Megan Thee Stallion Is Putting Her ‘Best Ass On Instagram’ Title On The Line With An Open Twerk Challenge

Megan Thee Stallion isn’t phrased by Instagram’s stern warning over posting NSFW content. To prove how unfazed she is, Meg has put her “best ass on Instagram” title on the line for an open twerk challenge.

Yesterday (April 6), the entertainer took to her official page to announce the competition. “IG after dark LOL,” she wrote. “And nobody better not challenge me because this the best ass on Instagram 🤪. Or, if you think so, tag me in your video 😂. Stream ‘Wanna Be.’”

So far, only two brave souls have come forward to battle it out. The first submission came from Baddies producer Natalie Nunn. Users online didn’t quite feel that attempt.

But the fitness model Scotty’s clip has users online ready to crown a winner.

“I’m afraid she already won.”

Now, Meg’s followers are attempting to tag others into the challenge. The names thrown around so far include SZA and Uproxx cover star Chlöe. However, the “FYS” singer laughed off supporters request. “I’m afraid she already won 😭,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The only person who could potentially compete with Meg is her “Wap” collaborator, Cardi B. This could motivate Cardi to redeem herself from the last zero-rated twerk video she released.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Dawn Staley Thanked Caitlin Clark For ‘Lifting Up Our Sport’ And Proclaimed Her ‘One Of The GOATs’

dawn staley
ABC

Dawn Staley cemented her place among the all-time great women’s college basketball coaches on Sunday, winning her third national championship as South Carolina’s head coach as the Gamecocks finished off a perfect season with an 87-75 win over Iowa.

It was a thrilling game that saw Caitlin Clark go supernova early with 18 points in the first quarter, but after that the Gamecocks locked in on the star, keeping her to 12 points the rest of the way. Raven Johnson led the way as the primary defender on Clark, with the rest of the South Carolina defense providing help, and with Iowa struggling to knock down threes around their star (and struggling on the glass on the other end), the Hawkeyes just couldn’t keep up.

For Staley, this win might’ve been the sweetest, as it came in a year where most expected the Gamecocks to take a step back. They saw Aliyah Boston go to the WNBA as the No. 1 overall pick and win Rookie of the Year, along with Zia Cooke and most of the rest of their starting five that lost to Iowa in the Final Four a year ago. This year’s team lacked that same level of star power, but made up for it with depth and an incredibly unselfish style that was the product of buy-in to what Staley was asking of them.

After the game, Staley was extremely emotional, letting it out in an incredible scene surrounded by her players celebrating.

Once on the stage to receive the national championship trophy, Staley wanted to take a moment to shout out Clark, giving Iowa’s star her flowers, calling her one of the GOATs, and offering an appreciation of what Clark did in shouldering a heavy burden as the face of women’s college basketball, bringing so much attention to the sport and handling it as well as she did.

It’s a very cool thing for Staley to do in that moment, and it was something Clark didn’t take for granted when asked about it after the game.

Clark has certainly raised the profile of women’s college basketball, and as Staley notes, she’ll continue to do so at the WNBA level when she gets drafted in just over a week’s time. Clark returned the favor, noting what Staley has done for the game as a coach and player, and you could tell it really did mean a lot to her to get that kind of affirmation from a true legend of the sport.

Staley’s resume is impenetrable, with three Olympic gold medals as a player, one as a coach, six WNBA All-Star teams as a player, and now three national titles as a coach (and counting). To get that kind of praise from her is certainly a big deal, and it’s another reminder of how Staley is one of the great ambassadors for the game, along with being an incredible coach, knowing how important it is to lift up the next generation, even when they play for the other team.

South Carolina Finished Off A Perfect Season By Taking Down Iowa In The National Title Game

tessa johnson

After a thrilling tournament, the women’s national championship game saw the two teams that dominated headlines all year meet in Cleveland, as Iowa and South Carolina went head-to-head with a title on the line.

It was Iowa that came out and landed the first punch, jumping out to a quick 20-9 lead thanks to an offensive onslaught led by Caitlin Clark, who had 18 first quarter points — including some deep threes — to help the Gamecocks take a 27-20 advantage after the first 10 minutes.

It didn’t take long for South Carolina to get right back into the game, as they rattled off a 7-0 run to open the second quarter to tie the game. The Gamecocks dominated the offensive glass, as Iowa struggled with their size inside, headlined by Kamilla Cardoso who had 11 points and 7 rebounds (4 offensive) in the first half. Along with their size, South Carolina’s depth proved to be crucial, as they got a big boost from MiLaysia Fulwiley and Tessa Johnson off the bench to briefly grab their first lead of the game.

From there, Te-Hina Paopao heated up, knocking down a trio of threes including one in the final minute that gave the Gamecocks a one-point lead, which got stretched to three at the half thanks to a Raven Johnson steal and score off of Clark.

As they often have this tournament run, South Carolina came out of the locker room at halftime on a mission, scoring six quick points to open up a nine point lead and force an Iowa timeout. Iowa would claw back to within two, but the Gamecocks had another response ready, as Tessa Johnson and Bree Hall got it rolling from three to push the lead up to a game-high 11 with just over a minute to go in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, the South Carolina lead grew to as many as 13 and it looked like Iowa might just not have enough juice to get back into the game. But Clark started creating some space for her shot and Gabbie Marshall hit a timely three to help cut the deficit to six midway through the final period.

Iowa would get to as close as within five, but could never fully reel in the Gamecocks. Offensively, they just couldn’t create enough good looks against the swarming length of South Carolina’s defense, and on the other end of the floor, a familiar story emerged as Cardoso got a huge putback bucket to effectively ice the game.

The Gamecocks ultimately pulled away to an 87-75 win, as they held Iowa scoreless for nearly four minutes in the closing stretch of the game. It was a tremendous effort from their entire group, a fitting end to a season where they lacked the kind of star power that has defined South Carolina teams in the past, but made up for it with incredible depth and a desire to play unselfish ball. Tessa Johnson finished as the leading scorer with 19 points off of the bench, while Cardoso had 15 points and 17 boards, and Paopao added 14 points of her own.

For Iowa, Clark finished with 30 points (10-of-28 shooting), eight rebounds, and six assists, as her illustrious career came to a bittersweet end in a loss. Kate Martin added 16 points for the Hawkeyes, but they just did not shoot well enough as a team (39.7 percent from the field) to overcome getting out-rebounded 51-29 by South Carolina. The Gamecocks also shot the ball extremely well (47.9 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from three), polishing off a perfect season in style and giving Dawn Staley her third national championship as a head coach.

Yung Miami Was Reportedly Served With Trademark Infringement Paperwork Over The Rapper’s ‘Act Bad’ Merch

City Girls’ Yung Miami can’t seem to catch a break.

Lil Rod’s scandalous allegations against Diddy pulled the “Face Down” rapper’s name into the mountain of legal paperwork. Although she had continued to distance herself from her former beau, even denying claims of being a sex worker and allegedly transporting drugs at his behest. Somehow, Yung Miami still found herself at the center of another brewing legal matter.

Yesterday (April 6), Yung Miami was served with trademark infringement paperwork over her reported ‘Act Bad’ merchandise. A gentleman named Larry Taylor showed up at the rapper’s Houston, Texas, booking to give her a copy of the lawsuit.

In the now-viral video uploaded to his Instagram, Taylor explained that he was working on behalf of the alleged trademark owner, Charlie Cee (real name Charles Kenyatta Jr). Kenyatta, who owns Act Bad Entertainment, believes Yung Miami’s items conflicted with his company’s branding and overall likeness.

Yung Miami took to X (formerly Twitter) to refute the allegations. During an exchange with a user online, Yung Miami claimed that she never profited from the line.

In May 2023, as a member of City Girls, Yung Miami helped to popularize the phrase following the release of their collaborative song with Diddy and Fabolous.

How Moxy Miami Is Serving Up Pop-Art Vibes With A Celestial Twist

Moxy Miami Header
UPROXX

When you travel as much as the Uproxx family, you start to feel like a pro when it comes to the act of booking accommodations. We know how to pick the best AirBnB from the bunch. We’ve got clear criteria for chic resorts that won’t be overrun with sugared-up kids and exhausted parents. We definitely know the luxury brands we love. We even gave them their own special column, Hotels We Love.

Point being, we’ve got our stay n’ play game down! And we still get legit excited when something new comes across our radar and makes us perk up.

I recently took a quick jaunt down to Miami to follow the sun and beat the winter blues. To my delight, the Moxy Miami South Beach presented a fresh flavor that felt new and intriguing to my travel-seasoned palate. With a sense of irreverent flare that walks a fine line between playful and posh, they’ve got a formula that felt just on the edge unfamiliar but thoroughly inviting. Here’s what hooked me hardest:

BOLD DECOR

Moxy Miami Beach
Moxy Miami Beach

So what exactly makes the Moxy Miami South Beach live up to its name as if Sinatra were saying it?

First, the aesthetic is about as bold as you can go without becoming brash. It’s not a stretch to say that the decor could have easily been put together by Hunter S. Thompson in a peak altered state. Clean and unassuming from the outside, as soon as you walk in the door you’re hit with a wave of vibrant color.

Surrealist murals line the lobby and smartly contrast the sleek mirrored glass bar anchored in the center of the space. When I visit a hotel, I love not having to ask where to get our cocktails upon arrival, Frank and Hunter would agree.

FLOW

Moxy Miami Beach
Moxy Miami Beach

More than just flare, the Moxy Miami has flow. The lobby opens to a beautiful atrium where you can step out to sip your evening cocktail or enjoy your morning juice and breakfast burrito from the tienda. From the atrium, you can proceed up a staircase to the 2nd floor restaurant Serena which takes a much more refined approach which we appreciated for dinner.

Both Serena’s food and beverage menus lean LatinX with plenty of options to delight from the spiciest taste buds to the more subdued not looking to pile on the feugo. Oh, and keeping with the requisite pinch of random, we’ll note that the guacamole and plantain chips appetizer is portioned to be a meal unto itself. No skimping detected here.

Moxy Miami Beach

Not hungry? The same staircase will wrap you around to the pool which you can count on being full of floaties and eye other eye candy catching a little sun in their ample rows of lounge chairs and cabanas. Not in the mood for a dip? Step just past the pool and you’ll find yourself in their fitness center which is stocked enough for even the hardcore gym bros to not scoff.

THE ROOMS THEMSELVES

Moxy Miami Beach
Moxy Miami Beach

The meat and potatoes of any good hotel. I stayed in a corner king suite which was just as flavorful as the lobby. Jungle leaf wallpaper lined the entry to the living room with a neon sign that read “Mañana, Mañana, Mañana” – a mantra reminding me to relax and just enjoy the moment.

Not to overdo it, the wallpaper stops short and the rest of the room keeps it clean and white. A portrait of Jean Michel Basquiat hung over the bed and proved a refreshingly on-point pop-alternative to so much of the hotel art we’ve all become used to.

THE INTANGIBLES

Moxy Miami Beach
Moxy Miami Beach

Made for the stay with an emphasis on play, the Moxy offers several floor plans designed for the group of friends who aren’t in town to stay cooped up in the room. Yes, they offer the standard king and double queen options, but the Moxy Miami also has a quad-bunk bed layout for those dedicated to squad life. We were intrigued enough to ask and although the bunk option isn’t available at all Moxy locations, you and your pack can shack up tight and save a few bucks to offset your bar tab at many of their global properties.

So where to next? I stated earlier that I followed the sun down to Miami but the Moxy brand has just launched a partnership with the Sanctuary astrology app that’s meant to encourage travelers to literally follow their stars and discover new locations based on their signs. They held a launch party for the partnership while I was in town and I got an astro-cartography reading that gave some insight and recommendations for where I might find auspicious energies awaiting in my upcoming travels.

The main bar served up a well-rounded offering of zodiac-inspired cocktails and they even had a crystal bar where I grabbed a few rocks for my pockets to balance the ones in my drink. The evening’s offerings were equal parts playful and thoughtful, just like the rest of the Moxy experience. The Uproxx crew loves a little “woo-woo” with our “where to?” and Moxy nailed that in style.

Moxy Miami Beach
Moxy Miami Beach

Check out the Moxy website and book here. Rooms start at $350 per night for a standard King and hike up to $750 for a Suite. Bunk rooms fall somewhere in the middle but make for a great way to split the tab as a team. No matter what room you choose, our crystal ball predicts a whole lot of winning.

We Ranked The Crispiest No-Frills American Pilsners

Sixpoint/Oskar Blues/Victory/Deschutes/istock/Uproxx
Sixpoint/Oskar Blues/Victory/Deschutes/istock/Uproxx

When it comes to sessionable, no-frills lagers, you’re likely to hear a few descriptive words repeatedly. These include “crushable”, “thirst-quenching”, “dry”, and most importantly “crisp.” For us, the latter descriptor is most important. When warm weather hits, we’re looking for the epitome of crisp when we crack open a lager.

That’s why we drink pilsner this time of year.

For those unaware, a pilsner is a type of lager that’s brewed with pilsner malt and lager yeast (and other ingredients). It gets its name from the city of Plzen in the Czech Republic. This is where the beer style was first invented in 1842, with the creation of Pilsner Urquell.

Known for its balance of pilsner malts, floral hops, and lightly bitter, dry, very crisp finish. It’s a great beer in the spring and summer, but one that pairs well with all seasons. Keep scrolling to see our favorite no-frills, crispy pilsners you can buy right now. We even ranked them for you.

8.) Troegs Sunshine Pils

Troegs Sunshine Pils
Troegs

ABV: 4.5%

Average Price: $12 for a six-pack

The Beer:

This year-round offering from the folks at Troegs was brewed with pilsner malt, lager yeast, and Saaz and Hersbrucker hops. Secondary fermentation adds even more flavor to this crisp, refreshing, surprisingly well-balanced American pilsner.

LeBron James Called Out Caitlin Clark Haters During Her Hot Start To The Title Game

lebron caitlin clark

After setting ratings records in back-to-back games, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes figured to make a little more history on Sunday afternoon when they took on the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks for the national championship on ABC. A rematch of last year’s Final Four thriller that went Iowa’s way pit the biggest player against the best team in the women’s game, and the sports world was locked in for the 3 p.m. ET tip in Cleveland.

As she usually does, Clark rose to the moment in the early going, scoring 18 first quarter points to give Iowa an early advantage, pulling up from deep and giving the Gamecocks defense some fits in the first 10 minutes.

Among those dialed in for the game was LeBron James, who was wowed by Clark’s early effort like everyone else and decided to let folks know that not rocking with Clark’s game just makes you a “flat out hater.”

Clark has found herself as the leading topic of conversation of late, not just in the women’s basketball space but the sports world as a whole, which has brought an awful lot of takes with it. Some of those, unsurprisingly, have been folks looking to poke holes in her game. While Clark seems fine shrugging those off, she can take a bit of solace in knowing she has a big fan in the biggest name in all of basketball — who also knows a thing or two about dealing with that level of attention.

Joe Budden Trashed J. Cole’s ‘7 Minute Drill’ Diss Response To Kendrick Lamar: ‘This Narcoleptic-Sounding Sh*t’

For weeks, Drake and J. Cole fans waited for their response to Kendrick Lamar. Before Dreamville Fest 2024 kicked off, Cole served up his formal retort with the song “7 Minute Drill.”

However, many don’t believe it compares to Lamar’s brutal guest verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s track “Like That.” Joe Budden so happens to be one of those people. Today (April 7), in the latest episode of the mogul’s namesake podcast, he shared his unfiltered thoughts.

“This is not ok,” he yelled. “Cole, call Royce [Da’ 5’9″]. Call a killer. You’re just too nice. It’s the tone…That’s my issue with this narcoleptic-sounding sh*t. That is my issue. It sounds like if I was actively trying to cop fentanyl…[7 Minute Drill] is what I would put on.”

When asked what he wanted from Cole, Budden replied: “I want him to sound alive.”

But he did praise the beat selected for the track. “The first half [of the track] is giving me Latto,” he said. “The first half sounds like he was having a lot of fun on that tour with Drake. That first half sounds like a hit if he sounded alive, and then Drake came on right after.”

Sadly, each generation of hip-hop lovers has experienced tragedy. For the inception class, the tragic 2002 murder of Run-DMC‘s Jam Master Jay (real name Jason William Mizell) is a pain that won’t go away.

After decades of speculation, on February 27, two men (Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr.) were found guilty for their involvement in the beloved DJ’s untimely death. However, the case is far from over, as one additional suspect (Jay Bryant) is still awaiting trial. But, according to AP News, Bryant is reportedly in talks to accept a plea deal.

The outlet states that although Jordan was charged with firing the gun and Washington was involved in the plan to murder Mizell. However, Bryant also allegedly played a part in the overall conspiracy. With Bryant scheduled to head to trial in 2026, AP claims that the prosecutor’s office and his lawyer, César de Castro, are considering cutting a deal.

Nothing has been finalized as of April 4. By August 5, all parties are expected to file the written status with the courts and presiding Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall.

In court documents, the prosecutor argued that Washington and Jordan killed Mizell over a drug deal gone wrong. Mizell’s widow and children haven’t issued a statement regarding the claims.

According To Robbie Williams Today’s Music Scene Is ‘Boring,’ But Made An Exception For The 1975’s Matty Healy

The 1975 frontman Matty Healy’s enemy list is rather long. The people, organizations, and government agencies inked on the document include the Swifties, Rina Sawayama, Ice Spice, Noel Gallagher, and the country of Malaysia.

But it looks like he’s finally made an ally. In a post uploaded to Instagram, Robbie Williams seemingly cosigned Healy as a musician and his past controversial actions. “How boring is the music scene right now,” he wrote. “I’m not attacking the music itself. I’m just lamenting the death of friction, danger, and personality.”

But Williams did make an exception for Healy. “Matt Healy is the only commercially viable Pop/Rock star that I can see who is willing to be something other than beige,” he wrote. “I really like Matt. He’s unhinged, super smart, super talented, and willing to upset. Upsetting for a cause. The cause being a complicated inner life, a rebellious streak, and boredom.”

He closed by promising to carry out that energy. “I’ve gotta get some of that energy back in my musical life,” he wrote. “Like I say, ‘So many people to offend. I hope I have time to fit them all in.’ It’s time to take the piss again…and I’m looking forward to it.”

Healy hasn’t responded to Williams’ remarks. But based on past trends, something could be said quite soon.
