Little Simz’s Tense ‘Flood’ Is The First Single From Her New Album, ‘Lotus’

Little Simz’s big 2025 is here.

The rapper has announced a new album, Lotus, the title of which is meant to embody “renewal and growth, mirroring her evolving artistry and the album’s thematic voyage through life’s intricate phases,” according to a press release.

Little Simz also shared the video for tense first single “Flood,” which features Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly and production from Miles Clinton James. “Not the type that would trip off nostalgia / Told lies but my silence is louder,” the Coldplay collaborator raps over a percussive beat. “Spend nuff, but my finances louder / I’m not the type to abuse all my power.”

You can watch the video for “Flood” above.

This June, Little Simz is also curating the 30th edition of Meltdown, the U.K.’s longest-running artist-curated music festival held at London’s Southbank Centre. “Little Simz’ ability to forge new genre-defying ideas and her ambition to inspire the next generation of creators aligns with what the Southbank Centre’s artistic programme and vision stands for,” Southbank Centre head of contemporary music Jane Beese said. ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ And ‘Gossip Girl’ Alum Michelle Trachtenberg Has Died At Age 39, And Her Co-Stars Are Paying Tribute

michelle-trachtenberg-lg

Michelle Trachtenberg, who had her first big break with Harriet The Spy and forged into TV primetime territory with the CW’s Gossip Girl and the WB’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has passed away at age 39.

ABC News reported from law enforcement sources that the actress was found dead by a family member in her NYC apartment on Wednesday morning. She had reportedly “recently underwent a liver transplant and may have been experiencing complications.” Further, “Trachtenberg is believed to have died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.”

Upon word of this news, multiple co-stars immediately paid tribute to Trachtenberg with her Harriet co-star, Rosie O’Donnell, telling US Weekly, “I loved her very much. She struggled the last few years.” Likewise, fellow Buffy alum David Boreanz expressed his sympathies in an Instagram story, in which he wrote, “[H]orrible news. R.I.P. and prayers to her and her family.” And fellow Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick chose the same medium to declare, “So sad to hear of the passing of @michelletrachtenberg. Sending prayers.”

Trachtenberg gathered up a wide array of film and TV credits over a few decades. Those projects further include a guest stint on the Gossip Girl reboot, Sleepy Hollow, Weeds, 17 Again, and EuroTrip, but she remains best known for her portrayal of Dawn Summers, sister to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s title character, on the beloved Buffy series.

At present, her cause of death is unknown pending autopsy results.

A Video Of Birdman Apparently Falling Asleep During A Performance Has Some Fans Concerned About The Cash Money Chief

birdman
Getty Image

The Hot Boys’ recent run of reunion shows has brought joy and nostalgia to hip-hop fans, but a video currently circulating on social media from one of those shows is also giving fans reason for concern. In the video, Cash Money Records founder Birdman can be seen apparently falling asleep standing up as his cohorts perform around him, prompting B.G. to check on him mid-performance.

As one fan put it in a quote tweet, “I’ve been going to Lexington Market my whole life, I know what you are!” Others are making references to “dog food,” a common street nickname for heroin and other opioids, and resurfacing streams of one of Birdman’s earliest singles from the ’90s, “I Need A Bag Of Dope.” “All these male entertainers are acting like they’re exempt from getting old and healthy issues,” warned one fan. “Seriously, pack it up and take care of yourself the road outlast everybody.”

Meanwhile, some more spiteful fans reminded other users about the kerfuffle over the Super Bowl Halftime Show, pointing out that this could be one reason why Roc Nation opted to go with the red-hot Kendrick Lamar over the hometown heroes. Hopefully, the show of concern from fans can serve as a wake-up call for the New Orleans crew to take better care of themselves — even if it just means getting more sleep on the tour bus.

Chxrry22’s Snow-Covered ‘Just Like Me’ Video Is Red Hot

Chxrry22 is one of the buzziest names in R&B at the moment, and on Wednesday (February 26), she released a music video for the self-assured single “Just Like Me.” It features the “Poppin Out (Mistakes)” singer in front of a snow-covered mountain while wearing a heavy winter coat and posing next to a snowmobile. Despite the icy visuals, the video itself is red hot.

You can watch the “Just Like Me” video above, and check out Chxrry22 opening for FLO on their North American tour.

In an interview with Uproxx, Chxrry22 shared her earliest memory of music. “I feel like music was a part of me before I was even born,” she said. “Both of my parents could sing and they were in a choir, so they would make my brothers and I sing Ethiopian songs and record us. I’m not even kidding when I say that in every single home video I have from my childhood, I’m singing. I don’t think they thought that one of their children would actually grow up to be a musician, but I think it was their love language and also a way to teach us our language.”

And who’s on Chxrry22’s R&B Mount Rushmore? “Whitney, Marvin Gaye, Anita Baker, D’Angelo, Keyshia Cole,” she answered. “I think that’s a few too many, but you get the point.”

Everything New On Netflix For March 2025 Including ‘The Electric State,’ ‘Beauty In Black,’ And ‘Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney’

electric-state-lg
Netflix

Netflix is keeping the streaming fires burning as winter gives way to spring. ‘Tis the time of year when viewing habits perhaps shift ever so slightly into the later evening when jokes from John Mulaney and an expensive (to Netflix) popcorn-crunching film will hit the spot. Additions to the back library are likewise geared towards laughs and escapism (the Friday movies, Wedding Crashers), and Taylor Sheridan devotees will appreciate the sudden appearance of Sicario, the acclaimed precursor to his current, lucrative practice of banging out seasons of Paramount+ TV in his writing bunker.

Here’s everything coming to Netflix in March:

The Electric State: (Netflix film 3/14)

Netflix’s commitment to packing big-budgeted feature films with A-listers continues with this little Russo Brothers ditty starring Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Enola Holmes) and Chris Pratt (Guardians Of The Galaxy, Jurassic World). Dig into this adaptation of the same-named graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, who developed a cult following and earned accolades for this retro-futuristic 1990s story about a traveler, a smuggler, and of course a pair of robots. For his part, Stålenhag has raved about the film’s “emotional core of the movie, which is the need for family.”

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black: Season 1 Part 2 (Netflix series 3/6)

Tyler Perry’s empire continues to crank out audience pleasers with the second half of this stripper drama that aims for high drama and does not fail in that endeavor. Do not underestimate the (in the words of this series description) “once-unassuming sex worker” who becomes hell bound for vengeance against a forward-facing wealthy family whose true motives are far more sinister than meets the eye. When it comes to his TV series, Perry does not miss, and his Netflix entries are no exception.

Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney (Netflix series 3/12)

After the success of John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In L.A., the comedic genius returns to this streaming service for 12 weeks of a variety talk show, for which Mulaney is claiming to have no plan. Officially, Netflix calls the series “spontaneous,” and Mulaney is gleefully running with that description by adding, “We will be live globally with no delay.” Even better: “We will never be relevant. We will never be your source for news. We will always be reckless. Netflix will always provide us with data that we will ignore.”

With Love, Meghan: (Netflix series 3/4)

The Duchess of Sussex will launch her newest series that surely will not be met with an unnecessary level of scrutiny. Alright, scratch the sarcasm. People are gonna pounce all over this series, and Meghan Markle will get through it, but first, she’s sharing gardening and cooking tips from a lavish California estate.

Adam Cole Is Exactly Where He Wants To Be In AEW With The Undisputed Kingdom

02___DEATH_RIDERS_VS_UNDISPUTED_KINGDOM___02_12_25_002
AEW

Physically and mentally, the last two years have been the most challenging time of Adam Cole’s career. A severe concussion threatened his career and kept him out of action for nine months. A freak ankle injury followed, which kept him on the shelf for over a year.

Cole says suffering back-to-back injuries the magnitude of the concussion and ankle made it hard to stay positive. No matter how bad his ankle injury was, there was never a question of if he’d be able to return to the ring.

“The ankle was probably the most mentally challenging in the sense of not being able to walk around, having to relearn how to put weight on your ankles, and the slow recovery process of physical therapy and things like that. Being so close to the concussion, if I didn’t have the support of my family and my friends and my loved ones and the fans for that matter, I don’t know how I would have done it,” Cole tells Uproxx Sports.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have as much support as I did to help me get through it. Cause it was absolutely the most mentally challenging portion of my career so far.”

When Cole returned in October, he was thrown into the deep end with three singles matches against some of AEW’s best. Up for the challenge, Cole’s only concern was how much the ankle would weigh on his mind. He calls it the “ultimate victory” for him to get out there and not worry or think about the ankle at this point.

“As far as my training, and how I’m feeling both out of the ring and inside the ring, I feel great. Mentally, I’m in such a good place because I’m getting to do what I love to do,” Cole says. “I’ve overcome these challenges, so I’m ready to rock and roll in 2025. I feel healthier than I’ve felt in a long time.”

There’s never a good time for injuries, but Cole’s ankle exploding derailed one of AEW’s most intriguing stories in the MJF-Cole feud. An unlikely duo that went on to headline AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in front of more than 80,000 fans never quite landed resolution from their fallout before his injury. Cole would suffer his ankle injury a month later and at AEW World’s End would reveal he’d turned on MJF.

But the feud fizzled with Cole on the shelf, only to pick up elements of the rivalry upon his return.

“It’s unfortunate but things like this happen in professional wrestling all the time. It’s part of what makes wrestling so fascinating because we constantly have to adjust and adapt whether it’s on a week to week basis or a longterm basis,” Cole says, reflecting on the rivalry.

“We definitely put a lot of work into the whole Adam Cole-MJF program. So it certainly threw a giant wrench into the plans. But we tried to adapt as best as we could and make things work as best as we could. And I think we did a pretty good job.”

After defeating Cole at AEW World’s End in December, MJF has spun off on his own against Adam Page, while the former has reunited with Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong. On their own for now, Cole “absolutely” thinks there’s more runway to return to his program with MJF eventually.

“I think there’s more. I think currently what we’re doing and being separate from each other, I think it absolutely is the right call. As me and Roddy and Kyle are reestablishing this trio that we have together, which I’m super excited about. Obviously MJF is doing his own thing as well,” Cole says.

“I think based on the program that we did, based on the chemistry that we had at some point, Adam Cole versus MJF, or Adam Cole with MJF, I think is something that absolutely could be returned to down the line. I think it, naturally felt like there needed to be a wrap up with where things were left off.”

Cole says the prospect of reuniting with O’Reilly and Strong ahead of his return was a great motivator and gave him something tangible to look forward to.

“I’ve worked either against or with Kyle O’Reilly since I was 19 years old. I’ve just been attached at the hip to Kyle O’Reilly for my whole career. I was in Kyle O’Reilly’s wedding. We talk all the time. Roderick Strong is one of my absolute best friends, not just in the wrestling business, but in the world. Again, he’s a guy I talk to every single day, I think the world of, it’s been a joy working with him,” Cole says.

“The only thing better than doing what you love to do and doing what you’re passionate about is getting to do it alongside the people that you care about. So getting to have this run in AEW with Kyle and Roddy is, again, I don’t mean to sound corny, but it’s a dream come true. It really is. It’s exactly what I wanted to do. I’m excited to be doing it. I think the fans are excited about it. I just love those guys so much and I’m so stoked for what we got going on this year.”

Cole, O’Reilly, and Strong had a shot at winning the Trios Championship against the Death Riders, and it’s not something he’ll rule out vying for again. Whether it’s together as a trio, Strong and O’Reilly working as a tag team, or Cole competing for singles gold, winning a championship in AEW is top of mind for Cole at this stage in his career.

“I think at some point in 2025, me, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O‘Reilly being the Trios Champions would be awesome. I feel like there is more that we would like to do as well. I think Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly as a tag team are one of the best tag teams in the world. I can see them getting their hands on the AEW Tag Team Championships. I myself have never held singles gold or gold at all for that matter, within AEW. So winning a singles championship, that would be a huge goal of mine too,” Cole continues.

“I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it. For as long as I possibly can, I want to be the AEW World Champion someday. So whether that happens this year or not, we’ll see. But that is always and will always be a goal of mine.”

Cole says he’s just excited to continue growing alongside AEW whether championship gold is in his path this year or not. With the promotion firmly simulcasting on Max, a huge show in Texas at All In this summer, and more big events later this year, there’s plenty of opportunities to take the next step forward in this iteration of the Undisputed Kingdom.

“I’m ready to start this new chapter of my career with two guys that I love and respect more than anyone. And me, Roddy, and Kyle are ready to have the best year that we’ve ever had in AEW,” Cole says. “Whether that be big matches, big events, winning major championships, we’re gonna make 2025 a really special one, and I can’t freaking wait.

For the past couple of years, Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug has been one of the vanguards of the New Texas breakout in hip-hop. Along with fellow rappers like Maxo Kream, That Mexican OT, and Monaleo, BigX has been steadily rising in notoriety, most recently being tapped by Lil Baby for his upcoming WHAM Tour after the release of his breakout album, Take Care. He also appeared as a guest rapper on Shaboozey’s “Drink Don’t Need No Mix” last July, contributing to his rapid rise to stardom beyond the Lone Star State.

Unfortunately, he’s suffered a minor setback in his ascent; according to TMZ, BigX was arrested this morning in his home state and charged with possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. He was pulled over for driving with expired tags, and after approaching the car, officers said they could smell the substance from outside. They also reported finding a loaded handgun in the passenger door pocket. However, possession of the weapon was assigned to BigX’s passenger, a younger relative, who also had a felony warrant in nearby Bexar County.

Both men were taking to Arlington City Jail. So far, there’s no word on bail status or comment from BigX or his management.

Julien Baker & Torres Tell A Heartbreaking Tale On Their New Single ‘Tuesday’

In 2016, Julien Baker and Torres had the idea to make a country album together. Well, it took a while, but that album is finally coming. The two are set to drop Send A Prayer My Way in April and they’ve been sharing songs from the project over the past few months.

The latest song arrives today: “Tuesday.” In the classic country tradition, it’s a storytelling tune, with Torres setting the scene in the first verse: “Left Georgia for Tennessee when I was 18 / Met a girl named Tuesday who shined her light on me / She was five foot nine with a storm in her eye / And of all the shoulders on which she could’ve cried / She picked mine.” From there, though, the story takes a sad turn.
