A Cowboy Christmas Romance stars Jana Kramer as Lexie Crenshaw, a big-city real estate agent who — you’ll never believe it — returns to her small hometown around the holidays. While there, she meets a Yellowstone-like rancher named Coby (Adam Senn), who she has to convince to sell his property. Would you believe these mismatched opposites fall for each other?
Lexie also falls into a pile of hay in the history-making sex scene.
Technically, the flirtation begins with Coby lifting Lexie up onto a kitchen counter so they can make out, but when they’re interrupted, they find sexy solitude in a barn. Coby dramatically takes off his shirt in front of an impressed Lexie (“Merry Christmas to me”), who is sitting on the dirty, hay-covered ground. He moves her to what looks like a massage table, but just as they’re ready to knock (cowboy) boots, the action cuts to the next morning. Even the Helen Lovejoys that make up the Parents Television Council wouldn’t be able to find anything objectionable about A Cowboy Christmas Romance.

“When I saw the stuff in the kitchen,” A Cowboy Christmas Romance writer Sarah Drew told Entertainment Weekly about the scene, “I was like, ‘Exactly what I wrote. You nailed it. You guys are in it. I am thrilled.’ I had it written in my stage direction: He hoists her onto the countertop. He moves things out of the way. Like, go in there. Go in!”
Leave the World Behind is now streaming on Netflix, and viewers have been taking to social media to voice one very specific complaint about the apocalyptic thriller starring Julia Roberts: It’s too damn long.
Directed by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail, the film centers on Roberts and Ethan Hawke as a husband and wife whose vacation is disrupted by Mahershala Ali bearing news of terrifying cyberattack. While the premise has a compelling hook, even positive reviews for Leave the World Behind that this thing is long. With a runtime of two hours and 21 minutes, viewers seem to think the film could’ve used some editing even if they mostly liked it.
“Enjoyed this year’s Xmas apocalypse from Netflix (Leave the World Behind),” Chris Humphreys wrote. “A small film, with a real sense of foreboding. As all too common, too long.”
Enjoyed this year’s Xmas apocalypse from Netflix (Leave the World Behind). A small film, with a real sense of foreboding. As all too common, too long. No issue with the ending. Good (perhaps not intended) joke about the colour options of a certain EV too.
“It’s a suspenseful, engaging view that was perhaps stretched a lil too long,” MALI wrote. “It will grow on you, and then you might get tired of it. However, it’s worth the watch cuz the performance was brilliant.”

Watched leave the world behind and almost turned it off 10 times, was way too long but interesting and the ending smh…. Wasn’t bad just sad and disappointing for the characters lol
Watched Leave the World Behind and it was eh. Overly long. Unlikeable characters and left too many unanswered questions. Good premise and themes with some good suspense moments tho. 6/10
Do not watch Leave the World Behind on Netflix. It’s way too long, confusing, goes nowhere, has nothing but red herring, and the ending is a slap in the face. Avoid.
4 out of 10 is what the film Leave the World Behind deserves on @netflix . A film that is too long and movie that longs for better writing and directing and the worst ending in film history. It started out well and fell apart. Don’t waste your 2 hours.
Amanda (Academy Award winner Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke), rent a luxurious home for the weekend with their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). Their vacation is soon upended when two strangers — G.H. (Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la Herrold) — arrive in the night, bearing news of a mysterious cyberattack and seeking refuge in the house they claim is theirs.

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.
This week saw Nicki Minaj and Tate McRae close out 2023 with strong releases. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.
December is often a crapshoot with new music releases, but Minaj gave hip-hop fans something to get excited about in 2023’s final weeks with Pink Friday 2. The highly anticipated project features link-ups with some greats, including J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and others. SZA and Billie Eilish even low-key get in on the action.
Tate McRae — “Calgary”
McRae also pulled a Minaj but on the pop side of things. She told Uproxx’s Megan Armstrong of her new album Think Later, “Honestly, writing for this album came a lot more naturally because I was pulling from real experiences I had gone through. Both the experiences that led to the confident, empowered tracks like ‘Greedy’ and the experiences that led to more contemplative, reflective, and nostalgic songs like ‘Calgary.’”
Fred Again.. and Baby Keem — “Leavemealone”
Fred has proven himself a master at taking existing vocal samples and flipping them into something new and exciting. His latest example of that is “Leavemealone,” on which he borrows snippets of Keem’s “Bullies” and “South Africa” and brings them to the energetic dance floor.
Pharrell Williams, Swae Lee, and Rauw Alejandro — “Airplane Tickets”
Pharrell has wrangled a hitmaker or two in his day, and for his latest star-studded effort, he teamed up with Swae Lee and Rauw Alejandro on “Airplane Tickets.” Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez notes of the track, “On the streamy new single, the three fly fellas look to treat their ladies with the finer things, by way of international travel, excursions, and fine fashions.”
Jack Harlow and Dave — “Stop Giving Me Advice”
Harlow is doing better than most people trying to do what he does, so there aren’t many people who could give him useful advice. He actually seems tired of it on “Stop Giving Me Advice,” a collaboration with Lyrical Lemonade and fellow hip-hop success story and UK favorite Dave.
Tems — “Not An Angel”
Tems’ two new songs from 2023 were her first in a couple years, so hopefully this is a sign that a new album is on the way. Her latest is last week’s “Not An Angel,” of which Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez notes, “Over sparse drums and pulsating beats, Tems is at more principled place, moving forward from the wreckage of a lost love.”
Rina Sawayama — “Flavour Of The Month”
Sawayama had one of her biggest years yet thanks to her role in John Wick: Chapter 4. She also just made time to revisit her successful 2022 album Hold The Girl with a deluxe edition. Among the new songs is “Flavour Of The Month,” a self-assured pop banger with an edge.
Lil Yachty — “The Paradigm”
Yachty had perhaps the biggest left turn of the year with his pivot into psychedelic rock on Let’s Start Here. He’s not done with exploring that style yet, as he gets back into a dreamy space on “The Paradigm,” a new one from the soundtrack of Netflix’s Leave The World Behind.
Adrianne Lenker — “Ruined”
Lenker has built herself an impressive solo discography outside of Big Thief. She expanded it last week with “Ruined,” a stripped down number guided by piano and Lenker’s vocals that are distinctly adept at conveying heartbreak.
J Balvin — “Amigos”
It’s been a little while since Balvin’s latest album, 2021’s Jose. He still dropped a few new tracks this year, though, and he offered one more last week with “Amigos,” and no, it’s not about Bad Bunny.

We’ve all thought about quitting our jobs and traveling the world, but Trevor Noah actually did it. He left The Daily Show after a triumphant run with his sanity and youthful visage shockingly intact after years of covering US politics, the Trump presidency, and a global pandemic. And then he hit the road, touring the world while connecting with people from different cultures. And now he’s passing on some of his learnings to you, dear comedy consumer, in his fourth Netflix comedy special, Where Was I, which drops December 19.
Following last year’s fantastic I Wish You Would and filmed at Detroit’s Fox Theater, the special is directed by David Paul Meyer, who has a long history of working with Noah on The Daily Show and on his past specials.
What’s it all about? The synopsis released by Netflix is short and sweet: “Trevor Noah shares his hilarious experiences from his recent travels around the world, ranging from foreign national anthems to varying cultural norms.” From that, you can assume Noah isn’t going to be spending too much time delivering a Daily Show-light kind of set that fixates on US domestic issues. Which is good. Noah’s ambition to hit the road after the show was made clear on his way out the door and it wasn’t born from a need to do his Trump impression and talk about Lindsay Graham, spreading word of America’s sometimes unique (and sometimes painfully unoriginal) batshittery. The idea that the US is the center of the universe, particularly when it comes to comedy, is outdated and uninteresting. Finding the things that connect us despite borders and other barriers? That’s the true challenge, something Noah has excelled at previously, and something it seems like he’s ready to attempt again with this new special which, again, drops on Netflix December 19.
The annual festival will take place from Wednesday, July 10 to Saturday, July 13, 2024 in Madrid, Spain.
According to Mad Cool’s official website, there will be a pre-sale for Santander customers beginning tomorrow, December 12, at 12 p.m. local time and running through Thursday, December 15, at 11:59 a.m. local time. Find more information here. There will also be a pre-sale for Mad Cool members beginning tomorrow, located here. The general sale is scheduled for Thursday, December 15, located here.
“As well as announcing the first names set to appear at next year’s installment, the organizers at Mad Cool have also announced ways that it will be making improvements across the site to improve the overall attendee experience,”NMErelayed. “This includes a reduction in the number of stages, going from eight to six, as well as a general reduction in public capacity. These look to improve flows within the festival and reduce schedule conflicts and artist overlaps.”
