Billie Eilish Took Us For A Walk Down Memory Lane In Her ‘What Was I Made For?’ Performance On ‘SNL’

In the final Saturday Night Live episode of 2023, Billie Eilish made a TK return as tonight’s musical guest. During her first performance of the night, the prolific recording artist delivered a TK rendition of her Barbie soundtrack anthem, “What Was I Made For?”

While on stage, Eilish delivered hauntingly beautiful vocals — surpassing the forlornness and intimacy of the studio recording. She was joined by her brother, Finneas, whose piano accompaniment made the song all the more personal.

Midway through the song, clips from Eilish and Finneas’ family home videos played in a montage in the background, showing footage from her childhood, juxtaposed as Eilish ponders her existence through song.

It’s been a while since Eilish has dropped an album. Her most recent project Happier Than Ever dropped in 2021. But Barbie‘s “What Was I Made For?” proved to be a buzzy hit this year, receiving many accolades and much acclaimed.

The song “What Was I Made For?,” along with its writers Eilish and Finneas, is nominated for five Grammy Awards at the 2024 ceremony, including Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best Song Written For Visual Media.

Billie Eilish Sang Her Cares Away In A Smooth Performance Of ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

In her second performance of the night on the Saturday Night Live stage, Billie Eilish brought in some Christmas spirts. Once again joined by her brother, Finneas, Eilish delivered a smooth, jazzy version of the holiday classic, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

Dressed in red, Eilish maintained the intimate mood she set with her previous performance of “What Was I Made For?” The stage was decorated in bright lights and jolly colors, with snowflakes falling upon Eilish midway through her performance.

Though Eilish only dropped one song this past year, both of her performances made for a special gift for the fans this holiday season.

It’s been over two years since Eilish dropped her last album, Happier Than Ever, but fans might not have to wait too long for new music. In an interview on The Tonight Show Starting Jimmy Fallon, Eilish teased her upcoming third studio album.

Eilish revealed that she is “almost done” with the project, prompting Fallon to ask for more details. Eilish kept mum, but teased that fans will know more info in due time.

“At some point you will know more, but I’m not going to say anything else,” Eilish said.

Leon Edwards Defeated Colby Covington To Retain The Welterweight Belt At UFC 296

Leon Edwards (22-3) defeated Colby Covington (17-4) by unanimous decision to retain the Welterweight Championship at UFC 296 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The first round began with Edwards measured and composed circling around Covington. The challenger tossed a few casual leg kicks, but played an unorthodox opening to the fight as he sat back and waiting for Edwards to strike. Edwards cut the cage off for Covington, finding opportunities for left and right hooks while the challenger eventually went for an unsuccessful takedown. Edwards remained untested to close the first.

Covington upped the tempo to open the second, but Edwards quickly put him a step back with a snapping hook. Midway through the round, both fighters stood in a stalemate, with neither able to make much progress. A welt began to develop on Covington’s front leg from Edwards’ repeated leg kicks. Edwards continued to chip away with a swiping head kick, moving back to the body, then the head again. Edwards backed Covingiton against the cage, then hit another leg kick as Covington winced.

Between rounds, Covington’s corner urged him to up the pressure after a lackluster first two rounds. Covington pressed to open the third, but Edwards settled back into bringing the fight to the challenger. Edwards snapped another leg kick that made the challenger take an additional step. Covington shot in against the cage, was able to slide Edwards off to the side and took him to the mat. Edwards exploded up, then moved in for a takedown of Covington. He stood up and allowed Covington back to his feet before pressing forward with leg kicks, jabs, and body shots.

Covington opened the fourth with another takedown attempt, but Edwards caught him and nearly choked him out from a standing position. Edwards continued to chip away with a straight kick to the body, a straight left, then a leg kick. Covington shot in for another takedown, but was unsuccessful. Covington answered with a big left hand, then followed with another straight left. He hit Edwards with another straight shot, then went for a takedown against the cage with about a minute left in the round. Edwards scrambled with Covington, then got low and flipped Covington over his back, allowing him back to his feet before the end of the round.

In the fifth and final round, Edwards again walked down Covington, immediately targeting a head kick. Covington shot for a takedown and was successful, moving to take Edwards back, but the champ got back to his feet and earned yet another takedown of Covington. He took the challenger’s back before Covington flipped and Edwards had a chance for a triangle choke. Covington flipped out to take control on the ground. From side control, Covington did everything he could to earn points, punching at the champ’s side before the buzzer rang.

Edwards won the belt in 2022 with a last-minute knockout of Kamaru Usman. He followed that up with a decision victory over Usman in their sequel earlier this year before moving onto Covington.

Covington suffered a 2019 knockout by Usman and has been a bit up and down since. In 2020, he knocked out former champion Tyron Woodley, lost a decision bout to Usman in 2021, then earned a decision victory over Jorge Masvidal in 2022.

Kate McKinnon Brought It ‘Home For Christmas’ In Her ‘Saturday Night Live’ Opening Monologue On Her Festive Return As Host

In the final episode of Saturday Night Live of 2023, a special guest returned in pure holiday fashion. Kate McKinnon was tonight’s host — marking her first time returning to the stage since her departure from the SNL cast in 2022.

Since leaving SNL, McKinnon has been pretty busy. This past summer, she starred as Weird Barbie in Barbie. She jokingly shared that she arrived on set and was told she looked perfect for her part, to which she replied, “these are my clothes.”

She continued celebrating her homecoming singing a special rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” reminding us that she’s never to far away to return to the iconic live comedy sketch show, where she performed as a cast member for a decade.

“I’ll be home for Christmas / I live close, it’ll be easy for me / Feed me figs and make me wigs / Reactivate my ID,” McKinnon sang. She then revealed she still has her NBC ID card, and showed off the picture she took when she first starting working for SNL.

Toward the end of her monologue, she was joined by fellow SNL alumni Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph — who shared all the reasons the three had to celebrate (with help from Wikipedia, of course).

Jason Momoa Isn’t Sounding So Confident That He’ll Play Aquaman Again

aquaman
warner bros.

People weren’t expecting much from the first solo movie, and look what happened: It was a much-needed smash back when the DCEU was pure chaos. (Unlike now, of course.) The sequel may not be so lucky. Behind-the-scenes talk has not been chill, including some meddling from a certain controversial social media dude. (Returning director James Wan has insisted that’s all been blown out of proportion.) Still, not even its star is confident he’ll be back for a threequel.

“The truth of it is, I mean, if the audience loves it, then there’s a possibility,” Jason Momoa told Entertainment Weekly. “But right now, I’m like, ‘It’s not looking too good.’”

Indeed, when new DCEU honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their list of upcoming titles, a third Aquaman was not on there. That doesn’t mean Momoa is out with the comics house. Like erstwhile Superman Henry Cavill, he could be back as another, non-aquatic character.

That said, the underseas guy’s not done yet, and Momoa’s still excited about his new adventures.

“I love this character and [I would want to] play it for a long time,” said Momoa. “I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, like, there’s a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it.

“If there’s a place in their world for me, I would love to be a part of it,” Momoa added. “This is my home. Warner and DC is definitely my home. So, that’s all I’ll say.”

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on December 22.

‘British Bake-off’ judges sample American snacks. Their favorite might surprise you.

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, renowned hosts of the beloved “British Bake-off” show (as well as its predecessor “The Great American Baking Show”) have sampled some of the best, most indulgent, most artistically crafted sweet and savory treats imaginable. They’ve built entire careers off of knowing what tastes good, and what doesn’t.

So when put against their expert taste buds, how might our everyday American snacks fare? Would they gag over a Twinkie? Would they prefer Snicker’s to Reeces? Could they handle the heat of Flaming Hot Cheetos? Which snack would be crowned champion?

These were the questions that Bon Appétit aimed to answer in a video posted to Youtube that has every bit of delight that all “Bake-off” fans have come to expect.

Hollywood and Leith traded their usual buffet of fancy focaccia and triple chocolate fairy houses for a sampling of typical American goodies. Each one would be graded on its texture, flavor, uniqueness, and whether it left the judges wanting another one. Or “more-ish”-ness as Leith put it.

The funnest part about this video is seeing the judges, who brought phrases like “soggy bottom” into the mainstream, applying their extensive culinary vocabulary onto such mundane items. As one viewer joked, “never thought I’d hear anyone describe Doritos as “subtle, layered, interesting, and quite pure.”

Watch:

Paul Hollywood & Prue Leith Pick The Best Snack In America | Bon Appétit

Among their least favorites were Ho-ho’s and Cheez-Its, both accused of being “boring,” as well as Cheeseballs, Reeses and Pop-tarts, which they’d both only eat if they were starving, apparently.

Ultimately, it came down to Doritos’ versus Oreos, with Doritos finally winning it all for being the most “interesting” and the most likely to want more of after one bite.

But really, people were less interested in which snack would win, and more entertained by watching these two do what they do best: talk about food.

“What a great idea for a video! This was wholesome, cute and funny to watch. Love Paul and Prue!”

“I love the sophistication they use to describe these junk food snacks.”

“I have never heard anyone be so articulate in explaining American snacks. It was a breath of fresh air.”

“They should be reviewing everything 😂love it.”

If you haven’t watched “The Great British Baking Show” yet, it’s every bit as lovely as this video. Do yourself a favor and head on over to Netflix to start binging. Don’t watch hungry though.

Juice WRLD, Eminem, & Benny Blanco’s ‘Lace It’ Song Is A Grim Examination Of Drug Addiction’s Lethal Grip

Accidental deaths involving drug use have sky-rocketed around the world. This tragic epidemic has been especially noticeable in hip-hop. On Saturday, December 16,Eminem and Benny Blanco latest single, which features a posthumous feature from the late Juice Wrld, dives into this heartbreaking reality.

On “Lace It,” the musicians paint a picture of drug addiction’s lethal grip worldwide that led to Juice WRLD’s death in 2019. Eminem has spoken about his recovery across several projects, and in his verse, he turns his attention to the younger generation seeking help:

“Tried to kill me then you murdered Jarad didn’t you / Piece of sh*t thanks to you now we lost Gangsta Boo and Pimp C, Prince, and Michael / Mixing Nyquil with prescription Vic’s addiction’s like a f*cking vicious cycle / Juice we will forever miss you / To the younger generation, I ain’t lecturing you but man just be careful when you.”

Benny Blanco took to his official Instagram to share a touching note about the track. “People always say things like ‘This song means a lot to me’ or ‘It changed my life’ when discussing a piece of music they’re listening to,” he wrtoe. “‘Lace It’ truly gives that a new meaning to me because the day we recorded was also the last time I ever saw Juice. Every day, that moment gets further away, and I’d trade this or any other song we did to have him back.”

RFK Jr. Got Busted Live On CNN After He Claimed He Didn’t Say Something About Vaccines That He Totally Did

Robert F. Kennedy Jr

Robert F. Kennedy has plenty of kooky ideas. Now that he’s a presidential candidate, he probably doesn’t want the general public to know about some of them. A few months back he tried to claim he didn’t spout some hooey about COVID being a bioweapon designed to spare Jewish and Chinese people — despite footage existing showing him saying just that. Now he’s once again trying to deny he said something he definitely did.

Per Mediaite, Kennedy went on CNN Friday, where host Kasie Hunt asked him about a quote he said over the summer, namely, “There’s no vaccine that is, you know, safe and effective.”

“I never said that,” Kennedy responded. But Hunt was ready.

”So, stop me. We have the clip. Please play the clip,” she said, prompting a nervous Kennedy to beg her to “play the whole clip.”

She did. Here’s what he said during an appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast:

FRIDMAN: You’ve talked about that the media slanders you by calling you an anti-vaxxer. And you’ve said that you’re not anti-vaccine, you’re pro-safe vaccine. Difficult question: Can you name any vaccines that you think are good?

KENNEDY: I think some of the live virus vaccines are probably averting more problems than they’re causing. There’s no vaccine that is, you know, safe and effective.

When Hunt asked Kennedy if he still believed that, he replied, “First of all, I’m not anti-vaccine…”
“How is that statement not anti-vaccine?” Hunt pressed.

“Well, I can say right now there’s no medicine for cancer that’s safe and effective. It doesn’t mean I’m against all medicines,” he said. He continued:

I’ve been fighting 40 years to get mercury out of fish. Nobody calls me anti-fish. What I want are vaccines that are proven safe. And, what I meant, which was a bad use of words, is, none of the vaccines that’s currently on the mandated schedule for children, the 72 vaccines, have ever been studied in a pre-licensing safety study. What that means is, we do not know what the risk profile is for those products, and you cannot prove or say with any scientific certainty that those products are causing —

“So, you’re saying that you still believe that no vaccines are safe and effective?” Hunt asked.

“No!” Kennedy replied. “What I’m saying is, none of the 72 vaccines has ever been tested in a safety study.”

Well, maybe he’s a better husband than a science-understander.
