Everything To Know About The Opening Of Disney World’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The opening of Disney World‘s new ride is “almost there.”

Walt Disney World announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a reimagining of Splash Mountain, will open to the public in Magic Kingdom on June 28. Based on the 2009 Oscar-nominated animated film The Princess and the Frog, the ride is described as “a musical adventure” through the bayou,” according to Disney. “Along the way, you will see some familiar faces, make new friends, and travel through the bayou into the next chapter of Tiana’s story.” There will be new animatronics and new music, but the thrilling 50-foot drop remains.

Brian Orr, the show systems studio executive of Walt Disney Imagineering, discussed the state-of-the-art animatronics with Disney Parks Blog. “These figures build on our legacy with even more sophistication,” he said. “Looking back at where we’ve been, I am immensely proud of this team who constantly pushes the envelope of creativity to champion us forward beyond imagination. We cannot wait for you to see how Imagineers have built on our history and continue to tell amazing stories through the blending of art and science.”

The gator better be covered in beignet dust, y’know, for accuracy’s sake.

You can learn more about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which open in California’s Disneyland Park later this year, by heading to Disney’s website. And watching the date-announcement video above.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 1?

wolverine
Disney+

X-Men ’97 isn’t the only X-men adjacent adventure we get this year, but the show has been a fun ride for fans of the original series, which first aired in 1992. Yeah, live-action Wolverine is cool, but the animated Wolfy is a little more violent.

There are only 10 episodes in the first season, including the three-part finale. Episode 10, titled “Tolerance is Extinction,” will appear on Disney+ on Wednesday, May 15, at 12:00 a.m. PST/ 3 a.m. EST. Here is the official synopsis: “The X-Men’s dream is put to the test as mutant-human relations reach a tipping point.”

Even though season one is almost done, there’s some good news on the horizon. A special, The Making of X-Men ’97, will drop on Disney+ on May 22 and give fans a behind the scenes look at the revival series.

The series was already renewed for a second and third (!!) season, so we don’t have to wait another 20+ years to rejoin the mutant gang.

Unfortunately, former showrunner Beau DeMayo, who was fired from the gig days before season one began, confirmed that the character of Deadpool was “off-limits,” so we probably won’t get a Ryan Reynolds cameo anytime soon. He has enough fun on his own, anyway.

Check out the finale trailer below:

Over the years, more and more artists have jumped into the music festival game. This week, Aminé joins the likes of Chance The Rapper, Tyler The Creator and J. Cole with The Best Day Ever Festival, coming to his hometown, Portland, Oregon’s Edgefield Lawn on August 10 and 11. Aminé made the announcement in his usual, quirky way, employing a helicopter to announce the lineup in a colorful trailer, which you can watch below.

Naturally, Aminé himself will headline alongside his Kaytraminé collaborator Kaytranada, with a lineup rounded out by avant-garde jazz band BADBADNOTGOOD, breakout Atlanta rap star Karrahbooo, Aminé’s tour DJ MadisonLST, R&B singer Ravyn Lenae, chillwave pioneer Toro y Moi, and Portland rapper 3WayHeff.

Tickets for the festival go on sale beginning on Friday, May 17, at 10 AM PT, at thebestdayeverfest.com.

Aminé

Although Aminé hasn’t put out a new album since 2020’s Limbo, Aminé fans haven’t gone too long without something exciting from the “Caroline” rapper. In 2021, he dropped TwoPointFive, the follow-up to his 2018 mixtape OnePointFive, holding fans over until last year, when he teamed up with Kaytranada to release Kaytraminé. Although Aminé hasn’t announced a new album for 2024, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him do so before his performance at The Best Day Ever Festival.

How often should you shower? Doctors weigh in and rock some people’s worlds.

A few times in recent years, celebrities and social media influencers alike have made waves by sharing that they don’t make their kids bathe every day. For some parents, that was totally par for the course, but for others, letting a child go more than a day without bathing was seen as a travesty.

Doctors have made it clear that kids don’t need to bathe daily, with some going so far as to recommend against it when they are young to protect kids’ delicate skin.

But what about grownups? Most of us don’t take baths regularly as adults, but what’s the ideal frequency for showering?

According to a YouGov poll of over 5,700 Americans, just over half of respondents said they shower daily and 11% said they shower twice or more per day. That means two out of three of us are showering at least once a day.

But according to doctors and dermatologists, that’s probably overkill for most people. Unless you’re doing heavy labor, exercising vigorously, working outdoors or around toxins or otherwise getting excessively dirty or sweaty, a few showers per week is enough for healthy hygiene.

In fact, Robert H. Shmerling, MD of Harvard Health says too frequent showering could actually have some negative effects on your health.

“Normal, healthy skin maintains a layer of oil and a balance of ‘good’ bacteria and other microorganisms,” Dr. Shmerling writes. “Washing and scrubbing removes these, especially if the water is hot.” He shares that removing that protective layer can make our skin dry, irritated or itchy, which can lead to damage that allows allergens and bacteria to cross the skin barrier. Additionally, our immune systems require exposure to microorganisms, dirt, and other environmental stimuli in order to create “immune memory,” and if we wash them away too frequently, we might be inhibiting the effectiveness of our immune system.

Dermatologists who spoke to Vogue had similar advice about shower frequency. Board-certified dermatologist Deanne Robinson, MD, FAAD told the magazine that you can skip showering for the day if you haven’t engaged in rigorous activity. Mamina Turegano, a triple board-certified dermatologist, internist and dermatopathologist. agreed. “I think that showering three to four times a week is plenty for most people,” she said.

Of course, everyone is different and what is good for one person’s skin isn’t good for another’s. Showering frequency and health also depend on what kinds of products you’re using, what temperature of water you’re using and how long your shower is. There’s a big difference between a quick pits-and-privates rinse-off and a long, hot shower.

While scorching yourself and steaming up the bathroom may feel luxurious and relaxing, especially if you’ve got sore muscles, dermatologists say it’s not good for your skin. Hot showers are especially problematic for people with skin issues like eczema.

“Any skin condition characterized by a defective skin barrier can be worsened by a hot shower,” board-certified New York City dermatologist Shari Marchbein told Allure. “[It] strips the skin of sebum, the healthy fats and oils necessary for skin health, and dehydrates the skin.”

In fact most dermatologists recommend keeping showers lukewarm. That sounds like torture, frankly, but who’s going to argue with the experts?

A lot of people, actually. Modern humans are pretty particular about our shower preferences, and judging from the comments on cleanliness discussions, some folks are dead set on the idea that a daily shower is simply not negotiable. Even with the experts weighing in with their knowledge and science, a lot of people will continue to do what they do, advice be damned.

But at least the folks who’ve been judged harshly by the daily shower police have some official backup. As long as you’re showering every couple of days, you’re golden. As it turns out, there really is such a thing as being too clean.

Kendrick Lamar Scores His Fourth ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 No. 1 With ‘Not Like Us’

Kendrick Lamar
Getty Image

Kendrick Lamar’s vicious Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” debuts at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. The battle between the two stars spawned no fewer than four new diss tracks in the span of a weekend, including “6:16 AM In LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and “The Heart Part 6,” but the Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” turned out to be the true fan favorite, soundtracking a slew of social media posts of clubs turning up and people C-walking to it (which… sigh).

As the dust settles from the two rappers’ increasingly vitriolic battle, its component songs comprise much of this week’s Billboard Hot 100 top ten. “Euphoria,” Kendrick’s initial volley in the fiery war of words, lands at No. 3, while “Like That,” the warning shot Kendrick issued by Kendrick on Future and Metro Boomin’s album, rose from No. 8 to No. 6. Drake’s “Family Matters” debuts at No. 7. You can see the full top ten below.

“Not Like Us” is now Kendrick Lamar’s fourth Hot 100 No. 1. His most recent foray to the top of the chart was a month ago with “Like That,” while his previous chart toppers were 2017’s “Humble” from DAMN. and his 2015 collaboration with Taylor Swift, “Bad Blood.” The full chart for this week goes online Tuesday, May 14.

Why Does Marvel Keep Changing The Title Of One Of Its Most Anticipated Shows?

Agatha Kathryn Hahn Disney+ Series
Marvel

Kathryn Hahn is pretty good at showing up in someone else’s show and overshadowing them, which is why she is long overdue for her own series. The actress is set to lead the upcoming Marvel series Agatha, based on her character from 2021’s WandaVision series. But the jury is still out on what the series is actually called.

A WandaVision spinoff, focused on the dark witch Agatha Harkness, was announced in November 2021. Filming wrapped last spring and the series is expected to drop later this year, and now it seems like Marvel is messing with fans by announcing various different iterations of the name. Sounds exactly like something a witch would do.

Since being announced, the series has gone by multiple names, including House of Harkness, Coven of Chaos, and Darkhold Diaries.

Earlier this week, Marvel posted (then deleted) another new title, this time called Agatha: The Lying Witch With Great Wardrobe as a nod to the Chronicles of Narnia franchise:

Each title also seems to reference another piece of Hollywood history:

While it’s a little unclear at the moment, fans seem to think that the subtitles are referring to different episode names in the series. WandaVision carefully incorporated early TV tropes throughout the season, so Agatha seems to be doing the same, perhaps on a somewhat larger scale. There is no chance this is just a coincidence.

Agatha stars Hahn, alongside Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone
Sasheer Zamata, and Debra Jo Rupp. Expect a title like That Agatha Show to be announced any day now.

Trae Young And The Hawks Will Have ‘Real Conversations’ About His Future If He Doesn’t Feel Like They’re Constructing A Winner

trae young

The Atlanta Hawks did not expect to leave with the No. 1 overall pick when they arrived at Sunday’s NBA Draft Lottery, but after the ping pong balls bounced just right, they emerged with an awful lot more to think about as a franchise this summer.

Atlanta was already expected to be among the league’s most active teams in trade discussions this offseason, as it has become clear the Trae Young and Dejounte Murray backcourt pairing has run its course. With De’Andre Hunter a trade rumor staple as well, the Hawks were expected to shop around the league to figure out what direction they want to go in — with Jalen Johnson as the firmest cornerstone piece on the roster. Murray was shopped continuously going into last season and at the deadline, but the Hawks kept him on the team and he thrived with Young out with an injury down the stretch.

That brought Young’s future with the team into question, with rumblings beginning in the second half of the year that he might be available as well. With Atlanta landing the No. 1 overall pick, that only furthered those rumors, with Shams Charania noting on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back that Young would be in conversation with the Hawks over the coming weeks and, if he feels they’re not looking to build an immediate contender, he could ask for a change of scenery.

“If Trae Young doesn’t feel like the Hawks are constructing a winner, a team that really has a chance in the Eastern Conference. You see teams like New York, Indiana making runs to the conference finals, Trae Young surely feels like he and the Hawks should be in that position. They’re going to have real conversations if he believes they are not trying to construct a real winner around him. And that dialogue, those talks are going to happen this week at the Combine, next week, and the weeks to come before the NBA Draft. Clearly that pairing between Trae Young and Dejounte Murray has not worked. They’ve already looked into moving Dejounte Murray, they kept him at the trade deadline. Which guard do they end up looking down that path? I think that’s going to be the big question for the Hawks leading up to the Draft.”

All of this sets up for a fascinating offseason in Atlanta, as they certainly have the opportunity to hit the reset button now that they have the top overall pick in the Draft — even if it lacks clear star power at the top. While Young is only 25, he’s seen plenty of his contemporaries become cornerstones of perennial playoff contenders. He made one run to the conference finals but has had to try and emerge from the Play-In each of the last three years. If the Hawks think their best bet as a franchise is to reset their clock around Johnson and the No. 1 pick, it could be Young, not Murray, that gets shopped around as a very intriguing player on the trade market.

‘Family Guy’ Won’t Air The Same Night As ‘The Simpsons’ For The First Time In Nearly 20 Years

the simpsons family guy
fox

What do [takes a deep breath] The War at Home, American Dad, The Winner, King of the Hill, The Cleveland Show, Bob’s Burgers, Allen Gregory, Napoleon Dynamite, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, Son of Zorn, Making History, Ghosted, Bless the Harts, Duncanville, and The Great North have in common? All of those shows, many of which have been long forgotten, aired in the 8:30 p.m. EST timeslot between The Simpsons at 8 p.m. and Family Guy at 9 p.m. (or in recent years, 9:30 p.m.).

Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin have been Sunday night fixtures on Fox for nearly 20 years, but that streak is about to end. The Simpsons isn’t going anywhere (it never will), but Family Guy has been shuffled to Wednesday night with a midseason debut scheduled for 2025.

For the first time since Family Guy was brought back from cancellation by Fox 19 years ago, Seth MacFarlane’s animated hit, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary, won’t be on the network’s fall schedule. It is one of eight new and returning scripted series held for midseason — including Animal Control, The Cleaning Lady, and Alert — which is as many as there are on Fox’s fall schedule. The network likely is plotting a major midseason rollout using its Super Bowl broadcast as a promotional platform.

Family Guy is still popular, especially on social media. So why the change?

“We talk a lot about looking at the schedule in a more modern way and rather than looking simply at the traditional time slots of shows, we look at our entire portfolio,” Fox CEO Rob Wade explained, according to Deadline. “We also think [about] Hulu and how it would work best for them. Scheduling has changed significantly over the years and we approach it in a different way now.”

People are still watching Family Guy on broadcast (although, like with every show, not as much as they used to), so the thinking from Fox appears to be using the show as a building block for another night of the week.

At least Family Guy can lampoon the new timeslot: “You think that’s bad? At least you didn’t get moved from Sunday to Wednesday [cut-away joke to Brian Griffin hitting on Jenna Ortega].”

21 Savage Refused To Take Sides In Drake And Metro Boomin’s Beef And Thinks They’ll ‘Figure It Out Eventually’

Poor 21 Savage. Caught in the middle of the beef between two of his closest collaborators, Drake and Metro Boomin, the rising Atlanta trap star expressed his hope for peace. During an Instagram Live session with fans while on his American Dream Tour, 21 shared his thoughts on the simmering tension between his two friends and his optimism for the future (no pun intended).

“Don’t keep coming on to my motherf*cking Live talking about no motherf*cking beef,” he told his fans. “Metro my brother and Drake my brother. Those n****s going to figure that sh*t out eventually.”

Fans first sensed that Drake and Metro might be on shaky terms late last year, after Metro voiced his frustrations with the reception of Drake and Savage’s collaborative album in comparison to his own on year-end lists. “Her Loss still keeps winning rap album of the year over [Heroes & Villains],” he wrote. “Proof that awards shows are just politics and not for me.”

Drake needled the producer a couple of times after that, but the tension broke into open warfare with the release of the Future & Metro Boomin album, We Don’t Trust You, which contained an incendiary verse from Kendrick Lamar and kicked off Drake and Kendrick’s increasingly vitriolic back-and-forth.

A splinter conflict between Drake and Metro emerged as a result of Drake’s “Push Ups” taunt for Metro to “shut the f*ck up and make some drums,” resulting in Metro crafting the “BBL Drizzy” instrumental. For all the ruckus, though, Drake appears to have thrown in the towel on his beef with Kendrick, which could mean an end to his similar one with Metro — although fans are still having a field day with the “BBL Drizzy” memes.
