Janelle Monáe Took The Strip Club Stage, Hit The Pole, And Showed Off Her Dance Moves

There was a minute there, when Janelle Monáe began the promotional cycle for her album Lipstick Lover, when it seemed like every day, she was grabbing headlines for primarily NSFW or NSFW-adjacent reasons. She turned heads by dancing at a Met Gala after party and then turned even more with a wet t-shirt teaser video, and it continued from there. Monáe has been quieter on that front lately, but recently, the multi-hyphenate was spotted at Magic City, Atlanta’s famous strip club.

In a brief video clip, Monáe wears a relatively conservative dress as her own “Lipstick Lover” plays in the background. Standing on stage and holding onto a pole, Monáe busts out some simple dance moves that are good enough to get some dollar bills thrown in the air.

Monáe found herself in Atlanta as part of her tour in support of Lipstick Lover. She performed at the city’s Fox Theater on October 6, and Quavo even popped up to rap his part from Monáe’s recently released “Champagne Sh*t” remix,” which also features Latto.

Yesterday (October 9), Monáe shared a social media post reflecting on the show, writing, “I fail every time I try and describe this experience. Our safe oasis in every city. 6 more to go and I don’t want it to end. I love y’all so much and thank you for being on this journey with us.”

Janelle Monáe is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Jimmy Kimmel Torched Donald Trump For Making The Israel Attacks ‘All About Himself’

On Saturday the Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a devastating attack on Israel. Among the places hit included a music festival in the southern part of the nation. So far over a thousand in both nations are dead. Hamas has taken 150 hostage. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly declared war, vowing a swift and punishing reprisal. The strife has upended the world and rendered those reporting on it speechless. But Donald Trump had a predictably narcissistic response, as Jimmy Kimmel noted on his latest show.

Using his opening monologue to address the “nightmarish situation,” Kimmel also slammed the former president after he “immediately found a way to make it all about himself.” He referenced a post Trump made on Truth Social, in which he claimed the Israel attacks, like the war in Ukraine, “would never have happened if I were president.”

“That’s right,” Kimmel responded, “if he was president we’d all be blissfully downing jiggers of bleach. There’d be no war anywhere.”

Kimmel also noted that Trump subsequently posted a photo of him in his younger, leaner years playing tennis. He even gave the big guy a new name: “Subpoena Williams.”

Trump spent Saturday night, when the attacks began, at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he demonstrated what Kimmel called the “deep well of insight he has into this ongoing conflict in the Middle East.” It showed him on autopilot, badly mispronouncing Hamas so that it sounded more like “hummus.”

Trump showed more enthusiasm in another segment from the rally, in which he again railed against Joe Biden’s beach pics, even brazenly claiming that he had a “much better body.”

“On the day one of our closest allies is hit by a devastating terrorist attack, Trump is on stage talking about how much better his body is than Joe Biden’s,” Kimmel told the crowd.

You can see Kimmel’s monologue in the tweet embedded above.

An Incredible Double-Play Clinched A Thrilling Game 2 Win For The Braves Over The Phillies

Through more than five innings on Monday evening, the Atlanta Braves were utterly lifeless. After losing Game 1 in shutout fashion, the game’s best offense was no-hit for nearly six innings by Philadelphia’s Zack Wheeler in Game 2, with the Phillies taking a 4-0 lead that seemed to be almost insurmountable. Then, the Braves began to chip away, first with a manufactured run with two outs in the sixth and then with a pair of two-run home runs from Travis d’Arnaud and Austin Riley to take their first lead of the series.

Erasing a four-run deficit would be cause for enough excitement in any playoff baseball game but, after Atlanta took the lead in the eighth, there were more fireworks to come. In fact, Phillies star Bryce Harper earned a walk to open the inning, prompting a pitching change and, after a harmless first out, Nick Castellanos smashed a baseball 392 feet to center field at Truist Park in Atlanta.

Fortunately for the Braves, 392 feet wasn’t enough to clear the fence, with center fielder Michael Harris II making a wonderful catch to begin a game-ending double play.

Not only did Harris save a likely game-tying run with the catch, but he quickly flung the ball back to the infield. While the initial execution was not perfect for Atlanta, third baseman Austin Riley stepped in, secured the ball, and delivered a strike to first base to double off Harper, who understandably strayed far from first base thinking he would score. In short, this play would have been wild under any circumstances, but for it to cap a playoff game in which the favored home team overcame a four-run deficit was the stuff of baseball madness.

The Braves and Phillies will reconvene on Wednesday, with the action moving to Philadelphia for Game 3 and Game 4. Overall, an argument could be make that Philadelphia did its job in stealing a split on the road, but Game 2’s finish will have everyone talking until Game 3 begins in nearly 48 hours.
