Taylor Swift Just Announced A New Version Of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ With An Addition That Has Swifties Buzzing

This morning (February 16), Taylor Swift started her run of Eras Tour concerts in Melbourne, Australia. She made opening night one to remember: During the show, Swift announced a new version of her upcoming album The Tortured Poets Department, which features a bonus track called “The Bolter.”

Swift then announced it on social media, sharing a poetic snippet that reads, “You don’t get to tell me about sad.”

The new edition of the album is currently available for pre-order on Swift’s website (on vinyl, cassette, and CD), but given the excitement around the release, who knows how long supplies will last.

Some fans have made a connection between the song title and the 2008 Frances Osborne book The Bolter: The Story Of Idina Sackville, Who Ran Away To Become The Chief Seductress Of Kenya’s Scandalous “Happy Valley Set”. A publisher’s summary of the book reads:

“In an age of bolters — women who broke the rules and fled their marriages — Idina Sackville was the most celebrated of them all. Her relentless affairs, wild sex parties, and brazen flaunting of convention shocked high society and inspired countless writers and artists, from Nancy Mitford to Greta Garbo. But Idina’s compelling charm masked the pain of betrayal and heartbreak.

Now Frances Osborne explores the life of Idina, her enigmatic great-grandmother, using letters, diaries, and family legend, following her from Edwardian London to the hills of Kenya, where she reigned over the scandalous antics of the ‘Happy Valley Set.’ Dazzlingly chic yet warmly intimate, The Bolter is a fascinating look at a woman whose energy still burns bright almost a century later.”

Beyond that, there’s also just a lot of general elation among the Swifties. Check out some reactions to the news below.

Ariana Grande Joins Forces With Her Idol Mariah Carey On A Fabulous New ‘Yes And?’ Remix

We are just a few weeks away from Ariana Grande‘s much-anticipated seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. The album’s lead single, the confident and dance-ready “Yes And?” has proven to be a hit among the Arianators. Since its release, Grande has shared that this will be the only single from Eternal Sunshine released until the album drops, however, she did say that she has some surprises in store. Tonight (February 16), Grande shared a remix of the song, featuring one of her biggest inspirations — Mariah Carey.

Carey delivers a special verse of her own, as she’s acquired so much wisdom with over three decades in the game.

“Now I’m so done with sharing / This hypocrisy with you / Baby, you have been rejected / Go back, no more pretending,” she sings.

Grande and Carey previously collaborated on a remix of Carey’s holiday single “Oh Santa!” back in 2020. Grande has long been vocal about her admiration for Carey. In an Instagram post announcing the “Yes, And?” remix, Grande called Carey her “lifelong inspiration.”

“thank you from the bottom of my heart for this dream come true and for sprinkling your brilliance and magic on my little song,” said Grande in the post’s caption. “it means more to me than i could ever possibly articulate.”

Tierra Whack Invites Us Into Her Mind On Her New Song, ’27 Club’

Tierra Whack never shies away from raw emotion. Ahead of her upcoming debut album, World Wide Whack, Whack has shared “27 Club,” her poignant, heartbreaking new single.

On “27 Club,” Whack details the dark thoughts that occasionally come to her mind. The song’s title itself refers to a group of musicians — which includes Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse — who died at 27 years old.

“When the world seems like it’s against you / When your friends and family forget you / It ain’t really hard to convince you /Looking for something to commit to?,” she sings on one of the song’s verses.

The song’s music video is expected to arrive later today (February 16). In a teaser clip for the video, Whack is seen in costume, with a stoic look on her face. She is carrying a mask made in the likeness of her face, however, the mask is smiling.

Last year, Whack spoke with Lil Yachty in a conversation for Rolling Stone. During their chat, Whack noted that she is not fazed by any sort of competition.

“If I’m just being myself and following my own path, I can’t see anything else,” said Whack. “I’m just focused on me and having fun and being myself.”

Charles Barkley And Shaq Kept Roasting Thanasis Antetokounmpo During ‘Shaqtin A Fool’

The Milwaukee Bucks suffered their latest loss on Thursday night since Doc Rivers took over for Adrian Griffin. Despite going up against a Memphis Grizzlies team that has needed to get creative to put together its roster due to injuries, Milwaukee suffered a 113-110 loss as it enters the All-Star break. Under Rivers, the team has accrued a 3-7 record.

Everyone in Milwaukee is going to have to do some soul searching during the break (perhaps while they’re sitting on a lovely beach in Cabo), but when they come back, they’re going to have to bear down and make a push in the Eastern Conference. And while that push happens, Thanasis Antetokounmpo will be there as one of the league’s premier vibes guys. The older brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis has become a bit of a punchline for only getting in late in games and not always looking especially great when he gets in. That second thing got him in Inside the NBA‘s “Shaqtin’ A Fool” segment this week, which led to a whole lot of jokes from Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal — head to the 1:50 mark of the below video for the clip.

Shaq went with a play on Giannis’ nickname by referring to Thanasis as “the Greek Bleak,” while Chuck joked that he has “better job security than a Supreme Court Justice,” which is a terrific line. The collection of clips in here weren’t exactly great, but to Barkley’s point, it sure seems like a safe bet that Antetokounmpo will be in Milwaukee for the remainder of the season no matter what.

Doc Rivers Said The Bucks Had ‘Some Guys In Cabo’ After Losing To The Grizzlies

The Milwaukee Bucks have not played well since Doc Rivers arrived on the scene, with their final game before the All-Star break being a particularly dismal performance, losing to the extremely shorthanded Grizzlies in Memphis.

With that loss, the Bucks fell to 3-7 with Rivers as head coach, as for every stride made defensively, the offense has tapered off in its place. There are always some growing pains with a coaching change, but for a team that was 32-14 when Rivers stepped in out of the ESPN booth, going 3-7 to fall well behind pace of the Celtics in the East was not supposed to happen. Thursday night’s loss was particularly jarring given their opponent, as the shorthanded Grizzlies are certainly frisky, but also outmanned by Milwaukee’s talent level.

However, the way to negate that is by outworking the other team and executing better, and that was certainly what Memphis did to Milwaukee. After the game, a less-than-thrilled Rivers called out his team, noting while some guys came to play, the Bucks had “some guys in Cabo,” a nod to the upcoming week vacation players are going to get.

Rivers may very well be right that the Bucks weren’t fully locked in for a game against the banged up Grizzlies right before the All-Star break, but it’s also part of his job to make sure they are. Rivers has never been shy about calling out his players publicly in past head coaching gigs, but it’s fair to wonder if he has the standing in the locker room right now for it to have the intended effect. A week off will require the Bucks to figure some things out — with Rivers coaching the All-Star Game with a losing record as head coach this season — and we’ll see if Rivers can get the buy-in required for them to turn things around this year. If not, Shaq’s postgame analysis could come true that they’ll be bounced in another first round series.

Brian Wilson Is Reportedly Suffering From Dementia, And His Family Intends To Place Him Under A Conservatorship

Beach Boys founder and singer Brian Wilson is reportedly suffering from dementia. According to documents obtained by The Blast, Wilson is being treated for dementia, and his team is currently seeking conservatorship.

The reported court filings note that Wilson “is unable to properly provide for his own personal needs for physical health, food, clothing, or shelter.” Wilson’s wife Melinda Kay Ledbetter Wilson, who died on January 30, 2024, was reportedly taking care of him up until her passing.

In the court filings, it is said that Wilson is experiencing “fear, depression, helplessness” to levels which are said to be “severely inappropriate.”

“[Wilson] is easily distracted, often even when aware of surroundings, and its purpose. Often makes spontaneous irrelevant or incoherent utterances. Has very short attention span and while unintentionally disruptive, is frequently unable to maintain decorum appropriate to the situation,” read the filings.

Wilson is reported to be “slow the progression of the illness.”

Wilson’s family confirmed the plans of a conservatorship in a statement, which reads:

“Following the passing of Brian’s beloved wife Melinda, after careful consideration and consultation among Brian, his seven children, Gloria Ramos and Brian’s doctors (and consistent with family processes put in place by Brian and Melinda), we are confirming that longtime Wilson family representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers will serve as Brian’s co-conservators of the person.

This decision was made to ensure that there will be no extreme changes to the household and Brian and the children living at home will be taken care of and remain in the home where they are cared for by Gloria Ramos and the wonderful team at the house who have been in place for many years helping take care of the family.

Brian will be able to enjoy all of his family and friends and continue to work on current projects as well as participate in any activities he chooses.”

Wilson had previously been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder, which is said to have worsened over time. He is reportedly taking medication to slow the progression of dementia.

A conservatorship hearing is set to take place in court of April 26, 2024.

‘God, what if I was 15?’: Julia Roberts responds to being shamed in a photo with her niece

Actress Julia Roberts was late to the game when it came to joining social media, so she was blown away when she finally saw first-hand how toxic it could be. She started an Instagram account in June of 2018 and, shortly after, was the target of trolls mocking her appearance in a post by her niece.

Roberts was upset about the negative comments people made about her looks and then was gutted when she considered social media’s effect on young women. In a 2018 interview with Oprah Winfrey for Harper’s Bazaar, Julia recounted the story.

“Although something did happen recently on my niece Emma’s Instagram that I think taught me a lot about what it’s like being a young person in today’s society. One weekend morning Emma slept over, and we got up and were having tea and playing cards and having this beautiful morning, and then a couple of days later, she posted a picture of us,” Roberts recalled.

“And the number of people who felt absolutely required to talk about how terrible I looked in the picture—that I’m not aging well, that I look like a man, why would she even post a picture like this when I look that terrible!” she continued. “And I was amazed at how that made me feel. I’m a 50-year-old woman and I know who I am, and still my feelings got hurt. I was sad that people couldn’t see the point of it, the sweetness of it, the absolute shining joy of that photo. I thought, ‘What if I was 15?’”

Beauty influencer Samantha Marika combined the audio of Julia telling the story, added it to the candid photo of her and Emma, and posted it to Instagram, and it went viral.

Julia’s concerns about teenage mental health aren’t unfounded.

A 2022 report by Pew Research shows that online bullying is pervasive among teenagers and looks are a common target. “Nearly half of U.S. teens have been bullied or harassed online, with physical appearance being seen as a relatively common reason why,” the report said. “Older teen girls are especially likely to report being targeted by online abuse overall and because of their appearance.”

Even though online bullying is common, those who watched Marika’s video were disturbed by what happened to Roberts and her young niece.

“Before I listened to the whole thing I thought to myself how wholesome this photo was that the two of them are playing cards and look so happy! People are really sad and depressed that they wanna judge on how someone should look it’s the saddest thing about humans. We can’t even see joy anymore,” ChantsBoomBoom wrote in the comments.

Even though Roberts was disturbed by the comments she saw on Instagram, she’s glad that it helped her grasp what’s happening to young people online.

“I was so happy that happened because I had this whole new glimpse into a way of living that I didn’t get at all,” she told Winfrey. “You have to go through things to understand them, and this was just a little paper cut of what can really go on with social media.”

George Kittle Couldn’t Recover A Fumble During The Super Bowl Because He Was Saying Hi To George Karlaftis, Who Recovered It

george kittle

Super Bowl LVIII started with the San Francisco 49ers marching down the field and getting deep into Kansas City territory. It did not, however, end with points, as Christian McCaffrey fumbled on the fifth play of the drive.

Points there would have been really big, because the Niners ended up leaving a whole lot of points on the board in the first half, which let Kansas City hang around despite not being at its best. As it turns out, San Francisco got a little unlucky with the fumble, as the cameras and a mic caught star tight end George Kittle — who has a reputation for being one of the league’s most upbeat and fun loving guys — slowing down for just a tick to say hi to Chiefs defensive lineman George Karlaftis. The problem: The fumble happened right next to them, and Karlaftis is actually the one who ended up falling on it.

Again, this is more bad luck than anything for Kittle — I do not know for sure, but I would venture to guess that he does this on opening drives all the time. It would have taken one hell of a play for him to realize there was a fumble behind him and fall on it. But regardless, the next time you think of the insane ways that the Chiefs manage to make big plays in big moments in big games, here’s one for you to remember.

Why Was Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s ‘Vultures 1’ Removed From Apple Music?

No Kanye West project ever comes without controversy. His Ty Dolla Sign joint album Vultures 1 is no different. Today (February 15), Vultures 1 was removed from Apple Music.

The album arrived last Friday (February 9) following numerous delays. However, according to a spokesperson from music distributing company FUGA, the company was never supposed to drop the album.

Why was Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 Removed From Apple Music?

In a statement to Billboard, a spokesperson for FUGA said the company never officially agreed to distribute the album.

“Late last year, FUGA was presented with the opportunity to release Vultures 1. Exercising our judgment in the ordinary course of business, we declined to do so. On Friday, February 9, 2024, a long-standing FUGA client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes, violating our service agreement. Therefore, FUGA is actively working with its DSP partners and the client to remove Vultures 1 from our systems.”

This isn’t the only controversy the album has faced in the days since its release. Both Ozzy Osbourne and the estate of Donna Summer have said that West had previously asked to sample or interpolate works of theirs, however, they both denied. West used the samples anyway.

Since the album’s initial removal, Billboard has reported that the album is now back on Apple Music, now distributed through Label Engine.

Representatives for Label Engine, Apple Music, and Ty Dolla Sign did not immediately return our request for comment.

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Caitlin Clark Broke Kelsey Plum’s Career Scoring Record

Peacock

Caitlin Clark’s pursuit of history reached its successful conclusion on Thursday night. The fourth-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes played host to the Michigan Wolverines, with the reigning National Player of the Year needing only eight points to surpass Kelsey Plum’s NCAA women’s basketball scoring record.

Clark managed to get that right away, as she scored the first eight points of Iowa’s game against the Wolverines. She managed to break the record by pulling up from well beyond the three-point line and drilling a triple.

Plum set the record in 2017 during her senior year as a member of the Washington Huskies. The Las Vegas Aces star and former No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft accrued 3,527 points in her decorated collegiate career.

Clark came close to breaking the record during Iowa’s last game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln. She entered the game needing 39 points to surpass Plum, and while she managed to score 31 through the first three quarters, the Husker defense threw everything it had at Clark and held her scoreless in the fourth en route to an upset. This did, however, make it so Clark was able to set the record on her own home floor at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, although she did have one request about the occasion.

“I hope they don’t stop the game,” Clark said, according to Cassandra Negley of Yahoo Sports. “We can’t be wasting timeouts on that, come on now.”
