Baker Mayfield has a new team. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Mayfield, who spent this season as a member of the Carolina Panthers until he was waived on Monday, will head to the west coast and become the latest member of the Los Angeles Rams’ hobbled quarterback room.
Former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield was claimed on waivers today by the Los Angeles Rams, per league sources. The Rams now inherit the remaining $1.35 million on Mayfield’s contract. It has been a rough year in Los Angeles, particularly when it comes to their signal callers. The defending Super Bowl winners are 3-9, putting them in last place in the NFC West, while starting QB Matthew Stafford and top backup John Wolford are both sidelined with injuries. The only healthy QB on the roster is second-year quarterback Bryce Perkins.
According to Schefter, the health of the room played a role in the decision to claim Mayfield off of waivers. There’s also the fact that they could potentially receive draft capital this offseason, depending on how things go with him. And to top it all off, the Rams apparently believe in the talent possessed by the former No. 1 overall pick.
Some of why the Rams claimed Baker Mayfield: They believe in his talent. They need a QB with Matthew Stafford sidelined for the season and John Wolford dealing with a neck injury. And if Mayfield signs elsewhere this off-season, the Rams could get back a compensatory draft pick.
After spending the entirety of his career prior to this season with the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield joined the Panthers this past offseason. He appeared in six games with seven starts and completed 57.8 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and six interceptions.
As the second season of The White Lotus comes to a close, creator Mike White has been reflecting on the rollercoaster season of his hit show. Just about everything in season two is different than its predecessor, with the cast and the location being the main differences. But there is one thing that many people noticed that set season two apart from season one, and this is the absurd amount of frivolous nudity and sexual situations!
When scouting for the second season, the producers settled on The San Domenico Palace, though this inspired White to rethink his storylines for the season. “It seemed like the perfect place to set the show,” he said while appearing on NPR’s Fresh Air. “The original idea was about heavy hitters in business and power, and I was like ‘this is not the right place for that kind of topic,’” White explained. Instead, this was the place for some cocaine parties.
After finding the location, White set out to add some new themes into the mix for the highly-anticipated second season. “It kinda gave me the idea to maybe focus on sexual jealousy and adultery and infidelity. A more operatic bedroom farce.” With that, nudity became the star of the show. Literally.
White then compared the more explicit second season to the first, which focused more on family dynamics and societal expectations. “The first season we did so much about privilege and how money is used as a wedge in relationships,” he said. “I just felt like we should try to not repeat that same idea. The place sort of forced my hand, in a way.”
Even though there were more R-rated moments, White admitted that he was not the best at handling these scenes.”I’m very timid about asking people to undress and get into sexual situations. It’s not my wheelhouse. So there were definitely times on this shoot where I was like, ‘what have I got myself into?’” White explained with a laugh. Whatever he did, it worked! The show has become even more popular than its first season. Yes, a lot of it was due to White…but Jennifer Coolidge really brings it home.
The holidays are upon us and the gift-giving season is here! Everybody has a sneakerhead in their life, maybe it’s your whole friend group, perhaps it’s just a cousin, maybe it’s you, but without a doubt, there is at least someone in your life who lives and breathes all things streetwear and sneaker culture. What do you buy for that person? That’s a truly tough question — sneakerheads are all incredibly picky about what they like and there is nothing more embarrassing than buying the coolest person in your family/friend group a present you think they’ll like only to be proven woefully wrong.
We’ve created a gift guide of accessories every sneakerhead needs as well as a collection of super-hyped drops and the most popular sneaker silhouettes of 2022. But before we dive into our ultimate sneakerhead gift guide, you’re going to need to do a bit of research about the person you’re buying for. That’s a lot easier than it sounds — simply hit up their Instagram (if they’re a sneakerhead, they have an Instagram, and they probably post a lot about their shoes) and scan their footwear. If you see a lot of Jordans, it’s safe to say you’re dealing with a Jordan head. Swooshes mean Nike, stripes mean Adidas, and an ‘N’ logo is for New Balance.
Let’s dive in!
Virgil Abloh. Nike. ICONS
Amazon
Price: $72
When Virgil Abloh first teamed up with Nike in 2016 to give us “The Ten,” he single-handedly changed the look of modern sneakers. This coffee table book by Abloh documents that legendary design process. Featuring design prototypes, text messages between Abloh and Nike’s designers, and other gems from the Nike archives, Virgil Abloh. Nike. ICONS treats sneakerheads to an inside look at the design process of one of sneaker world’s greatest collaborations.
This is an essential piece of reading for anyone who lives and breathes sneakers.
Every serious sneakerhead needs a shoe-cleaning system, and Reshoevn8r is the gold standard. It might seem like a dull gift, and yes, you are essentially giving someone some laundry detergent and a toothbrush for Christmas, but sneakerheads love to pamper their kicks and while this is an essential item, no one really likes to buy it with their own money.
Do it for them!
The Reshoevn8r Signature kit features a cleaning solution, three different bristle brushes, a sneaker laundry bag, a microfiber towel, and a pair of shoe trees that’ll help keep leather kicks keep their shape.
The kit is designed to be compatible with Jordans, Nikes, Adidas, New Balance, Pumas, Vans, and even Supreme so you’ve pretty much got all your bases covered no matter what sort of brand loyalty the sneakerhead in your life has.
Repel Spray is an essential tool in every sneaker head’s arsenal, especially during the winter months. Liquid ruins leather, suede, nylon, canvas, and pretty much every fabric a modern sneaker is made from so if you really want to help the sneakerhead in your life take care of their shoes, get them Jason Markk’s Repel spray.
This spray works as a barrier between the elements and your kicks protecting sneakers from stains and liquids without altering the feel of the fabric. Now the sneakerhead in your life can rock their favorite kicks on a wet and rainy day without going into full-on crisis mode if they come across a puddle.
Sneakerheads spend a lot of hard-earned money on their shoes so give them something they can use to show off their collection. No sneakerhead with a serious collection should be forced to keep their shoes in their closet or under their bed collecting dust. With this stackable sneaker organizer, they can now display their most prized kicks in stackable load-bearing boxes with 360 degrees of visibility.
To take it to the next level, buy them some battery-operated LED lights so they can cast a glow in these boxes.
We get it, giving gift cards as a present feels kind of like a cop-out, but sometimes it’s just easier to let a sneakerhead shop for themselves. Chances are they have their sights set on a very specific pair of shoes for a while, and since you can’t read their minds, it’s just safer to give them the power to make their own purchasing decisions rather than hoping they like what you’ve picked out for them.
A classic rookie move is hitting up a store the next time you’re at the mall and picking up a gift card. Don’t do that, the most hyped sneaker drops often come directly out of the brands themselves, so a gift card from Nike, Adidas, or New Balance directly will mean a lot more to the hardcore collector in your life.
Sneaker customization is bigger than its ever been so if the sneakerhead in your life leans on the crafty side, consider this shoemaker’s toolkit out of the Sneaker Surgeon’s SRGN Academy.
The toolkit is designed to deconstruct and reconstruct any pair of sneakers and features a hammer, seam ripper, leather scissors, pincers, and every other tool you can think of to alter sneakers safely and effectively.
The quintessential Jordan colorway is the sneakers OG release, the classic Chicago which got a recent retro re-release this year. While you’re going to have to pick this up on the aftermarket for a slightly inflated price, its recent release status means this is the cheapest you’re going to be able to pick up this legendary colorway for.
The sneaker features a classic combination of University Red, white, and black over a full leather upper with a slightly vintage aesthetic by way of cracked black leather detailing. If the sneakerhead in your life is all about Jordans, they’re guaranteed to love this pair.
If the sneakerhead in your life leans away from the vintage and more toward the contemporary, you can’t go wrong with A Ma Maniére’s Violet Ore Jordan 4. The Atlanta-based brand is responsible for some of the best-looking Jordan drops of the decade and this muted purple nubuck leather sneaker with its quilted textile collar is easily one of the ten best sneakers to drop all year.
As is the case with the Jordan 1 Chicago, you’re going to need to pick up this pair on the aftermarket for more than its retail price, but it’s so beloved it might just make the sneakerhead in your life’s eyes water, and that’s a priceless reaction.
This year Adidas dropped Ye (for good reason) and while that may lead you to believe Adidas lost their biggest music-related collaborator, you’re wrong, because Adidas has got Bad Bunny and if Spotify Wrapped is any indication of his popularity, he’s way bigger than Ye (Adidas also has Beyonce too, also bigger).
Bad Bunny and Adidas have only been collaborating for a couple of years but each subsequent release gets better and better and this year’s Forum in Blue Tint is easily the best Bad Bunny-branded sneaker to ever come out of Adidas.
Featuring an adjustable strap, a leather and suede upper, and a semi-translucent midsole, this padded low-cut Forum was inspired by the glittering waters of Puerto Rico and is hands down one of this year’s best sneakers.
New Balance x Joe Freshgoods 993 Made in USA Performance Art Arctic Blue
Goat
Price:Varies
Chicago designer Joe Freshgoods is partly why New Balance is such a vital brand right now, consistently teaming up to bring us some of the freshest kicks of the decade. Released as part of the ‘Performance Art’ collection, this Arctic Blue New Balance 993 combines grey mesh with suede overlays and reflective detailing on the New Balance logo over an ABZORB midsole, resulting in one of the most eye-catching running sneakers to drop all year.
The sneaker is part of New Balance’s Made in USA imprint, which promises high-quality craftsmanship.
New Balance is more popular than its ever been and the brand’s best sneaker silhouette right now is hands down the 550. This ‘90s classic returned to the New Balance catalog in 2020 and in the two years since its return, it has consistently topped year-end sneaker lists thanks to its sleek and simple design.
Next week the sneaker will get a Lilac Chalk makeover in women’s exclusive sizing with a pig suede and leather upper over an off-white outsole. This sneaker tends to keep things simple in terms of color, so this is one of the most vibrant renditions of the sneaker to hit the market and is poised to become a future classic.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
UYour favorite rappers aren’t speaking in code; you’re just not hip to their lingo. From onomatopoeias to alliterations, an artist’s chosen lyrical content help tells the stories and paint pictures of music culture from around the globe. The south has explicitly ushered hundreds of phrases into the mainstream through viral records from rappers like Future, Gunna, and even OGs like Paul Wall. Remember when “pushin’ p,” “no cap,” and “bando” all sounded like random phrases thrown into your favorite hits? Look no further than Uproxx’s Cherise Johnson’s sitdown with female rap pioneer Gangsta Boo, where they break down some dirty south slang.
There’s no doubt The Queen of Memphis is a southern rap icon. Gangsta Boo’s impact spans beyond her contributions while a member of Three 6 Mafia, and she’s inspiring this generation of female rap stars. Latto and GloRilla teamed up with the legend for their new single “FTCU,” which samples Three 6 Mafia’s “Tear The Club Up.” Today, she decodes phrases like “Yeah Hoe,” famously used in Three 6 Mafia’s “Mafia N****z,” the multifaced noun “mane” and the feeling-turned-genre “crunk.” Outside of Boo Lingo 101, catch Gangsta Boo and her southern charm for UPROXX Sessions.

Howard University alumnus Chadwick Boseman returned to the school to deliver its commencement address.
Speaking to Howard’s class of 2018, Boseman channeled his inner T’Challa for an engaging, inspiring half hour filled with bits of wisdom for students and onlookers alike.
“When you have reached the Hilltop, and you are deciding on next steps, you would rather find purpose than a career,” the 2000 graduate said, referencing the school’s nickname. “Purpose is an essential element of you that crosses disciplines.”
A lot of his speech for the school’s 150th commencement ceremony was standard fare for a graduation, with inspiring quotes about the importance of failure and perseverance on the path to success.
It was the portion of the speech about activism, however, that served as the true highlight.
He spent several minutes thanking the students for challenging the institution.
In March 2018, students staged an occupation of the school’s administration building, a protest that ultimately lasted nine days. It was incredibly successful — their work forced the school to revamp its sexual assault policy, to agree to more oversight on future tuition increases and the role of police on campus, to establish an on-campus food bank, and more.”You could have been disgruntled and transferred, but you fought to be participants in making this institution the best that it can be,” Boseman said.
Their demonstration illustrates why protests (and the right to protest) matter so much.
It’s important not to forget who benefits from protest — not just the people demonstrating but everyone who comes after.
Members of the graduating class won’t directly benefit from the concessions they won from administrators. But future generations of students will, and that makes it worthwhile. Protest is anything but selfish.
“Many of you will leave Howard and enter systems and institutions that have a history of discrimination and marginalization,” said Boseman. “The fact that you have struggled with this university that you love is a sign that you can use your education to improve the world that you’re entering.”
His acknowledgement that people can love the person or institution they’re protesting strikes at one of the most pervasive myths about activism: that if you protest something, it’s because you hate it. People protest institutions because they believe in them, because they see potential for growth, and because they care enough to invest energy in it. This fact often gets lost in discussions around activism.
Naturally, Boseman closed his address with a nod to “Black Panther,” doing the “Wakanda forever” salute while saying “Howard forever.”
It wouldn’t be an SNL cast member interview without a question about Pete Davidson!
It was all of yesterday when we learned from Chloe Fineman that the reason he’s dated so many famous women, including Emily Ratajkowski, Kim Kardashian, and Ariana Grande, is because he’s “deeply charming.” Today, it’s Kenan Thompson’s turn. Not to date Pete, although that would be interesting, but to be asked about his former co-star’s “secret” with the ladies.
“I mean, the one obvious and then the other one is they say that… what I say… he’s a very sweet, young man,” Thompson told E! News. “He’s a very kind and endearing, he loves his mom and sister. He has hyper admiration for his father and, I don’t know, he’s just a good hearted person. He’s grown up rough because the streets of New York, stuff like that or whatever, but instead I don’t think he’s out to harm a piece of cotton.”
You know what The King of Staten Island, the movie loosely based on Davidson’s life, was missing? A scene where he’s smoking weed in his mom’s basement and cough-laughing while watching Good Burger. Sure, he was only four when the All That spin-off movie came out, but you know he owned a copy on DVD. This, coincidentally, is also what a movie based on my life would look like.
You can watch the E! News interview with Kenan above.
When Death Grips last toured in 2019, they were on the heels of their mysterious, abrasive, and compelling last album, Year Of The Snitch. The Sacramento-forged trio of Zach Hill, MC Ride, and Andy Morin blazed a trail for horrorcore-minded experimental rappers who could never quite replicate the visceral nature of Death Grips’ music. Now they’ve announced a new tour of North America for 2023, but no word yet on if this means a new album is on deck.
The tour begins on May 4th, 2023 in Portland and the band will be touring furiously through the Western US (with a Canadian date) that month, before starting an East Coast swing in September and October.
Tickets for the Death Grips 2023 tour go on sale Friday, 12/9 at 10 a.m. local time here. Check out the full list of Death Grips tour dates below.

The shooting case against Tory Lanez isn’t going well for the Canadian artist right off the bat, as Rolling Stone reports he’s been given a new, third charge to fight in addition to the existing felony charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. Now, he must also defend himself from the additional charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence in the 2020 incident that allegedly left bullet shrapnel in Megan Thee Stallion’s feet.
The trial, which was postponed again in September, is finally underway after over a year of delays requested by Tory’s defense. While the Toronto rapper was released from house arrest earlier this week to prepare for his defense, the new charge increases the stakes for him, as it carries a possible six-year prison sentence. Tory could also still be deported if convicted of this charge, even if he avoids the assault conviction. Tory has maintained his innocence ever since Megan publicly accused him of shooting at her feet and yelling, “Dance, bitch!” pointing to Meg’s initial testimony changing following the immediate aftermath of the incident. However, Megan has said she initially lied to protect the occupants of Tory’s vehicle in light of recent police shootings of Black citizens.
Meanwhile, witness testimonies have proven unreliable (as they so often are), but given that there were only four people in the car, including Megan, the possibilities for the shooter remain… well, limited. While Tory’s defense seems to be leaning toward suggesting that Megan’s then-friend Kelsey Harris fired the shots, Tory’s call to Harris from county jail apologizing for what happened could put the kibosh on that defense, provided Harris is willing to testify.
Opening statements in the trial are set to begin on December 12

The White Lotus cast of characters are managing to do what most of would dream of as impossible. They’re jetting off to luxurious, eye-popping locales like Hawaii and Sicily, and they’re (mostly) miserable. At least Daphne is actually vacationing from life! And Cameron is still being Cameron, so there’s that. One odd detail about this show, especially this season, is that the characters don’t really seem to care about exploring any culinary lust. Nope, they’re all too busy boning or trying to bone or being angry about boning. Food seems to be falling by the wayside.
Instead, we get to see Harper angrily chomping on dry toast as she and Ethan’s vacation winds down. Is that even possible? I guess there are more important things to do than eat delicious food: like plot some murder. Someone is either plotting or will pop off soon, and it sure seems like Ethan might have a bone to pick, although it remains to be seen whether his hallucinations contain any truth.
For now, people are wondering why the heck no one is exploring Sicilian food. To be fair, at least Portia and Jack left the resort to eat, even if they didn’t pay, but beyond that wildness, viewers have the same complaint about the show:
The most unrealistic part of #WhiteLotus Season 2: -Needs Haircut Husband isn’t into Hot Wife -They eat at the same hotel restaurant every night -People in their 30s+ drink all day & are still going after 10 p.m.
you know what u don’t get about white lotus why are they eating in the hotel restaurant every night like it’s the last place i’m eatin when i’m on hols did they get all inclusive or somethin
I can get behind more of the storylines on White Lotus, but I refuse to accept that these people eat at the hotel restaurant every night while THEY ARE IN ITALY!!!!
Ok literally my one tiny tiny tiny complaint about The White Lotus is how they eat at the hotel every night lol you’re telling me they’re in Italy and don’t want at different restaurants!!!!!?!!?
