shack and he responded, “2Scoops, that was in the group… when I first started writing raps, I used to use that n**** typewriter.” After some playful ribbing from the hosts, he continued:

“I was writing on paper ’cause I would lose my sh*t and this n**** typewriter was organized. This n**** had paper organized and sh*t, so I’m like, ‘I’m just gonna type my sh*t up.’ Man, I used to type like 65 words a minute, n****. […] It was a skill I took up at junior high school, at the little white junior high school I went to. They gave a n**** typing class and I took it. I was one of them students that was like… I took a wood class, a metal class, I took typing, I took home economics. I took classes that was, like, different.”

Drake added a new diamond chain to his collection and this one is raising some eyebrows. The Canadian rapper, who’s gained a reputation for being a sad playboy, has one child and apparently 42 engagements that he never went through with. In public knowledge, Drake has never proposed to anyone — but the theme of his new “Previous Engagements” chain includes diamond rings from every moment Drake didn’t follow through.

The Y-shaped chain was revealed on jewelry designer Alex Moss’s Instagram, as he shared him and Drake both worked on it. “New piece titled ‘Previous Engagements’ for all the times he thought about it but never did it,” Moss captioned. “42 engagement rings, 351.38 carats in diamonds.”

The voiceover on Moss’s video also reveals that the creation process took over 14 months, with “each diamond hand-selected.”

Doing the math, each one of Drake’s diamond engagement rings would’ve been approximately 8.4 carats each. According to The Diamond Registry, the average cost of an average wholesale certified ring of this carat ranges from $796,416 to $11,883,584. Now, take that cost and repeat it 42 times in your head. It makes sense that Drake decided to repurpose all that money into some bling of his own… if he bought them before.

Or he was just going for the symbolism of it all, in typical Drake fashion.

Back when Emily In Paris debuted in October 2020, the show had not yet upset people by scoring an awards nomination over I May Destroy You on HBO. The fluffy Netflix series did, however, spark controversy with the perky ignorance of its lead character, Emily Cooper, who went to work in France despite knowing about two words of French. Also very bizarre: Emily Cooper posted a few kissy photos on Instagram in front of baguettes and whatnot, which led her to become an effortless social media sensation.

I do enjoy this show, but even I have to admit that’s pretty silly. Emily somehow even nabbed the attention of French First Lady Brigette Macron, who gave her a retweet that solidified her place at Savoir. It makes no sense! Yet in a meta moment that reflects our odd timeline, Lily Collins has revealed that Macron is truly a fan of what she’s doing: “She’s actually a really big fan of the show.” Yes, it’s true. You can watch that moment at the 3:00 minute mark above, right after Lily and Stephen Colbert discuss her new Vogue France cover. Resistance is futile, as the Borg noted.

Also! Lily informs us how she discovered that Emily Cooper’s apartment shows up on Google Maps, in case you’re ever in the neighborhood and want to drop by and stare at the window.

Soon, you’ll be able to see how her character deals with a major life transition (part of this includes getting bangs, as one does), and Chef Gabriel will get sloppy drunk because this show somehow hasn’t ground that love triangle into the ground. Ah, the power of “enchanté” and a dirty skillet.

The biggest surprise in The White Lotus season two finale wasn’t Portia’s grandma-core outfit; she’s been dressing that way all season. It was Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya blasting the high-end gays (and their big-donged Italian friend) with a gun before they could do the same to her, only for her to meet her demise when she attempts to escape the yacht.

R.I.P. (the “P” stands for “Peppa”).

It was a shocking ending for one of the only characters to appear in both seasons one and two, who was expected to return for season three. But maybe she still can. There’s two options here: season three is a prequel (did someone say early ’90s ski lodge?), or better yet, creator Mike White could find inspiration from Coolidge’s personal life.

Last year, pop culture’s number one MILF told The Kelly Clarkson Show host Kelly Clarkson about a vacation she went on (there were no suitcases full of poop involved… probably). “Quite a few years back, I did come to Hawaii and when you come and you’re on vacation alone, you can kind of like create anything you want. I ended up meeting these two guys that were best friends and I liked them both, and so I told them that I had an identical twin and I dated both guys… for two weeks,” she said. “I don’t know if I would have the guts to do that now but at the time it really was sort of a great decision.”

It would also be a great decision for Tanya to have a twin sister in season three. This would be a soap opera-ass way to keep Jennifer Coolidge on the show, because the more Jennifer Coolidge, the better. And if Tanya’s twin sister — named, let’s say, Sanya — gets revenge on Greg by cutting his penis off, even better.

Dua Lipa and Jack Harlow have a few ties to each other. They’re sort of labelmates, as Harlow’s Atlantic and Lipa’s Warner Records are both owned by Warner Music Group. Earlier this year, Harlow released a song called “Dua Lipa,” on which he expressed his attraction to her with lyrics like, “Dua Lipa, I’m tryna do more with her than do a feature.”

That’s one way to shoot your shot and it actually seems to have worked: Page Six reports the two are dating now. They first opened the channel of communication when Harlow sought Lipa’s permission to release his song named after her. Then, they met in person a couple weeks ago at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch. Per Page Six, they’ve been in “constant communication” since the event.

Since then, Harlow reportedly flew to New York to meet up with Lipa after her Z100 Jingle Ball appearance on December 9. The next day, they were apparently spotted arriving separately at a restaurant for lunch.

Naturally, once this rumor started to spread, fans online latched on and came through with some great reactions. One particularly on-the-nose post is captioned, “jack harlow’s first interview after the news he’s dating dua lipa.” It also includes a video of Harlow saying, “It always felt like a sure thing, no matter how far away it was. It just felt like a sure thing. You know, people want to talk about God and Jesus, that’s fine. Manifestation: that’s what I’m really sold… that sh*t’s real.”

Ticketmaster goofed. When tickets for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour went on sale in November, Ticketmaster just couldn’t handle the massive demand, so fans were left with either long wait times or were unable to secure tickets at all. They goofed so dramatically, in fact, that Swift called them out, fans sued them, and even Congress is taking action.

Now, they’re going to run it back and try again.

Yesterday (December 12), Ticketmaster sent a message to some Swift fans who had signed up for Verified Fan presale but were unable to get tickets, giving them another chance to buy tickets. In an FAQ posted on the Ticketmaster website, they explain, “You were identified as a fan who received a boost during the Verified Fan presale but did not purchase tickets. We apologize for the difficulties you may have experienced, and have been asked by Taylor’s team to create this additional opportunity for you to purchase tickets.”

They additionally noted, “All fans receiving this opportunity were notified via email on Monday, December 12. Notified fans will receive their individual invite to submit their purchase request prior to Friday, December 23. Invitations will be staggered by tour dates in each city.” As for how the process will work, they explained, “We’ll send you a summary email that details the show and ticket(s) you’ve requested to purchase. Your card won’t be charged at this time. After the request window has closed, we’ll send you an email to let you know if your request was confirmed. If confirmed, your card will be charged and you’ll receive instructions on how to claim your tickets so they appear in your Ticketmaster account.”

Late at night, when all the world is dreaming, we still stay up to think about Selena Quintanilla. Nearly thirty years have passed since the tragic death of the “Queen of Tejano Music.” Although the feature film about her life starring Jennifer Lopez is now available on several different streaming platforms, nothing beats the real deal. Thanks to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, fans of the late Latin musician will now have the opportunity to admire an authentic piece of Selena.

The staple of archival acquisitions announced one of the “Dreaming of You” singer’s signature on-stage costumes will be the center of their latest installation. The exhibit title, “Entertainment Nation,” showcases hundreds of objects across theater, television, film, music, and sports, to which the entertainer will have her own display.

In Quintanilla’s section, visitors will have the chance to see one of her most popular outfits, the black leather jacket, and satin brassiere combo. The set, donated to the museum by her family in 1998, was originally worn to the 1994 Tejano Music Awards in San Antonio, Texas. If you watch Netflix’s miniseries on her life, you’d know she also wore the look to perform a medley of classic songs “Donde Quiera Que Estés” with the Barrio Boyzz and “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.”

Ashley Mayor, a curatorial assistant of the exhibit, spoke to Billboard about the exhibit saying, “This costume is on display on a red carpet, so it’s kind of a spotlight moment to explore Selena, her legacy, the impact that she had. It’s important to explore the impact of Selena on a generation of young Latinos who dreamed of being like her. She affected so many people with her music and brought Tejano music to a national and international level. She became a phenomenon.”

The exhibit also features other clothing items, including the original ruby red glitter slippers from the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz.

When it premiered in 2016, Westworld had the most-watched first episode on HBO since True Detective. Six years later and not only is the show cancelled, but as per Deadline, the entire run is being unceremoniously yanked off HBO Max, likely so they can sell it to other streamers. And it’s not the only casualty at a company that’s been thrown into turmoil under its new regime.

Deadline reports that both Westworld and The Nevers, the Joss Whedon-produced Victorian-set sci-fi show, will soon no longer be available to stream on the streamer. The former was recently cancelled, likely due to its ratings falling since its initial heyday. The latter’s fate is up in the air: Its first batch of six episodes, labeled as Season 1A, aired earlier this year. What this means for its second batch of episodes is now up in the air.

The news comes amidst other fun HBO Max tomfoolery, including that Minx, the very well-liked show in which Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson publish a women’s erotic magazine in the ‘70s, being cancelled right as it was about to finish filming on its second season. That show, too, will be pulled from HBO Max. Throw in the unfathomably cruel Batgirl/Scoob! sequel mishegoss, and the David Zavlav era of Warner Bros. Discovery seems to be going great, at least as far as alienating anyone who would want to make a show for the David Zavlav era of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Musician Matty Healy is kissing a lot of people these days. The 1975 frontman stirred up a lot of chatter across the internet by making out with fans on stage during their 2013 song “Robbers” — those who have been following the band since the beginning know that this isn’t new because he’d done it on old tours years ago.

So maybe it’s not that surprising that today he shared a picture of him kissing the one and only Phoebe Bridgers, made all the more unhinged with Bo Burnham standing behind them. Many are frazzled because of the Punisher performer’s recent engagement to actor Paul Mescal, though more fans are begging Healy to “stay away” from Bridgers.

The crossover of Burnham and Healy is nothing of a surprise. Before Being Funny In A Foreign Language arrived, Healy revealed that he showed it to the comedian and “was pleased when Burnham laughed at all the right times.” That’s likely due to the frequent humor on the record, which Healy summed up simply in that same interview: “There’s so much of it [laughs]! There are so many good dick jokes on the record. It’s all about my dick. I’m obsessed with my dick for some reason.”

Fans of the late pop singer and actress Olivia Newton-John are in for a treat. Following her untimely passing in August, admirers of Newton-John scoured the internet to learn more about her career. Tributes for the star poured in, highlighting her breakout role in the 1978 film, Grease, but her entertainment career started much earlier than that.

According to Variety, filmmaker R.J. Cutler is in the works to produce a feature-length documentary to explore all parts of Newton-John’s life and work. The documentary is set to showcase her long career as an actress, a recording artist, and advocacy work in animal rights, environmental, and wellness causes.

While the director of the project hasn’t been named, after securing full authorized access to Newton-John’s music and personal archives, we know the film is in good hands with Cutler’s company, This Machine.

To name a music documentary, This Machine has produced Billie Eilish’s documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry. In addition, Cutler is working on Elton John’s documentary, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances and the Years That Made His Legend, for Disney+.

With a career spanning nearly half a century and Olivia Newton-John’s life already been told as part of the Lifetime Network’s miniseries Olivia Newton-John: Hopelessly Devoted to You, the team over at This Machine has their work cut out for them.
