YG, Mozzy, And Ty Dolla Sign’s Video For ‘Vibe With You’ Is The Essence Of A West Coast Summer Day

YG and Mozzy dropped their joint album Kommunity Service last month. It was a solid display of West Coast rap and it’s one that the duo continues to promote. Indeed, now they’ve dropped a new video for “Vibe With You,” which elicits Ty Dolla Sign to sing the song’s chorus, all while the trio drinks in the essence of a West Coast summer day. That includes riding with their ladies in a car with the top down and enjoying an outdoor day party with a large cast of women standing around them.

“Vibe With You” is the fifth track from Kommunity Service to receive the video treatment, following ones for “Dangerous” with G Herbo, “Gangsta,” “Perfect Timing” with Blxst, and “Bompton To Oak Park.” As for Kommunity Service as a whole, the 10-track album features help from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, G Herbo, Tyga, D3, E Mozzy, Celly Ru, and Young M.A., in addition to the aforementioned names.

Elsewhere, Mozzy recently stood alongside Allblack and YFN Lucci in their own videos, while YG handed out more than $20,000 worth of his Block Runner shoes to ex-inmates in Los Angeles.

You can watch the visual for “Vibe With You” above.

Kommunity Service is out now via Mozzy Records/4Hunnid Records/EMPIRE. Get it here.

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Jayson Tatum Is Reportedly Set To Join USA Basketball For The Summer Olympics

A handful of names that are set to make up the United States men’s basketball team at the Tokyo Olympics are starting to get leaked. Earlier in the day on Tuesday, it was reported that Portland Trail Blazers standout Damian Lillard and Golden State Warriors ace Draymond Green committed to joining the roster for this summer’s festivities.

Now, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports has the latest All-Star to toss their hat into the ring. Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics has reportedly given a commitment to head overseas this summer with an eye on helping the United States’ men’s team win its fourth consecutive gold medal.

This would serve as an opportunity at international redemption for Tatum, who was among the players who suited up for the United States at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in China in 2019. Tatum suffered a sprained ankle during the tournament, and the U.S. famously finished in seventh place, marking the first time since 2002 that the team failed to medal in a major international competition.

Tatum has grown considerably as a player since then, and this past year, the Celtics’ star had his best all-around campaign in the Association. Tatum averaged 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 35.8 minutes per game.

Mike Pompeo’s Bizarre Tweet About People He Termed ‘Pipehitters’ Inspired Everyone To Make Drug Jokes

Donald Trump and his minions were never merely evil. They were also weird. The president-turned-failed blogger always led the charge, establishing a foundation of Mad Libs-style horrors that combined the nefarious with the absurd. (And he’s still got it!) One of the least flamboyant — though still shifty — of his staffers was Mike Pompeo, who took over as Secretary of State in April 2018, and rode it out until the end. He largely — but not entirely — kept a low profile. But he’s been acting up a bit since he lost his old job.

Tuesday saw a good example of the lunacy of which Pompeo is capable. Apropos of nothing much at all, the former CIA director took to Twitter to call upon “unapologetic Americans” to “join me and become a Pipehitter.”

What…could that possibly mean? Pompeo helpfully included a definition of the term it appears he just made up. In a pastiche of dictionary definitions, he defined it as “someone who is unapologetically American, someone who fights for our future, someone who never gives an inch, someone who is dedicated to stand against the radical Left’s agenda.”

Pompeo may have been a relatively quiet Trump staffer, but he wasn’t without incident. Perhaps his greatest offense was that time he chillingly claimed Trump would “transition” into a “second term” after losing the 2020 election to Joe Biden. Still, this kind of lowest-common-denominator conservative red meat business seemed slightly out of character for him.

But it was bizarre any way you slice it. And people on social media were quickly taken aback.

Some complained that there are already too many Trumpists to mock these days. (For instance, on Monday Ted Cruz went viral on two separate occasions.)

Some pointed out the term was ill-advised, if he was advised at all.

Some pointed out “pipehitter” is already a term, and not one you want.

Others pointed out that this proves, once again, that satire is dead.

But the majority of people saw Mike Pompeo drop the term “pipehitter” and immediately thought of drugs.

There were other jokes as well.

So there you have it: Yet another person who used to be employed by Donald Trump, stepping directly into that rake.

Jeff Bezos’ Ex-Wife MacKenzie Scott Is Being Praised For Donating A Ton Of Money, All While He Plans To Go To Space

Last week Jeff Bezos announced that he was going to step down as CEO of Amazon, the mega-corporation he created, earlier than expected. Why? In part because he wants to go to space. While the world’s richest person was using his imaginable wealth to nurse a childhood dream, his ex-wife was donating billions to organizations that seek to make the world a better place. And when news broke, people couldn’t help but point out which was the better half in the marriage.

As per The New York Times, MacKenzie Scott, formerly Bezos, along with her husband Dan Jewett, has decided to give $2.74 billion to organizations involving the arts and the fight against racial discrimination. Her divorce from the Amazon honcho in 2019 left her with $36 billion in company stock. Since then that number has ballooned to almost $60 billion, much of it during the pandemic, which saw the company — and Bezos’ already unimaginable wealth — grow far richer, all while many, including Amazon employees, suffered.

But unlike her ex-husband, Scott has no interest in hording her wealth, or spending it on things like space travel. She’s always promised to give her riches away “until the safe is empty.” Indeed, this isn’t the first time she’s tried to empty her purse. Over the last 11 months, she’s donated some $8 billion, mostly to nonprofits. Last year alone she gave $6 billion to 500 organizations. Among the 286 she’s donating to in this latest dump include the Alaska Native Heritage Center, Broward College in Florida, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. The average donation is around $10 million each.

Scott is operating differently than other charitable billionaires, such as Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates (the latter also soon to be an ex). She doesn’t have a foundation. Instead she gives money when she likes, writing about where she’s giving to and why on blog posts on Medium. These posts also include her ruminating about philanthropy, with her saying she wants “to de-emphasize privileged voices and cede focus to others.”

When news broke that at least someone whose wealth is tied to Amazon was trying to pay it forward, it was met with fulsome praise.

Others dwelled more on her considerably less philanthropic ex.

There were jokes.

And there were reminders that maybe waiting around for billionaires to do the right thing isn’t a solid game plan for making the world a better place.

While his ex-wife is being praised for being a good person, Bezos himself was being trolled with jokey Change.org petitions that called him out for what he’s done — and what he hasn’t, namely paying his fair share in taxes.

Stephen A Smith Has Takes On The Westminster Dog Show Winner: ‘He Seems A Little Bit Arrogant’

A Pekingese named Wasabi was named best in show at the 145th annual Westminster Dog Show on Sunday night. Wasabi seems like a good dog, all things considered, but one person has some pretty major gripes with the dog becoming the fifth Pekingese to take home this title, as Stephen A. Smith used his ESPN+ show, Stephen A’s World, to speak out against the toy breed.

At the crux of Smith’s argument appears to be two things. For one, Wasabi would “scare the living hell out of me,” particularly at night rolls around.

“The house is dark, and you’re just walkin’ around, or you’re just chillin’, sittin’ there, and you open your eyes and I see some little flickering at me — it would scare me, it would scare me, I’m sorry,” Smith said.

He’s also not a fan of Wasabi chilling with all of his awards, saying “he seems a little bit arrogant, that’s what comes to my mind about him.”

Now, Smith did say that Wasabi seems like a pretty laid back dog, which is usually the case for the breed — the American Kennel Clubs says that they possess a “calm” energy level. But still, I would watch an hour of television that is just Stephen A. Smith giving takes on dogs. If you’re reading this, Stephen A, I will send you a picture of my Australian shepherd so you can roast his ass. Just let me know.

Jay-Z Sues The Photographer Who Shot The ‘Reasonable Doubt’ Cover

TMZ reports that Jay-Z is suing photographer Jonathan Mannion Photography LLC for using Jay-Z’s name and image without his consent. Mannion, who shot the cover photo for Jay-Z’s 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt, has been using the photos to generate “thousands of dollars” selling prints and merchandise for years, and Jays that when he requested an end to this practice, Mannion demanded “tens of millions of dollars.”

Jay’s lawsuit points out that while Mannion was hired to shoot the cover and had hundreds of leftover, unused images, he was compensated for the photo sessions and Jay-Z maintains the rights to how his likeness is used. Mannion was never given permission to sell or otherwise use the photos from the Reasonable Doubt sessions, with Jay calling it “ironic that a photographer would treat the image of a formerly-unknown Black teenager, now wildly successful, as a piece of property to be squeezed for every dollar it can produce.” The lawsuit demands Mannion pay Jay any profits he’s made from the sale of the prints and merch using his image.

Speaking of profit from Jay-Z’s image, it was only March that a signed Topps trading card bearing it was sold for a record-breaking sum, raking in $105,780 at auction. If that’s what a mass-produced flick of Jay-Z goes for, it’s no wonder Mannion wanted a piece of the action — and why Jay, the ultimate businessman, wanted that piece back.

The NBA Announced The 69 Players Expected To Attend The Draft Combine

After a 2020 NBA Draft cycle that was anything but normal, the league is getting back to its typical events prior to this July’s 2021 NBA Draft.

The first major event to return is the Draft Combine on June 21-27 in Chicago, where there will be 69 expected attendees who will workout, play 5-on-5 games, do drills, and interview with teams, with TV coverage on ESPN2 and ESPNU on June 24 and 25 of the 5-on-5 games.

The complete, alphabetical list of names expected to be in Chicago can be found below, headlined by the likes of Evan Mobley, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga. The most notable players not in attendance are presumptive No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham and Gonzaga star Jalen Suggs, but many of the rest will be in Chicago to talk to teams — although its possible some will opt out of games and/or drills. For others, the Combine is a chance to pop in front of the entire league and flash athleticism and skill to try and climb up draft boards and hear their name called in July.

Gwyneth Paltrow Can Only Watch Herself In One Scene (In ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’) Out Of All Her Movies

There are many actors who can’t watch themselves onscreen. One major exception is Samuel L. Jackson, who loves watching movies featuring him. But then there’s his MCU and Hard Eight colleague Gwyneth Paltrow. The Oscar-winning thespian famously can’t stand watching herself in movies. But there’s one scene in The Royal Tenenbaums — just one, mind you — that’s the only one she can stomach.

As related by EW, Paltrow was one of a number of Tenenbaum alumni who took part in a 20th anniversary screening and pre-taped panel, as part of this year’s Tribeca Festival. We learned some interesting things. Gene Hackman, who was not present for the reunion, took a big pay cut. Alec Baldwin’s narration almost got scotched. Famously mousy director Wes Anderson actually lost his temper at one point, over cuffs.

But maybe the biggest takeaway was the aforementioned scene of herself that Paltrow actually likes. It’s the one, about a half-hour or so in, where her character, troubled playwright Margot Tenenbaum, steps off the bus, reuniting with her half-brother Richie (Luke Wilson), with whom she’s quietly in love. It’s a wordless stretch, in dreamy slo-mo, set to Nico’s “These Days,” written by Jackson Browne. It’s not just that it’s, let’s be fair, a pretty excellent scene.

“My dad was there, and it was this very special day,” Paltrow recalled, referring to her father Bruce, who passed away in 2002, the year after Tenenbaums was released. “I really hate, hate seeing myself in a movie ever. That’s kind of like the only scene that I can watch of myself, like of my whole career.”

Joy Behar Cracks Up Whoopi Goldberg By Dunking On Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Holocaust Apology: ‘Wait Until She Hears About Slavery’

In a surprising move given Donald Trump’s presidency fostered a political environment where conservatives view apologies as a sign of weakness and wear stubborn defiance as a badge of honor, Marjorie Taylor Greene held a press conference outside the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Monday where she walked back her controversial remarks comparing the genocidal act to mask mandates. It was an unusual turn of events for a party that, again, has built its modern image on doubling down and rarely apologizing for anything.

However, while a rare occurrence, the QAnon congresswoman’s apology wasn’t convincing the ladies of The View the next morning. As Whoopi Goldberg opened up the panel by asking if Greene’s apology was sincere or something she was forced to do by the party, Joy Behar had a lot to say on the matter. Right out of the gate, Behar cracked, “wait until she hears about slavery,” which left Whoopi visibly laughing as she clearly agreed with Behar that the apology wasn’t fooling anybody. From there, Behar got serious as she pointed out that not only has Greene admitted to visiting Auschwitz when she was 19, and should know full well the horrors of the Holocaust from that trip, the Georgia Senator is still using loaded rhetoric.

Via Mediaite:

“I don’t buy it, any of it. I think she’s full of it. … She says she’s apologizing, but then she says Democrats are Nazis, which shows you she has no concept of what Nazis actually did,” Behar added, “so I think that her apology is as empty as her head.”

The other The View co-hosts mostly agreed with Behar, which made for yet another calm discussion thanks to the continued absence of Meghan McCain. The last time the conservative co-host had to talk about Greene, McCain had a meltdown that ended in Whoopi dressing her down live on the air, which forced an emergency meeting where ABC brass had to tell the cast to keep it civil.

Tina Fey Believes It’s Good That We’re Taking A Critical Look Back At Pop Culture: ‘Oh, We All Cosigned That? Oh, That’s Terrible!’

While some comedians aren’t too happy with our more sensitive age, others are fine with it. Entertainers ranging from Seth Rogen to Katt Williams have bristled at the negative reaction to so-called “cancel culture,” telling colleagues, among other things, to simply own up that times change and some jokes don’t age like fine wine. Tina Fey is another. And while on a recent panel at the Tribeca Film Festival, the performer and writer acknowledged that we’re all in the process of wrestling with “terrible” pop culture moments once considered kosher.

As per Mediaite, Fey was on a panel for Girls5eva, the new Peacock comedy for which she’s an executive producer and which concerns a former ’90s all-girl pop group who reunite after one of their songs gets a big time sample. One of the things the characters realize is that some of the stuff they said and did circa the Clinton era doesn’t look so good in the Biden age. That caused Fey to reflect on how we’re all going through a similar cultural reckoning.

“We’re culturally looking back at stuff that we all took as totally normal, fun and just cool… whether it’s the way David Letterman dismantled Lindsay Lohan or an underage Britney Spears singing ‘Slave 4 U,’” she told the crowd, referring to a 2013 interview that caused a stir when it resurfaced a few months back, as well as the documentary Framing Britney Spears. “We’re all looking back at those things now and being like, ‘Oh, we all cosigned that? Oh, that’s terrible.’”

In the past Fey has been critical of her own work. Around this time last year she asked streamers to pull four episodes of 30 Rock that featured blackface jokes. It was part of a strange trend around the turn of the previous decade in which otherwise progressive shows, like Community, Scrubs, and the American The Office, traded in racial jokes that were once thought to be “edgy” but look bad in retrospect, in part because they were always bad.
