Dad takes 7-week paternity leave after his second child is born and is stunned by the results

Participating in paternity leave offers fathers so much more than an opportunity to bond with their new kids. It also allows them to help around the house and take on domestic responsibilities that many new mothers have to face alone…while also tending to a newborn.

All in all, it enables couples to handle the daunting new chapter as a team, making it less stressful on both parties. Or at least equally stressful on both parties. Democracy!

TikTok creator and dad Caleb Remington, from the popular account @ustheremingtons, confesses that for baby number one, he wasn’t able to take a “single day of paternity leave.”

This time around, for baby number two, Remington had the privilege of taking seven weeks off (to be clear—his employer offered four weeks, and he used an additional three weeks of PTO).

The time off changed Remington’s entire outlook on parenting, and his insights are something all parents could probably use.

“It’s unfortunately the end of my maternity —ahem— paternity leave,” Remington quips at the beginning of his video, via voiceover. “I only joke because my wife is truly the man of the house. And call me what you want, but I am totally okay with that.”

He then shares that after getting to spend quality time with his family to create precious memories—losing track of time to “watch ants cross the sidewalk,” for instance—he feels “guilty” about not doing so with their firstborn.

“[It] made me realize how many of those small moments I missed out the first time, but I’m looking past that guilt and grateful that I had some time to make it up,” he says.

You’ll notice that during this entire video, Remington is also doing chores. Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, wiping the countertops…you get the picture.

@ustheremingtons I (caleb) am getting ready to go back into work and i am not ready. Grateful for my four weeks plus 3 weeks of PTO, but i feel like we were just getting into a groove and i was finally getting to have some 1 on 1 time with my son. Picking up the house today because we all function better with a clean space and we haven’t had time to do much of it while surviving these past 7 weeks. I do work from home and find that I have a little more flexibility in helping out here and there but i am also pretty glued and have to be zoned in during work hours. I do however have some pretty awesome and understanding coworkers and company!Shout out to @SAMBAZON Açaí 👊 Tiff is an all star: working and stay at home mom. I am dedicated in doing better to help balance more of the domestic responsibilities. #paternityleave #dadtok #dadsover30 #dadlife #fyp #foryoupage #ditl #ditlvlog #maternityleave #newbornlife #newbornbaby #secondbaby #2under2 #toddlerlife ♬ original sound – Tiffany + Caleb

Why is he doing this? His wife, aka “the lady with the milk bags,” has been so stressed with the house being messy that Remington decided to focus on doing all the housecleaning so that she could spend time with the kids.

Doing a fair share of the domestic labor is something Remington admits to failing at their first time around. Spending seven weeks taking on more responsibilities, however, opened his eyes to the fact that what he previously saw as doing his “fair share” was actually doing “the bare minimum.”

“It has taken multiple conversations — and many ongoing ones — to truly master how to take on more of the mental load of raising children, growing our marriage and taking care of our investments like our home.”

Proof that having difficult conversations can lead to better understanding!

Lastly, Remington reflects on how the emotional turbulence of being new parents challenged his relationship, even though he and his wife were good communicators and aware of how much effort would be required.

“I honestly hated how much we fought, how much I felt misunderstood, and how much I misunderstood her…so now as second-time parents, I feel like we’re a little bit more prepared. Prepared in how we talk to each other, prepared in how I balance work, life, and personal life, and prepared to just let things go,” he says.

Definitely valuable insights for anyone navigating baby number one. Or number five, for that matter.

Remington’s story stands as a great example of just how beneficial paternity leave can be. It offers priceless bonding time, an equal balance of responsibilities, and more time for much needed reflection as parents begin a pivotal new chapter in their lives.

Woman who lives on a cruise ship shares the hardest part about her perfect life

A lot of folks would love to trade lives with Christine Kesteloo. Her husband is the Chief Engineer on a cruise ship, so she gets to live on the boat pretty much for free as the “wife on board.” For Christine, life is a lot like living on a permanent vacation.

“I live on a cruise ship for half the year with my husband, and it’s often as glamorous as it sounds,” she told Insider. “After all, I don’t cook, clean, make my bed, do laundry or pay for food.“

Living an all-inclusive lifestyle seems like paradise, but it has some drawbacks. Having access to all-you-can-eat food all day long can really have an effect on one’s waistline. Kesteloo admits that living on a cruise ship takes a lot of self-discipline because the temptation is always right under her nose.

“One of the hardest things about living on a cruise ship is that I know right now, if I just leave my cabin, I can go and have cookies, pizza, a shake, I could have anything I wanted, and I want it, I absolutely want it,” she said in a TikTok video that received over 400,000 views.

@dutchworld_americangirl

The hardest part about living on a cruise ship is that I am surrounded by free food all of the time anything I want I just had lunch but it’s 2 o’clock in my body tells me it’s either cookie time or time for a hamburger. The hardest part is telling myself not to eat. #hardestpart #cruiseship #livingatsea #koningsdam #weliveonacruiseship #cruisefoodie #foodtok #itsaproblem #halcruises #hollandamericaline

“I am laying here. It is 2 pm. I had a salad for lunch, I had some fresh fruit, but that didn’t fill me up,” she continued. “Right now, all I can think about is eating a burger with some French fries and some mayonnaise.”

“And that, folks, is the absolute hardest part about living on a cruise ship,” she said. “I am surrounded by food all the time.”

She added, “The hardest part is telling myself not to eat.”

Kesteloo’s trouble is a common problem among people on cruise ships. A study by Admiral Travel Insurance found that over 60% of people who go on a week-long cruise anticipate gaining weight. Seventeen percent of people say they gain 2 to 3 pounds on a cruise, while 14% say they gain 4 to 5 pounds.

Other estimates show that the average cruiser will put on 5 to 10 pounds on a weeklong cruise. Imagine living on a cruise ship for half the year, like Kesteloo. She could quickly put on 100 pounds a year if she’s not careful.

“I’d be huge if I lived there. I would feel like I’m on a constant vacation, and who diets on vacation?” Theresa Gramelsapcker-Wilson wrote in the comments.

“This is my main reason why I couldn’t do this HHAHAHAHAHAA,” Cara Mia added.

“I never thought about those who actually live on a cruise ship. I would be 500 pounds,” Lucky Penny2468 said.

Kesteloo’s battle with temptation shows that in every life, a little rain must fall. Nobody ever truly has it perfect. Kesteloo seems to be living the perfect life on board a cruise ship, but she still has to fight temptation every moment of the day or make good use of the ship’s gym facilities. But, obviously, having access to too much food is far better than having too little.

50 Cent Is Reportedly Working To Develop A Documentary About Diddy Following His Sexual Assault Lawsuit Allegations

50 Cent’s longstanding disdain of Diddy appears to have reached new heights. According to Page Six, the former is allegedly working to develop an investigative documentary about latter and his legal woes. Given 50 Cent’s troll-like tendencies and the public pressure Diddy is facing following the strings of sexual assault lawsuits, people online are throwing their support behind the idea.

Although Diddy has maintained his innocence, 50 Cent is confident he has the investigative skills to find proof to substantiate the claims in court documents. “I thought Diddy was a billionaire music mogul,” wrote 50 Cent in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “If he’s smart, he will file for bankruptcy now. Anyone with real money knows why I’m saying this. I’m the best producer for the job guys. Here come the receipts.”

After learning that Diddy had stepped down as chairman of Revolt, 50 Cent rushed to X to express his interest in purchasing the network. “I’ll buy that from you, playboy, for the low because you know Cadillac and AT&T gonna pull out,” wrote 50 Cent. “I’ll give you a few dollars for it now! Sell it to me, then we can be friends. I’m serious. Call my phone.”

50 Cent has shown his producing chops with Starz shows such as BMF and the Power Universe franchise. Could a documentary be his next creative venture?

‘The Boys’ Season 4 Trailer Teases Jeffrey Dean Morgan Plus Homelander Going Even More MAGA

The Boys-verse is in the midst of further expansion. Last week Amazon revealed they were launching yet another spin-off of Garth Ennis and Darik Robertson’s renegade superhero comic, with a Mexico-set series involving dynamic duo Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal. But what about the one that started it all? Well, Season 4 is arriving sometime next year, and now it has a new trailer.

There are a couple big additions. One is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose character pops up in the trailer’s final moments. There’s also Sister Sage (Susan Heyward), who has the same nihilistic view of America as Trumpy Homelander (Antony Starr).

“Rome. Greece. All democracies fail because people are f*cking stupid,” Sage says. “But if you crush the masses who build your monuments, who tongue your taint… Nah, the people will tear it apart themselves. You just gotta nudge ’em a little. Then you get to swoop in and be the one saving it.”

“Like Caesar?” Homelander replies, to which Sage agrees.

Will Homelander go even more deranged? And will there be still more creative chaos than in Season 3? Given last year’s penis-related mayhem, that’ll be hard to top, though one of the show’s VFX team has already teased that things are getting even wilder.

The Boys Season 4 has yet to name a release date, but it’s slated for sometime next year. In the meantime you can watch the trailer in the video above.

On November 30, news of Shane MacGowan’s death was made public. The late musician’s wife, Victoria Clarke, shared a note about their life together. Fans flooded social media to show their support of MacGowan and his group, The Pogues. Now, fellow musicians like Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Nick Cave, and Bono have taken to their platforms to pay tribute.

“Ah, the blessings of the cursed. Shane McGowan’s torrid and mighty voice is mud and roses punched out with swaggering stagger, ancient longing that is blasted all to hell,”wrote Waits in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “A Bard’s bard, may he cast his spell upon us all forevermore.”

Springsteen took to Instagram to share a statement on behalf of himself and The E Street Band. “Over here on E Street, we are heartbroken over the death of Shane MacGowan,” he wrote. “Shane was one of my all-time favorite writers. The passion and deep intensity of his music and lyrics are unmatched by all but the very best in the rock and roll canon. I was fortunate to spend a little time with Shane and his lovely wife, Victoria, the last time we were in Dublin. He was very ill but still beautifully present in his heart and spirit. His music is timeless and eternal. I don’t know about the rest of us, but they’ll be singing Shane’s songs 100 years from now.”

“Shane was not revered just for his manifold talents but also loved for himself alone,” wrote Cave in a newsletter. He continued to honor Sinéad O’Connor, who passed in July. “A beautiful and damaged man, who embodied a kind of purity, innocence, generosity, and spiritual intelligence unlike any other.”

“Shane MacGowan’s songs were perfect, so he or we his fans didn’t have to be,” wrote Bono in an upload on X.

Amazon’s Take On The Video Game ‘Fallout’ Gets A Grimly Humorous First Trailer

Earlier this week Amazon dropped the first images from Fallout, their take on the long-running post-apocalyptic video game series. On Saturday they added a trailer, and the results are either grimly humorous or humorously grim, depending on how you look at it.

The series stars Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan as denizens of a particularly nasty future. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. Two-hundred years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind—and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.

The trailer offers the first look at Purnell’s hero, a loner who leaves the safety of the Vault and ventures into a town that looks like a Western setting gone sideways. Among the no-good-niks she encounters are Goggin’s The Ghoul, a bounty hunter with scars and a missing chunk of nose. There are giant bugs, dogs carrying severed human hands, and moldy coffee mugs.

Fallout hits Amazon Prime starting April 12. You can watch the trailer in the video above.

Emily Blunt Says ‘Office’ Fans Yell At Her When She’s Out With Her Husband John Krasinski For Not Being Pam Beesly

The American version of The Office ended over a decade ago, but it’s still as powerful as ever. It’s on TV somewhere at any given time. Its cast does podcasts devoted to behind-the-scenes minutiae. There’s even allegedly a reboot in the offing. Even those married to cast members can’t escape it. Per Entertainment Weekly, Emily Blunt — acclaimed actress and spouse of Jim Halpert player John Krasinski — went on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast, where she revealed fans of the show aren’t above heckling her.

“Do you know how many people still yell out, ‘I wish you were with Pam!’ like when I’m walking next to him?” Blunt said of her husband. “‘Where’s Pam?’ I’m like, ‘She’s not here!’”

There were a few inter-office relationships on The Office, none as beloved as the one between Krasinski’s Jim and Jenna Fischer’s Pam Beesly, who spent the first few seasons engaged in will-they-or-won’t-they flirtations. They finally hooked up, got married, and even left the show to live happily ever after.

Blunt and Krasinski, meanwhile, began dating in 2008, midway through the show’s run, and married two years later. Krasinski directed and co-starred with her in A Quiet Place, as well as its first sequel. Blunt has vowed to take a wee break from acting to spend more time with their kids, though when she returns she’d like to do finally do a sequel to one of her finest works, the Tom Cruise vehicle Edge of Tomorrow. In the meantime, Office heads, please leave her be.
