An Alternate ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer Changed A Very Dirty Joke

deadpool 3 trailer
marvel

There have been references to pegging in TV shows and movies for years now (shout out to that one episode of Broad City). It’s not as normalized as foot fetish representation, but it’s not far behind, either. That being said, it’s still pretty shocking to hear a pegging joke in the trailer for a Disney movie.

The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer premiered during Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday — or at least a teaser for the trailer did. To watch the full-length video, people were instructed to head to YouTube where the trailer was uploaded in all its R-rated (and Easter eggs) glory. There’s swearing, butt slaps, loads of violence and blood, and the aforementioned pegging joke.

Unless you caught the alternate trailer:

Instead of Ryan Reynolds (in Deadpool’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut) saying “pegging isn’t new for me, friendo, but it is for Disney,” the PG-13 version of the trailer has him quipping “the R rating isn’t new for me friendo, but it is for Disney” before looking at the camera.

That Deadpool, ain’t he a stinker?

Deadpool & Wolverine, which is directed by Shawn Levy and also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen (Tom from Succession!), opens on July 26.

Wendell Carter Jr. Talks Paolo Banchero’s Leap And What Makes This Magic Team So Good Defensively

wendell carter jr

With the way the Orlando Magic closed the 2022-23 season, there were plenty of people keeping an eye on them as a team to jump into the East Play-In chase this season. However, few saw them getting off to the hot start they did, vaulting to the top of the East standings. And while they’ve cooled off some, they’re still a real threat to nab a playoff berth, sitting just 0.5 games back of the Pacers for the 6-seed currently.

What makes Orlando fairly unique is they’re a very young team that is winning because of their exploits on the defensive end of the floor. The Magic are fourth in the NBA in defensive rating as we near the All-Star break, which is rarely the hallmark of a team filled with players in their first five years of service in the league. The Magic are built around the idea of throwing waves of size and length at opponents, with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner at the forefront of that attack, along with a deep frontcourt rotation featuring Wendell Carter Jr., Mo Wagner, Goga Bitadze, and Jonathan Isaac.

For Carter, he’s just now getting back into a rhythm after dealing with two different injuries this year, but since the sixth-year big man returned to the starting lineup late in January, the Magic have gone 7-4 to inch ever closer to the top-6 in the East again. Like many on this young Magic team, being in this position is new territory for Carter. After starting his career in Chicago before being traded to Orlando, Carter has never been on a team that finished with a winning record, and when we talked last week a day before the trade deadline, he couldn’t hide his excitement to be part of a team fighting for a playoff spot.

Carter spoke with DIME on behalf of Call of Duty as they launch Modern Warfare III and Warzone Season 2, with Carter one of many players in the NBA who is a loyal COD player, noting he gets a few hours in each day in his downtime. We talked about how video games help a young team like the Magic bond, how this young Orlando team can be so good defensively, what impresses Carter most about Banchero’s leap into being an All-Star in Year 2, and Carter finding his way as a “vet” despite being in just his sixth season.

I talked to [Jalen Williams] JDub in OKC about this, as they’ve got kind of a similar team to y’all in terms of having a lot of young guys. How important is Call of Duty and gaming to how you guys connect and have been able to bond off the court?

Oh man. I think that might be number one for us. We don’t necessarily play together as much, only because when we’re back home guys have different schedules or whatever the case may be. But I mean from [Jalen] J Suggs to Admiral Schofield to me to Markelle Fultz, everyone plays video games. Call of Duty is usually the main game everyone plays. I mean, I bring it on the road every time. Anytime we have an off day I’m on there for about four or five hours. It’s just a way to escape reality a little bit. So, it’s a game that I’ve always played since I was like 18 years old.

How would you rank your teammates Call of Duty skills? Like, who’s at the top of the Magic’s power rankings for Call of Duty?

I’d definitely probably say [Jalen] J Suggs number one. He takes it very seriously. He’s really good at the game. I’d definitely put myself at second though, right behind him. It’s because I have more experience than most of my team. I’ll probably go Admiral Schofield next. Admiral’s pretty good. Who else am I missing? Cole [Anthony] is pretty good and Caleb Houstan is pretty good. Those are guys that I really know who play the game or at least play Call of Duty a lot.

Is there anybody that you wouldn’t want in your squad?

[Laughs] Honestly, I’ll probably say Markelle [Fultz] only because our relationship is so goofy. He would just make the game so much harder than it has to be. That’s probably one guy I would not want to be squaded up with.

I want to talk a little bit about about the season for you. You’ve been in and out of the lineup with injuries but you’ve been able to play a bunch of games in a row now. How are you feeling? And are you finally feeling like you’re able to get into a rhythm find your role on this squad?

Oh, absolutely. You know, it’s tough going down early, just the fifth game into the season. You know, they found ways to win games, went on that nine-game winning streak which was a really big highlight for us to achieve this year, especially early on. With me coming back, it’s always good just to be back on the court. So those first couple of games are just me trying to find my way. But now I definitely feel like I implemented myself as the same Wendell that the Orlando Magic has seen the last two years. So it just felt good to get back out there, because going into the season my biggest goal was just to play at least 80 games or 82 games. I wanted to be able to play and be available for every game. So it was a little frustrating when it happened, but I always believe that everything happens for a reason. I’m finally back out there and I’m feeling pretty good right now.

When you have that time where you’re out and watching the team play, what are the things you’re able to take away as positives?Do you try to learn the ways you can kind of fit in because you get to watch those guys play from a different viewpoint than when you’re out there on the floor?

It’s always interesting. I’ve unfortunately had a lot of injuries throughout my career in the NBA so I’ve had a lot of time to actually watch from the outside looking in, not necessarily as a fan but as a teammate. And it allows me to kind of see where I can get my shots at or on the defensive end what needs to be improved. What can I do to help on the defensive end? Being a great teammate, it helps me with communicating a little bit more. Since I’m not out there, being able to see some things that they may not be able to see while being out there, and being able to communicate those things to my team. So yeah, that’s really probably the biggest three things for me.

Y’all have been really good defensively this year. I wanted to ask, what does Coach Mosley instill in you guys defensively? Because historically young teams don’t tend to be able to put together a high level defense. What is it about this coaching staff and this particular group of guys that allows y’all to play at such a high level on that end and be so successful in slowing teams down when we have historic offense in the NBA right now?

I mean, it’s amazing. I’ve been a part of fairly young teams, and it’s always tough to get guys to buy into the defensive side of the court. You know, a lot of young people believe that scoring is the only way to affect the game. And going into this year I remember Coach [Jamahl] Mosley was telling us at the beginning of the year that defensive travels. You make shots, you miss shots, that comes with the game, but defensive effort you can bring every single night. No matter what’s happening on the offensive side of the ball. So I think he did a really good job of getting us all to buy into it. You know, with us being so young, like you were saying, it’s really hard to do that. I’m just lucky to be a part of a team that everyone’s just bought into winning. When you win, everybody reaps the benefits of it. So I’m just glad that I’m a part of a team that cares about defense as much.

How much did the second half of last year help with that? Because y’all had a rough start to the year but you closed the year strong and got that taste of winning and could build those habits. How much were you guys able to carry over from that and build on that as a foundation for what you’re doing this year?

It was important. You know, we started off the season pretty banged up last year. So when we went back to having everyone back, we got a taste what the Orlando Magic was really capable of. And the fact that we didn’t look at it as, “Oh, we’re just gonna give up for the season and whatever happens happens,” the fact that we were able to buy in and just continue to play each game and just making every game important, it just shows how locked in and how validating it can be as a team. And when we’re fully healthy I feel like a very dangerous team. It showed a lot of things for us last year, so it gave us a lot of things to look forward to going into this year.

Honestly, I think it’s his mindset over everything. He’s a guy who’s on a team where he’s the number one option, he’s an All Star, on an up-and-coming team in the league. He has the keys right now. So for him to be in a position he’s at and still be willing to learn, still being willing to do what it takes to win, it just shows how good he’s really going to be. In my opinion, I feel like we’re just now scratching the surface of how good he’s going to be in the league. So it’s amazing to see a young guy who just turned 21 not too long ago, that with all the fame, all the eyes on him, all that, he’s still staying dialed in and focused and still, like I said, willing to learn and get better on both ends of the court. So I give a lot of credit to him in just how he approaches the game.

I know you’re only in your sixth year in the league, but you are one of the vets on this Magic team. What are the things that you tell the guys about navigating an 82-game season and the ups and downs? Because this year you had the winning streak early, then you had a little bit of a skid, and now you seem to be stabilizing ab it. What do you tell them about managing emotions over the course of 82 games?

Personally, I’ve never had a winning season, above .500. This is my first year in the league of having that. So I kind of told them to just be patient. This NBA cycle is up and down. There’s teams that are at the top of the league one year and then the very next year, they’re fighting to get into a Play-In game. So I kind of just tell them, as a team, there’s no way you’re going to be a perfect team and win every game. You’re gonna lose some. You’re gonna win some. You’re gonna win some that everyone thinks you weren’t supposed to win. You’re gonna lose some that everyone thinks you should have won. That’s the beauty of the league.

Then individually for guys, I just tell them, again, just to stay patient. Your time is coming. I look at his team and we have so much depth, from the first man to the 15th man I think he can play major minutes on any team in the league. I just try to tell them to just keep the main thing the main thing, which is going in and working, doing what you got to do, being on time, doing everything you can to give yourself a chance when the time comes. And I think they’ve done a phenomenal job of that. Like I said, it’s a pleasure to be a part of a team that’s this young but so locked into the little things.

Kate Winslet Gave A (Relatively) Hopeful Update Regarding ‘Mare of Easttown’ Season Two

mare-of-easttown-top.jpg
HBO

There has always been a small hope that we would get a second season of Mare of Easttown at some point, though it always seemed like it would be quite a while. The HBO drama only ran for one season (what some would call a “limited series,” but the term is loose these days) and managed to receive dozens of award nominations and the creator even threw out some good ideas for more storylines. So all we need is Kate Winslet to charge up her vape and head back to PA for more, and it seems like she’s finally warming up to the idea.

In a new interview with Net-A-Porter, Winslet fondly looks back on her time as Mare. “F*cking Mare” she muttered when asked about a possible return. It started on a great note!

Winslet then revealed that she isn’t opposed to more Mare. “You never know. I loved playing her,” she explained, adding that it was not an easy role for her.”[But] it was really hard… [and] it took so long to get her out of my bloody system.”

While she might be considering it, the actress has been open about how hard the character was for her. In 2022, she told Indiewire “I can’t just go, ‘Oh yes, let’s just do it again.‘ It’s a colossal, colossal commitment and did really take a huge amount out of me. And I know it would do that again, it would have to, if I was going to give people what they want and ultimately deserve, to see out of Mare Sheehan. You never know.”

However, last year, Winslet told TVLine that she “would absolutely love to play Mare again” so it seems like enough time has passed. “I miss her. I really do,” she added. This is how people normally feel when they go too long without stepping foot in a Wawa, so it makes sense. It’s only a matter of time before she starts stock-piling spray cheese.

How Is Netflix’s ‘The Gentlemen’ Tied To Guy Ritchie’s Movie?

The Gentlemen Guy Ritchie
Via Netflix

Guy Ritchie digs “gentlemen” and non-gentlemen alike. He will soon bring the world an action-packed, Nazi-killing movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, starring Henry Cavill’s tongue and Alan Ritchson’s guns. In 2019, he also gave us Matthew McConaughey as a marijuana kingpin (Michael “Mickey” Pearson) in a little film called The Gentlemen (also starring Charlie Hunnam and Hugh Grant), and Madonna’s ex-husband also has a Netflix series called The Gentlemen coming to the streaming waves in March.

Are these two projects that are both called The Gentlemen related? Yes, they are in the same world, but this series will revolve around a different story. Don’t worry, there is still a weed empire, which is essentially the same weed empire as the movie, involved here. Theo James will portray Eddie Horniman, whose aristocratic father bequeathed him an estate that helps to host Mickey Pearson’s, uh, fruits. From the Netflix description of the upcoming series:

We meet Eddie Horniman as he inherits his father’s sizable estate… only to discover it’s part of a weed empire. Moreover, a host of unsavory elements of Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game. However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it.

Netflix’s The Gentlemen co-stars Ray Winstone, Kaya Scodelario, Vinnie Jones, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Chanel Cresswell, Michael Vu, Daniel Ings, Max Beesley, Dar Salim, Pearce Quigley, Ruby Sear, and Peter Serafinowicz. Netflix revealed some character posters, too.

The Gentlemen series debuts on March 7.

Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Shared A Sweet Post-Super Bowl Kiss (And Some Adorable Moments Later On, Too)

It’s been a pretty fantastic run lately for the pop culture power couple that is Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Last weekend (not this past weekend, the one before), Swift won some Grammys, including Album Of The Year, and announced a new album. Then, yesterday (February 11), Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII in overtime. Both halves of the super-couple logged the biggest possible achievements in their respective fields, just a few days apart. Not a bad week!

After the Super Bowl, there was of course much celebrating on the field. Swift was in attendance and when she found her way to Kelce, they shared a nice moment. The two had a lot of hugs and kisses, Swift shared in Kelce’s joy with some encouraging words, and overall, two uber-successful and by all accounts uber-nice people got to enjoy an awesome time together.

The fun didn’t stop there, though. Later in the evening, the two were spotted at a post-Super Bowl celebration with teammates, friends, and family. One adorable clip sees Swift and Kelce dancing to a club-ready remix of Swift’s “Love Story,” singing the song to each other and kissing. Elsewhere, the two sang “You Belong With Me” to each other from across the room and it was also cute.

So yeah, pretty good week for the Swift/Kelce squad!

Nikki Haley Isn’t Done Slamming Trump For His ‘Disgusting’ Remarks About Her Husband: ‘You’re Mocking All Veterans’

Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley continued to fire back at Donald Trump after the former president mocked her husband Michael Haley for not being on the campaign trail. Apparently, no one informed Trump (or he just didn’t care) that Haley’s husband serves in the National Guard and is currently deployed overseas in Africa.

“She comes over to see me at Mar-A-Lago. ‘Sir, I will never run against you,’” Trump said at a rally in Haley’s home state of South Carolina. “She brought her husband. Where’s her husband? Oh, he’s away. He’s away. What happened to her husband? What happened to her husband?! Where is he?! He’s gone. He knew. He knew.”

Ever since Trump made the remarks, Haley has taken her most aggressive swings yet at the Republican frontrunner. After blasting Trump on Twitter, Haley appeared on Fox News where she responded even more fiercely to the remarks about her military husband.

“It’s disgusting!” Haley told Dana Perino. “I mean, every bit of it’s disgusting, you know, to sit there and mock my husband for not being with me on the presidential trail because he is deployed and serving our country.”

Via Mediaite:

“You mock one veteran, you’re mocking all veterans,” she continued. “But this is a pattern, Dana. He’s done this over and over again. Whether he went and called military members suckers, whether he was at Arlington Cemetery saying what was in it for them, why would they do this? The problem with Trump is he’s never been anywhere near a uniform.”

Seeing an opening with Trump’s disparagement of the military, Haley took things even further by also slamming the former president for his highly controversial remarks about allowing Putin to attack NATO allies.

“This is what you’re getting,” Haley told Fox News’ audience of Republican voters. “We can do better than this.”

The Best Belgian Beers (That You Can Actually Find In America!), Ranked

St. Bernardus/Delirium/Saison Dupont/Blanche Bruxelles/istock/Uproxx

If you were to ask avid beer drinkers to tell you the one country they’d like to drink their way through, you’d get a lot of people yelling “Belgium!” One of the most respected beer countries in the world, Belgium is home to hundreds of breweries, many of which have been honing their craft for hundreds of years.

When it comes to Belgian beer, there’s something for every palate. The country is known for myriad beer styles, including strong ales, lambics, Flemish ales, pale ales, wheat beers, stouts, and just about everything in between. The best part? Some of the best beers made in this European country are available at your local beer or grocery store.

To help you on your Belgian beer journey, we found eight of the best witbiers, Trappist ales, golden ales, and other Belgian styles that deserve a permanent spot in your refrigerator. Then we ranked them on the overall flavor (you likely know by now that we value balance highly around these parts). Keep scrolling to see them all.

8.) Orval Trappist Ale

Orval Trappist Ale
Orval

ABV: 6.9%

Average Price: $8 for an 11-ounce bottle

The Beer:

Brewed simply with water, barley malt, candi sugar, hops, and yeast, Orval Trappist Ale was first brewed in 1931. It’s a Belgian pale ale, but it doesn’t taste like your favorite Sierra Nevada Pale Ale though. Bottled with Brettanomyces, it’s known for its funky, yeasty, acidic, fruity, dry flavor profile.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, you’ll find barnyard notes, bready malts, funky yeast, citrus peels, orchard fruits, and floral hops. Sipping it reveals notes of Belgian yeast, wintry spices, candied orange peels, apples, more barnyard funk, and floral, earthy hops. The finish is dry, lightly acidic, and memorable.

Bottom Line:

Orval is a funky, yeasty, fruity, memorable Trappist Ale that you’ll go back to again and again.

7.) Achouffe La Chouffe

Achouffe La Chouffe
Achouffe

ABV: 8%

Average Price: $12 for a four-pack

The Beer:

This 8% ABV Belgian blonde bier is a strong ale well-known for its mix of hops, citrus, and gentle spices. This award-winning, highly popular beer has been brewed the same way since its creation in the early 1980s. Crisp, refreshing, complex, and surprisingly easy to find in the US.

Tasting Notes:

Bananas, cloves, fruit esters, tropical fruits, and yeasty bread aromas make for a unique nose. The palate is loaded with yeast, banana bread, dried fruits, cloves, pepper, orange peel, and floral hops. The finish is crisp, refreshing, and pleasantly yeasty.

Bottom Line:

At 8% ABV, you’d assume this is a heavier beer. But it’s surprisingly light and flavorful. This is a can’t-miss blonde ale.

6.) Chimay Grande Réserve Blue

Chimay Grande Réserve Blue
Chimay

ABV: 9%

Average Price: $23 for a four-pack

The Beer:

Created to be a Christmas ale back in 1954, Chimay Grande Réserve is a 9% Belgian strong ale that’s perfect for the colder months. Known for its mix of malt sweetness, dried fruits, caramel, and light floral hops, it’s an iconic, beloved Belgian beer for good reason.

Tasting Notes:

A nose of chocolate, raisins, caramel malts, light spices, and yeasty bread makes for a welcoming beginning to this beer. Drinking it brings forth notes of raisins, dates, brown bread, caramel candy, cloves, candied orange peels, licorice, and chocolate. It’s warming, sweet, and loaded with complex flavors.

Bottom Line:

This is the kind of beer that’s so filled with rich flavors, that it will take you multiple samplings to even come close to finding them all.

5.) Tripel Karmeliet

Tripel Karmeliet
Karmeliet

ABV: 8.4%

Average Price: $15 for a 750ml bottle

The Beer:

This popular beer is simply made with barley, oats, and wheat. The result is a highly complex beer featuring barley, yeasty bread flavors, and a light, easy-drinking body. Vanilla, caramel, citrus, and gentle spices make for a very unique, elegant beer.

Tasting Notes:

Nosing it brings forth aromas of candied orange peels, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla beans, dried fruits, and caramel candy. The palate is a symphony of toasted vanilla beans, toffee candy, orange peels, lemon, wintry spices, and earthy, lightly floral hops.

Bottom Line:

This beer is as surprisingly simple in its ingredients as it is complex in its aromas and flavors.

4.) Blanche de Bruxelles

Blanche de Bruxelles
Blanche de Bruxelles

ABV: 4.5%

Average Price: $11 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

When it comes to wheat beers, it’s tough to beat the appeal of those coming out of Belgian. One of the best is Blanche de Bruxelles. This unfiltered, cloudy, hazy, yeasty, sweet wheat-filled beer gets added flavor from the addition of coriander and dried orange peel in the boiling process.

Tasting Notes:

Complex aromas of candied orange peel, sweet wheat, yeasty bread, coriander, and other spices make for an outstanding start to this beer. On the palate, you’ll find notes of yeasty bready malts, caramel, lemon peels, coriander, candied orange peels, and cracked black pepper.

Bottom Line:

Fruity, sweet, yeasty, spicy, this is an extremely flavorful beer. It’s a great wheat beer for winter (and the rest of the year).

3.) St. Bernardus Abt 12

St. Bernardus Abt 12
St. Bernardus

ABV: 10%

Average Price: $24 for a four-pack

The Beer:

This 10% top-fermented quadrupel is St. Bernardus’ flagship beer for good reason. Brewed using the original 1946 recipe, it’s known for its balanced, sweet, fruity, lightly bitter flavor profile. It’s also one of the highest-rated beers in the world, Belgian or otherwise.

Tasting Notes:

A lot is going on with this beer’s nose. There are scents of banana peels, fruit esters, raisins, dates, tannic aromas, caramel malts, and light spices. Tasting it brings forth notes of chocolate, plums, dried cherries, cloves, butterscotch, brown bread, honey, and warming, boozy notes. The finish is semi-sweet and leaves you craving more.

Bottom Line:

This is a masterfully crafted beer. It’s highly rated for good reason. It has a perfect mix of sweetness, booze, and light bitterness.

2.) Delirium Tremens

Delirium Tremens
Delirium

ABV: 8.5%

Average Price: $20 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

There are few Belgian beers as well-known as Delirium Tremens. Brewed with three types of yeast as well as pale malt, it gets its hop presence from the use of Styrian Golding and Saaz hops. The result is a memorable, flavorful Belgian strong ale that’s beloved all over the world.

Tasting Notes:

Classic Belgian wheat beer aromas of banana, clove, bubblegum, orange peel, yeasty, and wheat begin your Delirium Tremens journey. Sipping it brings up notes of dried cherries, yeast, sweet wheat, lemongrass, candied orange peels, bubblegum, and wintry spices.

Bottom Line:

If you enjoy classic banana, clove, and other spices in your wheat beer, this is the beer for you.

1.) Saison Dupont

Saison Dupont
Saison Dupont

ABV: 6.5%

Average Price: $7 for a 375ml bottle

The Beer:

This 6.5% ABV Saison is one of the most popular, easy-to-find Belgian beers on the market. Brewed since 1844, it was originally crafted to be a beer imbibed by farm workers on hot summer days. This beer is brewed during the winter months before being fermented in wooden barrels during the spring. It’s known for its unfiltered, citrus, and fruit-forward flavor profile.

Tasting Notes:

Fruit, cloves, bananas, yeasty bread, fruit esters, dried fruit, and caramel malts make for a great, memorable nose. The palate is filled with flavors like yeasty bread, dried fruits, cloves, bananas, cloves, pepper, funk, straw, and grassy hops. The finish is crisp, dry, and flavorful.

Bottom Line:

If you only drink one Belgian beer on this list, make it Saison Dupont. Even though it drinks best during the hazy summer months, don’t wait. Drink it right now — it’s delicious!

Gen Zer’s teary video after going around town with a stack of resumes gets wave of support

It can be easy to write-off younger generations as entitled, lazy and unwilling to work hard, without taking into account the very real challenges being faced.

Just like their “whiny millennial” predecessors, Gen Zers often find themselves in this predicament—unable to land a job, much less one that reflects their personal values, all while being labeled as“difficult” for wanting something better.

But the truth is, even hard-working people are struggling right now. That goes for people who are employed (many of whom are living paycheck-to-paycheck, despite having well-paying jobs) and those looking for employment.

Job hunting is particularly grueling, as looming fears of recession have caused companies to make candidates go through more obstacles than a contestant on “American Ninja Warrior” just to get one interview. Followed by six more interviews. Followed by crickets.

With these types of barriers set in place, how is an age group, likely just out of college, with virtually no workplace experience, supposed to stand a chance? And furthermore, how can they not be distraught when their survival is on the line?

This is why a video shared by 26-year-old Lohanny Santos has struck a chord with so many.

In the clip, tears stream down Santos’ face after going around the city with a “stack” of resumes and being rejected by every potential employer she reached out to.

The college grad explained how she had two degrees—one in communications and one in acting—and spoke three languages. Not even this was enough to get her an interview.

“It’s honestly a little bit embarrassing because I’m literally applying for, like, minimum-wage jobs,” she says. “And some of them are being like, ‘We’re not hiring’ and it’s like, ‘What?’ This is not what I expected.”

Far from being entitled, Santos concluded the video by wiping her eyes and saying “ … I’m just going to keep trying.”

Luckily, this is where the story turns around. After her video went viral, with over 23.4 million views on TikTok, Santos received a wave of support from viewers.

“Never feel embarrassed. You should feel proud that you’re pushing your pride to the side and being realistic,” one person wrote, commenting on the fact that Santos had begun her job search after her aspirations for being a TikTok creator weren’t paying the bills.

“This is precisely how you apply for jobs before the internet. nothing to be embarrassed about as this gives you real world sales experience,” another added.

Some even provided some tips. One person suggested: “Don’t ask if they’re hiring. Just say you want to apply & speak to a hiring manager. Be assertive.”

“GIRL APPLY TO BE A FLIGHT ATTENDANT!!! BARELY AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED AND WITH THREE LANGUAGES THEY WILL WANT YOUU,” another exclaimed.

Not only that, But Santos revealed with Business Insider that her following skyrocketed overnight, that she was being offered opportunities not previously available. In a follow-up video, she even shared that she scored a brand deal.

A brand deal which…..may or may not have taken her out to London? Not a bad gig. And it certainly seems like those TikTok dreams aren’t so unattainable after all.

Most people want to be contributing members of society. But times are tough for a lot of folks out there, regardless of age, background and education. A little compassion, as we see here, does in fact go a long way.
