When Will ‘X-Men ’97’ Episode 5 Be On Disney+?

X-Men 97
Disney+

X-Men ’97 continues to be a smash hit on Disney+ as fans of the original animated series flock to the updated sequel series set in the heyday of the mighty mutants’ hold on Marvel Comics.

Last week’s episode 4 saw Jubilee and Sunspot face off against the classic villain Mojo as he pivoted from reality TV to video games in a homage to the classic X-Men arcade game. However, unlike previous installments, episode 4 was a split episode. After wrapping things up in “Motendo,” X-Men ’97 caught up with Storm as she worked with Forge to regain her powers in “Lifedeath Part 1.” While those efforts appeared to be fruitless (for the time being), Storm was captured by The Adversary in a cliffhanger ending that will apparently be resolved at later date.

Episode 5 is titled “Remember It” and will involve Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit visiting Genosha where their brewing love triangle will seemingly come to the forefront. Also, Nightcrawler finally shows up. Heck yeah.

When Will ‘X-Men ’97’ Episode 5 Be On Disney+?

X-Men ’97 episode 5 will start streaming at 3:00 a.m. EST/12:00 a.m. PST on April 10. New episodes stream every Wednesday until the season 1 finale arrives on May 15.

You can watch a sneak preview of X-Men ’97 episode 5 below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Marvel Animation’s X-Men ’97 revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.

X-Men ’97 streams new episodes Wednesday on Disney+.

Will There Be An ‘Invincible’ Season 3?

Invincible Atom Eve
Amazon

The Invincible season 2 finale delivered yet another brutal moment in the life of Invincible/Mark Grayson. Only this time around, he was the one unleashing the full force of his powers on a target who did not survive the encounter.

While Mark’s friends and allies do their best to comfort him after taking the life of Angstrom Levy, the young hero is falling apart at the seams as he worries that he’s just another destructive Viltrumite like his father Omni-Man.

The season 2 finale also teed up the beginning of an Invincible and Atom Eve romance that fans of the comics know is in the wings and will go to places that only Invincible can. So, now, the big question is: will we get to see Mark’s story continue in the fan-favorite Prime Video animated series?

Will There Be An ‘Invincible’ Season 3?

Good news. Season 3 was greenlit a long time ago, so yes, it’s coming. Even better, there shouldn’t be as long of a wait like there was after season 1. In a recent interview with Variety, series creator Robert Kirkman revealed that a sizable amount of Season 3 is already completed:

“Thankfully, we worked on season 2 and season 3 concurrently. I guess, unfortunately, we’re too far along on season 3 to learn anything from from season 2, but I think we’re picking up some things on how best to adapt this show. We’re learning different things on the animation side that work and don’t work that will continue to improve the show. I’m very happy with the show. I am loving how it’s turning out. I feel very strongly that season 2 is better than season 1, season 3 will be better than season 2.”

As you can tell, Kirkman is already promoting Invincible season 3.

“I think that there’s so many pieces that have been put in place in season two that we’re going to build on in season three and so many different ways that we’re going to expand the show and push the show even further,” he shared on the “Inside Episode 8” segment on Prime Video, via Total Film.

The official Invincible Twitter account is also getting in on the act by teasing the return of two characters for season 3: Battle Beast and Titan.

Invincible seasons 1 and 2 are available for streaming on Prime Video.

All The Best New Indie Music From This Week

indie
Getty Image/Merle Cooper

Indie music has grown to include so much. It’s not just music that is released on independent labels, but speaks to an aesthetic that deviates from the norm and follows its own weirdo heart. It can come in the form of rock music, pop, or folk. In a sense, it says as much about the people that are drawn to it as it does about the people that make it.

Every week, Uproxx is rounding up the best new indie music from the past seven days. This week, we got new music from Fabiana Palladino, The Drums, Babehoven, and more.

While we’re at it, sign up for our newsletter to get the best new indie music delivered directly to your inbox, every Monday.

Fabiana Palladino – Fabiana Palladino

Virtuosic session bassist Pino Palladino is known for his versatility, adapting his playing style to that of the main artist’s, whether that’s D’Angelo, Blake Mills, or John Mayer. His daughter, Fabiana, does something similar, except she has carved out her own style at the nexus of indie-pop and ’80s soul, adjusting her elastic voice to suit her own vision rather than someone else’s. Her eponymous debut album, co-produced with the ever-elusive synth-pop mastermind Jai Paul, is a tour de force from a talented new voice in pop music.

Pedro The Lion – “Modesto”

David Bazan is tackling the apocryphal “states” project Sufjan Stevens long ago abandoned. With Bazan, though, his approach is more granular and autobiographical. With 2019’s Phoenix and 2022’s Havasu under his belt, Bazan is now headed to Santa Cruz for the next Pedro The Lion album. Its lead single, “Modesto,” rolls by at a leisurely pace before waves of arpeggiated synthesizers overtake it. It’s yet another stunner from the indie rock dignitary.

Sarah Grace White – “Sinkhole”

Los Angeles’ Sarah Grace White has spent her whole life singing, but only now has she started putting out her own music. Following her debut EP last year, White has teamed up once again with producer Jorge Balbi, who drums for indie legend Sharon Van Etten, for “Sinkhole.” It’s a gentle, brooding tune rooted in the melancholia of artists like The Weather Station and Angel Olsen. Even though she grew up writing songs in solitude, it’s a gift that she now shares with the rest of the world.

The Drums – “The Impossible”

Last year, Jonny Pierce, who makes jaunty surf-rock as The Drums, released Jonny, a diaristic record centered on his intense religious upbringing and how it has affected him in adulthood. The deluxe edition of that record was just released, and it includes five new songs. “The Impossible,” one of those five, contains everything you know and love about The Drums: single-string guitar hooks, energetic drums, and Pierce’s breezy vocals, all of which belie the darkness at the core.

Brijean – “Workin’ On It”

In 2019, Brijean emerged with their debut album, Walkie Talkie, and have maintained a prolific streak ever since. The Oakland psych-pop duo, made up of Brijean Murphy and Doug Stuart, are about to release their fourth album in five years. Macro doesn’t come out until July, but Brijean have shared “Workin’ On It” to tide fans over. It’s a delectably groovy, funky pop song with loads of auxiliary percussion, wah-wah, and slick bass playing.

Eric Slick – “New Age Rage”

Kicking off with a batch of swift, dexterous drums, the title track of Eric Slick’s forthcoming album, New Age Rage, doesn’t waste time. It’s a frilly dalliance into dance-rock maximalism, overloading your senses with the Taco Bell gong, the AOL Instant Messenger door slam, Daft Punky vocoders, and synth squiggles that wouldn’t sound out of place in Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart DS. Slick gets his point across perfectly: This is the new age, and it’s time to rage.

Les Savy Fav – “Limo Scene”

Les Savy Fav are about to return with their first new album in over a decade, OUI, LSF. The New York post-punkers have supplied us with another new single from it, “Limo Scene.” Interspersed with metallic guitar stabs and a sprightly bass line, Les Savy Fav’s latest is a dance-punk jam for the ages.

Cloud Nothings – “Silence”

Before the imminent release of Cloud Nothings’ new album, Final Summer, they’ve shared one more taste of what’s to come. “Silence,” the group’s Dylan Baldi says, is about feeling powerless in the face of systematic, political strife. Namely, Baldi wrote the song after reading Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s majority opinion that overturned Roe v. Wade. “It’s wild that you can be a Supreme Court Justice and also be an idiot,” Baldi said about the track. That indignation comes through in the chorus: “With silence playing like a song that everyone knows / Right before the lie gets bigger and the lie moves into your home.”

Babehoven – “Ella’s From Somewhere Else”

Water’s Here In You, the latest album from indie-folk-meets-slowcore duo Babehoven, is just a few weeks away from release. The closing track, the six-minute “Ella’s From Somewhere Else,” is an homage to Squirrel Flower’s Ella O’Conner. In a press statement, vocalist Maya Bon says that she “began thinking of all the places Ella takes me in her songs.” Ella is also the name of Bon’s childhood dog, so the song slowly transformed into a dual tribute to both of the Ellas. And a beautiful tribute it is. It’s without a doubt one of Babehoven’s best songs.

Young Jesus – “Moonlight”

John Rossiter, the figurehead behind Young Jesus, has been rolling out his upcoming album, The Fool, with pairs of songs. One of those new singles is “Moonlight,” a track that Rossiter says is about two characters, David and Eloise, whom he created roughly 15 years ago and soon forgot about. For “Moonlight,” they make a grand return. “Eloise walks to take a picture of the lake at night,” he sings in the first verse, outlining a narrative about David’s voyeuristic inclinations on Eloise’s Instagram.

The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff Show About Jon Snow Is No Longer In Development

jon snow
hbo

And now his spinoff is ended.

Kit Harington confirmed to Screenrant that a Game of Thrones spinoff series based around his character, that know-nothing Jon Snow, is no longer in development. “I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development. I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it,” the actor said.

He then confirmed, “And currently, it’s not. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough.”

Harington said that everyone involved decided to “lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

Even without the Jon Snow show (or: Jon Show), there are plenty of other Thrones spinoffs to go around, including House of the Dragon, which returns for season two in June, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Harington will go back to starring in goofy comedies, hopefully.

Mom’s blistering rant on how men are responsible for all unwanted pregnancies is on the nose

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as Mormons, are a conservative group who aren’t known for being vocal about sex.

But best selling author, blogger, and mother of six, Gabrielle Blair, has kicked that stereotype to the curb with a pointed thread on reducing unwanted pregnancies. And her sights are set directly at men.

She wrote a Cliff’s Notes version of her thread on her blog:

If you want to stop abortion, you need to prevent unwanted pregnancies. And men are 100% responsible for unwanted pregnancies. No for real, they are. Perhaps you are thinking: IT TAKES TWO! And yes, it does take two for _intentional_ pregnancies.

But ALL unwanted pregnancies are caused by the irresponsible ejaculations of men. Period. Don’t believe me? Let me walk you through it. Let’s start with this: women can only get pregnant about 2 days each month. And that’s for a limited number of years.

Here’s the whole thread. It’s long, but totally worth the read.

Blair’s controversial tweet storm have been liked hundreds of thousands of time, with the original tweet earning nearly 200,000 likes since it was posted on Thursday, September, 13.

The reactions have earned her both praise and scorn.

Most of the scorn was from men.

But Blair wouldn’t budge.

For other men, the tweet thread was a real eye-opener.

Women everywhere applauded Blair’s bold thread.

The longest — and probably largest — proof of our current climate catastrophe ever caught on camera.

Photographer James Balog and his crew were hanging out near a glacier when their camera captured something extraordinary.

They were in Greenland, gathering footage from the time-lapse they’d positioned all around the Arctic Circle for the last several years.

They were also there to shoot scenes for a documentary. And while they were hoping to capture some cool moments on camera, no one expected a huge chunk of a glacier to snap clean off and slide into the ocean right in front of their eyes.

science, calving, glaciers

ocean swells, sea level, erosion, going green

It was the largest such event ever filmed.

For nearly an hour and 15 minutes, Balog and his crew stood by and watched as a piece of ice the size of lower Manhattan — but with ice-equivalent buildings that were two to three times taller than that — simply melted away.

geological catastrophe, earth, glacier melt

As far as anyone knows, this was an unprecedented geological catastrophe and they caught the entire thing on tape. It won’t be the last time something like this happens either.

But once upon a time, Balog was openly skeptical about that “global warming” thing.

Balog had a reputation since the early 1980s as a conservationist and environmental photographer. And for nearly 20 years, he’d scoffed at the climate change heralds shouting, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”

“I didn’t think that humans were capable of changing the basic physics and chemistry of this entire, huge planet. It didn’t seem probable, it didn’t seem possible,” he explained in the 2012 documentary film “Chasing Ice.”

There was too much margin of error in the computer simulations, too many other pressing problems to address about our beautiful planet. As far as he was concerned, these melodramatic doomsayers were distracting from the real issues.

That was then.

Greenland, Antarctica, glacier calving

In fact, it wasn’t until 2005 that Balog became a believer.

He was sent on a photo expedition of the Arctic by National Geographic, and that first northern trip was more than enough to see the damage for himself.

“It was about actual tangible physical evidence that was preserved in the ice cores of Greenland and Antarctica,” he said in a 2012 interview with ThinkProgress. “That was really the smoking gun showing how far outside normal, natural variation the world has become. And that’s when I started to really get the message that this was something consequential and serious and needed to be dealt with.”

Some of that evidence may have been the fact that more Arctic landmass has melted away in the last 20 years than the previous 10,000 years.

Watch the video of the event of the glacier calving below:

A teacher asked a great question about superintendent pay. Then, all hell broke loose.

Why should a superintendent get a raise while teachers in the same district struggling to make ends meet see their paychecks flatline — year after year after year?

Teacher Deyshia Hargrave begged the question. Minutes later, she was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of a cop car.

The scene was captured below by YouTube user Chris Rosa, who attended a board meeting for Vermilion Parish Schools in Louisiana.

You can watch Hargrave begin speaking about 33 seconds in. The situation starts becoming contentious around 6:35 minutes. Hargrave is arrested at 8:35, and then walked outside in handcuffs and placed in the back of police vehicle.

Teacher Deyshia Hargrave was questioning the school board how they can vote to give the superintendent a raise when school employees have not gotten a raise …

“We work very hard with very little to maintain the salaries that we have,” Hargrave, who teaches middle school language arts, said during a public comment portion of the meeting, stating that she’s seen classroom sizes balloon during her time at the school with no increased compensation. “We’re meeting those goals, while someone in that position of leadership [the superintendent] is getting raise? It’s a sad, sad day to be a teacher in Vermilion Parish.”

According to comments Hargrave made to BuzzFeed News, she believes Superintendent Jerome Puyau was already making $110,000 before the board voted to give him a raise of $38,000. The raise alone is roughly the salary of “a teacher, or two cafeteria workers, or two janitors,” Hargrave told the outlet.

After Hargrave spoke out again later in the meeting, a city marshal on duty asked her to leave — even though the school board was still addressing her.

“You’re going to leave, or I’m going to remove you,” the officer told her, as seen in the video. Many people in attendance seemed shocked. “Are you serious?” someone asked, aghast, in the crowd.

Hargrave leaves the room, followed by the officer. But moments later, someone chimed in, “he’s putting her in handcuffs” — and the room erupts in disarray.

“I am not [resisting], you just pushed me to the floor!” Hargrave is heard screaming at the officer, as he forcibly removes her down the hallway and out the building in handcuffs. “Sir, hold on! I am way smaller than you!”

Teacher removed from Vermilion school board meeting in handcuffs

According to KATV News, Hargrave was booked in the city jail for resisting an officer — a fact that left many commenters online flabbergasted. School officials are reportedly not pressing charges. “Umm … what charges could they possibly make?” one Redditor noted.

With help from the Reddit community, Rosa’s video has gone viral, garnering more than 600,000 views in less than 24 hours. Clearly, Hargrave’s earnest question about inequality in our education system — met with a grotesque abuse of power — has clearly touched a nerve with people across the country.

“I don’t know how this teacher could have been more polite and patient in her earnest desire to find out why the superintendent deserves a raise while the teachers work harder with less,” YouTube commenter Scott Wells chimed in. “She continued to press because they refused to come up with an answer. Seems like a good question to me.”

We agree.
