Dog gets a neighborhood send off for his last walk after terminal cancer diagnosis

Humans and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly and any other pair cliché you can think of. We see those cute furry faces and fall in love, excusing their mischievous behaviors because they used their most powerful weapon—puppy eyes. Humans are acutely aware that the time they have with their dogs is short since a dog’s lifespan is usually 15 years or less depending on breed and size.

As they get older, we do what we can to make them more comfortable and start giving them extra treats here and there as a way to make sure they feel special while they’re here. But it’s not just the owners that get attached to family pets. If your dog is friendly, they may be well acquainted with the mailman, the coffee shop baristas or the entire neighborhood, which may make saying goodbye a little more complicated.

A dog named Mellow has been making friends around his neighborhood for several years with his human companion, and recently a note appeared in everyone’s mailboxes with a very important announcement.

Mellow was diagnosed with terminal cancer and would be put down soon. The letter was written from the perspective of the dog and included a map of his walking route.

“I have definitely slowed down throughout the years and unfortunately that is why you are receiving this letter. I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and will be leaving for doggie heaven in June,” the note reads. “I’m not sure exactly when I will go, but each day over the past few weeks has been a struggle for me to get around the neighborhood like I am used to.”

Mellow goes on to say, “Therefore, while I still can, I will be marching around the neighborhood on Saturday June 3rd from 7-8PM and would love to say goodbye to you face-to-face if you are available.”

Letter to neighbors from Mellow

Kevin, Mellow’s human, put a special treat in the letters and provided an estimate of when the pair would arrive at certain houses. The neighborhood didn’t disappoint. They all came out to give him treats and head pats and to say their goodbyes to the neighborhood’s goodest boy. Kids made signs and drawings for Mellow, and others stopped for pictures with the sweet dog.

In the letter, Mellow mentioned that he would also miss seeing the other dogs in the neighborhood that like to come out and play with him. On his last walk, the old boy looked full of excitement as all the attention was focused on him before he headed home for a more restful few weeks.

“What a beautiful love story. May every dog know that kind of love. As for his owner…my heart breaks with you, but with joy for the great love you shared. May that joy be a comfort to you always” one commenter wrote.

“Oh boy my heart is breaking and I’ve never met you but you sure are lucky to find an amazing dad that loves you this much, I can tell you to say goodbye will be hard enough but your dad is willing to hear so many friends say goodbye as well, not an easy day my friend 😥🐕🦺,” another person said.

Mellow has now not only touched hearts around his neighborhood, but also across the internet. Take your rest, sweet Mellow. You’ve been a good boy.

J Hus And Drake’s Flavorful ‘Who Told You’ Challenges The Status Quo In Favor Of Summertime Fun

At the end of last month, UK rapper J Hus made his long-awaited return with his new single “It’s Crazy.” Prior to that, it’d been three years since he released his celebrated second album Big Conspiracy. In that time span, appearances from J Hus were far and few with the most notable coming through a feature on Burna Boy’s “Cloak & Dagger.” At this point, it’s clear that J Hus is back and ready to reach a new level as he checks back in with his new single “Who Told You” alongside no other than Drake.

“Who Told You” is a fun and flavorful record that will indeed find life in the upcoming summer months. On it, J Hus looks to challenge the status quo placed on the tough guys of the world by asking, “Who told you bad man can’t dance?” Regardless of what his life on the streets may look like, J Hus makes it clear that he can have fun just like the rest of us.

Both “It’s Crazy” and “Who Told You” are set to appear on J Hus’ upcoming third album, which is rumored to be titled Don’t Say Militancy. He explained the phrase in a post on his Instagram page. “Don’t say it, do it,” he said. “Don’t say it out loud. Unless you’re gonna do something, don’t even say, ‘I’m gonna do this if you do this’… Don’t do that.” He continued, “But, if you’re gonna do it, then do it. If not, then don’t say nothing about it. That’s what it means. Don’t say it, but do it, represent it.”

You can listen to “Who Told You” in the video above.

Twihards Had A Collective Freak-Out While Initially Confusing The Grim Pat Robertson News For Being About Robert Pattinson

Pat Robertson and Robert Pattinson are two very different people. Despite sharing the same letters in their first and last names, one is a multimillionaire evangelist who galvanized the Christian right. The other? He’s played a sparkling vampire on screen and once blew up a hotel room microwave with his pasta invention. The main difference between these two men though is that one is now dead.

Thankfully, it’s not the guy who played Batman. But that didn’t stop Twihards from having a momentary freak-out over the possibility that the hunk who once played an immortal vampire had bit the dust.

When news broke early this morning that Robertson — who once blamed gay people for 9/11 — had died at the ripe old age of 93, those quickly scrolling through Twitter confused the creator of the Christian Broadcasting Network with the Twilight actor. Again, these are not the same people. One man claimed Hurricane Katrina happened because of the abortion rate in the U.S. and that travelers could get AIDS from towels in Kenya. The other is a delightful weirdo who’s masturbated on screen a total of four times (so far) and likes to tell fake stories about dead clowns on daytime talk shows.

The world probably won’t miss one of them, but we’d be lost without the visionary who once sold “drugs” (to his friends) that ended up just being sawdust shavings with Febreze on them.

Still, now that we know all is well and Pattinson is safely tucked away living his best oddball life, let’s laugh at our momentary panic attack via these tweets.

Charli XCX Wishes Fans ‘Happy Pride’ With The News That She And Robyn Are Cooking Up Some Collaborations

Charli XCX is perpetually full of surprises. Earlier this year, she hopped on a remix of Caroline Polachek’s “Welcome To My Island,” which instantly went viral. It was revealed last month that she’ll be making her feature film debut in the Faces Of Death reboot.

Today (June 8), she divulged that she’s up to even more exciting things. “me and robyn been making songs in the studio. happy pride ;)” she wrote on Twitter.

In 2018, pop legend Robyn shared Honey, her first album in eight years. In 2020, she won the Songwriter Of The Decade NME award, which Charli was also nominated for. “There are so many good songs written by so many good songwriters over this decade,” Robyn said during her acceptance speech. “Some of them I have had the privilege to work with. Two of them are here tonight and I love them both so much. There are lots of other really talented songwriters here tonight — Christine and Charli, Taylor Swift.”

Also in 2020, V Magazine shared a conversation between Charli and Robyn. Charli said, “I’ll never forget when we were on tour in Australia together years ago…You came over to me at some party where I was feeling really nervous and you said, ‘Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks of you. We’ll have fun together, being ourselves.’”

‘The Venture Bros.’ Movie Trailer Promises Betrayal, Conspiracy, And Lots Of Things Blowing Up

The Venture Bros. — which has been called the best superhero television show of all-time (by me just now) — was notorious for its long breaks between seasons. Fans of the Adult Swim series were accustomed to waiting two or three years between new episodes, with only specials to tide them over. Sadly, The Venture Bros. was canceled in 2020, but it’s being brought back one last in the original movie, The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart.

You can watch the trailer above.

The whole gang is here: Dr. Venture, Brock, Hank and Dean, the Monarch, Dr. Mrs. the Monarch, Billy Quizboy, my good friend H.E.L.P.eR, and 700 other characters with names I don’t remember because this show has a deep, dense lore. Forget a post-credits scene. I need a pre-movie recap. Here’s more:

The Venture Bros. are back in an all-new original movie picking up right after the events from the shocking season 7 finale! Doc’s latest invention will either bankrupt Team Venture or launch them to new heights, as Hank searches for himself, Dean searches for Hank, The Monarch searches for answers, and a mysterious woman from their pasts threatens to bring their entire world crashing down on them.

The Venture Bros.: Radiant is the Blood of the Baboon Heart (you have to say the full title every time) will be available to purchase digitally on July 21st, followed by a Blu-ray release on July 25th. Venture Bros.: The Complete Series is also coming out on digital and DVD on June 13th. Purchase it here.

‘The View’s Sara Haines Has No Time For Conservatives Freaking Out Over Masks During Wildfire Smoke Alerts: ‘You Want To Inhale This Stuff? Go Ahead’

As wildfire smoke envelopes the northeast, causing some pretty dystopian pictures to come out of New York City, health officials have encouraged people to wear masks to protect themselves from the dangerous air conditions. If you were around for the coronavirus pandemic, you can probably guess how conservatives reacted to that advice: They didn’t like it.

During Thursday’s episode of The View, the panel showed clips of Fox News anchors freaking out over the return of masks for what’s obviously a temporary situation. As “the left” was accused of yet another nefarious plot to make sure people can breathe, co-host Sara Haines didn’t hold back her disdain for this new round of “mask hysteria.” As she notes, unlike the pandemic, people not wearing masks are only hurting themselves, so have at it.

Via The Wrap:

“When it was early on in COVID, you not wearing a mask affected me. You don’t want to wear a mask outside, you want to inhale this stuff? Go ahead and do it,” she mocked. “I encourage everyone to embrace their liberty and just do you!”

Haines went even further by mocking conservatives who are convinced the very real and evident wildfire smoke is some sort of liberal conspiracy.

“You don’t believe any of that? You think someone’s on the side, stage left pumping some orange [into the air], like, you think they can do that?” Haines said. “Then you know what, you go and do you. I’m fine with whatever you choose.”

These Photos From Sunset Music Festival Will Leave You Ready For Festival Season

Sunset Music Festival electrified the southern United States over Memorial Day Weekend, setting off the summer festival season. The 2023 edition starred a whole lot of vibrantly colored attendees thanks to a slew of electronic heavyweights AC Slater, Audien, Adventure Club, Bear Grillz, Chris Lake, Hannah Wants, Honeyluv, and more, all the while casting a sensory overload of top-notch visual and audio production. Because what’s a party without some serious sound production to knock ya around on the dancefloor?

While SMF has annually been a staple summer kickoff event in Florida, this year wowed the masses with its new 360-degree stage shade structure, allowing fans to get down to the sweltering beats of house music and not the sun itself. Of course, a nightly firework showcase to round off both nights after days of dancing to all the likes of electronic music was truly the icing on the cake. Sorry if you weren’t there, we understand if you have FOMO.

While this year’s festival circuit has a long list of impressive musical lineups and attendee offerings, we still can’t get SMF out of our heads. It reminds us that festivals truly are one of the building blocks that fosters connection across society (just when everything seems to be crumbling down around us). Don’t mind us if we keep these photos in our heads rent-free for the next couple of months as the beat of summer is only just beginning.

Grimes Finally Released Her Ethereal Song ‘Welcome To The Opera’ A Year After Debuting It Live

Over a year ago, Grimes debuted “Welcome To The Opera” during her spellbinding performance at Electric Daisy Carnival. Today (June 8), the experimental artist is back with an official release of the song, finally. It’s a collaboration with Anyma from Italian duo Tale Of Us.

Clocking in at four minutes, the track is ethereal and enveloping; her vocals are as stunning as ever against buzzing synthesizers. The beat is club-ready and infectious as she repeats over and over: “Welcome to the opera,” an interesting incantation.

Grimes has been busy; the “Oblivion” singer just recently launched a platform where fans can use AI technology to replicate her voice. “I feel strongly that there’s way too much gatekeeping in music,” she said. “Copyright sucks. Art is a conversation with everyone that’s come before us. Intertwining it with the ego is a modern concept. The music industry has been defined by lawyers, and that strangles creativity.”

“If I was dead I’d really like people to do it,” she continued. “But I’m not sure everyone would agree. I feel like maybe Prince would’ve been up for it. If it was one of his friends doing it maybe. It’s a tricky one.”

City Girls Amplify Album Anticipation By Dropping A Summer Anthem Contender, ‘I Need A Thug’

Yung Miami covered a special issue of The Cut in April and was asked for an update on the next City Girls album.

“Girl, I ain’t even gonna tell!” Miami said in the accompanying cover story. “I don’t know, like, it is coming, and it will be sometime this summer — for real, for real, for real. When you doing a project, it takes time. We’re trying to sit through it and make sure that that’s what we want to put out. It’s gonna hit different.”

The timetable was narrowed down with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on Thursday, June 8, when Miami confirmed the album is due in July (as relayed by Billboard). City Girls officially initiated an album rollout by simultaneously dropping “I Need A Thug,” a two-minute single that packs enough punch to contend as a summer anthem. (Their Instagram and Twitter accounts promise “City Girls loading…” and “#CityGirlsAreComing.”)

Billboard additionally noted that Miami and JT drew from LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” for the duo’s first featureless song since 2021. The chorus also pays homage to TLC: “I need a thug / Sex, money, and drugs / Private jet flights while I’m gettin’ my back rubbed / Like TLC said, ‘No scrubs’ / Cut a check before I even give a hug.”

Last month, City Girls hopped on Diddy’s “Act Bad” with Fabolous, and the single’s video is as raunchy as you’d expect. City Girls enlisted Usher for “Good Love” nearly one year ago, which followed in the footsteps of the Fivio Foreign-assisted “Top Notch.”
