Dave Chappelle has been performing stand-up in Texas during the pandemic, and now he’s the latest notable celebrity to have contracted coronavirus while attempting to work during the health crisis.

According to TMZ, Chappelle cancelled the remainder of his shows in Austin after testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

A rep for the comedian tells us Dave is currently quarantined after the positive test, but he has not yet experienced any symptoms. Dave performed the first of 5 shows in Austin Wednesday night with others scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We are told the remaining shows — 2 of which included Joe Rogan — have all been canceled and refunds will be offered.

Photos of Chappelle posing, unmasked, with a variety of people had popped up on social media in recent days. That includes not only Rogan, but also Tesla CEO Elon Musk and his partner, Grimes. Earlier in the month, the singer said on Instagram that she had coronavirus.

The hashtag #covidtested was labeled with the photos, but it’s unclear when anyone in the photo was last tested. Chappelle was no stranger to performing during the pandemic, famously taping his 8:46 special focusing on police brutality with Netflix while an audience wore Chappelle-branded protective masks.

Earlier in 2020, Chappelle hosted Saturday Night Live as well. The show finished its season doing remote shows billed as SNL At Home in the spring, but in October resumed its taping in Studio 8H amid strict coronavirus precautions.

Mulatto ended her 2020 year with the release of her Queen Of Da Souf deluxe album. She gifted fans with five new songs that joined the project’s original 13 tracks. Now in 2021, Mulatto is back in action, but this time, in the form of a guest appearance alongside rising rapper and Atlanta native, BRS Kash. The two acts bring some high-octane strip club energy for “Kash App.” The track finds them both boasting about money with BRS Kash, who rose to fame thanks to his breakout hit, “Throat Baby,” promising to throw some money or send a CashApp to a woman if she keeps him entertained. Mulatto slides onto the strip club-ready track with a verse that describes her impact on the men she interacts with.

The new track can be found on BRS Kash’s new project, Kash Only. Across its 13 songs, fans can expect to hear contributions from DaBaby and City Girls, who both lend verses to a “Throat Baby” remix, and Toosii. Kash Only is also the rapper’s first project under the LVRN imprint, which he signed to last summer. Mulatto, on the other hand, is still promoting her Queen Of Da Souf album as she recently released videos for “Sex Lies” and “Spend It.” The fellow ATLien also promised to change her name as her current moniker is rooted in colorism within the Black community.

According to an eagle eyed screenshotter at Pop Crave, Justin Bieber shared an update on more new music on his Instagram story. “Finishing this album. Stay tuned,” the pop star wrote briefly, along with an image of himself singing into a recording mic.

It’s both surprising and not surprising that the singer is almost done with a new record. On the one hand, it is surprising because he only just released an album, Changes, last spring, and usually he takes several years in between official projects. The gap was five years between Changes in 2020 and Purpose in 2015.

Then again, it’s not surprising because no one can go on tour right now, so lots of artists have been very prolific and had time to hit the studio — Taylor Swift, we’re looking at you — and we know that Bieber has been doing that because he released a slew of new singles last year. “Holy” with Chance The Rapper dropped last September, “Lonely” with Benny Blanco came in October and “Monster” with Shawn Mendes hit in late November, though it’s unclear if the latter would appear on a new Justin album because it was ostensibly for Shawn’s album Wonder.

Justin dropped latest new song “Anyone” on New Year’s Day. All of the new singles have all been well-received, so let’s hope this new album really does open a new chapter for the pop icon.

In a filing that is very similar to another suit brought back in 2019, TMZ reports that Soulja Boy is being sued by his former personal assistant. The suit, filed under Jane Doe, alleges sexual battery, sexual assault, and false imprisonment. The 2019 suit of a similar nature included an accusation of a concussion and three broken ribs, and Jane Doe alleges similar violence in the new claim.

According to this new report, the assistant began working for Soulja during 2018 and he escalated their relationship by sending unsolicited lewd photos of his penis. Eventually, the two developed a consensual romantic relationship and she moved in with him, but it often escalated to violent altercations, like when he allegedly pushed her out of a vehicle in January of 2019. The former assistant says the first physical assault occurred in February of 2019, and that the rapper “expressed remorse” after the incident by giving her $1,000. Other allegations include being locked in a room with no food and water, being spit on and punched, kicked and body slammed.

The suit alleges that Doe was violently assaulted — sometimes twice a day — and one case in August of 2020 was so horrible that she moved out, but when she returned to get her belongings was raped again. A representative for the rapper reportedly gave the following statement to TMZ: “Soulja would never put his hands on a female. He wouldn’t beat a woman or put his hands on a woman … this is non-sense!!!”

While this seems to be a separate suit from the previous ones filed, it’s impossible to miss the similarities in claims made by the women.

After cruising to a 22-point home win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors hosted the New York Knicks in San Francisco on Thursday evening. With the game between the Warriors and Knicks serving as the only NBA contest not on national television during the night’s slate, there may have been less attention on the proceedings but, before halftime, a notable moment occurred involving Draymond Green.

Green, who picked up a technical foul at approximately the four-minute mark of the first quarter, was demonstrative in an on-brand way during live action late in the second quarter. His vocal expression prompted another technical foul to be assessed and, because it was his second, Green was ejected.

While that sequence may not seem too crazy, the reactions of essentially everyone on the Golden State side painted a different picture, namely because Green appeared to be yelling at his teammate, rookie big man James Wiseman, to do his job in semi-transition on defense instead of the officials when he was heaved from the game.

This is a situation that has everything. Green is a notable personality and character, and his facial expressions and chatter are worth the price of admission in the video clip above. You can see him pointing at Wiseman, indicating to the official that he wasn’t yelling at them but instead his rookie teammate. From there, Steph Curry seems thoroughly confused and Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is so bothered that the broadcast seems to think he is pondering a challenge to the technical foul.

Ultimately, there was no saving Green from his eventual fate and, at the break, the Warriors trailed the Knicks by six points. Green’s absence leaves Golden State in a less favorable position for the second half but, if nothing else, this is a moment of real hilarity from the outside looking in. Green has earned a few technical fouls in his day, but this one was one-of-a-kind.

Donald Trump lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden, and on Wednesday he lost something that will also make him mad: the TV ratings battle. According to Variety, the new president got better TV ratings than Trump did when he was inaugurated in 2017.

Though Biden didn’t win with quite the “landslide” Trump once claimed the margin to be in the electoral college, it’s enough of a boost to beat the ratings Trump had four years ago and helped CNN make its own network history.

Approximately 39.87 million people watched the half-hour swearing-in ceremony over the nation’s six major TV-news outlets, according to Nielsen, compared with 38.35 million viewers for the 2017 event. The 2021 figure represents an approximately 4% increase over its 2017 predecessor.

CNN’s coverage captured an average of 9.9 million for the pivotal half hour, leading the pack. The AT&T-backed cable-news network said the numbers represented the biggest audience it has captured for an inauguration broadcast in its history.

The Variety report also indicated yet another bad day for Fox News, which lagged behind CNN and other networks in audience on inauguration day. That certainly makes sense given Fox viewers tend to lean right, and therefore were not as eager to watch Biden take the oath of office and replace Trump. But it’s another number that speaks to a notable downward trend for the network that long worked to support Trump.

The weirdness of the Trump presidency started almost immediately in 2017, and it certainly began with his own inauguration. He famously had then-press secretary Sean Spicer insist that Trump drew more people to his inauguration than Obama, to the point that photos were necessary to debunk those “alternate facts.” Trump also didn’t beat Obama in the ratings but, from there, it was four very, very long years.

Trump can, perhaps, take solace in the fact that more people likely attended his inauguration than Biden drew. But that has a lot more to do with the still-ongoing coronavirus pandemic he failed to help control and the coup attempt his followers carried out at the US Capitol he helped incite earlier in the month. Trump has always cared about TV ratings, so this will surely sting. But if he’s upset about it, well, we won’t know until he finds a way to release a statement about it. He’s still, of course, banned from Twitter.

Days after an outburst in the Cavaliers’ locker room that led reporters to indicate his time in Cleveland was up, Kevin Porter Jr. is now on his way to Houston, according to reporting from Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Rockets will reportedly give up a future protected second-round pick in the deal to acquire Porter, who has dealt with off-court problems dating all the way back to his one-and-done season at USC and as recently as November, when he was charged with improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle after a car crash outside Cleveland — all charges were later dropped after a grand jury declined to indict him on the gun charges.

The issue came to a head when Porter, who had been given permission to spend time away from the Cavaliers while he got his situation in order, lost his temper when new acquisition Taurean Prince was given locker space where Porter’s had been. According to reports, Porter got into a yelling match with general manager Koby Altman and threw food.

The second-round pick the Rockets give up in the deal could ultimately amount to nothing, as NBA teams often trade conditional picks to satisfy league rules that do not actually transfer to the receiving team. Houston will reportedly waive Chris Clemons to free up the roster spot for Porter.

For Houston, it’s a chance at a tremendously talented young player who put together a promising rookie season in 2019-20 but hasn’t been able to quite shake free of off-court issues. On a young, rebuilding team in the aftermath of the James Harden trade, Porter should have an opportunity to contribute and get a fresh start, which might be exactly what he needs to fulfill his exceptional promise as a player.

DaniLeigh found herself in some controversy on Wednesday after she posted a snippet to her unreleased “Yellow Bone” track to Instagram, one she said was dedicated to her “light skin baddies.” The song was not received well by listeners as she was hit with a heavy dose of criticism, which she responded to by asking, “Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types?”

DaniLeigh would eventually delete the Instagram post and soon after, she took to Twitter to defend herself and her actions.

“Congratulations y’all gotta another thing to say about me when u hate …it’s all good .. only God can ‘cancel’ me… that sh*t don’t mean sh*t to me bc the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention and real life … I’m sorry if I offended u,” she said in one tweet. Elsewhere she called critics of the song “haters” adding, “I’m Dominican…I’m Spanish, I’m Black, I’m white, leave me alone.”

After catching wind of her comments, Chika quoted one of DaniLeigh’s tweets and condemned her response to the criticism.

“This is a terrible response to valid criticism,” Chika said in one tweet. “No shade. as a black woman, you should be more than aware of colorism & why this song wouldn’t sit well with a black audience.” She added, “It doesn’t feel good having a billion people at your neck, but it’s not about being ‘canceled.’ it’s about taking accountability.”

Sony’s PlayStation 5 games reveal showed off a look at the next game in the Resident Evil series, and now we know that Resident Evil 8 will officially be called Resident Evil Village. With that news came a story trailer for the game and a release date: May 7.

Ethan Winters is back, searching for his missing daughter in a new location sure to frighten you just as much as all the others. The trailer is as creepy as ever, featuring crucified people, flashlight-lit gun strafing and plenty of attacking ghouls.

“This place is full of nothing but blood and death,” a voice says, which sets a fairly predictable tone for what’s to come. Including images like this.

And according to an IGN report, the PS5 demo isn’t merely a slice of what will be the final game, but a unique experience that only PlayStation 5-havers will get to experience.

Instead of playing as Resident Evil 7 and Village protagonist Ethan Winters, players will take control of a character called the “Maiden.” Fabiano says the demo doesn’t have combat, but like Resident Evil 7: Beginning Hour, the events of the demo will likely tie into the events of Resident Evil Village in some way.

The good news for those that haven’t bought (or found) Sony’s next-gen console just yet is that Capcom said a different demo will also hit other consoles later in the spring. Which means we’ll see at least one other piece of the puzzle before Resident Evil 8 is finally released.

Ghostbusters fans got some good news and bad news on Thursday, but at least the good news (kind of) gave us some memes. Variety reported Thursday that the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife was delayed, part of a fresh slew of delays in Hollywood thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

That includes the James Bond film No Time To Die, which saw yet another delay to October of 2021 after being one of the first major films to get pushed back due to coronavirus last spring. But Ghostbusters: Afterlife, along with the other movies like a Cinderella retelling and an Uncharted film based on the video game franchise.

Sony has shifted release dates for numerous titles, including “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” Camila Cabello’s “Cinderella” and “Uncharted” with Tom Holland.

“Cinderella” will release in theaters on July 16 instead of Feb. 5. That delay bumps the video game adaptation “Uncharted,” which was originally set for mid-July, to Feb. 11, 2022. Meanwhile, “Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway” has moved back two months from April 2 to June 11. In turn, the “Ghostbusters” sequel was delayed to Nov. 11.

That’s the bad news, but we did apparently get a look at one of the new ghosts from Afterlife. A video from the Spanish version of MasterChef Junior seems to have revealed a new ghost from Afterlife, a very soggy-looking fella who apparently goes by the name Muncher.

The character pops up at the 38 second mark of the video, if you need to see it in person. But while the character will almost certainly be the center of lots of promotional foodstuffs in the coming months, the initial look at muncher almost immediately became a meme. It was no Bernie Sanders sitting outside in the cold, but it certainly drew some laughs from people making fun of Muncher’s droopy appearance.

Mostly because people were kind of horrified by its appearance in general.
