Fred Willard’s Death Sparked Touching Tributes Throughout Hollywood

The death of Fred Willard on Saturday sparked an outpouring of grief from those who knew him and the many that loved his roles in various shows and movies over the years. News broke of the actor’s passing Saturday at the age of 86, leaving behind a strong career and countless people to share touching stories and memories of the man known by many for his hapless and hilarious characters.

Willard’s death turned social media into a parade of his great moments on film — a personal favorite is his brilliant dog show commentator role from Best In Show. But more than just his roles, many in Hollywood shared warm memories of Willard on set and away from his work as news of his death spread.

Steve Carell, who himself has played a number of clueless comedic roles in his career, called Willard the “funniest person” he ever worked with.

Others soon shared similar sentiments and memories of their time with Willard.

Jamie Lee Curtis shared a scene from Best In Show in her post memorializing Willard.

As Saturday carried on and news of his passing spread, it became clear that the actor played far bigger a role in Hollywood than the smalltime characters he often portrayed on screen.

Many shared some terribly funny stories about Willard as well, something he would certainly appreciate.

Stories like this are a little of why Willard was so beloved by so many, and will be remembered for years to come.

Drew Gulak Is Suddenly Gone From WWE

Surprising news has broken this Saturday evening as Drew Gulak, the former Cruiserweight Champion who most recently competed in an Intercontinental Championship Tournament match against Daniel Bryan on Friday’s edition of Smackdown, is no longer signed to WWE, and has been moved to the alumni section of WWE.com.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that they’d confirmed he’d been released, but PWInsider corrected that report to explain he hadn’t been released, and that his contract had simply run out as he and WWE were unable to negotiation his re-signing.

We are told the two sides had been discussing a new deal, but had not yet come to terms on the deal before Gulak’s existing deal expired. This shockingly places Gulak on the open market just hours after one of his best WWE performances to date as he would have no 90-day non-compete as WWE would not be paying him going forward, which means he can appear and wrestle anywhere immediately.

Gulak joined WWE in 2016 as part of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament, and stuck around to be a tent pole of the cruiserweight division for the next several years. He’d recently been an important face on Smackdown, feuding with and then coaching Daniel Bryan.

Ahmad Rashad Will Hold An ‘NBA Inside Stuff’ Reunion Before The Finale Of ‘The Last Dance’

Ahmad Rashad has popped up a whole lot in The Last Dance. The former Pro Bowl wide receiver-turned-sports broadcaster was a confidant of Michael Jordan’s throughout the Hall of Fame guard’s career, and on multiple occasions, we’ve seen that Rashad is more than just a member of the media in Jordan’s eyes, even riding in his car from his home to the arena and being someone that Jordan could rely on at his father’s funeral.

Rashad’s time covering the NBA occurred, most notably, as the host of NBA Inside Stuff, which gave fans a look into the lives of players. The show still exists on NBA TV, but during Rashad’s tenure, the program aired on NBC and, eventually, ABC.

Ahead of the final episodes of The Last Dance, which air on Sunday evening on ESPN, Rashad will host an Inside Stuff reunion. Details are a bit sparse about what exactly will happen on the reunion, but as Rashad explained, it’ll air at 7 p.m. on the NBA’s Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch accounts.

Rashad had a handful of old hosts on the show, which is now hosted by Grant Hill and Kristen Ledlow, and there’s no word on whether it’ll just be Rashad or if any of Julie Moran, Willow Bay, and Summer Sanders will hop on, too. Hopefully the whole gang shows up, and because it’s Ahmad Rashad, here’s to hoping he’s able to score an MJ cameo, too.
