Giannis Antetokounmpo Left Bucks-Celtics With A No-Contact Lower Leg Injury

giannis antetokounmpo
TNT

The Milwaukee Bucks played host to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night and spent the first half of the game running them out of the building. Despite losing four games in a row and seven of their last 10, the Bucks took it to the 1-seed in the Eastern Conference and went into the locker room with a 63-43 lead.

And then, with 3:37 left in the third quarter, Giannis Antetokounmpo hit the deck. While it’s hard to tell what happens, Antetokounmpo suffered a non-contact injury after inbounding the ball and attempting to run up the court. He immediately grabs his left calf and sits down, which leads to Doc Rivers calling a timeout and Antetokounmpo making his way into the locker room.

Eventually, the team ruled him out with a calf strain.

It goes without saying, but Antetokounmpo missing any time once the playoffs roll around would be nothing short of a disaster for the Bucks. Even as the team has struggled to stay healthy during the Doc Rivers era, Antetokounmpo has been a constant, as he’s appeared in 73 of a potential 79 games for the team this year and has played at an All-NBA level.

Milwaukee closes out this season with a home game against the Magic before road trips to Oklahoma City and Orlando. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on Antetokounmpo’s status for those games and the playoffs as that information becomes available.

Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker And Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn Have A Twisted Meet Cute In The ‘Joker: Folie À Deux’ Trailer

The most “damaged” musical (sort of) of the year is here.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to 2019’s Oscar-winning Joker. What can we expect from the movie that everyone will call Joker 2? Less U.S. Army and the Los Angeles Police Department presence, hopefully, but also full nudity, more Joaquin Phoenix, and the addition of Lady Gaga, who was cast as Harley Quinn.

You can watch the trailer above.

“When we were making the first movie, Joaquin and I always talked about making a sequel really because we were having a great time but we were never really serious,” director Todd Phillips told attendees at CinemaCon, where the trailer debuted. “Then when Joker became a huge success we talked about it during the pandemic and decided to do it and we had a blast doing it.” He added, “We cast Gaga because she’s magic. I was a producer on A Star is Born and that was where I was like she has magic in her. I’ve never talked about it as a musical, but it’s a movie where music is an essential element.”

Joker: Folie à Deux, which stars Zazie Beetz, Steve Coogan, Brendan Gleeson, and Catherine Keener, opens in theaters on October 4.

Artist transformed his apartment into an ‘art museum’ and now it’s protected after his death

You move into an apartment and can’t wait to decorate it however you’d like but unfortunately you’re pretty limited on what you can do. Most apartments don’t approve anything that can’t be easily removed, some don’t even allow you to paint. One man in England decided that he was going to make his apartment his own by decorating it with his artwork.

Ron Gittins was an artist that lived in the same apartment for over 30 years before his death. During his time in the apartment, the artist had created art all over the walls. Not just elaborate paintings but huge sculptures affixed to the walls that took up the wall’s entirety. His family visited the home after Gittins passed away, they were shocked to find such massive elaborate art pieces throughout the home.

The artist died in September 2019 according to CNN, but if you stepped into the home now, you’d see everything still in its place.

No one had been able to visit the man when he was alive as he discouraged people from coming over. After his death, his niece finally got to see what was behind the door. Outside of piles of art supplies, boxes and other items, the home was full of this amazing artwork that simply couldn’t be destroyed. At least that what Gittins’ niece, Jan Williams and partner Chris Teasdale thought, so they decided to petition to have it preserved.

“We always kept in touch but he did have some mental health problems and could create some difficult situations,” a family member explains to artnet. “But he didn’t seem to worry if other people sometimes thought he was mad. I think he believed he was ahead of the game somehow and if other people didn’t get it then that was their problem.”

Williams explains to CNN that her uncle was very flamboyant and would often go out dressed in costumes foraging for things to bring back home. It wouldn’t be surprising if he was collecting things to include in his artwork. Thanks to the effort of Gittins’ niece and her partner, others can enjoy his massive works of art at “Ron’s Place,” which is what they named the now protected site.

Williams and Teasdale, who are also artists started Wirral Arts and Culture Community Land Trust to crowdfund to save the apartment. Eventually the trust collected enough money through benefactors for the purchase of the entire apartment building and had been waiting for the special status granted by Britain’s Department for Culture.

Walking into the apartment is like walking into an art museum. He created larger than life animals to accent the fire places. One fireplace has a large lion’s head on it with its mouth wide open like it’s roaring, and inside the lion’s mouth is the opening of the fire place. There another one that has the head of a minotaur decorating it. Large murals are painted on all the walls that depict ancient Roman scenes.

“Ron always had his own particular vision and tended to work outside the parameters of the official art world. Although he sometimes undertook portrait commissions, he was more concerned with giving free reign to his imagination resulting in the creation of immersive visionary environments,” Ron’s Place website reads.

Recently, Ron’s Place was granted Grade II status which protects it from being destroyed in anyway as it has “more than special interest.” The rest of the apartment building won’t go to waste. According to CNN, the other apartments will be renovated and turned into artist studios where people could come to work on their art. Seems Gittins’ passion for art will live on through others who visit his home and those that create works of art in the same apartment building.

Man asks older folks for their biggest regrets and advice to their younger selves

Have you ever sat and talked with an older person about their life and what they’ve learned in their decades of living? Talking with older people can give us a lot of wisdom and perspective that we otherwise couldn’t get, which is why TikTok creator Yair Brachiyahu interviews people who are in their later years and asks them specific questions about their life experience.

Some of those questions include “What do you regret most in your life?” “What did you think was important when you were younger that you’ve realized isn’t as important as you thought?” and “What advice would you give your younger self if you could go back in time?”

These are good questions to ponder at any age, but older folks’ responses have a bit more weight to them. There’s a certain amount of wisdom that comes with experience and having lived through various stages of life. And when you put lots of those responses together, certain themes emerge that might be valuable for younger people to take to heart.

Here’s an interview Yair did with a 95-year-old woman that was particularly inspiring:

@yairbrachiyahu

95 Year Old Shares Her Biggest Regret #lifelessons #lifeadvice #interview #longervideos

Staying positive and upbeat is a common theme among centenarians who are asked how they’ve lived so long, so she may be onto something.

This 79-year-old’s response was similar, and she also hit on the most common thing people say they thought was important when they were young but realized isn’t actually.

@yairbrachiyahu

79 Year Old Shares Her Biggest Loss… #lifelessons #interview #lifeadvice #longervideos

So many older people say that they thought money and material possessions were important when they were young but have realized in their later years that as long as you have enough money to live, having more money and more things doesn’t make you any happier.

@yairbrachiyahu

46 Years Married Couple Share What’s Really Important In Life… #interview #lifelessons #lifeadvice #longervideos

Of course, as some have pointed out, it’s a lot easier to learn the lesson that money isn’t important once you’ve had more than enough money. And if you don’t have enough money to live comfortably, even if modestly, hearing that money isn’t important can feel a bit off-putting.

But that doesn’t change the fact that material wealth isn’t the holy grail many people think it is. It’s entirely possible to be rich and unhappy and entirely possible to be happy without a lot of money.

Listen to what this 78-year-old would go back and tell his younger self:

@yairbrachiyahu

78 Year Old Shares What’s REALLY Important In Life #interview #lifelessons #lifeadvice #longervideos

Over and over, the same lessons are shared by people who have been around the block a few times. Money isn’t as important as you think it is beyond basic living expenses. Relationships with family, friends and loved ones are where true wealth lies. Health is vital and taking care of your body matters. Stay positive and live life with gratitude and appreciation.

Yair has interviewed dozens of people, mostly between ages 60 to 100, and their answers are all uniquely fascinating. You can watch more of these conversations on his TikTok channel.

Torrey Craig And Andre Drummond Will Go In The Shaqtin’ Hall Of Fame After Colliding On An Off-Glass Alley-Oop

torrey craig andre drummond
NBC Sports Chicago

It’s been a long season for the Chicago Bulls. The team entered this year hoping that it could earn an automatic berth in the postseason, but because of injuries and general underperformance, they are guaranteed to be in the Play-In Tournament this year, and the only drama around that at this point is whether they’ll host the Atlanta Hawks as the 9-seed, or if they’ll have to go on the road as the 10-seed.

Basically, this has been a pretty brutal year for the Bulls, and if there’s one moment that really does sum up how things have gone, it might be this moment from Tuesday night’s game against the New York Knicks. Andre Drummond forced a stal that ended up in the hands of Torrey Craig, who took off in the other direction. Craig had a clear path to the rim and decided to show off a bit, as he tossed the ball of the backboard and wanted to throw down. The problem: Drummond thought this was for him, so instead, this happened.

This was almost an incredible moment in a good way, and instead, it ended up being an incredible moment in a bad way. I am also pretty sure I’ve never seen this before, so I guess congratulations to them.

Making matters worse, Drummond injured his ankle on the very next defensive possession and had to leave the game.

System Of A Down & Deftones Will Co-Headline A Show In San Francisco With The Mars Volta, Viagra Boys & Vowws

For one night only, System Of A Down and Deftones are co-headlining a special show in San Franciso. On August 17, fans of both bands can look forward to seeing them at Golden Gate Park.

Joining System Of A Down and Deftones are other alt-rock favorites, Vowws, Viagra Boys, and The Mars Volta. The event, which is produced by Another Planet Entertainment, is being dubbed as Golden Gate Park’s first-ever “after dark” ticketed concert. The concert begins at 3 p.m. and is slated to end at 10 p.m.

Fans can purchase tickets to the one-off concert starting Thursday (April 11th) at 10 a.m. PT. This will be a Live Nation presale, where fans can use the code RIFF. General on-sale will begin Friday (April 12) via Ticketmaster.

At the time, System Of A Down hasn’t indicated whether they will be playing their old hits, or if they will be dropping new material around the show. Back in 2022, System Of A Down’s lead vocalist Serj Tankian said in an interview with Metal Injection that he would be open to recording new material with the band when the time was right.

“It’s kind of like someone saying, I mean, I don’t know. If you’re an architect and you design this incredible museum and everyone comes back to you and says, ‘when are you going to do a museum again?’ And you’re working on, I don’t know, industrial projects at this point or whatever, but you’re like, oh yeah, I’m grateful that you like that design,” said Tankian. “That’s rad, you know? And I guess when the opportunity comes up to do a museum again, I’ll do a museum again and that’s exactly what it is.”

You can see the official concert poster below.

Will J. Cole’s ‘7 Minute Drill’ Still Be Removed From Streaming?

j cole
Getty Image

When J. Cole titled his new mixtape Might Delete Later, fans had no idea how literal that name would end up being — or how quickly the prophesy would come to pass. Just three days passed before J. Cole declared one of the songs, “7 Minute Drill,” the “lamest sh*t I did in my f*ckin’ life.” The song, built around a halfhearted response to Kendrick Lamar’s fiery call-out on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” received a somewhat lukewarm response from the hip-hop community, who questioned the premises of many of its positions on Kendrick Lamar’s musical output along with the wisdom of J Cole chucking those particular stones from the inside of a glass mansion.

After he apologized for the song, are likely wondering whether he intends to withdraw it from streaming completely. And while that wouldn’t be completely unreasonable… it would be utterly horrible optics.

The last time J. Cole got into a simliarly sensational tiff with another rapper was in 2020, when he released “Snow On Tha Bluff” and stumbled backwards into an ill-advised beef with Noname. In that case, he was met with the concise but stern response “Song 33,” as well as disapproval from peers who called him out for distracting from more meaningful discussions at the time. Notably, although both rappers expressed regrets for the short-lived feud, both songs are still on streaming.

Should J. Cole retract “7 Minute Drill” completely when he did not do the same for “Snow On Tha Bluff,” the contrast would almost certainly call scrutiny to his questionable views toward women; some commenters have already noted that he apologized for dissing Kendrick (this after subtly and overtly inviting battle for years) but not for lyrics perceived as transphobic elsewhere on Might Delete Later. On “Pi,” he taunts a straw opponent, “I’m seeing hints of a trans fella / In cancel culture’s vicinity, he’s no killer, trust me / Beneath his chosen identity, there is still a pussy.” Fans on Twitter have rightly noted that this is just the latest example in a pattern of lyrics with demeaning views of queerness (see also: the Born Sinner intro “Villuminati,” with multiple uses of a gay slur).

So, as of now, it doesn’t look like J. Cole plans to remove “7 Minute Drill” from streaming, but there are certainly quite a few other tracks in his discograpy that could also use some pruning and apologies.

Future & Metro Boomin’s ‘We Still Don’t Trust You’: Everything To Know, Including The Release Date, Tracklist & More

Not even an untimely phone hack can stop Metro Boomin or his longtime partner-in-rhyme Future as they prepare for the release of their second joint album in as many months, We Still Don’t Trust You.

Fans fully expect them to pick up where they left off with the first installment of their multi-release project, We Don’t Trust You, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and gave both artists their first non-Drake-featuring No. 1 hit song on the Hot 100 — although it was still technically about Drake, thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s declaration of menacing intent on “Like That.” Will they continue their admittedly vague assault on their frequent collaborator on the next album? We’ll find out soon.

Here’s everything to know about We Still Don’t Trust You.

Release Date

We Still Don’t Trust You is out 4/12 via Epic Records/Boominati Worldwide/Republic Records
