Unfortunately due to the pressure to constantly produce record, hip-hop has lost a lot of its mysterious quality. However, “Chitty Bang” rapper Leikeli47 maintains enough for her peers. Between her signature bandana face covering to her sporadic drops, Leikeli47 gets a kick out of keeping fans on their toes.
Well, it has been two years since Leikeli47’s last studio, Shape Up, hit streaming platforms. So that means she has something in the tuck ready to go. Yesterday (October 14), Leikeli47 confirmed those suspensions by announcing her next project.
Over on her official Instagram page, Leikeli47 revealed her next body of work, Leikeli Ft. 47, is set to drop on Friday, October 25.
In a subsequent upload, Los Angeles fans have the chance to experience the forthcoming record in-person. An album listening event and live performance with Leikeli47 is scheduled to take place at Jumpman LA starting at 8 pm local time. Find more information here.
Based on the messaging of her album’s cover Leikeli47 is ready to step into the light. Supporters believe that means she could ditch the face coverings. During an interview with Vibe, Leikeli47 revealed why she chooses to protect her identity. “I feel like the Dark Knight, or one of those superheroes, or Superman,” she said. “The mask, it represents freedom. I’m free with it on.”
However, it could also confirm rumors that she’s departed from her label, RCA Records. Over on the company’s current artists’ directory, Leikeli47 no longer appears.
In June, Ravyn Lenae announced that she would be taking her talents and Bird’s Eye album on the road. After sharing her fan-loved track “Dream Girl,” featuring Ty Dolla Sign supporters began to set aside their money for Ravyn Lenae’s North American run.

According to TMZ, Dr. Dre has been served with a temporary restraining order by his from marriage counselor. A judge has ordered the mogul to stay away from Dr. Charles Sophy following harassment claims.
In a connected legal matter, Dr. Sophy sued Dr. Dre for $10 million accusing him of “malicious campaign of harassment” that supposed lasted a year and a half. Dr. Sophy said after being hired for “joint psychotherapist-patient relationship” by the former couple Dr. Dre allegedly blamed Sophy for causing further friction among the family.
Now, Dr. Dre’s attorney attorney, Howard King, has issued a response to the outlet. “Mr. Sophy got some text messages in 2023 from an angry patient who had been mistreated,” he said. “Along with his entire family, by a self-proclaimed psychiatric expert. Nothing has changed since 2023 that would warrant this desperate filing and attempt for attention other than Mr. Young’s refusal to drop his confidential efforts to have Sophy’s license terminated by the Osteopathic Medical Board.”
A prior statement shared by Dr. Dre’s representative attempted to provide context to the conflict, saying: “In gross violation of all applicable standards of care, Dr. Sophy inserted himself into a contentious divorce while he simultaneously ‘treated’ not only Mr. and Mrs. Young, but their children. He was terminated when it was revealed that he was encouraging one of their children to take sides against Mr. Young, even encouraging his son to go to the press with false allegations in order to force a financial settlement that he recommended.”
However, Dr. Sophy has slammed the Medical Board investigation attempts in a separate lawsuit.
Aaron Rodgers may not be what he once was as a four-time NFL MVP, but despite his age and limited mobility post-Achilles injury, he still has one of the best arms in the NFL. When given time, he can absolutely send it, and over his career he has punished teams that give him time to chuck it downfield at the end of halves, completing three Hail Mary passes in his career entering Monday night against the Bills.
That total is now up to four successful Hail Mary throws, as the Bills opted to rush just two with eight seconds to play in the first half and the Jets with the ball near midfield, allowing Rodgers to load up and huck one to the end zone, where Allen Lazard hauled it in over a trio of Bills defenders to make it a 20-17 game at the half — the ball got ripped out after Lazard was already on the ground, making it a clean catch for a TD despite initially being called incomplete by the first official.
It’s an incredible play by Lazard, who uses his size to box out the Bills defensive backs to make the play, but it really is unbelievable how often Rodgers is able to pull this off. As Troy Aikman joked on the broadcast, it’s just throwing it up and hoping your guys can make a play, but Rodgers does have a knack for putting the right amount of air under the ball to make it a true jump ball and let his taller receivers out-leap smaller DBs. While this one wasn’t a game-winner, it did keep the Jets in the game after Josh Allen drove the Bills down to make it 20-10 with under 30 seconds to play in the quarter.
Pharrell Williams’ life story is officially on the big screen. The famed producer’s Lego style biopic, Piece By Piece, can be viewed at your nearest theater and to promote it Pharrell is opening up about some major moments in his career.
During an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Pharrell made a shocking confession about his optimistic hit, “Happy.” The track, which featured in Despicable Me 2 and its soundtrack served as positive reinforcement for listeners. But according to Pharrell writing the smash “broke him.”
“I had written 9 songs that were rejected,” he said. “It was only until you were out of ideas, and you asked yourself a rhetorical question, and you came back with a sarcastic answer, and that’s what ‘Happy’ was. How do you make a song about a person that’s so happy that nothing can bring them down? And I sarcastically answered it and put music to it, and that sarcasm became the song, and that broke me.”
However, Pharrell managed to find the silver lining, saying: “It’s so crazy for us to think like as individuals, everything comes from us. Your ideas, everything that you get, is coming from a library of existence. Nothing is new under the sun.”
In the past, Pharrell admitted that after a while he grew annoyed with the record just like the rest of us after it become unavoidable.

Today (October 14), Diddy was allegedly named in half a dozen new filings. According to USA Today, six of a whooping alleged 120 victims (uncovered by AVA Law Group attorneys Tony Buzbee and Andrew Van Arsdale) have formally filed lawsuit against the disgraced mogul.
In the cases, two Jane Does and four John Does, accuse Diddy of rape, sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Of the six alleged victims, one accuser said they were 16 years old at the time of the supposed assault. The incidents outlined in the lawsuit allegedly took between between 1995 through 2021. Deep within the documents, the outlet claims several of Diddy’s businesses as listed as defendants similar to Cassie’s bombshell filing back in November 2023.
Buzbee says the public should expect more civil filings as the law form is ready to submit more on behalf of their unidentified clients. However, a formal number was not shared. Diddy is currently in jail as he was denied bond three times by a judge. Find more information about Diddy’s upcoming here.
Diddy maintains his innocence in connection with the criminal offensive he was charged with.
But in 2025, don’t expect The Cure to slow down. Yesterday (October 13), The Cure’s frontman Robert Smith teased the group’s major plans for 2025. In a sit down for supporters (viewable here), Smith revealed The Cure will not only tour again in 2025, but they are working on something special for their group’s 50th anniversary in 2028.
“We’ll probably be playing quite regularly through until the next anniversary,” he said. “The 2028 anniversary! It’s looming on the horizon. The 2018 one, I started to think about in late 2016, thinking, ‘I’ve got a year and a half, it’s easy!’ And yet I still didn’t manage to get there in time. Now, I’m starting to think, ‘2028, I must get things in order’; so [that’s] the documentary film and things like that.”
If you are concerned about Smith’s age, don’t worry he’s already taken that into consideration. “I’m 70 in 2029, and that’s the 50th anniversary of the first Cure album,” he said. “That’s it, that really is it. If I make it that far, that’s it. In the intervening time, I’d like us to include playing concerts as part of the overall plan of what we’re going to do. I’ve loved it; the last 10 years of playing shows have been the best 10 years of being in the band. It pisses all over the other 30 years! It’s been great.”
A formal tour schedule for The Cure hasn’t been release yet. But, just with all things The Cure a surprise announcement is imminent.
Beatlemania is back at least in film form. Fans of The Beatles can relive their rise to popularity in the US next month.
Thanks to Disney+, Beatles ’64, a new documentary from producer Martin Scorsese and director David Tedeschi, will take supporters of the “Blackbird” musicians into their first visit to the country. Starting November 29, Disney+ subscribers are welcome to watch never-before-seen footage from documentarians Albert and David Maysles (restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand), live performances from the band’s debut US concert, and The Beatles’ appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show (demixed by WingNut Films and remixed by Giles Martin).
Beatles ’64‘s synopsis outlines the historic nature of the film, which reads: “On February 7, 1964, The Beatles arrived in New York City to unprecedented excitement and hysteria. From the instant they landed at Kennedy Airport, met by thousands of fans, Beatlemania swept New York and the entire country. Their thrilling debut performance on The Ed Sullivan Show captivated more than 73 million viewers, the most watched television event of its time. Beatles ’64 presents the spectacle, but also tells a more intimate behind the scenes’ story, capturing the camaraderie of John, Paul, George, and Ringo as they experienced unimaginable fame.”
In addition to the previously discussed visual inclusions, Beatles ’64 features brand-new interviews with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn the film’s official executive producers. Additional members of Beatles ’64 production team include Margaret Bodde, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde, and Mikaela Beardsley.
After a couple of weeks without very many new rap albums, the floodgates appear to have opened, giving us one of the most impressive debuts of the last five years, a bunch of indie faves, and a handful of strong singles promising a bunch of fun releases to come.
J. Cole shook up Rap Twitter with the release of “Port Antonio,” which sparked debate about his role in the Drake/Kendrick dustup earlier this year.
Cordae announced his third studio album’s release date alongside the release of new single “Mad As F*ck.”
Lil Durk opted for the “Late Checkout” as he continued his Deep Thoughts rollout with help from Hunxho.
Earthgang put their love for Japanese culture on display — along with T-Pain’s impressive rap talents — with “Love You More.”
Here is the best of hip-hop this week ending October 11, 2024.
Albums/EPs/Mixtapes
BigXthaPlug — Take Care
Texas native BigX is in the midst of a stellar, breakout run, capitalizing on his selection to the 2024 XXL Freshman Class with his high-profile collab with Shaboozey, “Drink Don’t Need No Mix,” and his second studio album.
Curren$y & DJ Fresh — The Encore
After teasing their latest collaboration for the past few weeks, Curren$y and DJ Fresh reunite for their second collaboration of 2024, following up The Tonite Show with 11 more laid-back, casual luxury rap.
Dej Loaf — End Of Summer
Somehow, Dej Loaf has been more productive in the four years she’s been independent than in the six years she was signed (sarcasm font). While her last full-length release may have been four years prior with Sell Sole II, she’s kept her buzz alive with a string of feature verses showing she’s maintained her sharpness since.
Dom Kennedy — Class Of ’95
Another indie rap mainstay, Dom Kennedy has made his name doing a West LA version of what Curren$y does. It may not be for everybody, but it’s definitely for us, especially as long as the sun is shining in Southern California.
Elucid — Revelator
It’s tough to write about the abstract underground movement of which Elucid and frequent collaborator Billy Woods are a part so soon after the news of their compatriot Ka’s passing. But the show goes on. If you’ve checked out any of his Armand Hammer output with Woods, you pretty much know what to expect.
GloRilla — Glorious
GloRilla pays off fans for their patience with a debut album that is already being counted among the year’s best. Thanks to her, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Rapsody, and Tierra Whack, I may not have to include a single Y chromosome in my year-end roundup.
Singles/Videos
BabyTron — “Really Jimmy?”
I’m becoming increasingly convinced that Detroit syllable slinger BabyTron doesn’t have an “off” switch. He’s dropped something like 20 music videos of his own this year alone, and that’s without counting features such as Eminem’s “Tobey.” He’s going to make rap fans love him, even if it’s just because he’s worn them down with volume.
Skepta — “Why Lie?” Feat. Flo Milli
Grime mainstay Skepta transforms yet again on his latest, delivering a slinky, romantic banger that sounds different from most of his previous output, yet still doesn’t sound out of place.
That Mexican OT — “War Wounds” Feat. Maxo Kream & Lil Keke
Two of Texas’ fast-rising breakout stars team up with one of the Lone Star’s state heroes in Lil Keke, making for a vintage Houston block beater.
Wynne — “Bad Girl”
The Portland standout hits another twist in her approach; trading in the upbeat, club-ready tracks of her last EP, Some Like It Hot, for a more wordy, cerebral edge on her upcoming project. Conductor Williams provides a soulful loop for the backpackers, while Wynne serves up sensual rhymes that show you can have the best of both worlds.
Don Toliver kicked off his Psycho Tour over the weekend in Portland, Oregon, and as a result, we now have the setlist for all those looking forward to the Houston rapper bringing his new moto-themed album Hardstone Psycho to an arena near them. According to setlist.fm, the vast majority of the setlist does come from his latest album, with only one song from its immediate predecessor, Love Sick; the second most songs are from his 2020 debut, Heaven Or Hell. You can check out the full setlist below.
