There are often hypothetical scenarios that people get asked just to see what their answer will be. In most cases, the scenario is something that has a very slim chance of ever happening in real life, but it can be fun to allow your brain to wander. A hypothetical scenario is taking over social media right now and it has women nodding in agreement while many men are left scratching their heads.
Screenshot HQ took to the streets and asked random women if they would rather be stuck in the woods with a man or a bear. Overwhelmingly women chose to take their chances with a bear, some providing the inquirer with a reason as to why they’d chose a bear over a man. Unsurprisingly to most women, the participants saw the bear as the safer option.
Some men had a hard time understanding why women would risk being mauled by a bear, but several men did understand and took to social media to attempt to explain.
Some men seemingly easily knew why women would choose to be in the woods with a bear when their partners asked them the same question but the hypothetical woman was their daughter. In the video, one woman makes her case for choosing a bear.
“Well I’ve heard about bears, they don’t always attack you right unless you f**k with them? So maybe a bear,” she laughs.
Luis Torio responded to the video with an explanation for men who seemed confused by the amount of women choosing a bear. In his video he asks, “why would a woman choose a man over a bear when the number one predator of a woman is a man and not the bear?” He goes on to explain that if a woman is put in the woods with the wrong man, she could be in a much worse situation than with a bear.
Women were asked if they would rather be stuck in a forest with a man or a bear – and their answers are sad #manvsbear
YourTango jumped in on the debate and dropped a few facts with the most staggering being, “the 750,000 black bears in North America unalive less than one person per year on average. Men aged 18-24 are 167 times more likely to unalive someone.” The woman in the video also cites assault statistics for women.
That’s not to say that all men would be dangerous if trapped in the woods with them, commenters and content creators point that out. The concern seems to be more about the predictability of bears verses the predictability of an unknown man.

After winning his Oscar for Oppenheimer, it would not be out of character for Cillian Murphy to retreat back to his native home of Ireland and spend the rest of his year whittling a decorative flute out of a small tree. But, despite his explosive year, he isnât giving up on the highly-anticipated Peaky Blinders movie, which is set to go into production this fall. So at least Murphy will have a nice quiet summer, as opposed to last year.
Creator and writer Steven Knight has confirmed that Murphy is on board with the movie based on the popular drama, which concluded two years ago.
âItâs gonna happen. Itâs gonna happen this September,â Knight told NME of the feature film. âIâm just doing the final polishes, which will continue up until the day before we start shooting. But weâre there. Weâve got everything sorted, weâve got all the commitments we need, we are ready to go,â he added. While the entire cast has not been revealed, Murphy has been ready and willing to return to the Peaky world.
In terms of story, Knight hasnât dropped any plot points, but promises that the team is pulling out all of the stops. âI think the film is gonna be a step up again, and itâs gonna be great that Peaky fans can meet in one place and watch it. The budget will be bigger, but also because we know weâre ending this chapter, weâre all going to try to do our best. Cillian [Murphy] is really up for it. So I canât wait for it to start shooting.â
Even though Murphy is a big-time Oscar winner, Knight revealed that the actor has still maintained excitement to reprise his role of Tom Shelby. âIsnât it amazing? Iâm so pleased for him because he deserves it. After every award that he won, he would text and say, âI really canât wait to be doing Peaky.â Confirming that none of this was going to change what weâre going to do next.â
The first time Eritrean-born, Amsterdam-raised singer RIMON graced my ears was back in 2021 with the release of her second EP I Shine, U Shine. Its six songs present a blend of dancehall, neo-soul, and hip-hop that soothe the ears as much as it adds a pep to your step. âOut Of My Wayâ is a perfect example of that as RIMON issues a warning to a soon-to-be partner moments she begins an endless free-fall into love. Immediately after that record comes âGot My Backâ with Denzel Curry where the two artists play the role of two partners filled with gratitude for the support they give one another.
Three years later, and RIMON has only gotten better. Her latest single âFlowersâ is a towering epic that magnifies her pleas to loved ones as she begs them to accept the well-deserved praise and honor she bestows upon them. Prior to that record, RIMON professed her commitment to a lifelong love on the triumphant âI Choose Uâ with RINI before calling on Kelz2busy to ensure the memories of a past relationship would live on in her mind on the enchanting âCanât Forget.â Itâs these records and others that emphasize RIMONâs graceful approach and determination to soothe the worrying mind, even if itâs her own in some cases.
RIMON is currently hard at work on her debut album, and in the midst of that, the singer found a second to answer our Uproxx Music 20 questions that shed light on her inspirations, influences, and future aspirations.
What is your earliest memory of music?
It has to be me listening and watching the video of âLady Marmaladeâ by Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, MĂœa, Pink, and Lilâ Kim on this tiny television whilst I was living on a boat that temporarily hosted refugees. I was so intrigued by all those badass women.
Who inspired you to take music seriously?
A lot of people. I was considering it, but I thought it would be very difficult. Until SoundCloud and streaming became a thing and the entry to releasing music was way easier than before. Iâd listen to people like Abra, SZA and Jorja Smith before they blew up and seeing women making a career for themselves without huge labels convinced me to also try.
Do you know how to play an instrument? If so, which one? If not, which instrument do you want to learn how to play?
I used to play the piano as a kid, I kinda forgot everything. Except for some basic chords, but I told myself to get back into it and bought a piano to practice. In the pandemic, I tried the guitar, but I donât want to give up on my long nails [laughs].
What was your first job?
I used to deliver the local newspaper in my town when I was 12. That sh*t was so hard, and way too heavy to carry by myself, I donât even know if that sh*t was legal.
What is your most prized possession?
I donât often buy very expensive things, but I think a bag that I got gifted from Louboutin. Itâs fully covered in Swarovski diamonds, I canât even find the price online thatâs how I know itâs expensive.
What is your biggest fear?
Subconsciously it would be losing my mom, but I donât want to give into that fear.
You get 24 hours to yourself to do anything you want, with unlimited resources: What are you doing? And spare no details!
Iâd book a big ass private jet that fits all of my friends and family and fly to a destination that is not too far, letâs say Milano, Italy. Weâd take the morning to go shopping for everyone â clothes, glam, everything. Then weâd head to Lake Como, rent a boat and spend the day on the water, eating, swimming and drinking. From here weâd have dinner near the lake and then take the plane to London to spend the night partying over there and all stay in the same hotel and wake up with a hangover. Good memories and a brand-new wardrobe.
What are your three most used emojis?
.
Whatâs a feature you need to secure before you die?
If you could appear in a future season of a current TV show, which one would it be and why?
I hardly watch TV shows at the moment, but if I could pick a movie it would be Dune 3.
Which celebrity do you admire or respect for their personality and why?
Rihanna! See just seems so fun, a rebel at heart and looks like sheâs always having a good time, but also remaining a bit private, you know? As well as her being the businesswoman that she is and always including her roots, itâs all qualities and things I relate to myself.
Share your opinion on something no one could ever change your mind about.
That astrology is real. Itâs just too accurate, and lots of people think itâs bullshit, but I truly relate to so much of it, in regards to myself but also people around me.
What is the best song youâve ever heard in your life and what do you love about it?
Itâs between âUltralight Beamâ by Kanye West and âYebbaâs Heartbreakâ by Yebba. âUltralight Beamâ is just a spiritual experience packaged in a song, itâs just too good and so powerful with the choir, Chanceâs verse, and the drums. âYebbaâs Heartbreakâ is one of those songs that had me crying so many times. Her vocals, the lyrics, the piano, everything about it is just so beautiful.
Whatâs your favorite city in the world to perform, and whatâs a city youâre excited to perform in for the first time?
I think Paris! Itâs the place Iâve performed the most I think so far, and I just love their crowds, you can tell they really appreciate music. Iâve never performed in New York, so thatâs definitely on my list!
You are throwing a music festival. Give us the dream lineup of 5 artists that will perform with you and the location where it would be held.
RosalĂa, Travis Scott, Tame Impala, Burna Boy and Erykah Badu. This is based on energy and the âliveâ experience. I think it would be somewhere near water. Maybe in the Azores? That would be cool.
What would you be doing now if it werenât for music?
Probably still in the creative industry. Either a creative director, photographer or director.
If you could see five years into the future or go five years into the past, which one would you pick and why?
Definitely the past! Whatâs fun about knowing whatâs ahead of you? Also, Iâm a sentimental and nostalgic person, so Iâd just love to relive some of my best memories.
Whatâs one piece of advice youâd go back in time to give to your 18-year-old self?
Stand your ground more, stop being too nice to people, and have clearer boundaries from the jump.
Itâs 2050. The world hasnât ended, and people are still listening to your music. How would you like it to be remembered?
As something that impacted some part of their lives, even if itâs a small part. That it encouraged them, healed something in them, or helped them feel less alone in their feelings.
As Neil Gaiman die-hards know, The Sandmanâs second season is currently filming, and given the showâs wealth of special effects, itâs unlikely that weâll see episodes materialize until, hmm, maybe mid-2025. The wait will be worth that long and more, but for those who need a Vertigo-imprint fix now, a new Netflix series about ghostly teenage detectives hails from the same universe.
Dead Boy Detectives revolves around characters who surfaced during Season of Mists, which is the fourth graphic novel volume of The Sandman comics. These detectives solve crimes that human souls cannot hope to reconcile, and Gaiman previously explained to Tudum that he only felt it natural for these teenagers to take up the profession: âWho amongst us can honestly say that if we were hanging around the Earth as a ghost we wouldnât want to start a detective agency?â Exactly. Co-creator Steve Steve Yockey has duly added that this series is like âthe Hardy Boys on acid.â He believes that this show is as compelling as The Sandman âbut through a severely cracked lens.â
So, whereâs the connection to The Sandman? The detectivesâ boarding school is awash with the consequences of Luciferâs petty grudge against Dream/Morpheus. The story eventually struck such a chord that Gaiman branched the ghostly duo into their own comic. Via the official series description:
Meet Edwin Payne (Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Revri), âthe brainsâ and âthe brawnâ behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency. Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts⊠who solve mysteries. They will do anything to stick together â including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Nelson) and her friend Niko (Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal realmâs most mystifying paranormal cases.
Could we also (pretty please) have a Death spin off series to match those comic-book miniseries? Nobody could be mad at that.
Dead Boy Detectivesâ first season is streaming now on Netflix.
With every passing year (and every instantly forgotten streaming service action movie), the Lord of the Rings films seem like even more of a miracle. Peter Jacksonâs trilogy â The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Best Picture winner The Return of the King â are rightly hailed as modern classics. And great Christmas movies, even if they have nothing to do with Christmas. Do hobbits even celebrate a Christmas-like holiday? (Thatâs a redundant question: please do not direct me towards the 700 page entry in The History of Middle-earth that gets into the history of holidays in the Shire.)
You can still have your annual winter-time viewing of the battle at Helmâs Deep during the holidays, but this year, Warner Bros. and Fathom Events are re-releasing the trilogy into theaters during the summer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, âthe versions screened will be Jacksonâs extended editions (so you might want get the jumbo tub of popcorn), and also the versions that the filmmaker remastered in 2020 for a 4K Ultra HD rerelease. This is the first time the remastered versions will be in theaters.â
Here are the dates and times:
June 8: The Fellowship of the Ring at 4 p.m. local time
June 9: The Two Towers at 4 p.m. local time
June 10: The Return of the King at 7 p.m. time
Looks like searching Google for âwhen to take a pee break during The Return of the Kingâ is back on the menu, boys.
When blizzards line up to rip through the Northeast, schools close, flights are canceled, and people even board up their houses. Though missions and homeless shelters do what they can to provide safety to those who have no homes to go to, thousands of people still have to weather the cold outside.
At Carnegie Mellon University’s 2015 Impact-a-Thon, students were challenged to provide a temporary low-cost shelter for homeless people during the winter.
One team of students came up with the “Satellite Shelter,” an insulated sleeping bag that converts into a tented structure. The students used mylar, a reflective material frequently used in greenhouses and space blankets, and wool blankets to ensure the shelter would keep anyone in it safe from the cold.
“We wanted to make sure it was super-portable and durable so that it’s easy to carry,” said student Linh Thi Do, who worked on the project. “We have wheels on it so it’s easy to move from place to place.”

Solutions like this one are handy in an emergency. Perhaps, however, other cities should take note of the city of New Orleans’ success in providing long-term housing solutions for its homeless veterans. The only perfect solution to homelessness is giving people permanent homes to go to at night.
You always stole my thunder. You gave them everything they wanted. You never said no when they asked for anything.

A second helping of dessert. Candy before dinner. A few more minutes in the bath. Money for the ice cream truck.
I struggled to show you respect and appreciation while trying to make sure you didn’t spoil my children. I thought you would turn them into âselfish brats” by giving them everything they wanted. I thought they might never learn to wait, to take turns, to share, because you granted their wishes as soon as they opened their mouths and pointed.
You held each one of my babies long after they fell asleep. Didn’t you understand that I needed them to learn to fall asleep on their own?
You ran to them as soon as they made the tiniest sound. How would they ever learn to self-soothe?
I resented you for buying the best and most expensive gifts on their birthdays and on Christmas. How could I possibly compete with you?
“I thought they might never learn to wait, to take turns, to share, because you granted their wishes as soon as they opened their mouths and pointed.”
And how they loved afternoons spent with you. You made their favorite things for dinner â three different meals for three different boys. And you always had a little surprise. A present, candy, or a special treat. I didn’t want them to associate you with gifts and sweets. I thought they should love you for you. I tried to tell you this, but you wouldn’t listen.
I spent a lot of time wondering why you did all these things and how I could get you to ease up. I know grandmothers are supposed to âspoil the kids” then send them home, but you were … ridiculous.
Until you were gone.
I had to hold my boys and tell them that their grandma died. It didn’t seem possible â you were supposed to be there for all the other special moments: proms, graduations, weddings. But they lost their grandma too soon and too suddenly. They were not ready to say goodbye.
During those years when I wished you’d stop spoiling them, I never thought about how much you loved them. So much that you showed it in every way possible. Your cooking. The gifts. The candy and sweets. Your presence. The way you could recount every detail of a special moment, whether it was a perfect catch in the outfield or a sweet and slightly off-key note sung at a school concert. Your grandmotherly love for them knew no bounds. Your heart poured love from every place possible â your kitchen, your pocketbook, your words, and your tireless arms.
It’s pointless to dwell on regrets, but I often think about how I had it all wrong. I was so wrong in how I perceived your generosity.
My kids, now in their teens, miss you dearly. And they don’t miss your gifts or your money. They miss you.
They miss running to greet you at the door and hugging you before you could step in. They miss looking up at the bleachers and seeing you, one of their biggest fans, smiling and enthralled to catch their eye. They miss talking to you and hearing your words of wisdom, encouragement and love.
If I could speak to you one more time, I would tell you that every time a precious moment steals my heart, every time I watch them arrive at a new milestone, and every time they amaze me with their perseverance, talents, or triumphs, I think of you. And I wish that they could have you back.
Come back and love them one last time, like no one else in the world but a grandmother could. Bring your sweets and surprises. Reward them with gifts for the smallest accomplishments. Painstakingly prepare their favorite meals. Take them anywhere they want to go. All and only because you love them.
Come back and see how much they’ve grown. Watch each boy becoming his own version of a young man. Be in awe with me as we admire how family, friendship, time, and love helped them grow so beautifully over the years.
The more I long for you to come back, though, the more I realize that in a way, you never left.
I understand now. I know you loved them in every way you could. I know that being their grandma gave you joy and purpose. And of course I know that you can’t come back, but I do know that your love for them will always remain. Your love built them and sheltered them in ways that cannot be described. Your love is a big part of who they are and what they will become as they grow. For this, and for every treat and gift, and every time you held them too long or consoled them too much or let them stay up too late, I will always thank you.
And I will wish a million times that you could do it all again.

Optical illusions are universally beloved for how they trick our brains and blow our minds. There’s a reason we enjoy magic shows and Escher paintings and are mesmerized by fake oases in the desert. We love seeing things that bend our perceptions of reality, and the science behind the magic always proves fascinating as well.
The Ames window is a pretty well-known optical illusion, but it’s always cool to see. When spun, the angled window appears to oscillate back and forth instead of spin all the way around. But this video adds a twist that makes the effect even more mindbendingâour brains simply can’t process objective reality mixed with an optical illusion.
The YouTube channel Curiosity Show explains the science of the illusion and gives a DIY demonstration for making your own Ames window. But wait until the pen gets taped to the window and spun. This is some real-life magic right here. Mind. Blown.
Kayla Berridge had been walking her normal 9-mile delivery route in Newmarket, a small town in New Hampshire, when she noticed something unusual.
The mail she had been delivering continued to pile up over a matter of days at one residentâs home. The resident was an elderly woman in her 80s, and would occasionally share a chat with Berridge, according to CNN.
Berridge told CNN that after noticing the unattended mail pile, she got âa little concerned.â
âI just had this gut feeling and wanted to make sure,â Berridge told WMUR 9 News, explaining that âmost people put a hold in if theyâre not there, so when people pick up their mail every day, you start to notice their habits.â Not to mention, the womanâs car was still in the driveway.
Berridge followed her instincts and called the local police department for a wellness check, and in the process saved the elderly womanâs life.
CNN reported that officers found the woman trapped on her bedroom floor under heavy artwork and frames. The theory is she tried to use her bed for support, and in the process these items on the bed fell onto her, pinning her down for three full days. Though she was suffering from hypothermia and dehydration, Police Lt. Wayne Stevens confirmed she was stable and recovering.
I can only imagine the agony and fear this poor woman was in, lying in the cold and not knowing if help would come. Luckily, help was on the way, and this story has a happy ending.
In this instance, the familiarity that comes from living in a small town really paid off. âEveryone has each otherâs backs,â Berridge told CNN.
But Officer Stevens wanted to give credit where credit was due. He agreed that Berridgeâs quick thinking was âpart of being a letter carrier in a small town,â he added that her actions were âtaking your job to the next level.â
While wellness or welfare checks have historically been associated with the elderly, they are seen as an equally âcritical toolâ for the safety of many young people as well, especially with the ârise of suicide rates among adolescents and young adults.â
An example of this is when “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson received a wellness check back in 2018. The comedian posted an alarming message to Instagram, saying âI really donât want to be on this Earth anymore. I actually donât know how much longer I can last.â This was after breaking off his engagement with Ariana Grande.
Though it certainly didnât happen in a small town, the interconnectedness of social media helped raise some red flags and prompted authorities to make a visit.
If thereâs anything to make you question someoneâs well-being, itâs better to be safe than sorry.
