Lizzo Is So Irate With The ‘Daily’ Posts About Her Being ‘Fat’ That She’s Thought About ‘Quitting’: ‘Man, F*ck Y’all’

Despite putting out record-breaking singles and selling out arenas on world tours, Lizzo can’t escape negativity — particularly within the dumpster fire that is social media. Today (May 31), she expressed frustration over the fact that while she’s accomplished so much by way of her artistry, some people can only seem to focus on her weight.

One Twitter user shared a picture of Lizzo, saying, “How is Lizzo still THIS fat when she’s constantly moving this much on stage?! I wonder what she must be eating.”

Lizzo caught wind of the tweet and instantly shut the user down.

“I JUST logged on and the app and this is the type of sh*t I see about me on a daily basis,” she said. “It’s really starting to make me hate the world. Then someone in the comments said I eat ‘lots of fast food’ I LITERALLY STOPPED EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO…I’m tired of explaining myself all the time and I just wanna get on this app w/out seeing my name in some bullsh*t. Yall speak on sh*t y’all know NOTHING ABOUT and I’m starting to get heated.”

In follow-up tweets, she expressed that while she does receive much support from fans, the vitriol she gets ruins the social media experience for her.

“The Love definitely do not outweigh the Hate on social media… all because I’m fat???? This is CRAZY,” she said.

Understandably, she expressed the desire to live a more private life, away from the public.

“Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a F*CKING FARM…,” she said.

Fans shared support with Lizzo and encouraged not to search her own name on social media. Lizzo then shared that while she actually does not ever search her name, she simply cannot get past the algorithm.

“I literally NEVER search my name this stuff just comes up on my TL & my FYP it’s wild. I swear I just wanna look at dance videos and science news and this sh*t comes in every day…,” she said.

Over the years, Lizzo had maintained a message of body-positivity and self-love in her music. She reiterated this in follow-up tweets, one of which read, “BEING FAT ISNT MY ‘BRAND’ BEING FAT IS WHAT MY BODY LOOKS THAT. THATS IT. THATS ALL. My ‘brand’ is FEEL GOOD MUSIC. My ‘brand’ is CHAMPIONING ALL PEOPLE. My ‘brand’ is BLACK GIRL LIBERATION.”

This comes shortly after Lizzo set her Twitter account to private recently. She also noted that the current landscape of pop music seems to be emulating sounds she created years before they became mainstream.

“I’ve always led w my TALENT…,” she said. “But when I dropped Good As Hell feel good music was ‘corny.’ When I dropped Juice disco pop wasn’t ‘for them.’ When I was body positive in 2016 being body positive was ‘pandering’ Now everybody on that wave and I’m still sh*t on?! man f*ck y’all.”

Lizzo is currently on the final week of her Special 2our, which she will conclude on Friday (June 2) at Acrisure Arena in Palm Dessert, California.

Mom goes on strike after teenage son said he’d be better off without her. Did she go too far?

Every parent knows that sometimes their kids, especially teenagers, can say things in the heat of the moment they don’t really mean. But the mother at the center of this story took her teenage son’s outburst seriously and turned it into an opportunity to teach him a lesson. The question is, did she go too far to make a point?

A 35-year-old mom wanted to learn if she had been too hard on her 14-year-old son, so she shared her story on Reddit’s AITA subforum (we’ve abbreviated the forum’s name to avoid printing foul language). AITA is where people vote on whether the poster was right or wrong in how they handled a situation.

“Lately, he has been acting out a little at home and school, so I decided to sit him down to try and figure out what was happening,” the mother wrote in a post that received over 800 comments. She said that the boy had been cursing out his parents as well as his teacher.

“He is my only child, and his dad and I are still together. I tried to sit him down and ask why he was acting out…but he wouldn’t budge,” the mother wrote. “I asked him whether there were any issues going on at school because if there was, I would be more than happy to help him.”

But all the boy could muster was that “all 14-year-olds should act out a little.”

When the mother pressed her child for an answer, he blurted, “My life would be better if I didn’t have a mother.”

The mother was immensely hurt by her son’s words, so she decided to show him whether his life was, in fact, better without her around and she went on strike.

Spoiler alert: His life wasn’t better.

That night, the mom made dinner for herself and her husband. “When my son smelt food, he came downstairs and asked where his was,” the mom wrote. “I responded, ‘I made dinner for myself and your dad. Since life is easier without a mom, there’s some heatable food in the freezer.’”

The next day when he got up for breakfast, there was none to be found. “Where’s my breakfast?” the son asked. “Your mother would normally do that for you,” the mom responded. “But if life is easier without one, you’ll need to prepare your own breakfast. Also, take the bus to and from school.”

After “a few swears,” the teen made cereal and hopped on the school bus. The mother believes the teen may have complained about his mother’s strike to her mother-in-law, who called her, saying that she was “a horrible mother” who was “starving my child” and “being petty.”

To see if she did the right thing by going on strike, the mom posted her story to AITA, and the commenters overwhelmingly said that she was right in the situation.

“It’s not like you actually deprived him of anything,” Shrimp-34 wrote in the most popular post on the thread. “He still had access to food and a way to get to school. It was definitely petty, but he wasn’t harmed in any way, and maybe sometimes you have to fight fire with fire?”

“He isn’t being starved, he’s 14, he can feed himself,” bahahahahahhhaha wrote in a post that received over 2,300 upvotes. “He isn’t being kept home from school, he’s 14, he can take the bus. [You would be wrong] if you kept this going for weeks, but doing it for a couple of days to help him realize all the things you do for him and appreciate them better is actually a really good life lesson—and its natural consequences. He doesn’t want a mom? You are letting him have his wish.”

A few commenters thought the mother should have taken the high road.

“I know it’s hard, but you can’t take that stuff personally and then retaliate like a teenager,” Turbulent_Cow2355 wrote. “You have to model the behavior that you want to see in your kids, and that means taking the higher road, even when don’t want to. You are being petty. Don’t teach your child that pettiness is a good idea for conflict resolution.”

The good news is that the mother and son were able to patch things up, and the teen’s realization helped him avoid further trouble.

“My son had a half day, so I texted him asking if he would like me to pick him up or the bus,” the mom wrote in a story update. “He texted back, saying he wanted me to get him. So I did. In the car, he immediately apologized for what he said, and he said that his friends were acting out, so he wanted to fit in. His friends got suspended today for something they did, and they wanted my son to join. My son did not, and he said he was sorry for how he was acting. I also apologized for my actions.”

Dad ‘gentle parenting with malicious intent’ is making people laugh and sparking a new parenting technique

By now, everyone has heard of gentle parenting. Even if you’re not quite sure what it is, you’ve heard the phrase. Parents that use this style of parenting set boundaries with their children but with thorough explanations and a focus on healthy emotional development. One dad decided to spin the gentle parenting trend by implementing “gentle parenting with malicious intent” for his older children.

You may be wondering how one gentle parents with malicious intent. No worries, the dad uploaded a now-viral clip to TikTok, where it has over 4 million views, to explain. In the clip, “Ginger Jack” has the camera on himself as he talks to his kids about completing their chores without attitudes…and that’s where the twist comes in.

“New rule. Whenever one of you starts giving me attitude, I’m going to start hitting on mom,” the dad says before speaking to his partner. “Hey there. sugar. How you doing, baby girl? How do you feel about another child? I could rub your ankles real good.” He then makes what can only be described as an attempt at a sexy cat noise.

Ginger Jack’s children were having none of it. You could hear them in the background groaning in disgust over their dad’s exaggerated advances toward their mom. His wife also sounded a bit embarrassed by his antics, but that didn’t stop him from adding new rules to avoid the sight of two parents loving each other.

Eww. Gross. At least that’s what most kids think once they reach a certain age. Parents are only supposed to be two adults that live in your house, whose babies were dropped off by a stork with a really strong neck.

This method of gentle parenting with malicious intent was a hit for everyone but his children, who could be heard protesting off-screen with every kissing noise they heard. He wasn’t actually kissing their mom, just kissing the air, but the idea of parents kissing was enough to set off their gross-o-meter. People in the comments thoroughly enjoyed his shenanigans and some confessed they would also listen if the consequences were parental affection.

“At that point, I’d deep clean the house, my soul and this Godforsaken world,” one person wrote, complete with three crying emojis.

“As a 34-year-old, this would absolutely still work on me,” another wrote, ending it with a sweating emoji.

“Since I’m single can you call and flirt with me to get mine to clean,” one woman asked.

“Now we see why the Addams family is so well-behaved,” someone commented.

Maybe Gomez was onto something with all of his excessive hand kissing. The secret to parenting has been right in front of our eyes this entire time, and we just didn’t know it. Watch his brilliant execution of gentle parenting with malicious intent below.

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Is Still Breaking Box Office Records, Over A Year After It Came Out

Top Gun: Maverick came out one year ago last week. If it seems like longer, well, it shouldn’t. It took 36 years to get a sequel to Top Gun. Less than 400 days is nothing by comparison. Or maybe the reason it seems like it was just yesterday that we were enjoying the beach football scene is because Top Gun: Maverick is still in theaters — and still breaking box office records.

Top Gun: Maverick is now Tom Cruise‘s biggest film ever in Japan, where it continues to play. “The sequel, on its 365th day of release, became Tom Cruise’s biggest film ever in the market,” according to Deadline. “In doing so, it overtook 2003’s The Last Samurai with JPY 13.71B ($101.5 million).”

Japan originally opened the Joseph Kosinski-directed actioner on May 27, 2022, and then it had legs for miles with unheard-of holds. This is the second-biggest international box office market for the movie, just a hair below the UK. During the Reiwa-era (the current era of Japan’s official calendar which began on May 1, 2019), the sequel is the biggest live-action movie for the period. It is also in the all-time Top 10 for Hollywood releases.

Maverick is in the top 20 overall, just behind animes Weathering with You and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The highest-grossing Hollywood film ever in Japan: Titanic. Even Tom Cruise has to give it up for fellow Oscar absentee James Cameron.

Gay Floridians Are Reportedly Fleeing The Sunshine State ‘In Droves’ Thanks To Trump Punching Bag Ron DeSantis

This should be a time of celebration for the LGBTQ+ community. Pride is just around the corner. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie featuring Ryan Gosling in his Himbo era as “And Ken” is about to dominate the box office. Janelle Monae is topless and making new music. Summer is officially here and we should be hoisting those rainbow-colored flags high while parading down streets in short shorts and bucket hats.

Instead, thanks to a red-faced, middle-aged man (Florida Governor “Meatball” Ron DeSantis) who has a weird obsession with a cartoon mouse, Gay Floridians are reportedly leaving the Sunshine State “in droves” because they just don’t feel safe there anymore. Thanks to the many anti-LGBTQ+ laws being ushered in by Governor Ron DeSantis, organizers in the state are being forced to shut down planned Pride events as some within the Queer community flee in fear of persecution. Just last week, The Human Rights Campaign joined the NAACP, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the Florida Immigrant Coalition, and Equality Florida in issuing a travel advisory for minorities, immigrants, and gay travelers in the state.

Fortunately, there are a few organizations, like Lake County Pride, that are taking a stand against DeSantis’ brazen bigotry. The group’s President and CEO Danielle Olivani told The Daily Beast that their Pride celebration was still scheduled to take place, despite threats from right-wing agitators.

“It’s not exactly being welcomed by the community where we’re having it. In fact, yesterday I just got a cease-and-desist from them, telling me not to mention them at all. They don’t want this to take place, but we’re gonna persevere,” Olivani said. “We’re gonna have this Pride because we’re fully within our rights to do so. And you know, we’re just gonna deal with things as they go. But right now, it’s a mixture of apprehension, fear. Yet, I’m hopeful at the same time.”

Ed Sheeran Wrote An Ode To ‘A Beautiful Game’ For What Seems To Be The Final ‘Ted Lasso’ Episode Ever

Ed Sheeran‘s new song, “A Beautiful Game,” is out now. If the title sounds slightly familiar, it was because it was written and played during the season finale episode of Ted Lasso that debuted on Apple TV+ last night.

Keeping with the vibes of the show, Sheeran delivers an ode to teamwork and positivity — two things the series built upon.

Fans had been speculating that the show was coming to a close after some goodbye posts from the cast on social media. While it had been on for three seasons, many viewers also felt that the latest one took a dip in quality. There had also been an alleged possibility of Jason Sudeikis leaving the title role — and his fictional soccer team and coworkers without a silly coach.

On the latest episode of the Fly On The Wall podcast (as EW notes), Sudeikis said, “This story is done. It sounds like such a political answer, but it’s the truth. We only conceived these three [seasons], then this thing became this big old thing.” However, there has been no firm confirmation that the show is over.

Still, Sheeran was excited for to close out the show.

“About a year and a bit ago, I was asked to do a song for the final episode of Ted Lasso,” Sheeran shared in a video. “I recorded bits of it while on tour, using crowds from the stadiums that I was playing. I’m super proud of it.”

Fans were seemingly moved by the song’s inclusion in the episode. “No lie I cried a little watching the last episode. Hands down 10 out of 10,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Gunna Is Seemingly Trying To Beat The Snitch Allegations In A Snippet Of New Music

It looks like Gunna is gearing up to drop new music. However, not everyone is excited about his impending comeback. Since he took a plea deal in the ongoing YSL racketeering case, which resulted in his release from Fulton County Jai last December, Gunna has been labeled a “snitch” amid rumors that he ratted out Young Thug.

In a snippet Gunna shared to Instagram, he seems to allude to these rumors.

“He forgave me for my sins, now they mad I got out,” he raps in the snippet.

Part of Gunna’s plea deal included that he plead guilty to racketeering. Since his release, he has maintained that he has not sold out Thug or any of his YSL labelmates.

He issued a statement which read, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Let ‘The Righteous Gemstones’ Season 3 Trailer Fill The ‘Succession’-Sized Hole In Your Heart

Are you already missing Succession? Don’t worry, there’s another HBO series about a family of rich dipsh*ts coming soon.

HBO has released the full-length trailer for season three of The Righteous Gemstones, Danny McBride’s faith-based comedy (but, like, in a good way, not a Kirk Cameron way) that’s one of the best shows on TV. If it’s possible, the show might be even better in season three. All your favorites are back, including McBride, John Goodman, Walton Goggins, Tim Baltz, Adam Devine, Cassidy Freeman, and MVP Edi Patterson, but now they’re joined by Steve Zahn, Stephen Dorff, and Shea Whigham. It’s honestly shocking that it’s taken this long for Shea Whigham to be on The Righteous Gemstones.

In season three, The Righteous Gemstones tells the story of a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work. When the spoiled Gemstone children finally get their wish to take control of the Church, they discover leadership is harder than they imagined and that their extravagant lifestyle comes with a heavy price.

The first two episodes of The Righteous Gemstones season three premiere on HBO and Max (only 2020s kids will remember HBO Max) on Sunday, June 18th, followed by new episodes every following Sunday. Hallelujah.

Who Are The Openers For Paramore’s 2023 North American Tour?

Just a few days ago in Alabama, Paramore kicked off their North American tour — which will continue through August at various massive venues, arenas, and music festivals like Bonnaroo. For those who are attending one of Paramore’s summer shows and are hoping to prepare, here’s what to know about their opening acts.

Paramore is bringing four different acts on the road with them for select dates. The first, Bloc Party, will join the band in cities like Toronto and DC. This is also special because their last album was inspired by the opening act.

Foals, another indie rock group, will open for the two Los Angeles dates, along with additional stops in the Midwest.

Genesis Owusu served as the opening act for Paramore’s two sold-out Madison Square Garden dates, among others, and was praised by BrooklynVegan for welcoming the crowd in a “grand fashion.”

Finally, The Linda Lindas — the viral band that gained traction after a library video — will be continuing the rock energy as another opener on Paramore’s tour.

In a recent interview with The Cut, Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams talked about her tour views and what it’s like being on stage.

“There’s absolutely no reason to have any sort of manners onstage other than…” she said. “I will say, if I ever spot people fighting at a Paramore show in the crowd, I become like the worst teacher that you’ve ever had, because I will embarrass you and make you feel like what the f*ck are you doing here?”

Taika Waititi Is Fine With Being ‘Obsolete And Irrelevant’ One Day: These Days, ‘No One Knows’ Who Directed ‘Casablanca’

Taika Waititi has been at the forefront of many successful franchises over the last decade, but he doesn’t seem to care if you know of him or not. The man wears many hats: writer, actor, and director, and even created Air New Zealand’s successful safety instruction videos. He quite literally does it all, while also voicing a Star Wars character.

Even though he has had his name attached to various Marvel films, he doesn’t seem to think that his name has any staying power. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Waititi claims he doesn’t really “expect” to be remembered down the line, or go down in history as the guy who directed a Sour Patch Kid ad campaign.

“Here’s the thing: No one’s going to remember us,” Waititi told the publication, referring to directors. “What’s the name of the director of Casablanca? Arguably one of the greatest films of all time. No one knows his name. How the f*ck do I expect to be remembered? So who cares?” The director concluded. In case you ever feel the need to join a trivia night at your local bar, the director of Casablanca is Michael Curtiz.

Instead of turning his job into a popularity contest, Waititi says that the films should speak for themselves. He continued, “Let’s just live, make some movies. They’ll be obsolete and irrelevant in 15 or 20 years. And so will I, and then I’ll die and someone else can do it. This whole idea of chasing, chasing, chasing this life. It’s like, do we have to actually work this hard? Maybe not.” Though it sounds a bit pessimistic, he has a pretty good point. Will anyone remember James Cameron in 20 years? Avatar 3 probably won’t even be out by then, though.

On the other hand, the internet is forever, so we will always be able to trace Thor: Love and Thunder back to Waititi. For better or worse. Just because he didn’t remember that Natalie Portman was in Star Wars doesn’t mean that everyone else forgot too!
