Earlier this week, Uproxx recapped the best surprise performances from Weekend 1 of Coachella 2024. Grimes took the stage at Sahara on Saturday, April 13, and her set was also full of surprises — just not in a good way.

What Happened During Grimes’ Coachella 2024 Set?

According to Variety‘s Jem Aswad, nothing was amiss during the first half of Grimes’ set, but “things began breaking down during the second.” Aswad relayed, “She tried explaining the problems had to do with the programming of the tracks on her mixing desk, but her frustration was evident and she shouted and shrieked into the mic as things broke down several times. But by even the most charitable metric, it was a disaster.”

Early Sunday morning, April 14, Grimes posted an extremely long explanation of her “technical issues” on X (formerly Twitter), as seen below:

“I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight. I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm’s and letting someone else organize the tracks on the sd card etc.

I had a bad feeling beforehand not having run everything thru the cdjs myself and tho I flagged it I wasn’t insistent. the big lesson for me was a mix of 1 if u want it done right, do it yrself 2 be a c*nt even if ppl feel bad 3 probably pretend it’s fine and engage w the crowd rather than spend a whole show slumped over the desk trying to fix software when ur meant to be entertaining.

I will personally organize all the files next week. I will not let such a thing happen again.

I’ve spent months on this show, making music and visuals, and admittedly am not in the best mood atm

But, yeh – next week will be flawless, everything will run thru my hands. Some good lessons learned. Bless y’all. The cdjs were showing me bpms like 370 so I couldn’t even mix manually by ear and the front monitors were off so it was literally sonic chaos on my end trying to guess how stuff was sounding for u guys

As Grimes said, there will be a chance at redemption at Coachella 2024 Weekend 2. Coachella revealed the full schedule of set times, and Grimes will be in the same slot: 7:10 p.m. PST at Sahara.

Tate McRae made headlines for being in Dublin, Ireland to support The Kid Laroi, who referred to her as his “girlfriend” during his The First Time Tour show on Sunday, April 14. But it’s also a business trip for McRae: Her Think Later World Tour kicked off on Wednesday, April 17, at 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin.

McRae released Think Later, her sophomore studio album, in December. So, of course, the bulk of McRae’s Think Later World Tour setlist (as chronicled on setlist.fm) is taken from the album’s tracklist, including “Greedy,” which is far and away the biggest hit of McRae’s career — peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January.

Although Taylor Swift is slated to drop The Tortured Poets Department later tonight, yesterday evening, a leak of the record appeared to make the rounds online — causing the internet to go into a frenzy.

Specifically, the lines “You smoked then ate seven bars of chocolate / We declared Charlie Puth / Should be a bigger artist / I scratch your head, you fall asleep / Like a tattooed Golden Retriever,” which are reportedly from the title track, raised speculation that it was actually about Matty Healy. (Upon the album’s initial announcement, many had figured it would center around her breakup with Joe Alwyn.)

Here’s what else is making listeners think this, at least from the suspected leak.

Later in the same song, Swift apparently namedrops both Lucy Dacus and Jack Antonoff as those that she and Healy had told about their relationship. She points out that The 1975 lead singer left his typewriter at her house.

Others on Twitter have hinted that this also might not be the only Healy-themed track on the new album, as there are a lot more than listeners initially thought there would be.

Shortly after Swift’s split from Alwyn, she was spotted out with Healy during May 2023. However, the two were reportedly over by June. Since then, Swift has been dating football player Travis Kelce for a few months.

GloRilla’s recent arrest for driving under the influence might have some fans worried about her future on “Wanna Be” collaborator Megan Thee Stallion’s upcoming tour, but there is one person who seemed delighted by the news. Kay’La Lillard, NBA star Damian Lillard’s ex-wife, joked about the arrest on Instagram, posting a report from The Shade Room into her Instagram Story, and including the caption “Free GloLillard.” She also threw in the hashtag, “#sisterwife.”

Her jokes stem from the recent NBA All-Star Game this past February, where Glo got a few photos with Dame. She later posted them on her Twitter page (I am never going to call it “X,” not sorry), taking the opportunity to shoot her own shot. ““Who n**** dis is?” she wrote. “Cause I want him #GetEmGlo.” In a later tweet, she trolled, ““Whoever she is can’t whoop me so I really dgaf.” While Dame and Kay’La filed for divorce in October 2023, just after Dame was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, it seems she didn’t appreciate Glo’s comments — or like most people, just found them hilarious.

Meanwhile, when Shannon Sharpe asked Glo if anything happened between her and Damian on his show Club Shay Shay, she played coy. “The halfcourt shot?” she mused, falling back on her now-infamous catchphrase. “You know, at the end of the day, the day gon’ end.”

Killing Eve viewers might be scratching their heads over Internet speculation about a fifth season. What gives?

The cat-and-mouse spy-thriller series originally ran on BBC America and simulcast to AMC. The first few seasons qualified as certifiable bangers, and as shows sometimes do, the gimmick ran its course. Still, the series did rally towards the end of its fourth season, and we heard about an an in-the-works spinoff about a younger version of messy MI6 officer Carolyn Martens, but then something strange happened in 2022: that series finale.

Let’s just say that comparisons to the Game of Thrones finale were afoot. That’s not ideal, and it was kind-of deflating to see the show allow Eve and Villanelle to reach a state of legit happiness together, only for Villanelle to suddenly be killed via a sniper shot.

This development should lead to the natural conclusion that producers and writers intended to put a definitive end to the series, given that — let’s face it — the Villanelle-Eve relationship was the glue that held everything together. You can’t really kill off Jodie Comer’s irresistible assassin and expect Sandra Oh’s character to be consequently driven onto a collision course with a greater purpose or bound for vengeance. It’s simply not that type of story. However and as noted already, there has been some speculation that the story could continue, and there’s a semi-logical reason for this…

Killing Eve landed on Netflix this week. Netflix tends to resurrect shows that gain new life on the streaming service. That includes Manifest and, in a way, Suits, since the Meghan Markle Show Of Yesteryear will now spin off into an LA-based offshoot on NBC. So, is it possible that this would (somehow) happen for Killing Eve?

At this time, there has been zero concrete inkling or confirmation from Netflix on the subject. Yet we can always dream of a world where Villanelle (and even Konstantin) did not die, and they go on a long road trip together with Eve, who is driving and has had about enough of their backseat gigglefests. Admit it, that might be worth watching, but for now, it’s not happening.

Stephen Colbert had some strong words for Donald Trump after the former president attacked Jimmy Kimmel earlier this week and oddly confused him for… Al Pacino? For who knows what reason, Trump decided to rant about Kimmel’s performance as this year’s Oscar host, and Colbert was not having it.

“You keep my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s name out of your weird little wet mouth, OK?” Colbert warned Trump. “I’m mad. Jimmy Kimmel is my podcast brother from Strike Force Five. And I have vowed to defend him until my death or until the next ad for Mint Mobile.”

Of course, Colbert couldn’t resist taking his own jab at the Oscars.

“For the record, sir, Jimmy did an incredible job as host,” Colbert said. “Oscar viewership was up four percent. That’s right. This year, four more people watched.”

The late night host then took aim at Trump’s grasp of the real issues facing Americans.

“That’s right, in the middle of a presidential campaign and countless federal indictments, he’s obsessed with the Academy Awards from five weeks ago,” Colbert quipped before presenting Trump with a special award.

“In the category of Outstanding Achievement in Syphilitic Ramble in a Social Media Post, the winner is… whale!” Colbert said while holding up a card with a drawing of a whale, a deep cut reference to Trump bragging about how great he is at taking cognitive tests. He sure knows his animals.

Of course, Kimmel didn’t take Trump’s Social Media rant lying down. He devoted a portion of his Wednesday night monologue to roasting Trump for somehow confusing him with Pacino.

“Now don’t get me wrong, I wish I was Al Pacino,” Kimmel quipped. “He’s Al Pacino, I’m me. You’d think [Trump would] know that because I’m pretty sure, ‘Say hello to my little friend’ is what he said to Stormy Daniels that got him in all this trouble.”

Netflix‘s latest buzzy reality show is Unlocked: A Jail Experiment, which follows a very real experiment in the Pulaski County Regional Detention Center.

The series, which dropped last week, chronicles what happens when a group of detainees is given more freedom to work towards being a community. In order to do so, the deputies are taken away and the detainees are given more freedom inside their own “pod.” They had six weeks to see how the experiment played out.

The idea came from Arkansas sheriff Eric Higgins, who wants to aim for a more community-oriented structure for incarcerated people. Higgins also confirmed that at any given time, they had the option to leave the experiment, and they always knew that production were following them.

Higgins told Tudum, “Pulaski County Regional Detention center is a direct supervision facility, which means the deputies are inside the unit with detainees. We thought, ‘What can we do to create some ownership for those detainees in that unit?” Higgins says. “How do we make the facility safer, and what can we do to still hold them accountable but empower them at the same time?’”

While the show might seem controversial, Higgins hopes the series will change the way we view incarcerated people. “In this country, we have a certain perception of someone who goes to jail — the assumption being that they’re guilty,” Higgins says. “But they deserve dignity. These individuals, they’re fathers, they’re uncles, they’re sons. People care about them… they’re not just a number. I believe that if you treat people right, and you hold them accountable… I think they take that with them when they walk out of this facility. I think we have proven that people will rise to the expectation.”

Only two months ago, Taylor Swift announced her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, during her acceptance speech for the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2022 album Midnights. Her eleventh studio album — which will feature appearances from Florence And The Machine and Post Malone and is produced by longtime collaborators Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner — arrives after a monster 2023 that saw the singer-songwriter release two re-recorded albums and a tour film. The question on many a Swiftie’s mind right now, though, is:

When will The Tortured Poets Department be available to stream on Apple Music?

With a release date of April 19, the album should be hitting DSPs like Apple, Spotify, and Tidal in a little over 12 hours as of this writing. Most albums that drop on New Music Friday are usually available to stream at midnight, Eastern Time (or 9 PM Pacific) to allow for the maximum number of streams.

If physical media is more your thing, though, The Tortured Poets Department will also be released in a variety of limited-edition vinyl, as well as cassette tapes and CDs. With the album just hours away from release, it doesn’t seem Taylor-Mania is going away anytime soon.

It turns out that Eminem‘s memorable “Stan” music video reportedly almost had a different lead actor.

Devon Sawa, who starred in it, did a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight where he revealed that directors Dr. Dre and Philip Atwell were aiming for another child star — but it didn’t work out.

“Full disclosure: they went out to Macaulay Culkin first, I believe,” Sawa said. “I think that they wanted him, and he wasn’t available, or didn’t want to do it or whatever.”

“Then Dre, who had just seen Final Destination and was a fan, suggested [me],” he added. “There happened to be somebody in the casting office that knew somebody who was friends with me, and they called me that way… and it ended up working out pretty good.”

Looking back on it, it seems wild to picture the Home Alone star playing a character that idolized and imitated Eminem in 2000. However, when Entertainment Tonight reached out to Culkin and Eminem’s representatives, they didn’t return a comment to confirm.

Although the part could’ve gone to someone else, Sawa did point out just how lucky he still feels to have been selected. “It’s also one of the proudest things I’ve been a part of,” he shared. “I’ll tell you one thing, I know it better now than I did that day. Because I’ve heard it millions of times since.”
