Rightwingers Are Hopping Mad That Fox News Aired A Segment That Was Empathetic Towards A Trans Teen And His Supportive Family

Fox News is very busy right now trying their best to ignore the Jan. 6 hearings, despite them being a ratings boon. (Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s Truth Social is going so far as to boot anyone who mentions them.) They desperately need counterprogramming. Perhaps that’s why they wound up airing a segment on a subject that many of their viewers do not like: an empathetic portrayal of a trans teen.

The right-leaning segment highlighted a 14-year-old, described by correspondent Bryan Llenas as a “typical California teenager.” It goes on to portray how his family came to accept him after he came out as transgender at five years old. They were “confused” at first, confessing that they thought “gender and sexuality were the same thing.” But they eventually realized “those two things are different” and supported his transition.

It’s a heartwarming segment, and it will help lots of other families. But it naturally enraged prominent conservatives. Among them were Matt Walsh, who recently released an anti-trans documentary. “I have appeared on Fox News many times. I appreciate the platform they’ve given me. If what I’m about to say ruins that relationship, so be it,” he wrote. “Everyone involved should be fired immediately.”

Ben Shapiro, head of the rightwing The Daily Wire and noted “WAP” critic, was also incensed. “This would be absolute despicable insane lunacy if I saw it on CNN or MSNBC,” he wrote. “To see it on Fox News is a complete betrayal of anything remotely resembling conservatism or decency.”

There was more raging on Truth Social, not that you need to see any of that. Congrats to the family and may their story inspire others.

Kellyanne Conway Still Won’t Condemn Trump, Even After Being Asked About His Mike Pence Comments

The Jan. 6 hearings began on Thursday night, and they were a big Nielsens hit. Almost 20 million people tuned in to watch the House select committee make public their findings into the Capitol riot, which ended Donald Trump’s presidency in disgrace. Fox News, meanwhile, tried, badly, to ignore it, while Trump’s social media service is infringing on its users’ free speech. Among the revelations was that the former president seemed perfectly fine with his supporters wanting to hang his vice president, Mike Pence.

As it happens, Trump’s longtime counselor, Kellyanne Conway, was booked on Real Time with Bill Maher, there to promote her low-selling memoir. Maher repeatedly offered her a chance to redeem herself, namely by condemning her old boss. And, as always, she refused.

Conway began by brushing off the hearings, pointing out, however rightly, that it’s not a “courtroom,” i.e., that the committee can’t actually prosecute anyone. (Though they can offer plenty of evidence for others to do that.) Maher pushed back, saying that “doesn’t mean it wasn’t valid” and that “the footage is the footage.”

Conway agreed that the “footage is appalling,” but tried to steer the conversation to other issues: inflation, high gas prices, etc. Maher called her a “spin doctor,” which she denied.

At one point Maher brought up claims that Trump okayed the idea of Pence being murdered. He asked Conway, “How do you spin that?” Then she gave it a try.

“That’s, those are reports I’ve seen that people are saying that,” she said. “And if people were threatening the life of the Vice President, I’m sure there are great federal laws against that. Let’s use them.”

Conway also brushed off the idea that Trump actively encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol. When asked about telling them to “fight like hell,” she claimed that’s ‘What every college football coach says to the guys that are taking the field.”

Eventually Conway wondered aloud why people persist in talking about her old boss, who’s been accused of attempting a coup. “You’re always talking about Donald Trump,” she said. “He hasn’t been president in a year and a half.”

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Is Coming Back To Theaters In A ‘More Fun Stuff’ Version

When it came out late last year, Spider-Man: No Way Home lifted the box office curse that afflicted so many before it. Audiences weren’t returning to theaters in droves, not like they had before a certain public health crisis. Now they were. And now they are again. But it looks like the web-slinger is coming back to theaters for another hurrah.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, No Way Home is returning to the big screen in early September in what’s called the “The More Fun Version.” What does that mean? It’s not entirely clear, but what’s known is the new cut will feature deleted and extended scenes for a movie that already runs two minutes longer than Goodfellas. The three filmic Spider-Men all appeared in a video for the re-release, each trying to claim the title of the real Spider-Man.

No Way Home reignited interest in Andrew Garfield’s take on Queens’ favorite fictitious son. The actor, who scored an Oscar nomination around the time the film was raking in millions, managed to keep his appearance a secret from most, including his former co-star Emma Stone. Meanwhile, the movie is still being debated. Benedict Cumberbatch recently argued that it’s not Doctor Strange who’s to blame for opening the multitude of madness but Peter Parker himself.

The “More Fun Version” of Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on Sept. 2.

Kate Bush Thinks It’s ‘Utterly Brilliant’ That ‘Running Up That Hill’ Earned A New Peak On The UK Charts

Kate Bush’s career received a new jolt of life in the past couple of weeks and it’s all in thanks to Stranger Things. The recently released fourth season of the show used her 1985 single “Running Up That Hill” during a critical scene in the show, and as a result, it’s helped to place the record back on various charts around the world. The song checked in at No. 1 on both the Spotify global daily chart and the iTunes singles chart. It also gave Bush her first top-10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 as the song appeared at No. 8 on the chart. However, that’s not the only chart peak that “Running Up That Hill” delivered.

The song also reached No. 2 on the Official UK Singles Chart, the highest position that the song has ever secured on that chart. For a while, the record held off from a top-two position on the chart thanks to Harry Styles’ “As It Was.” After “Running Up That Hill” checked at No. 2, Bush shared a message in celebration of the feat. “Running Up That Hill has just gone to No 2 in the UK charts and No. 1 in Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Sweden….,” Bush wrote in a post on her website. “How utterly brilliant!”

She continued, “It’s hard to take in the speed at which this has all been happening since the release of the first part of the Stranger Things new series. So many young people who love the show, discovering the song for the first time.”

Bush noted that the response to the song was “something that has had its own energy and volition” and that it was a “direct relationship between the shows and their audience.” She concluded, “We’ve all been astounded to watch the track explode! Thanks so much to everyone who has supported the song and a really special thank you to the Duffer Brothers for creating something with such heart.”

Britney Spears Got An Emergency Restraining Order Against Her Ex-Husband Jason Alexander

On Thursday, Britney Spears married Sam Asghari, her partner of nearly five years, after he proposed to her last fall. The ceremony was a celebrity-filled event that included appearances from Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace, and more. Unfortunately, the event also featured an unwanted guest in Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander. In initial reports from Billboard and TMZ, Alexander trespassed onto the wedding site in a frantic search for Spears. “I’m here to crash the wedding but nobody’s here but Sam,” Alexander said as he broadcasted the event on Instagram Live. “So where the f*ck’s the family?”

Alexander was eventually arrested by Ventura County police and charged with trespassing, vandalism, and two counts of battery connected to his interactions with Spears’ security team. Now, Spears has received an emergency restraining order against Alexander after his arrest. Her attorney Matthew Rosengart confirmed the news to Billboard noting that there is an “Emergency Protective Order” in place. The EPO expires after five-seven calendar days.

“I thank the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for their good work,” Rosengart shared in a press release according to Billboard. “This was an outrageous and disgraceful security breach and I hope law enforcement does everything possible to ensure Mr. Alexander is fully and vigorously prosecuted and convicted for his criminal actions.”

Spears and Alexander got married back in 2004, but it was a rather short one as she got the marriage annulled just 55 hours later.

‘P-Valley’: Here’s All The Music You Heard In Season 2, Episode 2

(SPOILERS for this week’s P-Valley episode will be found below.)

Last week, during the season two premiere of P-Valley, we returned to the lives of Uncle Clifford, Mercedes, and Hailey (fka Autumn Night) to see that The Pynk is struggling a bit due to the coronavirus pandemic. Chucalissa, the city in Mississippi where the strip club is located, eventually lifts COVID restrictions, allowing The Pynk to work its way to a “grand re-re-re-opening.” Things are also different now as Clifford and Hailey are now co-owners of The Pynk.

Furthermore, The Pynk is welcoming a new cast of strippers to P-Valley ahead of The Pynk’s “grand re-re-re-opening.” In episode two, we see which strippers are selected while we also get a look into Mercedes’ struggles, Hailey’s complicated relationship with Andre, Uncle Murda’s career and relationship with Clifford, and Keyshawn’s own aspirations.

The aforementioned events in this week’s episode are soundtracked by songs that help to accentuate the emotions behind each scene. They include Jucee Froot’s thumping “Down In The Valley” which serves as the theme song for the series.

What Songs Were In ‘P-Valley’ S2E2?

The songs that soundtracked the standout moments on this week’s episode of P-Valley are DJ Chose’s “Thick” with Beatking and Bubba Sparxxx’s “Ms. New Booty” with Ying Yang Twins and Mr. Collipark as well as Beyonce’s “7/11.” DJ Chose and Bubba Sparxxx’s records appear in the first few moments of the show as Uncle Clifford, Hailey, and Mercedes hold auditions for new strippers at The Pynk. The ladies wait in line – as one even flirts with Big L – and later show off their skills on the pole.

Beyonce’s “7/11” plays during the “grand re-re-re-opening” of The Pynk. It’s here that Mercedes takes the stage with two of the new strippers. Unfortunately, Mercedes takes a big fall as a result of her shoulder giving out due to an injury she let linger for too long. The fall reunites Clifford, Hailey, Dante, and Mercedes for the first time since the chaos that went down during Murda Night.

The soundtrack for this week’s episode also includes the following songs:
Rick Ross – “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” Feat. Styles P

Draymond Green’s Mom Jokingly Wonders If He’s Been Replaced By A ‘Clone’ During The Finals

Draymond Green has not been playing his best during the 2022 NBA Finals. It hasn’t been a critical blow for the Golden State Warriors up to this point — they won in Boston on Friday behind a monster game from Steph Curry night to even up the series at two games each — but it’s safe to say that Green is struggling against the Celtics through four games.

Green’s performance on Friday was not up to his standards, as he had two points on 1-for-7 shooting and had lengthy stretches where he did not look comfortable on either end of the floor. The good news for him was he found other ways to impact the game, as evidenced by his nine rebounds, eight assists, and four steals.

The bad news? Well, Green’s mom, Mary Babers-Green, is known for being active on social media during Warriors games, and at one point in the fourth quarter, she tweeted that she both has no idea what’s going on with her son and that Steve Kerr might be playing a clone in his place.

All of us at Dime are extremely excited to see how Green responds to these allegations that were lovingly made by his mom on the latest episode of his pod.

Paris Hilton Skipped DJing For The President To Go To Britney Spears’ Wedding: ‘This Was More Important’

Britney Spears’ wedding this past Thursday had an impressive guest list. In attendance to celebrate her nuptials with Sam Asghari were Drew Barrymore, Madonna, Selena Gomez, and Paris Hilton.

Shortly after the wedding, Hilton took to her This Is Paris podcast to talk about the ceremony. In this particular episode, she revealed she was invited to DJ at President Joe Biden’s Summit Of Americas at the Getty Villa in Los Angeles, but skipped the event to attend her longtime friend’s wedding.

“I was asked to DJ for the president and all of the other presidents from around the world for the dinner,” Hilton said, “but this was more important to me.”

Also in this episode, she revealed that she remained mum to everyone in her life about attending Spears’ wedding.

“[I] was keeping it top secret all week,” she said. “Literally, I did not tell anyone, not even the people I asked [for] dresses that were sent, my whole team, my glam, my driver, everyone. I’m not gonna go into any details because it was the princess bride’s night and that’s her story to tell, but all I can say is that I am just so incredibly happy for her.”

Steph Curry Carried The Warriors To A Game 4 Win In Boston

A best-of-3 series will determine the 2022 NBA champion. Thanks to one of the best postseason performances in Steph Curry’s career, the Golden State Warriors walked into Boston for Game 4 of the NBA Final on Friday night and picked up a 107-97 win over the Celtics to tie the series up at two games each.

Steve Kerr rolled the dice to start the game by inserting Otto Porter into the starting lineup for Kevon Looney. It didn’t work out like he hoped, as Looney came in for Porter less than five minutes into the first with the Warriors trailing by six. Things did, however, start looking easier for Golden State once they went with a more natural lineup.

This included an 11-2 run when Porter returned to the game in place of Draymond Green, which helped the Warriors take their first three of the night on a triple by Curry.

Despite that, Boston was able to compose itself in the face of Golden State getting hot, and after Grant Williams hit a triple right before the buzzer sounded, the team found itself up, 28-27, after one.

The two teams threw haymaker after haymaker at one another in the second quarter. Every mini-run had a response, while Curry and Jayson Tatum both rose to the occasion — the former had a game-high 19 points at the break, while the latter had 16 with seven rebounds.

The Celtics were ultimately able to give themselves a bit of a cushion heading into the locker room, as the team took a 54-49 lead into the break. Jaylen Brown had 12 points while Derrick White scored 10 off the bench, and Robert Williams in particular seemed to give Golden State major problems, as he had five points with 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks.

For the Warriors, Andrew Wiggins had 11 with five rebounds and Jordan Poole scored nine off the bench, but save for one spell in the first, shots from deep just did not fall. The team went 7-for-24 from downtown in the first half, and even Curry struggled to hit threes, as he went 2-for-8.

While Golden State won the third quarter, it was not nearly as emphatic as we’ve seen earlier in the series. Outside of Curry, the team did not have too many consistent ways to attack the Celtic defense.

Having said that: Holy sh*t Curry was good in the third. The Warriors star scored 14 points in the quarter and hit four of his five tries from behind the three-point line, and the way he relentlessly attacked helped his team take a 79-78 lead into the fourth.

Boston was able to wrest the lead back early on in the fourth, thanks in large part to Brown attacking the Warriors over and over.

That last bucket led to Kerr making a major decision, as he opted to sit Green and inserted Looney for Nemanja Bjelica. The response was an 11-4 run for Golden State that led to them retaking the lead.

Green returned as part of what was essentially an offense/defense substitution pattern with Poole down the stretch whenever one could come into the game for the other. The plan worked out beautifully — Boston’s offense just could not get anything going down the stretch, and with just over 100 seconds left in the game, Curry pulled up from deep to make the outcome feel inevitable.

Curry’s 43 points on 14-for-26 shooting and 7-for-14 shooting from deep with 10 rebounds and four assists got Golden State across the finish line. Wiggins deputized admirably with 17 points and 16 rebounds, Klay Thompson went for 18 points, and Poole provided 14 off the bench. For Boston, Tatum’s 23 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three blocks, and one steal stuffed the stat sheet, although he struggled down the stretch, with his final made shot coming with 10:46 remaining in the fourth quarter. Brown scored 21; Marcus Smart had 18 points with five assists, four steals, and four rebounds; and White scored 16.

Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals will take place in San Francisco on Monday night. It is scheduled to tip off at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
