More so than any other year in recent memory, 2020 has brought a lot of unexpected things to the table, and one of them has been the revival of Fleetwood Mac. It all came thanks to Nathan Apodaca’s viral TikTok video in which he skateboards and listens to “Dreams” while drinking cranberry juice, a moment that introduced a new generation to Fleetwood Mac. Now he has kept the vibe going by making a new video, this time to Stevie Nicks’ latest.

The new clip is basically a re-creation of the first one, but this time, there’s no cranberry juice and the song playing is Miley Cyrus’ new single “Edge Of Midnight,” which mashes up her own “Midnight Sky” with Nicks’ solo classic “Edge Of Seventeen.”

In a recent interview, Nicks said she’s “tickled pink” about her band’s 1977 single suddenly enjoying a new wave of popularity. She also offered some advice for young fans who might be interested in the group now: “If the young kids start listening to Fleetwood Mac, start with the first album and just go through them. Sit down and be in it for the long run, and you’ll have the best time.”

Good news for fans of the O.G. Jurassic Park trio because not only are they all back for Jurassic World: Dominion, but the movie has finally wrapped after multiple setbacks. Filming on the dino-franchise blockbuster resumed in July (at Pinewood Studios In London) amid loads of pandemic-prompted protocols that apparently grew to include 40,000+ COVID tests for cast and crew before all was said and done. Along the way, positive tests caused some slowdowns, but it’s all coming together now.

Sam Neill, who was previously excited to reunite with his hat, tapped out an expression of relief on Twitter while sharing a tweeted wrap photo from director Colin Trevorrow.

“There were days we thought we might not make it. But we have…we pulled off what seemed well nigh impossible,” Neill wrote. “Great crew. Lovely cast . Top director. Phew- and CELEBRATIONS.”

Indiewire further reports that around 100 days of shooting went down, excluding the pauses, as the cast and crew did the bubble-thing to finish the movie. “We lived together, ate together, told stories, shared our fears and hopes, played Frisbee on the lawn,” explained Trevorrow. “There was a lot of laughter at a time when it has been hard to find things to laugh about.”

Jurassic World: Dominion is expected to arrive on June 10, 2022.

After 11 months of 2020 culminated with the first big break of the year in the 2020 election, we could all really use a vacation. Fortunately, Rico Nasty is here to offer just such an escape from the norm, with her long-awaited major-label debut album, Nightmare Vacation. While she’s been teasing the release since spring, today, she finally revealed a hard release date: December 4, which means it’s less than a month away.

After being dubbed Cardi B’s pick for “next big hip-hop star” at the beginning of the year, Rico began rolling out a string of well-received singles even without a solid release date. She kicked things off in March with the video for “Lightning,” then followed up in April with “Popstar.” Next, she released the 100 Gecs-produced “iPhone” in August after collaborating with Kali Uchis on “Aquí Yo Mando.”

Her most recent video, the bizarre and surreal “Own It,” appeared to be the biggest of the bunch, suggesting that the album might be right around the corner — a prediction “Don’t Like Me” with Don Toliver and Gucci Mane seemed to confirm. Now, with an official release date, the Sugar Trap pioneer looks primed to complete the world takeover promised by her Bronx-born predecessor.

Nightmare Vacation is due 12/4 via Atlantic Records.

Not a whole lot has been revealed about Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland‘s upcoming Star Wars series for Disney+, but she recently pulled back the curtain (a little bit) to let fans know what to expect from her “female-centric” project. While sitting down for a lengthy interview with Fantastic Frankey, Headland talked about her love of Star Wars and how that will feed into the show’s DNA, which she likened to a religious experience.

“I would say it’s in a pocket of the universe and a pocket of the timeline that we don’t know much about,” Headland said via Coming Soon. “I kind of see, if Star Wars is a religion. I like to think of my show as a tent revival. You can come over if you want to. We’re going to be talking about some cool stuff.”

The series, which is rumored to have “martial arts elements,” will also explore the Star Wars universe “geographically” not unlike an Indiana Jones movie, according to Headland. She also clarified the “female-centric” approach in an attempt to stave off backlash in the Star Wars community, which has not reacted in the best ways to new female characters like Daisy Ridley‘s Rey or Kelly Marie Tran‘s Rose. However, that doesn’t mean Headland is abandoning her vision for the Disney+ series.

“Just because my show is technically, yes, ‘female-centric’, meaning it centers around a female protagonist, I don’t think that necessarily excludes men from that space,” Headland said via Comic Book. “I relate to male characters all the time. I root for Mando. I root for Luke… An inclusive space means an inclusive space. But at the same time, I think that just because something has a female protagonist doesn’t necessarily mean it’s only for women.”

Blue narrates the popular children’s book, which details a father’s struggle to style his young daughter’s hair. Cherry wrote the book as an adaptation of his Oscar-winning 2019 short film by the same name which was shown ahead of The Angry Birds Movie 2. Earlier this year, HBO Max ordered a 12-episode animated series based on the short.

We all knew this was going to happen — the only mystery was the price tag. The Travis Scott action figure from his month-long collaboration with McDonald’s has finally appeared on StockX and now we know, folks believe the limited-edition toy (only five were given away via Twitter sweepstakes!) is worth no less than $55,000. However, whoever actually won the toy may have set their sights a bit high; the current leading bid is less than 10% of the asking price, at just $4,050 as of press time. It’s still all profit though; that’s a PlayStation 5 for Christmas for every member of a nuclear family.

The action figure was the culmination of a four-week rollout of Travis’ collaborative merch with McDonald’s. Each week, a new drop of Cactus Jack and golden arches-branded apparel and bric-a-brac appeared on Travis’ website, selling out completely within a couple of days. Travis’ meal at McDonald’s — a special incorporating a custom Quarter Pounder, Sprite, and barbecue sauce — was a smashing success, offsetting a pandemic-driven dip in sales. It was so successful that McDonald’s looked to repeat its feat with another entertainer: Colombian Reggaeton star J Balvin.

The Travis Scott figure was used in the commercial advertising the special and was only available for fans who quote-tweeted the entry post. Travis himself has gone on to partner with more creative partners such as PlayStation and Fortnite.

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Fresh off the announcement that he signed with Atlantic and has a new album, Michael, on the way next year, Mike Will Made-It kicked off his new label relationship with “What That Speed Bout?!.” Mike got Nicki Minaj on the track (along with Youngboy Never Broke Again), and Mike and Minaj have a history of hitting when they collab, which is true here as well.

Maluma — “Hawái (Remix)” Feat. The Weeknd

Maluma’s “Hawái” was a Latin hit this summer, but now he has given it new life for fall by recruiting The Weeknd for a remix. Further more, it’s also the first time Weeknd fans get the chance to hear him sing in Spanish.

2 Chainz — “Quarantine Thick” Feat. Mulatto

Lifestyles around the world have become more sedentary thanks to the pandemic, and 2 Chainz and Mulatto find beauty in that on their new collaboration, “Quarantine Thick.” 2 Chainz celebrates the excess pounds of the lady in his life, saying on the chorus, “She been quarantine, now lil’ shawty thick / She been quarantine, now lil’ shawty hips wider.”

Nav and Wheezy — Emergency Tsunami

Nav has been a consistent force over the past few years, dropping at least a project annually since 2017. He already released his third album, Good Intentions, back in May, but now he has returned (with Wheezy) in tow for a new mixtape, Emergency Tsunami.

24kGoldn — “Mood (Remix)” Feat. Justin Bieber and J Balvin

It’s been a huge year for both 24kGoldn and Justin Bieber, as each artist has spent time at No. 1 thanks to collaborations. Now they have come together (along with another regular chart presence, J Balvin) to continue the legacy of 24kGoldn’s first chart-topper, “Mood.”

Miley Cyrus — “Edge Of Midnight” Feat. Stevie Nicks

Miley Cyrus’ “Midnight Sky” borrows from Stevie Nicks’ “Edge Of Seventeen,” which Cyrus has been forthcoming about. Now, those two worlds have truly mended on a clever new remix titled “Edge Of Midnight,” which blends elements of both songs in a natural-sounding way.

Benee — “Happen To Me”

Benee’s latest references her mental health journey, which she recently told Uproxx is a theme on her upcoming album: “I think with this album, I haven’t really held back on experimenting with genres and even lyrics. Maybe I would have been more hesitant to do some of the things that I’ve done on this album in my previous bodies of work.”

Darkside — Psychic Live July 17 2017

For a quick spell a few years back, Nicolás Jaar and Dave Harrington teamed up as Darkside, and given the pair’s talent, their sole album together was beloved. Now, they have taken a trod down memory lane by unearthing a previously unheard live set and sharing it as a new EP.

Swae Lee, Tyga, and Lil Mosey — “Krabby Step”

The SpongeBob SquarePants franchise has a more impressive musical history than some may realize, and now a trio of modern favorites have joined the storied universe with “Krabby Step.” The track (from Swae Lee, Tyga, and Lil Mosey) comes from the upcoming film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge On The Run, and it transforms some of the show’s classic music and moments into a genuine banger.

St. Vincent — “Piggy”

Nine Inch Nails just got inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and to celebrate, St. Vincent decided to cover “Piggy.” Calling the track one of her NIN favorites, Annie Clark said of it, “When I took this song apart to cover it, it took me a long time to really understand the immensity of the groove. It’s a dark, industrial reggae. Muscular, but never as distorted as you imagined it when you think of it in your head. […] They made a complicated thing seem easy and made big, bold sonic choices.”

Jon Hamm is opening up about the surreal experience of filming Top Gun: Maverick with Tom Cruise, and he has nothing but positive things to say about working with the biggest movie star on the planet. While talking about surviving quarantine life with Men’s Health, the Mad Men actor raved about Cruise’s professionalism and now it trickles down to the whole set.

“He is 100 percent movie star and 100 percent a leader,” Hamm said. “On Mad Men, I learned that if the person at the top of the food chain behaves in a certain way, then that’s how the rest of the folks are going to behave. Tom’s always ready. He’s already prepared. He’s always on time. He’s got 900 things going on that you don’t even know about.”

Hamm also got the chance to ask Cruise what it was like returning to the world of Top Gun after all of these years, and the Maverick actor was pumped as always.

You could tell that he was having the time of his life, and that enthusiasm completely washed over the rest of the cast. My first day on set, I said to Tom, “This has to be just surreal for you. Like you’re literally in the same hangar, 30 years later. In nearly the same costume. What’s that like?” And he goes, “Man, it’s unreal. How cool is this?”

As for Hamm’s role in the film, he was a little more coy, but it sounds like he’ll be butting heads with Cruise’s hot-shot pilot. “He’s air boss of the fighter wing. He has a lot of authority and responsibility. When that rubs up against Maverick, there’s friction, as you would guess. I provide the friction.”

Today’s Netflix top-10 is the usual mishmash of random movies (Knock Knock, The Impossible, Mile 22), holiday specials (Operation Christmas Drop, Holidate), acquired titles (Chappelle’s Show, minus one episode), and inexplicably popular children’s entertainment (Cocomelon). In fact, there’s only one Netflix original series on the list, and it’s one of the streamer’s biggest (and best) programs of the year: The Queen’s Gambit.

The Queen’s Gambit has been #1 on the top 10 nearly every day since it was released on October 23, due to glowing reviews from critics, positive word of mouth from subscribers, and Anya Taylor-Joy (who we recently spoke to) staring into your soul.

Also, Benny’s hat. It’s mostly because of the hat.

“The limited series has become one of Netflix’s biggest success stories of the year, and that’s saying something considering how quarantine has increased Netflix viewership,” Forbes reports. “Queen’s Gambit may not be producing any Tiger King-level memes, but it sure seems like more people have probably watched the adventures of Beth Harmon than Joe Exotic.” Tiger King was reportedly watched by 34 million users within its first 10 days of release, so that’s mighty impressive. Netflix’s tranquility has been refurbished.

The real Queen’s Gambit was the viewership records we set along the way.
