Brian Cox Will Trade ‘F**k Off’ For ‘Ho Ho Ho’ As He Takes On The Role Of Santa Claus

Logan Succession Brian Cox
HBO

After playing larger than life media mogul Logan Roy in the critically acclaimed HBO series Succession, Brian Cox is trading in his vulgar mood swings for a more festive tone.

The prolific actor will reportedly voice Santa Claus in a new animated movie for Netflix titled That Christmas. The film will be the directorial debut for Simon Otto, an animation veteran who’s worked on Love and Robots and How To Train Your Dragon. Also joining cast is several other venerable British actors including Jodie Whitaker, Fiona Shaw, and Bill Nighy.

Via Variety:

“Becoming an animator had been on my Christmas wish list ever since I was a child and watching animated movies was one of the biggest Christmas traditions in my family. But never could I have imagined that one day I would get the chance to direct a Christmas film written by the one-and-only Richard Curtis and collaborate with some of the most iconic voice talents,” Otto said in a statement. “Watching this cast bring life to these heartwarmingly funny tales and infuse them with the magic of animation is truly a dream come true. I hope ‘That Christmas’ becomes a cherished tradition for audiences worldwide.”

That Christmas will reportedly arrive on Netflix later this year and revolve around a “charming seaside town where things turn upside down one Christmas.”

Drew McIntyre Is Captivating WWE By Telling The Truth

Drew McIntyre
WWE

Drew McIntyre doesn’t mind being called WWE’s No. 1 hater. But don’t call him a bad guy. This is just him telling it like it is.

“I’m from the UK. If you’ve ever watched any UK comedy or seen the way people from the UK talk to each other, especially Scotland, we just shred each other. People would legitimately be shocked to see the way me and my friends talk to each other, like, do you guys hate each other? No, we’re actually really close friends,” McIntyre tells Uproxx Sports.

“Now I’m able to be that way on television, on social. But at the same time, to pull from real storylines, real material that we’ve had play out over the past four years, that at times I was like, this is the wrong decision. And I look back now and go, okay, this is such an important part of where we are now. Everything happened for a reason.”

McIntyre says he’s always had control of his social media and at times, you could see the real version of himself shining through, especially when it came to feuding with guys like Tyson Fury. That shift in tone and honesty moves further away from what fans have seen over the last four years, or as the character McIntyre refers to as “Drew McIntyre’s Smiley Sword Man.”

“What they’re seeing right now is absolutely me with the volume turned up. Everything’s got reality injected into it because I make sure it does. It’s such a collaboration now, with our creative team,” McIntyre continues. “This feels like I’m back in the independents where I was putting my own stuff together, my own thoughts together, making sure it makes sense across the board for me. I’m a very creative person. And when I feel creatively fulfilled, I’m at my happiest.”

Realism, not just about what happens in the wrestling ring, but what’s going on in his personal life has taken the McIntyre character to another level. It started with honesty to the audience, and has continued to evolve in how he interacts with his WrestleMania XL opponent, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.

“A lot of the previous thinking, which worked tremendously, was maybe people wouldn’t remember (what happened in the past). But I see it as a challenge. One, I do believe a lot of our audience remembers certain things that happen. And two, it’s my job as a performer to paint the picture and use whatever material I’m using to help further the story,” McIntyre says.

McIntyre’s journey to WrestleMania hasn’t been a direct path to the top. The former WWE champion acknowledges the need to practice patience in an industry known for its twists and turns.

“When it comes to what’s on TV, everybody can’t be saving the girl from the railroad tracks. Lots of different characters. It has to be a variety show. You’re not always going to be in that leading man role. You might get your chance and certain people might stay in that position, like Roman, Cena, on the likes, but the majority of us are going to go up and down,” McIntyre says.

“I was in a tag team at one point, I ended up rolling by myself, I ended up being more vocal and honest and more real Drew. And suddenly, Punk got injured at the Royal Rumble. It’s such a shame, I was crying, that was when I did it, and I was so upset about it, I’m still crying to this day. And yeah, he believes that was his spot. I didn’t magically get the spot at WrestleMania fighting for the title.”

https://twitter.com/DMcIntyreWWE/status/1752152134957555859/video/1

McIntyre has left no one unscathed on his run to a WrestleMania title match. After Punk’s injury came the infamous gravestone tweet, a message that exploded on X/Twitter and led to McIntyre informing those in charge that if a WWE shirt wasn’t made, he’d commission one himself to wear to the next Monday Night Raw.

McIntyre says he’s only telling the truth on his way to WrestleMania. He says Rollins is selfish and saw a tag team match against The Rock as a way to get more attention. He says Cody Rhodes forgot about his fans, forgot about finishing the story, and forgot about the video game that is “literally based around finish the story.”

While Rollins has been tied up with WrestleMania Night 1’s expected main event — where he’ll team with Rhodes against The Rock and Roman Reigns — McIntyre says he’s “doing the majority of the work” making people care about their Night 2 title match. That is where McIntyre hopes to culminate his journey back to the top and capture the elusive “WrestleMania moment.”

“I’ve had countless highs and lows personally, professionally, because my entire life has been wrestling. My entire adult life has been related to WWE in some capacity. I might have been a little frustrated at one point and knowing I could give more. But everything happens for a reason and the things that happen suddenly become motivation slash part of your story on television and off television,” McIntyre says.

“I guess we caught steam and finally, I feel like I’m truly being my full self with unlimited material to pull from because we have this last four year run, five year run of Drew McIntyre’s Smiling Sword Man and doing the right thing every time. I’m still the same guy. Just evolved, and as I always tell people, find me a lie that I’ve said, something that wasn’t true. You might not like what I say all the time, because you like the other guy I’m talking about, but I’ve only ever told the truth. I’ve evolved, I’ve got my killer instincts back.”

Whatever happens on Night 1 doesn’t matter much to McIntyre, as long as Night 2 pans out the way he envisions.

“At this point, all we have to do is get to the title match at ‘Mania. However, we got there, doesn’t matter. Old Drew’s got more momentum than he’s had in years. He’s the right man to become champion,” McIntyre says. “If Seth wants to spread himself so thin, try and get all that spotlight. What’s going to happen is he’s going to crash and burn on Night 1, and then crash and burn on Night 2. I don’t care as long as I’m champion.”

Will Eminem Release A New Album In 2024?

Eminem fans might have some tunes to look forward to this year. Some of his friends, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! in honor of Dre getting a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

While that was the shining topic on the show, Dr. Dre also wound up talking about Eminem and had some exciting news to share.

Will Eminem Release A New Album In 2024?

“Let me tell you something, let me explain something to you right now: Eminem is working on his own album which is coming out this year,” Dre said.

Although it might seem that Dr. Dre let the news about Eminem slip, he pointed out that he did get permission from the rapper. It’s also already been four years since the Detroit musician last released a record, with 2020’s Music To Be Murdered By.

“And I actually talked to him and he told me it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show,” Dr. Dre added. “So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire. I’m actually gonna hear the entire album for the first time for tomorrow. And he holds his music close to his chest so I haven’t heard everything. I haven’t even heard everything complete that I’ve done, but I’m gonna hear it, and he’s putting out an album this year.”

Check out the full interview, including Dr. Dre discussing Eminem’s new album in the works around the 25:20 minute mark, above.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part 2?

Yellowstone Kevin Costner John Dutton
Paramount

The final Yellowstone episodes might be a little weird to film. That’s an understatement, given that Kevin Costner, who has portrayed patriarch John Dutton for the entire show’s run, will not return and, in fact, might sue some producers over the whole mess. Beyond that, the cast will be returning after one of Taylor Sheridan’s ranches sued Cole Hauser (and apparently dropped the suit), but hey, this is a cowboy soap opera, and a little bit of drama might make the show even more enticing. How much drama? That depends.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part 2?

The answer comes from Josh Lucas, who portrays the younger version of John Dutton and is currently promoting Palm Royale for Apple TV+. When quizzed on the red carpet by Deadline, Lucas responded, “I think we’re going to do ten or so more episodes and wrap up the story.” How did he receive this valuable information? Presumably, from Taylor Sheridan: “I did text Taylor a couple of months back and said, ‘Hey man, I’ve loved working on the show so much.’ He’s like, ‘Well we’ll be back.’”

According to Decider, Lucas’ time on Yellowstone did cross over with his new Apple TV+ show. That led to a bizarre juxtaposition involving a cow:

“I would leave work on Friday on Palm Royale and go on Saturday morning and shoot Yellowstone and shoot John Dutton. And because I worked out this crazy thing where Palm Royale was my primary job, Yellowstone had to work around Palm Royale, and I would literally fly straight to Montana, and get on a cow, and put on a mustache, put on Kevin Costner’s voice, and then go right back to Douglas.”

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood strikes again.

Apple TV+’s Palm Royale debuts on March 20.

Jimmy Kimmel Reminded Everyone Of Stormy Daniels’ Haunting Description Of Trump’s ‘Mushroom’

Stormy Daniels is back in the news as the subject of a new Peacock documentary, Stormy. She’s also scheduled to testify next month in Donald Trump‘s hush money trial. NBC News reports that State Judge Juan Merchan gave Daniels and former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who paid Daniels to keep things quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump, “the green light to take the stand but placed some restrictions on Daniels’ testimony, specifically that she can’t testify about a lie detector test she took in 2018 indicating she’d been truthful about her comments about Trump.”

On Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, host Jimmy Kimmel (who is currently feuding with Trump) joked that since the judge is allowing Daniels and Cohen to testify, “There’s a very good chance the court stenographer will have to type the words ‘mushroom’ and ‘penis’ during the trial.”

In her book, Full Disclosure, Daniels described Trump’s penis as “smaller than average” but “not freakishly small.” She added, “He knows he has an unusual penis. It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool… I lay there, annoyed that I was getting f*cked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a d*ck like the mushroom character in Mario Kart.” Daniels called it the “least impressive sex I’d ever had,” but “he didn’t share that opinion.”

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, And 50 Cent Collaborate… To Mock Jimmy Kimmel’s Genitals In A Comedy Sketch

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent are four of the best to ever do it when it comes to hip-hop. Now, the four have come together on one project… that project being a Jimmy Kimmel Live! sketch.

The skit — which aired last night, March 19) is about a fictional TV show called Dre’s Anatomy, and anatomy is the issue here. The video starts with Kimmel being rushed into a hospital room, where Dr. Dre (playing an actual medical doctor, of course) lifts the blanket covering the host’s waist and is shocked by what he finds (or rather, doesn’t find).

Dre says, “What the f*ck is this? This man has no penis.”

Kimmel is confused by that, but Dre calls on “Dr. Broadus” (Snoop) for a second opinion. Even with help from a magnifying glass, Snoop has trouble locating the penis. 50 Cent then comes in with a telescope, focused squarely on Kimmel’s crotch, and still nothing. They eventually put Kimmel under anesthesia (which sure looks like weed smoke) before the beeping machines start producing the beat to “Still D.R.E.,” which gets a party started.

After the Dre’s Anatomy promo ends, it segues into a quick teaser for another fictional medical show, EM. Eminem makes a cameo, holding a syringe and deadpanning to the camera, “You only get one shot.” 50 enters and interjects, “One shot? I got shot nine times.” Eminem replies, “That’s a weird flex, but… OK.”

Check out the skit above. The group (minus Eminem) also sat down for a lengthy interview with Kimmel, so check that out below.

‘X-Men ’97’ Is Well Done And Picks Up Where It Left Off … Well, Sort Of

x-men 97
Marvel

When X-Men: The Animated Series wrapped up in 1997, it ended in an unusual place, plot-wise. Still highly popular, the series’ fifth season had budget cuts that affected the animation style and the voice cast. Technically the series did last longer than it was intended to last. But that doesn’t explain why it would end on basically a cliffhanger.

Charles Xavier is mortally wounded in an attack. Later, the X-Men, during a battle with Magneto, casually mention that Charles is dying, which results in Magneto agreeing to magnetically amplify his friend’s telepathy to contact Lilandra and the Shi’ar – who do arrive, right after Charles dies, but promise they can still heal Charles with their advanced technology. The series literally ends with the X-Men and Magneto watching Charles be taken away to an unknown fate. The End.

X-Men ’97 does pick up where the original series left off. Well, sort of. And there are a host of other changes that have happened in the 27 years since the original series ended and the few months that have passed during the timeline of the series. For one, the animation looks sharp and professional – as opposed to that final fifth season where there was, let’s say, a lot to be desired. Jubilee has a new haircut. Morph (based on Marvel Comic’s Changeling) is now going with his no face look (Personally, I like this look better for a being who can turn into anyone than just “some dude”) who now identifies as non-binary and, in the three episodes I saw of the new series, his hidden feelings for his fellow X-Men are used against him by Mister Sinister. Also, Scott and Jean are expecting a baby and the two struggle with the idea of leaving the X-Men after the loss of Xavier so they can raise their new child in peace.

The reason I say “sort of,” in regard to the plot is, again, at least a few months have passed since the events of the last episode of X-Men: The Animated Series and I wouldn’t say anything has been fully retconned, but it has been shaped a little differently. Mutant relations with humans have improved since the death of Charles Xavier, as humans feel sympathy for the mutants. But a group of insurgents (I use that word on purpose, as the parallels become more and more obvious as the episodes go on, which includes an attack on a government institution), using Sentinel technology, are hunting down mutants one by one, as well as any humans who are trying to help them.

When we last saw Magneto, he was hanging out with the X-Men, saying goodbye to Charles. There seemed to be, finally, at least somewhat, a trust between Magneto and the team. After all, Magneto did risk his own life to try to save Charles. In the opening episode of X-Men ’97, Charles has left it in his will that Magneto will now be the new leader of the X-Men. And the X-Men (especially Scott) are pissed about this. This doesn’t quite line up with how the series ended. But, it’s not a huge stretch and the tension creates a more interesting story-line than if everyone was just thrilled with this turn of events. For Magneto’s part, in honor of his friend Charles, and the current thawing of relations between mutants and humans, he’s basically agreed to chill and go along with the idea of peace. The X-Men are, of course, skeptical and ask Jean to scan Magneto’s mind. She refuses, saying it wouldn’t matter anyway. If Magneto is sincere (which he seems to be), that doesn’t mean he can’t change his mind a week later, or a day later, or an hour later.

I was at Mizzou when the original series ended and it was kind of in that era where Tivo/DVR wasn’t a thing yet, streaming certainly wasn’t a thing yet, and setting a VCR to record things felt like a hassle not worth doing, so I wasn’t a religious watcher and was most likely still sleeping when these aired on (I think?) Saturday mornings. (Though, on Friday nights, we never missed Boy Meets World before heading to CJ’s for wings.) But I do remember that I did enjoy the episodes I saw. They were surprisingly a lot more “adult” than what would be expected, or what we’d probably see today – which is probably a reason the series was so popular. (When I was a kid, I hated stuff “for kids” and could immediately tell when I was being pandered to with dumbed down crap. It’s probably the reason my favorite cartoon became Battle of the Planets. And, yes, it was a less violent retelling of Gatchaman. But, regardless, it was still really great.)

Watching this new series – which is Marvel Studio’s first crack at an X-Men story since regaining the rights, not counting the cameos in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels – it’s a lot of fun. Honestly, as someone who wasn’t a diehard of the original series, I was kind of dreading watching the episodes. But, turns out, I really enjoyed them. The themes and the plot twists and the fact that stuff actually happens, and has consequences, in only three 30-minute episodes, feels like a bit of a revelation. And, honestly, after the last couple of disastrous X-Men live-action films, this series gives me a lot of hope for the future of that franchise.
