Folksy Dim Bulb Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville Seems To Have No Clue That IVF Actually Helps People Have Kids And Isn’t A Form Of Abortion Or Something : ‘We Need To Have More Kids’

Tommy Tuberville
Getty Image

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville seems to have no clue what damage his home state has wrought following a new controversial court ruling that declares embryos are children. As a staunchly pro-life Republican, Tuberville apparently thought the ruling would stop abortion, and he clearly had no idea that it actually made in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments untenable throughout the state.

“Yeah, I was all for it,” Tuberville proudly told a reporter outside a conservative event on Thursday via The Guardian. “We need to have more kids, we need to have an opportunity to do that, and I thought this was the right thing to do.”

“I think the big thing is right now, you protect – you go back to the situation and try to work it out to where it’s best for everybody,” Tuberville added. “I mean, that’s what – that’s what the whole abortion issue is about.”

However, Tuberville’s demeanor quickly changed when the reported noted that the ruling would have the opposite effect as IVF providers across the state announced they will no longer provide the process. Less IVF equals less kids, Tommy.

Via The Guardian:

“That’s a hard one,” Tuberville said when asked about IVF availability in Alabama. “It really is.”

Tuberville said: “I’d have to look at what they’re agreeing to and not agreeing to. I haven’t seen that.”

Realizing that Tuberville obliviously walked into a mess, the senator’s office issued a statement clarifying that he does not support halting IVF procedures, which again, will make more babies, not less.

“In addition to being pro-life and believing life begins at conception, Senator Tuberville is also pro-family,” spokesperson Hannah Eddins said. “He believes strong families are instrumental to our country’s success.

Is ‘Wonka’ Getting A Sequel?

Wonka Timothee Chalamet
Warner Bros.

By this time next month, the two highest-grossing movies of 2024 will both star Timothée Chalamet. That’s a little weird, right? Wonka currently leads the domestic box office for 2024 (even though it came out in 2023), while Dune: Part Two, which releases on March 1, is expected to make $60 million-$80 million in its opening weekend. That’s not to mention the hundreds of millions more it’ll earn in popcorn bucket sales.

But back to Wonka. Director Paul King was recently asked by Comic Book whether the Willy Wonka origin story (it’s amazing this movie is as fun as it is considering, again, it’s a Willy Wonka origin story) will get a sequel.

“It’s definitely something we’re thinking about. One of the things I love most about David Heyman, my producer, is that he has made so many great movies that he doesn’t feel the pressure to just make a movie because it can be made,” he said.

King brought up how there’s 50 years between Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Chalamet’s Wonka, so “we can wait a beat, and if we don’t come up with a story, this is a movie with a beginning, a middle, and end that works on its own and if we come up with something that we think can be exciting — certainly Oompa Loompas feel like there can be a plural Oompa Loompas. Of course there are some ideas sloshing around, but we don’t have a story yet, so we’ll see what happens.”

The last time King directed a sequel, it was Paddington 2. By that measure, Wonka 2 will be a disappointment unless it’s the greatest film of all-time.

Snoop Dogg Shared A Throwback Photo Of Himself With Kurt Cobain, But The Only Problem Is That The Photo Is Fake (Again)

snoop dogg
Getty Image

Time, as the man once said, is a flat circle. Everything we’ve ever done or will do, we’re gonna do over and over again.

Case in point: Snoop Dogg is once again sharing photos with Kurt Cobain. The last time he did so was in 2019 when he posted a recently resurfaced photo of himself and the Nirvana frontman hanging out in 1992. There was just one problem: The photo was fake, and Snoop had been fooled by a clever PhotoShop job by an Instagram user, Vemix, whose whole bit is pairing celebrity photos.

Today, Snoop posted another photo with himself and Cobain, this time, with the addition of Dr. Dre. Once again, though, it seems Snoop was the victim of yet another PhotoShop by Vemix. Snoop apparently thought the pic was real yet again, captioning the photo “Throwbac.” Incidentally, it is mostly real: The photo was from the 1994 American Music Awards, however, it didn’t originally feature Cobain. Instead, it featured the photographer Ron Wolfson’s son, Ryan, whose face Vemix replaced with Kurt’s. Wolfson noted the change in Snoop’s comments, but the Doggfather has yet to acknowledge the comment.

Interestingly enough, Snoop previously posted the original photo, which Wolfson reposted onto his own page back in 2021. I’ll give you three guesses as to why Snoop doesn’t remember.

Out of respect for Wolfson’s copyrights, you can check out Snoop’s erroneous post here and the original photo here.

‘The Diplomat’ Season 2: All The Details You Need To Know For The New Season (Update For February 2024)

The Diplomat Keri Russell

Keri Russell was sorely missed on the small screen since FX’s The Americans headed off into the anxiety-ridden sunset and many years after J.J. Abrams killed a show‘s appeal with a haircut. However, there’s never enough intrigue or espionage for the TV streaming audience, and since there’s plenty of Dad shows to fit that bill, it certainly was a fine idea to have Russell star in a shot for the ladies.

At least, The Diplomat ended up being a variation on that intrigue theme, and with a delicious twist, Russell’s U.S. Ambassador to the U.K. (Kate Wyler) has more than enough personal-life road bumps to complicate the plot even more. As viewers are aware, Kate is married to another career diplomat, Hal Wyler (portrayed by Rufus Sewell), and their relationship is anything but simple. However, a cliffhanger ending for the first season put Hal’s life in question, and the second season has a key addition to the cast — an actor with fitting TV experience and whose presence is sure to make this project more layered.

Here is everything we know so far about The Diplomat season two.

Plot

Creator Debora Cahn (Homeland, The West Wing) knows how to parcel out stories for an untold number of seasons, so that’s a good indication that Kate Wyler’s streaming tenure will last for the long haul. Additionally, Cahn will be bringing another The West Wing alum, Allison Janney, into the fold as Vice President Grace Penn. We’ve heard plenty about Penn already from other characters, and Janney should add to the slippery dynamics that already exist. Perhaps we should feel intimidated while waiting for her arrival.

The second season will obviously follow up on that explosion in the first season finale, and we will find out the fates of Hal along with multiple other characters including Ato Essandoh’s Stuart Hayford. Cahn admitted to Tudum that she wanted to leave the audience clamoring to find out what was coming next, and she also wanted to put both professional and personal relationship into question with “in one event that splits apart all at the same time.” Likewise, Russell was pumped by the virtually overnight series renewal: “I am thrilled to be headed back for another round of this smart screwball show. Dare I say it’s fun?”

And dare we say that, as incredible as Rufus Sewell is as an actor, putting Kate into a new solo dynamic without Hal’s career interference would be fun, too? Yes.

Cast

Keri Russell shall return as Kate Wyler, who will keep navigating her personal and professional lives and perhaps win the Golden Globe or Emmy for the next round. As mentioned already, sheer force of nature, Allison Janey, has been added to the mix, and probably expect to see Rory Kinnear back for more political shenanigans. And Rufus Sewell, too? That depends on how that explosion treated Hal, but it did not look fantastic.

Release Date

Netflix fast-tracked a second season, which is planned for a 2024 arrival. Precisely when that happens shall remain a mystery for now, but given that this series doesn’t rely on complex FX or dragons or anything, that’s a good sign that we shall see the story resume before end of year.

Trailer

We aren’t lucky enough to see a trailer yet, but there is no time like always to rewatch these anxiety-provoking moments from The Americans. (Or better yet, go rewatch it on Hulu while waiting for more of The Diplomat.

How To See Your Apple Music Recap For January 2024

Apple Music
Getty Image

A fun end-of-year tradition most music streaming services have is a recap of everything users listened to over the previous 12 months. The bummer about it, though, is that it only comes once a year. Starting in early 2024, though, Apple Music introduced a monthly version of its Replay feature, so users can get data on their listening habits year-round.

If you’re an Apple Music user who would like to know how to use the new monthly Replay, read on.

How To See Your Apple Music Recap For January 2024

The process is pretty simple: visit replay.music.apple.com, log in with your Apple ID, and there you go.

As for what the new Replay feature offers, an Apple Music support page explains:

  • “Get insights every month: Once you’re eligible, you can see your top songs, artists, and albums every month based on play count and time spent listening. And you can see any milestones you’ve reached listening to music.
  • See your year-end Replay: At the end of the calendar year, you can see your top songs, artists, albums, genres, playlists, and stations, along with play counts, totals, and the time that you’ve spent listening to them.
  • Play your year-end highlight reel: Celebrate your year in music with an audio and visual recap of the music that you listened to the most.
  • Share insights: Tap the Share button to share your personalized listening insights in a message and on social media.”

That page offers more detail beyond that, so check it out here to learn more.

Ian McShane Confirms The ‘John Wick’ Spinoff ‘Ballerina’ Is Being Reshot To ‘Protect The Franchise’

Joh Wick 4
Lionsgate

The latest John Wick spinoff Ballerina has had quite a tough time getting out of the gate after a series of reshoots, and it was revealed this week that the film is being delayed until June 2025. It might seem sad, but it’s important to remember that the longer it’s delayed, the longer Keanu Reeves can play Wick, and that seems worth it.

The upcoming installment stars Ana de Armas as Rooney, a ballerina who seeks revenge on those who murdered her family. The story is penned by Shay Hatten, who wrote John Wick: Chapter 3, and Saltburn‘s Emerald Fennell also contributed to the story, so there could very well be some weird stuff to look forward to.

Ian McShane, who plays Winston in the franchise, shared an update on The One Show, revealing that the whole movie is being retooled to blend in with the universe. “It’s not reshoots, its new shoots,” McShane explained.

“The new shooting for Ballerina, which is the spinoff with Ana de Armas of the John Wick franchise… you know, it’s like, they’ve got to protect the franchise,” he explained, adding that Wick director Chad Stahelski has joined the project to make it even bigger and better. “It was about a year ago that we did the movie Ballerina. They’ve looked at it, and Chad’s come in, the guy who directed all the John Wick movies, and they want to make it better. Keanu’s in it as well. It takes place between John Wick 3 and John Wick 4,” he confirmed.

Even though we have to wait longer for this film to hit theaters, it seems like it will be worth the wait, unlike The Continental, Peacock’s disastrous prequel series. McShane also confirmed that he had nothing to do with the show. “Why would I have seen it? They never asked anybody about it. They just went and did it. Both Keanu and I went: ‘I don’t know, nobody ever asked us about it!’” To his credit, it seems like a lot of people did not see it.

Maybe the lesson here is that nothing Wick-related should ever be made without consulting Keanu, Chad, and the many prestigious dog actors involved.

Watch The Rock And Triple H Discuss Their Rivalry In A+E’s ‘WWE Rivals’

Rock Triple H
WWE

If their latest interactions have told us anything, it’s the rivalry between The Rock and Triple H hasn’t diminished in the 20 years since they last officially mixed it up in the squared circle.

Their iconic rivalry will be the focal point in the first episode of this season’s “WWE Rivals” on A&E, where fans will watch from the ring to behind the scenes as actor and former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. leads a roundtable discussion with Kevin Owens, Johnny Gargano, and John Bradshaw Layfield through the twists and turns that follow their parallel paths to the top.

Check out an exclusive first look at what you can expect as part of Sunday’s episode:

The Rock and Triple H’s rivalry has taken many forms over the years, starting in a mid-card battle for the Intercontinental crown, a fierce rivalry between The Nation of Domination and D-Generation X, and eventually making its way to the main event scene, where they became two of WWE’s top stars who competed for the promotion’s most coveted prize. The episode’s timing couldn’t be more perfect as that rivalry has continued even in recent weeks with both former opponents as executives of TKO, where their onscreen struggles for power have taken center stage while WrestleMania plans come to fruition.

“WWE Rivals” premieres Sunday, February 25 at 8 p.m. ET on A&E alongside the “Biography: WWE Legends” series.

AT&T Would Like To Clarify That Their Massive Outage Was Not, In Fact, A ‘Leave The World Behind’ Situation

Leave the World Behind Julia Roberts
Netflix

On Thursday morning, thousands of AT&T customers woke up to the discovery that their phones were now in SOS mode because of a massive outage affecting the wireless provider. Soon, social media began filling up with reports that other cell phone providers like Verizon and Cricket were also experiencing outages (they were, but very minimally), which sparked a wave of reactions that the country was now in a Leave the World Behind type situation.

The Netflix film centered on a cyberattack that began its first phase by taking down cell phone networks to isolate the populace. However, the Leave the World Behind jokes suddenly took a dark turn when reports started coming in that both the FBI and Department of Homeland Security were investigating the outage and demanding answers.

Was the outage a cyberattack after all? Not so much. According to AT&T, the real cause of the outage was a different, but not surprising culprit: A software update.

Via ABC News:

AT&T told ABC News in a statement ABC News that the outage was not a cyberattack but caused by “the application and execution of an incorrect process used as we were expanding our network.”

“We are continuing our assessment of today’s outage to ensure we keep delivering the service that our customers deserve,” the statement continued.

Despite all of the Leave the World Behind memes, AT&T wants everyone to know that the outage was a simple software screw-up and not a “nefarious or malicious” event caused by an “external actor.”

In layman’s terms, the bloops didn’t bleep right, and that’s why you couldn’t text on the can yesterday. Mystery solved.
