Jayden Daniels Explains Why He’s Ready To Make The Leap To The NFL

Jayden Daniels won’t have to wait long to hear his name called on Thursday night when the 2024 NFL Draft gets underway. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU is widely expected to be selected No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders, but even if they go in another direction, it’s hard to imagine him falling outside the top 6 picks.

Like every prospect, this year’s Draft is the culmination of years of hard work and seeking out that right opportunity to shine and showcase his full talents. After starting his career at Arizona State, Daniels transferred to LSU where he spent two seasons under Brian Kelly. His first year was solid, but his second was spectacular, as he threw for 3,812 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, while rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns. In Daniels’ eyes, growing in one particular area helped.

“I would say my decisiveness,” Daniels told Uproxx Sports when asked what he improved most in his time at LSU. “That came with the trust and the relationship that I built with the whole offense — the O-line, the running backs, and the receivers especially. Trust them to go out there and make a play, put the ball in their area, and nine times out of 10 they made the play.”

Daniels certainly had good reason to trust those receivers, as Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. are projected first round picks in their own right. Still, there’s a process of building that trust that has to happen, and Daniels has some firsthand experience from transferring into a new environment at LSU that can help him as he makes the move to the NFL.

“Coming in at ASU, you come in with your recruiting class so you kind of already know half the people and you really just got to bond with the other people. But coming to LSU, I was really the only one in my class at that point. I didn’t know anybody, so it just came with time,” Daniels explained. “You know, building relationships, showing people how hard I work, how I lead. And on the field, once you make plays you start getting the respect and the trust of others, and then being able to relate to them, having fun and talking to different people within the locker room. Stuff like that, it means a lot. I mean, you can’t really get those moments back.”

Daniels cherishes those moments and opportunities to build those bonds that go outside the lines. He’s naturally laid back and easy going off the field, noting his favorite thing to do is just “hanging out with my boys,” whether that’s going bowling, playing video games, or whatever else. However, he’s able to flip that switch once it’s time to go to work.

In his time at LSU, Daniels was given a lot of the responsibilities he’ll now be asked to take on at the NFL level. The Tigers aren’t a “check with me” offense, and it was his job to get LSU into the right protection and right checks when needed, which he believes gives him a leg up as he comes into the league.

“It helped me out a lot,” Daniels said of the responsibility LSU gave him. “The pressure that they put on me as far as getting everybody lined up, protections, run checks, run looks, stuff like that based off of different fronts or coverages and things like that. So, it helped me out a lot. That’s stuff that I’m gonna be asked to do at the next level. So it prepared me for that, and now it’s time to take it up another notch.”

As for being able to shoulder that responsibility, he says it’s all about the work you do before the game.

“Really just the film work and the preparation throughout the week. How dedicated are you to the game? You know, the week of practice should be harder than the game,” Daniels said. “You’re kind of just getting all the answers to the test and when the test comes, you go out there and perform, you’re not really thinking about it. So making sure I stress myself out within the week with the preparation, try to get this look and try and get that look. And really once Saturday came, be able to go out there and not really think about playing football or think about anything, just go out and have fun.”

As he gets ready for Draft night, that commitment to preparation means something a little bit different. Daniels is among the many prospects joining forces with Head & Shoulders to make sure he’s looking right for his big moment on the stage in Detroit.

“Head & Shoulders, they take care of my hair and keep my hair looking great,” Daniels said. “So when I walk across the stage, you know I’m able to look my best. I’m really excited about the look that I put together [for Draft night].”

Whatever team that selects him, he’s tried to make sure they know his commitment to and passion for the game of football.

“I think when I got into the meetings, they’ve kind of seen everything on tape of how I am as a player. They asked me, they kind of know that I’m competitive, they do their homework and stuff like that,” Daniels said. “I’m joyful, obviously. Having fun with my guys when they score a touchdown, really just smiling, and things like that. But as a person, really just letting them know how dedicated I am to my craft and the passion I have for football. Obviously, I love football. It helped me out a lot growing up and getting to this point now, so that stuff I wanted them to know.”

Get Ready For Some Extra Destructive (?) Sex Scenes In The Upcoming ‘Bridgerton’ Season

When I think of “destructive” sex scenes, the first thing that comes to mind is Edward Cullen apparently busting up the headboard during the honeymoon sequence of Breaking Dawn — Part 1. And when I think of Bridgerton sex scenes, the term “female gaze” surfaces as well as John Oliver’s “jizzing in blankets.” However, the third Bridgerton season does something different, which is to edge into Cullen territory?

That’s not entirely accurate without context, but there was broken furniture, according to star Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington/Lady Whistledown). As PEOPLE relays, The Derry Girls actress told 7 News Australia that reports were true: she and co-star Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton) did bust up something. A bed? A sofa? A chaise lounge? Coughlan did not clarify but simply declared, “Yeah, hell yeah we did.”

It’s something to look forward to. As well, Coughlan recently told Decider that “the sex scenes in Bridgerton, they take days to film.” Well, no wonder the furniture couldn’t hold up. Even without the resident “Regency F*ckboy” on the scene, this show cannot stop with the randy displays.

Need more? Coughlan also detailed how she and Newton “lounged naked” in between takes, rather than get dressed. They did so under the covers, but still! This show sure knows its audience.

Bridgerton‘s third season (the first half) arrives on May 16.

The Creator Of Deadpool Ended The Speculation That Hugh Jackman Wore ‘Fake Muscles’ In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

A lot of last names can be traced to occupations. If your surname is Miller, for instance, one of your ancestors probably worked (toiled) at a mill back in the day. Same with Butler, Smith, Taylor, etc. This tradition continues today with Hugh Jackman, whose profession is Jacked Man.

Following the release of the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, there was speculation online about how the 55-year-old Jackman, back again as Wolverine, got so ripped. Some even wondered if there was digital trickery involved. That’s not the case, according to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld.

“Hey, I was right there in person and those massive Hugh Jackman biceps are the REAL DEAL. Dude was jacked!!” he wrote on X. “I’ve been seeing folks talk of him wearing fake muscles… WHAT??? No. I touched em!”

This reminds me of something It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star (and friend of Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds) Rob McElhenney once said about how he got jacked. “Look, it’s not that hard. All you need to do is lift weights six days a week, stop drinking alcohol, don’t eat anything after 7pm, don’t eat any carbs or sugar at all, in fact just don’t eat anything you like, get the personal trainer from Magic Mike, sleep nine hours a night, run three miles a day, and have a studio pay for the whole thing over a six to seven month span,” he wrote on Instagram. “I don’t know why everyone’s not doing this. It’s a super realistic lifestyle and an appropriate body image to compare oneself to.”

You, too, can look Jackman and McElhenney if you follow those simple steps!

Deadpool & Wolverine comes out on July 26.

Madison Beer Delivers A Pitch-Perfect ‘Jennifer’s Body’ Remake In Her New ‘Make You Mine’ Video

Madison Beer is keeping the modern classics. Yesterday (April 24), the main pop girly shared the video for her single “Make You Mine,” which features her recreating an iconic thriller.

The song itself features Beer detailing a newfound fixation.

“I wanna feel the rush / I wanna taste the crush / I wanna get you going / I wanna lay you down / I wanna string you out / I wanna make you mine,” she sings on the song’s chorus, over an intoxicating, pulsating beat.

In the video, Beer channels Jennifer Check and Needy Lesnicky, characters played by Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, respectively, in the 2009 film, Jennifer’s Body. As the characters, Beer recreates several scenes from the movie, including the iconic walk down the hallway, the pool scene, and the dance scene.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Beer said “Make You Mine” is her favorite song she’s made to date.

“It’s just so fun, such a feel-good song,” Beer said. “It’s sexy, it’s infectious. I haven’t played it for anyone that hasn’t just like [started] dancing and felt immediately hotter after listening to it, and that’s always how I want to make people feel.”

‘The Simpsons’ Killed Off A Character That’s Been On The Show Since The First Episode

simpsons larry
fox

The Simpsons characters aren’t supposed to die. They’re supposed to live forever in background gags and flashback episodes. Moleman will get the last laugh and outlast us all. There have been a few permanent deaths in Springfield, however, including Fat Tony (good thing he has a look-alike cousin named Fit Tony), Maude Flanders (regrettably), and now, Larry Dalrymple.

“Who,” even the most hardcore Simpsons fan might be wondering?

Larry the barfly, as he’s better known, has been on the show since the first episode, “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,” almost exclusively in scenes set at Moe’s Tavern. He’s the drunk who isn’t Sam. Sadly, Larry met his maker in season 35’s “Cremains of the Day.” He died doing what he loved: drinking beer at Moe’s. “I don’t like the sound of that squish,” Carl says after Moe pokes Larry’s corpse with a mop. He’s later described as a “sad, balding drunk who hung out at Moe’s.” RIP. Pour out a 40 of Duff Dry in his honor.

The Simpsons executive producer Tim Long told TMZ that “he’s sorry to those fans upset about the death, and the sad episode in general… but, he says he likes that fans seemed to take it as hard as Homer and the gang did during the episode — because it speaks to how beloved the show still is.”

Larry joins Bleeding Gums Murphy and Dr. Marvin Monroe in the Dead Characters Who Were Never Popular Hall of Fame.

Machine Gun Kelly Doesn’t ‘Want Any Smoke’ With Taylor Swift’s Fan Base As He Refuses To Diss Her

People, generally speaking, like Taylor Swift; The fact that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, just became the first project to accumulate 1 billion Spotify streams in a single week is evidence of that. Pair that with the fact that her Swiftie fan base is a passionate crew and it’s not often that you see people dissing Swift. With that in mind (and also accounting for the fact that he just likes her), Machine Gun Kelly absolutely refused to go after Swift.

This happened on yesterday’s (April 24) episode of Hot Ones Versus, a spin-off of the popular Hot Ones series in which two celebrity guests play a version of truth or dare, in which they have to eat a spicy wing to avoid responding to a potentially difficult question or prompt. MGK was paired up with Trippie Redd, and Redd asked MGK to say three bad things about Swift.

Kelly deadpanned to the camera and declared, “Ladies and gentlemen, you have got to be out of your motherf*cking mind if you think I want any smoke with that fan base. Also, Taylor is a saint and very nice to me, and Travis is my bro.”

Redd jokingly responded, “Kiss her feet while you’re at it,” and MGK replied, “Jesus Christ… I just… bro, she’s very nice! She’s very, very nice.”

The Thunder Obliterated The Pelicans To Take A 2-0 Series Lead

Game 1 of the series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Orleans Pelicans served as Oklahoma City’s return to postseason basketball. On Wednesday night, the Thunder used Game 2 of their first round series to do something else: Emphatically announce to any doubters that they have arrived, and while they’re young, they’re ready to compete for a championship right now.

Oklahoma City ran New Orleans out of the gym in Game 2. Thanks to the latest MVP-caliber effort by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a monster night from Chet Holmgren, the Thunder dominated on both ends of the floor en route to a 124-92 win.

Early on in the game, Oklahoma City made clear that they were not going to mess around. While the opening minutes were tight, the Thunder ended the first on a 17-6 run to take a 13-point lead. Most of the rest of the game was spent with New Orleans trailing by double-figures, as Oklahoma City mixed being scorching hot from the field with a level of defensive intensity that they’ve showed off throughout their ascendant 2023-24 campaign.

Gilgeous-Alexander was his usual brilliant self, as he had a career postseason high 33 points on an efficient 13-for-19 from the field with five assists, three rebounds, and two steals in 35 minutes. He was deputized in a big way by Holmgren, who had 26 points and seven boards while serving as a deterrent at the rim whenever the Pelicans wanted to attack.

No member of Oklahoma City’s starting five scored fewer than 13 points, and as a team, the Thunder shot 46-for-78 (59 percent) from the field and 14-for-29 (48.3 percent) from behind the three-point line. And after the game, a number of players came together as Gilgeous-Alexander gave a postgame interview to Allie LaForce of TNT, with Holmgren grabbing the mic and making clear that the league MVP resides in Oklahoma City.

As for the Pelicans, it was generally a night to forget. Jonas Valanciunas led the way with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones both went for 18 points. The team only connected on seven of its 26 attempts from three.

Game 3 between these two teams will take place on Saturday afternoon in New Orleans, which will mark the first time that the series will move to the Smoothie King Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3:30 p.m. EST on TNT.

Lil Nas X’s SoundCloud Renaissance Continued With ‘Trust Me,’ A Song About Discovering His Sexuality

Lil Nas X seems to be inching closer to the release of Nasarati 2, his follow-up to 2018’s Nasarati.

Lil Nas X takes pride in unconventionality, and so it is unsurprising that he has been releasing songs on SoundCloud as opposed to releasing singles in a traditional manner. On Wednesday night, April 24, he continued the trend by dropping “Trust Me” on SoundCloud. “This song means a lot to me,” Lil Nas X posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.

The first verse finds Lil Nas X transparently recounting the adolescent exploration of his sexuality, including “Grindr sessions.” He raps, “Back in middle school, I was fiending for dick / Seventh grade, sending my homies some pics / Daddy never knew what I did as a kid / He would’ve crucified me but / Trust me, I get it.”

The Grammy-winning provocateur teased a snippet of “Trust Me” within a March 9 Instagram carousel captioned, “been hoarding music for years smh I hate my relationship with fear of my songs not doing well and perception. I wish I could just release music and not give af! Anyways enough venting…what’s you guys top 2 of these snippets??”

“Trust Me” was produced by Ojivolta and Omer Fedi, both of whom produced on Lil Nas X’s 2021 debut studio album Montero.

Previously, Lil Nas X released “Light Again,” “Right There,” and “Lean On My Body” on SoundCloud. Those three are also on Lil Nas X’s YouTube page, but as of this writing, “Trust Me” remains exclusively on SoundCloud. Lil Nas X’s Billboard Hot 100 charter “J Christ” remains his only traditionally released single of 2024.

Listen to “Trust Me” below.
