Karol G is bringing her Mañana Será Bonito Tour to yet another part of the globe. In August, the “Mi Ex Tenía Razón” singer embarked on a seven-date run across the United States. Come February 2024, Karol G will travel between South and Central America for weeks of sold-out performances. On Monday, December 11, she unveiled a whole new set of dates for her European wing.

The trailer is as adorable as the cutesy handwritten note that teased the tracklist for Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season). Landmarks from the countries scheduled for the live show appeared on the screen, festooned with cartoon versions of Karol G, rainbows, and more are sprinkled throughout.

“Europe! In 2019, it was the last time we saw each other. It would be nice to see you in the summertime,” wrote Karol G in the caption. “Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherlands, England, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Spain… I’m FINALLY going to see you.”

Tickets for the European leg of Karol G’s 2024 Mañana Será Bonito Tour go on sale for the general public on December 15. Find more information here.

David Hyde Pierce Revealed The Reason Why He Turned Down Doing The ‘Frasier’ Revival

Frasier Niles David Hyde Pierce
NBC

The Frasier revival hit Paramount+ in October, and the reviews aren’t great. Surely it doesn’t help that it’s so different. Kelsey Grammer’s Dr. Crane is back in Boston, but so far only one Cheers alum — Bebe Neuwirth’s Lilith, aka his ex-wife — has shown up. Only one original Frasier cast member has made an appearance, too: Peri Gilpin’s Roz. And where’s his brother, Niles? The answer for that one is that David Hyde Pierce, the actor who portrayed him, didn’t want to do it. Now he’s opening up about why.

In a chat with The Los Angeles Times (as caught by The Daily Beast), Pierce said he was basically too busy.

“I had just started on the Julia TV show and was working on a musical and going to do another musical,” the actor said. “…And I just thought, ‘I don’t want to be committed to a show and not be able to do stuff like this.’”

The works Pierce is referring to are, in order, the Julia Child show for Max; the musical The Visitor, staged at New York’s Public Theatre in 2021; and Here We Are, the final work from the late Stephen Sondheim, which bowed Off-Broadway this fall.

His schedule wasn’t the only reason he turned Frasier 2.0 down.

“I also thought, ‘They don’t actually need me,’” Pierce said. “Frasier has moved on to a new world. They have new characters. And I think I’m right. It’s doing great. And the new people they have are great.”

Pierce clarified that he wasn’t always opposed to the idea.

“It’s not like I said, ‘Oh, I don’t ever want to do that again,’” Pierce explained. “I loved every moment. It was that I wanted to do other things.”

Back when the Frasier revival first dropped, its showrunners said they had discussed the show with him. They even had a concept: the two brothers open a black box theater. Alas:

We talked to David Hyde Pierce a couple of times. He was in a tough position. Everybody wants to see him as Niles, but he doesn’t want to step back into those shoes. He felt like he didn’t have anything new to bring to the character. He read versions and gave us notes and thoughts, and he acknowledged it was funny and we found the tone the original did so well. It just wasn’t for him.

In the meantime, those who want to see David Hyde Pierce being very funny can see him in New York City, performing in the last-ever Sondheim musical.

Pink’s ‘What About Us’ hits different when it’s being sung by children

When Pink released “What About Us” in 2017, the U.S. was at one of its most intense political moments. Donald Trump had been inaugurated as president of the United States, the Women’s March swept cities throughout the world, the infamous Charlottesville neo-Nazi rally happened, the Las Vegas mass shooting happened and tensions within the country were high.

Pink told Vulture that the day she wrote the song was “just another day I was angry about what’s happening in the world.” But the song doesn’t have an angry feel—it’s a ballad, but not quite. It’s a protest song giving voice to the world’s marginalized people, but it plays like a heartbreak song.

“I think it’s a beautiful song,” Pink shared. “It feels good in my body, number one. And it says everything I needed to say.”

When you listen to the lyrics as an adult posing a plea to the powers that be, it’s powerful. But when you hear it being sung by children as an anthem to the adults of the world, it’s a whole different animal.

The One Voice Children’s Choir sang a cover of “What About Us” that has been viewed 18 million times on YouTube and brought countless people to tears.

Under the direction of the choir’s founder and director, Masa Fukuda, the children sing lines like “What about us? What about all the times you said you had the answers?” and “What about us? What about all the broken happy ever afters?”

Oof. Every line of the song hits different when it’s sung by kids. It conjures up the hard emotions we feel when the latest mass shooting happens in a school, when we see children paying the price of adult wars, when kids who go to school hungry are denied lunch because their parents can’t afford it. It reminds us of all the ways adults have failed to protect children.

Watch and see how the lyrics sound when kids sing them.

People have been moved by the performance.

One commenter quoted Fred Rogers: “Listen to the children, learn about them, learn from them. Think of the children first.”

“A cry from the defenseless, begging the rest of us not to forget them. Real touching. When I feel lonely and sad, I listen to OVCC because I know they’ll cheer me up every time. And they do. God bless you guys. Keep it up. Thank you,” wrote another.

“This is just…wow. I mean, this song is already so intense. I didn’t think anything could surpass the original version of it, and yet…I mean, there’s so much. They’re children, so it makes the whole song even more poignant, and also their voices, such beautiful voices. Makes one want to cry, and scream and just…yeah,” shared another.

People throughout the comments described the goosebumps and tears the video prompted, not only from the message of the song but from the impressive performance of the kids. Their singing talents and the emotion they poured into it made the song even more impactful. Absolutely beautifully done.

People think something really important is missing from William and Kate’s Christmas card

The British royal family is used to being under intense scrutiny, whether it’s the relationship between King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The rocky relationship that Prince Harry and Megan Markle have with the rest of their family or the numerous scandals involving Prince Andrew.

For a family forced to take public perception very seriously, it’s interesting to note that there is something rather strange about this year’s Christmas card from the Prince and Princess of Wales and that it wasn’t flagged before the photo was relased.

At first glance, the family appears in good spirits, with big smiles in matching white button-downs, denim pants and black slacks. However, there seems to be something seriously wrong with Prince Louis’ left hand.

Royal watchers on social media say that the photo makes it look like the 5-year-old is missing his middle finger.

A lot of folks sounded off on the mysteriously missing appendage on X.

X user Yellow Rose of Texas highlighted the hand to give people a more precise look at what was going on with Prince Louis.

There are various reasons why Louis’ finger appears to be missing in the photograph. His middle and ring fingers are spread far apart, exposing the skin between them. If this is the case, Louis must have some rather flexible appendages.

Others believe his thumb is tucked on the underside of the chair. This makes sense, but Louis has to have some pretty flexible fingers for this scenario to be correct.

As we saw above, others believe that the missing finger is a Photoshop failure or a mistake created by artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is known for having a hard time creating images of fingers. If it was a Photoshop fail, it’s not the first time the royal family has been accused of using digital photo editing software on its family photos.

Last April, numerous people accused the Prince and Princess of Wales of sharing a Photoshopped image of Queen Elizabeth and her grandchildren on what would have been her 97th birthday. Many suggested that Prince Louis was digitally altered in the shot.

It’s fitting that Prince Louis would be the subject of such goofy or, as the English would call it, barmy, speculation. Louis is known for having a mischievous side. The young prince showed off his personality during King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation celebrations earlier this year, where he was caught making funny faces and yawning at inappropriate times during the ceremonies.

“He’s a cheeky monkey — a typical third child,” a source close to People told the magazine recently. “It’s nice that the world got to see him enjoying himself.”

Regardless of whether the photo results from a Photoshop failure or a member of the royal family having very nimble fingers, what’s interesting is that nobody on the Prince of Wales’ team noticed Louis’ hand and retook the photo or fixed it with digital editing. Or, it could be a great example of the royal family beginning to lighten up after all these years of public scrutiny.

Olivia Rodrigo’s In-Studio Tiny Desk Concert Was The Gutsy Performance That We’ve All Craved

When Olivia Rodrigo first broke through, the world was in the middle of a pandemic. Now, she’s traveling the globe to share her music with supporters in person. Next month, her Guts World Tour will officially launch in Palm Springs. As a special treat, the “All American B*tch” singer dropped into the studios of NPR Music to give viewers a taste of what’s to come on the road. Alongside her fellow musicians — drummer Hayley Brownell, bassist Moa Munoz, and guitarist Daisy Spencer — Rodrigo delivered a gutsy performance.

This is Rodrigo’s second time playing for the platform. Back in 2021, her set was not filmed in the studio due to pandemic lockdown restrictions. After opening with her song, “Live Is Embarrassing,” she reflected on that very different time.

“We did one of these two years ago, but it was knee-deep in the pandemic,” Rodrigo recalled. “So, we did it at the [Department of Motor Vehicles], actually. But it is much cooler to be here [in the NPR headquarters]. I was saying earlier that I’ve never been star-struck by a room before.”

The remainder of the set included tracks “Vampire,” “Lacy,” and “Making The Bed,” which at points included background singers Ashley Morgan, Elizabeth Gaba, and Julia Gartha.

Trump Says He Was Just ‘Joking’ Around About That Whole Being A Dictator On ‘Day One’ Thing

trump

Every now and then the Donald Trump accidentally lets slip the truth. The famously truth-adverse former president once admitted he lost the 2020 election. Recently he blurted out that he’s “waging an all-out war on democracy.” And last week he said, if re-elected, he would be a dictator, if only on the first day of his new presidency. As Maya Angelou famously said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.” She probably meant that even if they later said they were joking. Sure enough, that’s what Trump has now done.

Per Raw Story, after Trump’s dictator line inevitably fueled scores of alarmist headlines, the big guy took to his rinky-dink Twitter clone to play damage control, trying to defend it like he did his many recent brain farts. This one was even less convincing.

“Fake News writer Peter ‘Obama’ Baker of the Failing New York Times … just wrote, in a major, front page story, that I want to be a Dictator,” Trump steamed. “But doesn’t mention it was said in a joking manner, and completed with ‘but only for a day, because I’m going to close the Border, and DRILL, DRILL, DRILL,’ a much different attitude and meaning!”

It’s worth noting that Trump didn’t actually deny what he said at last week’s town hall. In fact, despite calling it “fake news,” he even repeated his claims that he would be a dictator, if only to ram through two things that would require more than a presidential edict to enact.

During the town hall that birthed this quote, Sean Hannity, who moderated (and was the only one who asked any questions), tried very hard to give Trump the softball version of the question, asking him, “Under no circumstances, you are promising America tonight, you would never abuse power as retribution against anybody?”

The correct answer to this, of course, is no. Trump couldn’t even do that.

“Except for day one,” he replied. He then mocked Hannity, who was visibly horrified that he failed this basic test. He then added, “I want to close the border and I want to drill, drill, drill.”

Hannity tried to play clean-up, saying, “That’s not retribution,”

“We love this guy,” he said, mocking him some more. “He says, ‘You’re not gonna be a dictator, are you?’ I said, ‘No, no, no, other than day one.’ We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator, okay?”

Even while trying to spin this exchange, Trump only wound up doubling down. Luckily it’s not like dictators ever grow tired of being dictators and go back to normal. If Democrats were smart they’d play that clip every hour until Election Day 2024.

Kid Rock’s Support Of Bud Light Has Resumed After His Publicly Announced Boycott: ‘I Think They Got The Message’

Kid Rock Tucker Carlson Encounter 2023 screenshot
The Tucker Carlson Network

In April, Bud Light partnered with several public figures to help market the brand’s Easy Carry contest. One of those spotlighted in the campaign was trans activist Dylan Mulvaney. While folks like Garth Brooks applauded the company’s effort for inclusion, others weren’t as receptive. Travis Tritt and Kid Rock were among the detractors.

Although Kid Rock went to such vile extremes to shoot up cans of the product, he was reportedly spotted drinking a Bud Light. Also, his Nashville bar was supposedly still offering the beer to customers. On Sunday, December 10, Kid Rock formally announced that he had lifted his personal ban on the business during an interview with Tucker Carlson.

When asked about the matter, he said, “At the end of the day, when you step back and look at it, like, yeah, they deserved a black eye, and they got one. They made a mistake. So, do I want to hold their head underwater and drown them because they made a mistake? No, I think they got the message.”

He continued, “Hopefully, other companies get it too, but, at the end of the day, I don’t think the punishment that they’ve been getting at this point fits the crime. I would like to see us back on board and become bigger because that’s the America that I want to live in.”

Cecily Strong Reportedly Backed Out Of Returning To ‘SNL’ For A Sketch Because It Left Her ‘Uncomfortable’

Cecily Strong left SNL last year after a decade, making her the longest tenured female cast member in the show’s long history. During her lengthy stint, she was no stranger to playing obnoxious far right characters. Perhaps her most famous impersonation was of Jeanine Pirro, whom she depicted as a boozy, braying maniac prone to spilling red wine everywhere. She was supposed to play another MAGA maniac on the most recent episode. But when the sketch went on-air she’d mysteriously been replaced by newish cast member Chloe Troast.

What happened? A report by The New York Post delves into what happened behind the scenes of the night’s Cold Open, which as usual tackled politics. This one was more chaotic than most. It covered the ongoing issue involving college campus protests of Israel’s war with Hamas. It’s a powder keg situation, and in rehearsals Strong was to play New York representative Elise Stefanik, who last week railed against three university presidents, one of whom has since resigned.

Alas, Strong pulled out at the “last minute,” says a source, who claimed she was “uncomfortable with the sketch.”

As such, Troast stepped in at the 11th hour to play Stefanik as yet another over-the-top Trump minion, telling academic leaders that “hate speech has no place on college campuses.” Instead, she yelled, “Hate speech belongs in Congress, on Elon Musk’s Twitter, in private dinners with my donors, and in public speeches by my work husband, Donald Trump.”

Had Strong done the sketch, it would have been her first time returning to the show since leaving.
