Chief Keef has had a massive impact on music over the past few years, despite not being a mainstream figure in the way that some of his contemporaries are — or even his successors. So even though it might seem odd to those of us in the know about Keef’s influence that he would be shocked to learn that stars like Solange Knowles are fans, it makes sense from a certain point of view.
A video of Solange and Keef conversing outside one of his recent shows is currently going viral on Twitter, capturing Keef’s bewilderment that Solange apparently knows his stuff. As she asks him about a certain production (“that’s you on the keys?”), he gives a flabbergasted, “Yo, what the f*ck is goin’ on?”
It makes sense that Solange — someone who has always had a finger on the pulse via her Saint Heron imprint — knows Keef’s production. After all, so many of today’s rap stars count him among their biggest influences. However, given that his discography doesn’t include too many widely recognized hits aside from “Don’t Like” (which surprisingly only peaked at No. 73 on the Hot 100), it’s understandable that he’d be caught off-guard by Solange being tapped in like this. After all, her sister Beyoncé is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet and doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who moves in the same circles as Keef’s most ardent followers. But hey, if this means Sexyy Red has a chance to show up on Act III, I hope we can all point to this as the moment that kicked it all off.
Apple TV+ recently passed reached its fifth anniversary mark after initially launching with a handful of shows including For All Mankind. Since that time, the streaming service has rolled out several successful sci-fi favorites including Silo, Severance, and Sunny. Sure, they have also been beefing up comedy, spy fare, and legal thriller options, too, but definitely expect more sci-fi, including Murderbot, Neuromancer, and The Gorge.
Those fans of alternate space history, however, should not worry because there are plans for more of that, too, in a few regards.
Will There Be A For All Mankind Season 5?
For sure. Back in April, Apple TV+ not only announced that a fifth season of the Joel Kinnaman-starring series is in the works, but a spin off (called Star City) is coming from two of the For All Mankind creators, Matt Wolpert and Ben Nevidi:
“Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of ‘For All Mankind,’” said executive producers Wolpert and Nedivi. “The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race. We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of ‘For All Mankind’ with our partners at Apple and Sony.”
As of now, no official release date exists for Star City or for the next For All Mankind season. As previously noted, though, there’s plenty of other sci-fi available on the tech giant’s streaming service with more options on the way.
Selena Gomez has long been open about the fact that some of her health challenges have an impact on the size and shape of her body. The billionaire tends to bring this up in response to comments about her weight, and unfortunately, it has happened yet again.
As TMZ notes, in a now-deleted TikTok post, some commenters claimed that during an appearance at the American French Film Festival, Gomez was hiding her body by posing with her hands positioned in front of her stomach.
In the comments, Gomez responded, “This makes me sick.. I have SIBO in my small intestine. It flares up. I don’t care that I don’t look like a sick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story. No I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.”
“SIBO” refers to “small intestinal bacterial overgrowth,” which Mayo Clinic notes “occurs when there is an abnormal increase in the overall bacterial population in the small intestine — particularly types of bacteria not commonly found in that part of the digestive tract.” They also note that signs and symptoms of SIBO often include abdominal pain, bloating, and more.
In a video from 2023, Gomez explained, “I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of [a medication], I tend to kind of lose weight. […] I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through, but nobody knows the real story. So I just want people to know that you’re beautiful and you’re wonderful and… yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like sh*t, but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself, and my medications are important and I believe they are what helps me.”

Olivia Rodrigo and Grimes both want to put some space between themselves and dudes who are obsessed with going to space.
Over the weekend, Netflix shared a clip of the “Get Him Back!” singer — who released her Guts World Tour concert film on the streaming service — sharing her biggest red flag when it comes to dating. “This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates,” Rodrigo said. “I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space. And if they say yes, I don’t date them.” She added, “I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. I think it’s just weird.”
Is that a not-so-veiled shot at Elon Musk? Grimes, who dated the SpaceX founder on and off for four years, appears to think so — and she agrees. “It’s true,” she wrote on X. “Only women should be going to space.” (Now we know her favorite Janelle Monáe song.)
Grimes recently spoke out against people assuming he got her into AI. “Just saying my ex made me obsessed with tech and ai,” she wrote. “My arts always been full of refs – and I’ve always tried to stay on the cutting edge of tech for art. I did Astro bio and stuff in college. I was also constantly in trouble for being controversial long before e. Everyone’s lens just shifted to suddenly see all the same things but decide to attribute them to a man.”
Kevin Durant and Stephen A. Smith aren’t exactly on the best term, as the Suns star has taken exception to some of Smith’s reporting and pontificating for years. Most recently, Durant expressed his frustration with Smith claiming he isn’t a good leader.
Smith reported this summer that the Suns wanted out of Durant amid rumors the Rockets were pursuing the star in a trade. The Sun’s then denied that publicly and as the 2024-25 season began, Durant was in a Phoenix uniform. Still, Smith continued to prod at the star, calling him out for a lack of vocal leadership and being an aloof star in the locker room. Durant responded on Twitter (as he often does) and then again this weekend when asked about the leadership talk by The Athletic’s Doug Haller.
Durant questioned why anyone listens to Stephen A., calling him “a clown” and calling into question his sources, noting he’s never in practices or the locker room. Unsurprisingly, Smith responded on Monday morning on ‘First Take’ with a lengthy diatribe where he said he wouldn’t respond with the same “kind of pettiness and childishness” and questioned who is allowed to talk about Durant, listing off all the people KD has taken issue with (watch here).
“I got bad news for Kevin Durant, if you’re expecting me to reciprocate with that kind of pettiness and childishness, it’s not gonna happen,” Smith said. “Kevin Durant is one of the greatest players to ever play this game. He’s a future Hall of Famer, he’s a two-time champion, two-time Finals MVP, and I’ve been on the record saying he’s also a good dude. So if he wants to resort to that level, even though we’re both grown men and if he had something to say he knows my number and he refrains from doing so, that’s something he has to live with.
“Having said all of that, respectfully, Kevin Durant can you stop lying, please? I’ve been an NBA reporter and I was a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer as well. Kevin Durant has seen me in the locker room when he was at Oklahoma City. He has seen me in the locker room when he was at Golden State. He has certainly seen me at games throughout his career. But, unfortunately for him, I don’t have to be at shootaround and I don’t have to be in the postgame locker room. I happen to have a hit show that’s been No. 1 for 12 years, I have other things to do with my time. I go to games all the time. I’m not a beat writer anymore.
“The other thing I would say is this, Kevin Durant is going to have to answer this question: Who is allowed to talk about him? Charles Barkley played this game as a Hall of Famer. He got at Charles Barkley. Shannon Sharpe is a Super Bowl champion and a Hall of Famer. He got at Shannon. He got at players, the CJ McCollums of the world, the Dennis Schroders of the world, and others. He’s gotten at fans, and did it discreetly because he had accounts that didn’t reveal who he was. It’s contemporaries and colleagues, it’s former players, it’s present players, it’s the media, it’s fans, it’s whoever. Is anyone allowed to talk about Kevin Durant? Because I don’t understand it. I don’t get it.”
The “he can call me” thing from Stephen A. is always funny to me, because it implies that only he is allowed to talk about people in front of a microphone and if they want to discuss him and his commentary they should do it privately. His final point is probably his strongest, as he notes that Durant has bristled at comments from fellow players, former greats, and all manner of media members and fans. It’s a fair point, and his use of burner accounts in the past has, in particular, left a reputation of Durant having thin skin. That said, at this point, KD happily replies to folks from main, and I think his directness in responding to people — whether it’s Barkley, Smith, or some random Twitter account — breaks down the wall that typically exists in the athlete-critic relationship.
Most athletes either ignore it or internalize it for motivation, but rarely do they so regularly respond and push back on it directly. Athletes love to prove doubters or haters wrong, but they typically throw everyone into one bucket and respond generally. Durant, meanwhile, takes a very different approach by responding directly and asking for critics to elaborate or explain their reasoning further. That tends to throw folks off, including Smith. There is certainly fair criticism to be made about Durant, but I also don’t think it’s unreasonable for him to push back if he doesn’t believe it.
This morning, the entertainment world learned that music icon Quincy Jones is dead at 91 years old. Given his tenure and influence in the industry, tributes have started to pour in from peers and admirers.
On Instagram, LL Cool J wrote, “You were a father and example at a time when I truly needed a father and example. Mentor. Role model. King. You gave me opportunities and shared wisdom. Music would not be music without you. My condolences to the entire family. I love you. Rest in the sweetest music eternally. #ripquincyjones one of one.”
“It’s hard to find the words to express the impact @QuincyDJones has had on me, as well as on music and culture as a whole. Quincy wasn’t just a legend, he was an inspiration, a trailblazer, and a true genius. He produced my favorite album of all time, ‘Thriller’ by @michaeljackson, an album that set the standard for what music could be, blending genres and pushing boundaries.
I had the honor of meeting Quincy, notably at the Grammys @RecordingAcad, where we even had the chance to speak in French, a language he mastered so beautifully. Those moments will stay with me forever. Thank you, Quincy, for all you’ve given us. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists to come.
Rest in peace.”
Ice-T also wrote, “I woke up today to the Terrible news that we lost Quincy Jones.. Genius is a discription loosely used but Rarely deserved. Point blank, Quincy was the MAN. I won my 1st Grammy with Quincy and I live with his Wisdom daily. My condolences go out to his family who I had the honor of meeting. This one Hit me. God bless you KING.”
Elsewhere, Michael Caine wrote, “My Celestial twin Quincy was a titan in the musical world. He was a wonderful and unique human being, lucky to have known him.” Victoria Monét also tweeted, “[broken heart emojis] to one of my biggest inspirations! Quincy I love you so much!!! Your legacy will live on forever and ever [single tear emoji] Heaven definitely got an upgrade with you.” Darius Rucker tweeted, “We have lost one of the all time greats. The world will miss Quincy Jones. Rest my friend.” Additionally, Sheryl Lee Ralph wrote, “Rest in Peace and Perfect Pitch Quincy Jones! What a life well lived.”
This week sees the release of Barry Keoghan‘s first movie since his Golden Globe-nominated role in Saltburn.
In Bird, the Irish actor (and boyfriend of Sabrina Carpenter?) plays Bug, the father of imaginative 12-year-old Bailey (Nykiya Adams). The film also features the big-screen debut of Fontaines DC guitarist Carlos O’Connell. To coincide with the release of Bird, the band released a music video for Romance cut “Bug,” which takes the form of “shortform reimagination” of the film starring Keoghan and directed by American Honey filmmaker Andrea Arnold.
You can watch the music video for “Bug” above.
“Andrea Arnold was kind enough to cut up a sequence to our tune Bug featuring Barry Keoghan playing the character Bug in her new movie Bird,” O’Connell said in a statement. “Bug’s a song that happened quickly and convinced everyone quicker. In my eyes, the character Bug, the tattoo ‘Bug’s Life,’ Andrea’s essential & romantic worlds, and the line ‘Changed my name to ‘Promise you, Yea”; when put all together make convincing needless & conviction undeniable. Big thanks to Andrea Arnold for letting us in so close to her visionary universe. She’ll be remembered how we remember Bacon or Goya.”
Bird hits select theaters on Nov. 8 before a wide release on Nov. 15.
Things have been going great for Coldplay on their record-breaking Music Of The Spheres tour, which has so far brought in around a billion dollars, making it the highest-grossing rock tour of all time. That doesn’t mean everything has been perfect, though, as Chris Martin might tell you after a recent on-stage mishap.
A video from the band’s Melbourne, Australia concert on November 3 shows Martin talking to the audience as he walks backwards, unknowingly towards an opening in the stage. Some fans, presumably ones near Martin and seeing what was about to happen, could be heard screaming as Martin approached the hole. But, Martin still fell in, but fortunately, he was caught by somebody in the hole.
Martin played it off well, saying, “That’s, uh, not planned. Thank you for catching me, so much, thank you guys. Holy sh*t, that’s going to be a YouTube moment.” He later went full Oprah and pointed at the people in the hole, saying, “You get a bonus, you get a bonus…”
This comes shortly after Olivia Rodrigo has a similar moment in concert last month, also falling into a hole on stage. Like Martin, she handled the stumble with grace, quickly popping back up and telling the audience, “Oh my god, that was fun! I’m OK! Woah! Sometimes there’s just a hole in the stage. That’s alright!”
Pete Davidson returned to SNL this weekend, looking different than the last time he appeared on the late-night comedy series. The actor and comedian popped up in the John Mulaney-hosted episode playing a Duane Reade customer in the now-requisite musical sketch. He wore a Rodney Dangerfield shirt showing off his arms, which have noticeably less tattoos than they used to.
Davidson has been slowly getting his tattoos removed in order to book more roles. “I honestly never thought that I would get an opportunity to act and I love it a lot,” he explained on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021. “It takes, like, three hours — you have to get there, like, three hours earlier — to cover all your tattoos. For some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them much.”
That same year, he also confessed to People that he’s “made a lot of questionable choices, and a couple of them need removing. But now I’m trying to make smarter choices… We’re shooting some stuff and it takes like a month for it to heal. But like it’s pretty much off this hand. I get my next treatment [in] like a month or so. They said by the time I’m 30, they should all be gone. So they got like two more years left of this.”
