Billie Eilish Confirmed She’s Never Been Dumped, But She Explained Why Breaking Up With Someone Hurts Just As Much

Uproxx crowned Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard And Soft among the “Best Albums Of 2024 So Far,” largely due to Eilish’s self-awareness. Eilish displayed acute self-awareness when speaking with Lana Del Rey for Interview Magazine, especially related to her role in relationships.

First, Eilish admitted, “I literally hate who I am so much when I’m in love.” That led to a broader sentiment, as excerpted below:

“I really don’t like being — I was going to say out of control, but there’s ways that I do like being out of control. I have a power issue and a control issue, and I also don’t like being vulnerable in a romantic way. It makes me feel uncomfortable, and I don’t know how many times I’ve really been in love. I think there’s different versions of love, and I think that you can be in love and it might not be deep. I’m not going to get too in detail, because I’m going to be rude, but I’ve never been dumped, and also, I’ve never been broken up with. I’ve only done the breaking up.

“And I think when people hear that, they’re like, ‘Oh, all you do is break hearts.’ Sure, but that doesn’t mean that people are totally innocent. It means that I was like, ‘Oh, let me get the f*ck out of here.” Or it means things just weren’t right.”

After Del Rey relating to Eilish’s thought about dumpees’ culpability, Eilish added, “Now some of y’all about to be real mad at me, but I do believe that breaking up with someone versus being broken up with — obviously being broken up with hurts like hell, especially when you don’t see it coming and you wanted a future and it’s taken out of your hands. But honestly, the pain of knowing that you have to end something with somebody that you genuinely love is so horrible. […] And you don’t get to even have the, like, ‘I got dumped, so f*ck you guys. I get to go crazy and have a reaction and be mad at you. And I get to make you into an enemy, because you broke up with me.’ You can’t do that. You can’t become a victim.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Eilish discussed a “frustrating” aspect of her overwhelming fame is “feeling the need to explain myself all the time.” While society is more accepting in several ways, as she said, she still gets “a lot of anxiety” from the thought that, at any moment, there could be a rumor circulating globally that’s either untrue or out of context, and “my want and need to explain myself, I have found to be extremely damaging to my life and my sense of self.” The nine-time Grammy winner and two-time Oscar winner has realized at just 22 years old that “it’s only gotten worse” when she tries to explain herself publicly because it leads to premature declarations about who she is without leaving her room to evolve.

When Will Normani’s New Album ‘Dopamine’ Be On Spotify?

Dopamine, the solo debut from former Fifth Harmony member Normani, is due to release soon, after months — years, really — of buildup. The New Orleans native has had a long, winding road to get to this point, and now that it’s here, fans can’t wait for the opportunity to stream her first complete body of work as a solo artist. But, when will the album, which has 13 tracks featuring Cardi B, Gunna, and James Blake, be available to stream on DSPs like Apple Music and Spotify?

With a due date of June 14, Dopamine should be streaming at midnight, Eastern time (9 PM Pacific). There’s no reason to believe that the album will be pushed back, and after a rollout that has included an airtight rollout with a short film, singles like “1:59” and “Candy Paint,” and striking art direction that no doubt took months to pull off, you can bet Normani won’t fumble at the one-yard line.

In a recent interview, Normani reflected on her time in the now-defunct girl group Fifth Harmony, likening it to a jail sentence. “We just continued to do shows, and I was fearing for my life,” she said, recalling a period after an interview when crazed fans of her bandmate Camila Cabello sent her death threats over a misperceived interview quote. “But they continued to put me out there on the stage. It was pretty much like, ‘The show goes on’.” Now that she’s on her own, though, she’s free to say what she wants — and make the music that makes her happy.

Dopamine is out on 6/14 via RCA.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Presumed Innocent’ Season 1?

Presumed Innocent Jake Gyllenhaal
Apple TV+

Jake Gyllenhaal is a busy guy these days. While he was roughing up dudes in the Prime Video (Amazon) Road House reboot, he also overlapped with days of tossing on a suit and filming for Apple TV+’s newest legal thriller, Presumed Innocent.

In the series, Gyllenhaal portrays a prosecutor in trouble after his affair partner/co-worker is murdered. His DNA is all over her bedroom, and he had been repeatedly calling her and following her footsteps online. It does not look good for Jake’s character, Rusty Sabich, in this adaptation of Scott Turow’s book of the same name.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Presumed Innocent’ Season 1?

In this first TV venture for Gyllenhaal, expect him to do a ton of squirming over the course of eight episodes. Not only will Rusty be on the hook as a murder suspect, but he did so as a married father, and his wife was not aware of her husband’s affair until she became informed in arguably the messiest circumstances possible. From the show’s synopsis:

Based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow, the gripping series takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of a crime. The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.

Presumed Innocent will stream two episodes on June 12 and run weekly until July 24.

Music fans have waited a long time for Normani’s solo debut album (seriously, a LONG time), but the wait is nearly over. Dopamine, the former Fifth Harmony member’s first-ever solo album, is due to hit DSPs in just a few hours, after a rollout that has included the single “Candy Paint” and plenty of reflection on her time in the now-defunct girl band. So, when can you stream Dopamine on DSPs like Apple Music and Spotify?

With a due date of June 14, Dopamine should be available to stream as soon as clocks strike 12 midnight, Eastern time (9 PM Pacific), putting an end to nearly a decade of waiting for a full collection of solo music from the New Orleans native. With a 13-song tracklist including guest features from Cardi B, Gunna, and James Blake, Normani gave a hint of the behind-the-scenes struggles to make Dopamine a reality on Instagram.

“This moment symbolizes so much more than any photo could ever capture,” she wrote. “There has been so much resistance and many adversities throughout this process for me. Thank you to my fans for always keeping me encouraged and for being my reason to continue to endure and push through. This chapter is dedicated to you. ily guys more than you know.”

Dopamine is out on 6/14 via RCA.

‘Bridgerton’ Fans Have A Lot Of Thoughts On The Show’s Longest And ‘Hottest’ Sex Scene Yet

bridgerton sex scene
netflix

Before the second half of Bridgerton season three premiered, a fan of the show told star Nicola Coughlan at a Q&A that she was “brave” for participating in nude scenes. “You know, it is hard because I think women with my body type — women with perfect breasts — we don’t get to see ourselves onscreen enough,” she replied to cheers from the crowd. “And I’m very proud as a member of the perfect breasts community. I hope you enjoy seeing them.”

Coughlan’s, ahem, “perfect breasts” are on display in Bridgerton season 3, episode 5, which features the show’s longest sex scene to date.

Set to a string cover of Ariana Grande’s “POV,” the scene between Penelope Featherington (Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) is nearly six minutes long. The pair got so into it, they destroyed some of the set while filming the racy encounter. “We did break a piece of furniture while doing one of those scenes,” Coughlan told EW. “I didn’t know what it was gonna be like, but it’s a little bit like a stunt in which they’re like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do this, this, and this.’ But then they gave us freedom to like, we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do.” She added, “It was fun.”

Here’s the proof:

Fans of the show are sharing their thoughts on the sex scene.

“Nah that love scene between Penelope and Colin was just so gorgeous and sensual and beautiful probably the best yet,” one viewer wrote, while another added, “Colin gave Penelope a beautiful first time!!! The compliments, the reassurance, the way he made it personal…. the confidence he gave her. That sex scene was everything.” Here are more reactions.

You can stream Bridgerton on Netflix.

Drake Is Being Sued By Members Only For Copyright Infringement Over Some Of His Tour Merch

drake

Drake’s terrible, no-good 2024 continues. The beleaguered rapper, who already saw his reputation take several hits from his ill-advised war of words with Kendrick Lamar, is now being sued for copyright infringement by clothing brand Members Only. According to Billboard, the point of contention is a T-shirt Drake sold during his It’s All a Blur Tour emblazoned with the established brand’s name. The T-shirt referred to the title of a song on Drake’s latest album, For All The Dogs, which, in turn, was most likely inspired by the brand itself.

And while Drake can easily title a song “Members Only,” putting those words on a piece of clothing — the Members Only brand’s domain — he exposed himself to legal action. As the lawsuit states, “The fact that ‘Members Only’ is a song on Drake’s album ‘For All the Dogs’ does not obviate the likelihood of confusion or give [him] a license to use our client’s ‘Members Only’ marks in such a confusing manner, particularly on or in connection with apparel items.”

The fact that Drake’s tour production company, Away From Home Touring Inc., sold shirts bearing the words “Members Only” could have confused fans into thinking the brand Members Only was involved, according to the suit (just typing that out made me a little dizzy). “Away From Home sold … goods bearing the mark ‘Members Only’ that are identical, overlapping, and/or highly similar to the goods that JR Apparel sells bearing its MEMBERS ONLY Marks,” it alleges. Which means that Drake only has one more headache to deal with, when he’s supposed to be off somewhere licking his wounds.

Kevin Jonas Filmed Getting ‘An Actual Little Skin Cancer Guy’ Removed From His Head And Urged Everyone To Get Their Moles Checked

The Jonas Brothers, Uproxx’s June 2023 cover stars, postponed Mexico concert dates from May to August due to Nick Jonas coming down “with a nasty strain of influenza-A.” The Jonas Brothers’ Five Nights. One Night. The World Tour. will resume on August 21 in Mexico City, Mexico, which gives Nick, Kevin Jonas, and Joe Jonas extra time to take care of other things. Joe appears to have his head down on solo music, but Kevin had a much less fun task to tend to.

“So, today, I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head,” Kevin Jonas said in an Instagram video. “Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that has started to grow, and now, I have to get surgery to remove it.”

The video cuts to the eldest Jonas Brother in the car, pulling back his hair to show a bandage near his hairline. “I’m all done,” he said. “Now, it’s time to heal. Heading home. Make sure to get those moles checked, people!”

According to Mayo Clinic, basal cell carcinoma is “a type of skin cancer” that “begins in the basal cells — a type of cell within the skin that produces new skin cells as old ones die off,” and it “most often on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun, such as your head and neck.” Mayo Clinic additionally noted that basal cell carcinoma is “thought to be caused by long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight.”

The Weeknd Interviews Himself… His 10-Year-Old Self… An AI Version Of His 10-Year Old Self

the weeknd 2023
Getty Image

Traditionally, music interviews are between a journalist and an artist. The medium can sometimes break free of that format, though. Sometimes, artists interview each other. Then there’s the latest one from The Weeknd. In it, he interviews himself, except it’s himself at 10 years old, except it’s himself at 10 years old as portrayed via AI.

This was arranged by SSENSE, who used ChatGPT to create a “realistic” chatbot version of young Abel Tesfaye, with which present-day Tesfaye had an era-spanning conversation.

The chat starts with talk about TV shows. The Weeknd notes he’s been watching King Of The Hill and AI Tesfaye responds, “King of the Hill sounds like a big adventure! I imagine sitting on a hill being the king of everything I see!” It then asks real The Weeknd if they can make a cartoon of their own together someday.

From there, the two talk about God, imagination, their mother, and more. Depending on your views on AI, the whole thing is either sweet or perhaps a little bit unsettling and strange. At the very least, it’s an interesting exercise in creative use of technology, more of a creative writing endeavor than a journalistic interview.

Rihanna Is All About The Forehead As She Makes Her Pick For Which Actress She’d Want Starring In Her Biopic

Most people would have a hard time finding something to criticize Rihanna about (well, except for how long it’s taking her to release a new album). Rihanna is fine with picking on herself, though, as she’s been known to bust out some self-deprecating humor about her forehead. Now she’s back at it again with the forehead talk as she makes her pick for who she’d like to portray her in a movie.

Earlier this week, on the red carpet of a Fenty Hair launch event on June 10, Rihanna was asked about who should star in a potential biopic about her. She responded, “Taylor Russell. You know why? Because she’s got, like, a nice forehead. She’s, like, fly. And I feel like I want to be her, so I want her to pretend to be me. I want people to see me in that light.”

The Canadian actress is known for starring in the Netflix series Lost In Space, as well as the movies Waves and Bones And All. She hasn’t publicly responded to the Rihanna shout-out yet, but she did supposedly have a significant connection to the music world recently: It was reported last month that she and Harry Styles broke up after nearly a year of supposedly dating.

Check out the Rihanna interview clip below.
