Penn State’s Kicker Becomes Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson In This Insane ‘EA Sports College Football 25’ Clip

Every time a new sports video game comes out, the first few weeks bring a ton of viral videos of insane things happening, often due to bugs or glitches that need to get patched out. However, with EA Sports College Football 25, some of the insanity is cooked into the game on purpose, because college football is at its best when things are going crazy and the developers wanted to bring that to the game (as frustrating as it can be).

That’s why passing is so hard and tackling is also much more difficult than usual as a combination of new hit stick tuning and players being rated lower in that skill — just 49 players of the thousands in the game being rated 90 or above in tackling. As a result, it’s hard to figure out what viral clips coming out are going to end up as things that get patched up and what are simply the crazy things that can happen in the game. With that in mind, a clip went viral early this week of an online matchup between Penn State and Arizona in which the Penn State kicker morphed into Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson on a fake field goal pass on an extra point, as he ran backwards all the way inside his own red zone, breaking dozens of tackles, before turning upfield and running it in for the two-point conversion.

I have no idea why you would turn and run back this far, but it’s extremely funny watching the kicker (who might actually be a backup QB, as 17 is the number of Ethan Grunkemeyer on the current roster) shake off tackle after tackle before somehow getting back upfield with a wall of blockers and cruising in for the two-point score.

Vince Staples Issued A Very Vince Staples Response To A Vince Staples Vs. J. Cole Debate On X/Twitter

For almost as long as rap has existed, fans have loved debating the merits of one rapper over others. Jay-Z and Nas, Drake and Kendrick Lamar, Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj… these arguments are well known among hip-hop fans. However, a new one has cropped up thanks to social media: J. Cole and Vince Staples.

Like most online debates, this one was started by an account expressing a “hot take” with which fans took issue. “There’s not a single thing Vince Staples does better than J. Cole,” it wrote. Within an hour, the challenge was met by a dissenter who wrote, “I’m a J. Cole fan but Vince does just about everything better than Cole.” Thus, we were off to the races, with various voices chiming in to make their points or refute others’.

https://twitter.com/JColeVillle/status/1815778405503455454

Of course, the funniest response came from Staples himself. As fans pitted the two rappers against each other, Vince had a characteristically cheeky response, tweeting, “You n****s need jobs” and following up with, “So passionate about hip hop but I’ve yet to see one of you weird ass n****s break dance.”

We here at Uproxx support both rappers, but tend to agree with Vince here: There are far more interesting things going on in the culture than subjective comparisons of “who’s better.”

Still, if that’s your thing, you can check out more responses below.

Everything BTS Members Have Been Up To During The Group’s Hiatus — And What’s Next

BTS(1024x450)

There’s no other way to put what happened in 2020 and 2021 (no, not COVID): BTS became the biggest band in the world.

During that time, the group was the most significant name in K-pop and was emblematic of the genre’s growing popularity among English-speaking listeners. In the summer of 2020, “Dynamite” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making BTS the first-ever all-South Korean group to top the US charts. Hell, it was big enough to dethrone “WAP,” Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s year-defining mega-hit, from its No. 1 spot. It was a major moment in K-pop history, perhaps the biggest one ever.

Then, this sort of thing just kept happening. BTS’ next single, a remix of Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo’s “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat),” also hit No. 1. “Life Goes On” did it next, then “Butter,” then “Permission To Dance,” and then the Coldplay collaboration “My Universe.”

In 2022, though, the inevitable, a turning point that fans knew for years would eventually come, happened: The hiatus. You see, in South Korea, as BBC News puts it, “all able-bodied men aged 18-28 must serve [in the military for] about two years. The seven BTS members had been allowed to put off starting their military service until they turned 30.”

The group’s members — Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook — were all nearing the maximum age, so they had no choice but to fulfill their military obligations. BTS was on pause.

Here’s the thing about this hiatus, though: Two years later, it hasn’t felt like much of a break.

Over the past couple years, BTS members have been busting out solo projects left and right and up and down and left again. Not even BTS proper has completely taken the time off, dropping the single “Take Two” in the summer of 2023.

The BTS musical universe has been so full during the “hiatus” that it’s worth going over in detail, so here’s a break-down of what each BTS member has been up to and what they have on the way.

Jin

The BTS Army took Jin’s military enlistment particularly hard: In January 2023, Big Hit Music asked fans to chill out with sending Jin mail because he was receiving too much of it.

Jin did eventually return the love, though, with the October 2022 solo single “The Astronaut.” It’s a bit misleading to call it a “solo” song, though, as it was co-written with Kygo and Coldplay, the latter of whom also performed on the track (and even played it on Saturday Night Live).

Suga

Suga (or Agust D, as he’s sometimes also known) has been as busy as anybody lately. He launched his own concert tour in April 2023, which was the first-ever solo tour from a BTS member. That same month, he released his debut solo album D-Day and became an official ambassador of the NBA.

He also made time to reunite with Halsey (after guesting on her 2019 song “Suga’s Interlude”) on “Lilith (Diablo IV Anthem).” On top of that, he immortalized his solo tour with D-Day: The Movie, a theatrical concert film.

J-Hope

While the hiatus may have initially seemed like a nightmare to fans, it was during this time that J-Hope made a longtime dream come true, when he collaborated with his rap idol, J. Cole, on the joint single “On The Street.”

Beyond that, he pulled the curtain back for fans with the release of his J-Hope In The Box documentary in February 2023. He also dropped his debut solo album Jack In The Box in July 2022 and followed that up with the March 2024 EP Hope On The Street Vol. 1. The latter also served as the soundtrack to a documentary series of the same name.

RM

RM has just gone ahead and had a full solo career during the hiatus. In December 2022, he released his debut solo album, Indigo, then quickly followed that with a second, Right Place, Wrong Person, in May 2024.

Across both projects, RM greatly expanded his professional contact list, as he collaborated with Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, Mahalia, Little Simz, Domi And JD Beck, and Moses Sumney, among others. Indigo single “Wild Flower” also become his first solo song to hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart, simultaneously topping the World Digital Song Sales chart.

Jimin

Jimin had a similar journey to RM, as he’s also shared two albums during the hiatus: Face in 2023 and Muse just days ago. He one-upped RM in a major way, though: Face single “Like Crazy” went No. 1 on the Hot 100, becoming the first song by a South Korean solo artist to ever do so.

On top of that, fans can soon expect to see a more casual side of Jimin: It was announced earlier this month that he and Jung Kook are teaming up for Are You Sure?!, a new travel show that is set to debut on August 8.

V

V has only put out one album during the hiatus: Layover, from September 2023. It was a good one, though: It managed to peak at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart despite only featuring six tracks; The more songs an album has, the more streams it tends to rack up, and the higher chart potential it has, but Layover still crushed it despite being a short project.

He also just released Type 1, a new 224-page photobook that is described as “a collage of V’s personal taste.”

Jung Kook

Jung Kook has had perhaps the biggest hiatus of them all. His 2023 album Golden was No. 2 in the US, the project spawned the No. 1 single “Seven” (featuring Latto), and he had two top-5 singles beyond that with “3D” (a Jack Harlow collaboration) and “Standing Next To You.” Speaking of the latter song, he also recruited Usher for a remixed version of it.

As far as his future, there’s the aforementioned travel show with Jimin, as well as I Am Still, which we don’t know the true nature of yet, but it has been speculated that the project is some sort of documentary.

Basically, no matter which BTS member is your favorite, there has been adequate solo material to enjoy during the BTS time-out. This break, by the way, could be over soon: The end of the hiatus was initially set for 2025 and band members are starting to get discharged from the military.

This whole hiatus situation has gone to show just how mighty the BTS machine is. Even when the group was on break, there was a plan in place: Let the members show off their solo sides and flesh out the details of the BTS musical universe. It’s saying something that the end of the hiatus could actually be considered bittersweet, for those who have grown attached to what a member or two have been doing on their own.

A hiatus at the peak of their power wasn’t necessarily an ideal scenario for BTS. Given how well the break went, though, it’s not impossible they actually come out of it even stronger than before. That’s a scary/exciting thought.

Muna’s Katie Gavin Bares It All (Literally) In The Artistic ‘Aftertaste’ Video, Which Launches Her Debut Solo Album

Muna lead singer Katie Gavin has announced her first solo album. What A Relief, which she described as “Lilith Fair-core,” is coming out on October 25 on Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records. “This record spans a lot of my life – it’s about having a really deep desire for connection, but also encountering all the obstacles that stood in my way to be able to achieve that, patterns of isolation or even boredom with the real work of love,” Gavin said. “What A Relief explores and portrays it honestly, without shame.” One of the songs, “As Good As It Gets,” includes a guest spot from Mitski.

Gavin also released a video for first single “Aftertaste,” which you can watch above.

“That song takes place inside of the magnetic force, when I’m really drawn to somebody and still feeling like it’s gonna work,” she said about the track. “Sometimes it’s fun to surrender to that feeling – I think a lot of songwriters have a strong relationship with romantic fantasy.”

She continued, “I thought this song would be a good place to start because to me it kind of serves as a bridge, sonically and thematically, between MUNA’s world and the world we are going to with the solo record. ‘Aftertaste’ is a sweet song about carrying a torch for someone, realizing that you are going out to concerts and parties hoping to run into them there. The song is a playing out of a fantasy, really, both because it involves confessing your crush and finding out that it is reciprocated.”

Kevin Durant Is Expected To Miss Team USA’s Olympic Opener Against Serbia With His Calf Strain

kevin durant

The USA men’s basketball team has been playing with an 11-man roster during the exhibition slate as they’ve been trying to buy Kevin Durant as much time as possible to recover from a calf strain. However, the past two weeks have apparently not been enough to get KD on the court for the Olympics opener this weekend against Nikola Jokic and a tough Serbia team, as Brian Windhorst reported on Tuesday that Durant met with Steve Kerr and it was decided he’ll sit for a bit longer.

As Windy notes, Kerr was Durant’s coach in 2019 when the star forward came back from a calf strain early and tore his Achilles in the NBA Finals. While Durant insists that isn’t influencing his approach to returning from this strain, it’s hard not to believe it’s leading Kerr and Team USA to err on the side of caution when it comes to bringing him back.

Windhorst also says there will not be a second replacement player joining the roster after Derrick White stepped in after Kawhi Leonard’s departure, and Durant will continue to be on the roster with the plan being for him to play at some point. In the meantime, Team USA will need to shake off a couple rocky performances against South Sudan and Germany to close their showcase slate as they face what should be their toughest game of the group stage against Serbia on Sunday, July 28 (11:15 a.m. ET).

Lupe Fiasco Claims He Hasn’t Even Heard Either Of Drake Or Kendrick Lamar’s Diss Tracks

lupe fiasco

Despite fans trying to pull him into the feud, Lupe Fiasco claims he hasn’t even heard either of Drake or Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks. While many hip-hop fans were mesmerized by tracks like “Family Matters“, “Not Like Us“, “Meet The Grahams” and “6:16 In LA,” Lupe told fans during a chat on Twitter Spaces (never calling it “X”) that he tuned out after Rick Ross dropped “Champagne Moments.” You can listen to the Space below.

Lupe also dismissed long-running speculation that he dislikes Kendrick Lamar. “I genuinely don’t have any issues, I really don’t,” he said. “I do not have a problem. No matter what was said in the past, what you think happened, what happened, what didn’t happen. I personally and professionally do not have a problem with my brother in arms, Kendrick Lamar.”

Perhaps Lupe was just too busy finalizing preparations for his new album, Samurai, and his upcoming Samurai tour, which starts in October. Or maybe he just tired of the conflict, as he pointed out during a separate Spaces chat that it undermined hip-hop as a whole to fight about who deserves to be “in” or “out.” “I don’t think we should be choosing who comes in and out and making decisions on that sh*t anyway… I think it is going to do more harm than good,” he said. “I think you are going to miss out on a lot of beautiful things because of it. I think you are going to ostracize people and like I said, there are going to be a group of motherf*ckers that you think you actually control and sh*t and its dudes doing 50 city tours who you ain’t never heard of. ‘Cause they like, ‘F*ck that dude. I’m finna do this because I love it.’ But now, they are the ‘out group,’ but they are selling more records than you and selling more tour dates than you. But you are the spokesperson for hip-hop? That don’t make no sense.”

How Long Is The ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Movie?

deadpool and wolverine
marvel studios

There was a time not so long ago (the year 2017) when we thought we would never see Hugh Jackman and his metal claws again. That’s because they really made it seem like we would never see Hugh Jackman and his metal claws again, and yet here we are! Just days away from his triumphant return in Deadpool & Wolverine, with his metal claws. Again.

Deadpool & Wolverine follows the two enemy superheroes (Ryan Reynolds and Jackman) forced to team up as the Time Variance Authority sends them on a mission which subsequently changes the history of the MCU. But it’s all good because it needed some changing anyway.

The movie clocks in at 2 hours and 7 minutes, which is the equivalent of roughly 230 Mint mobile ads. This makes Deadpool & Wolverine the longest movie in the Deadpool franchise. It’s also the goriest, allegedly.

But will these be the last 2 hours and 7 minutes we get to see Wolverine? Who knows. When asked by Collider if this would actually be Wolverine’s last hurrah, Jackman couldn’t say. “It literally does not matter how I answer this, Steve, because I’m clearly a liar. But what’s so great about my lie is I believed it. Fully. I fully believed it,” he said. That’s what makes him such a good actor! We fully believe him even when he’s lying.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters this Friday, July 26th.

Mom’s blistering rant on how men are responsible for all unwanted pregnancies is on the nose

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as Mormons, are a conservative group who aren’t known for being vocal about sex.

But best selling author, blogger, and mother of six, Gabrielle Blair, has kicked that stereotype to the curb with a pointed thread on reducing unwanted pregnancies. And her sights are set directly at men.

She wrote a Cliff’s Notes version of her thread on her blog:

If you want to stop abortion, you need to prevent unwanted pregnancies. And men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies. No for real, they are. Perhaps you are thinking: IT TAKES TWO! And yes, it does take two for _intentional_ pregnancies.

But ALL unwanted pregnancies are caused by the irresponsible ejaculations of men. Period. Don’t believe me? Let me walk you through it. Let’s start with this: women can only get pregnant about 2 days each month. And that’s for a limited number of years.

Here’s the whole thread. It’s long, but totally worth the read.

Blair’s controversial tweet storm have been liked hundreds of thousands of time, with the original tweet earning nearly 200,000 likes since it was posted on Thursday, September, 13.

The reactions have earned her both praise and scorn.

Most of the scorn was from men.

But Blair wouldn’t budge.

For other men, the tweet thread was a real eye-opener.

Women everywhere applauded Blair’s bold thread.
