When Does Travis Scott’s Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Black Olive’ Come Out?

It’s time to shine the hypebeast signal; Travis Scott (apparently) has a new set of Jordan 1s coming. This time, he’s once again dabbling in an olive-based color scheme, inverting the blocking on the popular original pair he released back in April. The “Black Olive” colorway swaps the white and olive details from that shoe, putting the white on the Swoosh and the olive on the majority of the upper. While the prior white pair was a women’s exclusive, Nike/Jordan has yet to reveal whether that same restriction will apply this time around.

According to SneakerNews, the most reliable source at the moment, this pair is rumored to have a release sometime next fall. The blog also has images of a sample pair, courtesy of Instagram.

This is the third pair of Air Jordan 1 low-tops that Scott has collaborated on with Nike/Jordan, most recently releasing the “Neutral Olive” golf shoe in October. They were released through a few golf shops, with one store even requiring customers to hit a 200-yard drive before being added to its lottery.

Meanwhile, the Travis Scott shoe fans have been hankering for since its announcement earlier this year is finally dropping soon. Scott’s version of tennis legend John McEnroe’s signature Mac Attack is set to drop on December 19th. May the odds be ever in your favor.

All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

bnm
Getty Image/Derrick Rossignol

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw surprises from the two biggest touring artists of 2023: Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape and Pop Life newsletters.

Beyoncé — “My House”

At the end of her new Renaissance film, Beyoncé included a surprise for fans: “My House,” a new song that plays at the end of the movie. She dropped it on streaming platforms, too, and it sees Bey getting fully into her rap bag.

Taylor Swift — “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)”

You heard this one if you copped the “late night” edition of Midnights, but in celebration of being named Spotify’s most-streamed artist of 2023, Swift decided to treat fans by popping “You’re Losing Me” up on streaming platforms for the first time. Naturally, there was quickly speculation that the song is about one of her exes.

Tyla — “Truth Or Dare”

Tyla is having a breakout year thanks to the success of “Water,” which just hit the top 10 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. Now she’s capitalizing with the announcement of a new album, which was quickly followed by “Truth Or Dare,” a groove-driven new single that picks up where “Water” left off in terms of catchiness.

Flo Milli — “Never Lose Me”

After a year that included a bunch of new singles, Flo Milli had another one to offer with “Never Lose Me.” Uproxx’s Alex Gonzalez notes of the track, “This particular single is one of Flo’s more melodic songs, as she showcases both her rap skills and her soft, R&B vocal stylings.”

Jung Kook — “Standing Next To You (Usher Remix)”

BTS’ Jung Kook has been popping off with the remixes lately. His new Justin Timberlake-featuring version of “3D” arrived in November, and now he’s linked up with another 2000s pop icon for a rework of “Standing Next To You,” getting Usher to contribute a new verse to the funky and huge song.

Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams — “Everywhere, Everything”

The headline of Kahan’s weekend was his debut appearance on Saturday Night Live, but before the show, he teamed up with fellow 2024 Grammys Best New Artist nominee Gracie Abrams for a new rendition of “Everywhere, Everything.” Abrams’ collab comes after Kahan recruited Kacey Musgraves and Post Malone for similar collaborative refreshes of Stick Season highlights.

Sexyy Red — “I Might” Feat. Summer Walker

After a breakout year led by the mixtape Hood Hottest Princess, Red wrapped up 2023 by dropping a deluxe version. It’s basically its own album as it includes a bunch of additional songs, including collaborations with Summer Walker, Chief Keef, and Sukihana.

Kaytranada and Channel Tres — “Stuntin”

Kaytranada had a huge 2023, whether he was nailing it at Coachella or teaming up with Aminé for their Kaytraminé album. He had a couple more songs to get off his chest before the year ended, though, as he dropped fresh collaborations with Channel Tres and Rochelle Jones last week.

Dove Cameron — “Still”

Cameron’s long-awaited debut album Alchemical is still forthcoming, but in the meantime, she just dropped the first part of it as Alchemical: Volume 1. There are eight tracks featured on this dispatch, including the evocative and dynamic “Still.”

Holly Humberstone and Muna — “Into Your Room”

Fresh off her new album Paint My Bedroom Black, Holly Humberstone has given her expansive and thumping pop epic “Into Your Room” a facelift with a new Muna-featuring version. Muna, by the way, are the latest Uproxx cover stars in a new feature published last week.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Nic Cage Apparently Just Discovered TV And Was So Blown Away By ‘Breaking Bad’ That He Wants To Quit Making Movies To Do TV Instead

Nic Cage in Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent
Lionsgate

Nicolas Cage is ready to make the jump to TV. After starring in over 100 movies, including his latest release Dream Scenario, Cage wants to transition from the big screen to the small screen thanks to finally getting around to watching a little show called Breaking Bad.

In a new interview with Uproxx‘s Mike Ryan, Cage revealed that he probably has about three or four more movies in him, and then he wants to end on a “high note” after basically exploring every film genre possible.

“I don’t want to get stuck in any genre or any performance style. I want to do it all,” Cage said. “And I feel that I’ve, at this point – after 45 years of doing this; that in over 100 movies – I feel I’ve pretty much said what I’ve had to say with cinema.”

However, Cage isn’t done acting. He just wants to try a different medium, namely television.

“I am very interested in immersion streaming with episodic television,” Cage said. “I have seen things that can be done now with characters and the time they’re given to express themselves. I saw Bryan Cranston stare at a suitcase for an hour on one episode of Breaking Bad. We don’t have time to do that in a feature film, so maybe television is the next best step for me.”

The actor also wouldn’t mind staying in one place for a while so he can spend more “quality time” with his family.

“What’s important is my children and I have a baby daughter,” Cage said. “And if I can find an episodic show to do that stays in one place where I don’t have to keep leaving, we can all be together. That, on a personal level, would be great. But also I’m a student and I don’t know if I have anything else to learn in cinema. I might have something to learn in television.”

Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Movie Just Had One Of The Biggest December Opening Weekends In 20 Years

Beyoncé releases something, anything at all, and it’s No. 1. That is the cyclical formula of the past two decades, so why would it be any different for everything Renaissance? Beyoncé’s 2022 album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and her supporting Renaissance World Tour became the highest-grossing tour headlined by a female artist, American soloist, and Black artist in history (as per Live Nation). And so, of course, Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé ruled the North American box office in its debut weekend.

According to The Associated Press on Sunday, December 3, Beyoncé’s concert movie pulled in $21 million in North American ticket sales, AMC Theatres estimated. AP additionally relayed that Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé debuted in 2,539 theaters across Canada and the United States, and it netted $6.4 million from 2,621 theatrical debuts across 94 international territories.

“The post-Thanksgiving, early December box office is notoriously slow, but Renaissance defied the odds,” Lindsey Bahr wrote for The Associated Press. “Not accounting for inflation, it’s the first time a film has opened over $20 million on this weekend in 20 years (since The Last Samurai).”

As seen on Tina Knowles’ Instagram, Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé also owns perfect 100% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, both via audience score and the review-based Tomatometer.

Did Jeezy Cheat On Jeannie Mai?

It has been a couple of months since Atlanta trap rapper Jeezy and TV personality Jeannie Mai filed for divorce and a new development in the case now has renewed fan speculation that the divorce was prompted by infidelity. According to Us Weekly, Jeannie Mai’s representation has asked the court to uphold an infidelity clause in the couple’s prenuptial agreement. On Thursday, November 30, Mai’s attorney filed a request for “equitable division” of their marital assets, citing the clause which reads that if either Jeezy or Jeannie steps out, “a significant financial penalty” would apply.

Jeezy, however, told Us Weekly through a spokesperson that “Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins’ behalf are 100 percent false and we have no further statements at this time.”

The rapper addressed the divorce in part during a November interview with Nia Long. “I can tell you that this has not been an easy journey,” he said. “I can tell you that I’m saddened. I can tell you that I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy, right? But, again, God has put me on a different path, and that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself and to love myself and to be in the best situation that I can thrive as someone who’s been through all of the things that I’ve been through.”

At the time, he also denied again that he was unfaithful, quoting his own song, ““Real n****s don’t cheat.”

‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Pulled A Fast One With His Diet While Getting Jacked To Portray A Giant Who Is Effortlessly Jacked

Reacher Season 2
Amazon Prime

Reacher has been such a home run for Amazon that Season 3 has been greenlit even before Season 2 premieres later this month. Let’s just say that they found the right dude for the job, even though Alan Ritchson is 6’2″ instead of 6’5″ and doesn’t have hands quite as big as dinner plates.

As well, there was (as you definitely assumed) a rigid round of prep work (diet and exercise) involved with portraying the hulking hobo. This is where I gotta mention that, in the show (based upon Lee Childs’ bestselling Jack Reacher books), Jack Reacher does not make any effort to look the way he does. He was blessed with “genetics” and doesn’t go to the gym. He also eats a bunch of garbage (whatever is in a vending machine, fries, diner sammiches, and so on), so yep, the dude simply got lucky. Now, Alan Ritchson? Not so much.

The Catching Fire/Fast X actor previously revealed on a Reddit AMA that he lifted serious weight while gaining 30 pounds to get to 235. As for his diet, he declared on The Kelly Clarkson Show that “it’s a full time job” to inhale “a conveyor belt of smoothies and protein.” However, he kind-of ate like Jack Reacher, too: “I would order the crew Popeye’s chicken sandwiches, cookies, just so I can get the kind of calories I wanted, and it looks like a goodwill gesture.”

Hmm. Considering that he doesn’t usually diet in real life, according to his AMA, his revelation of Popeyes’ and cookies seems plausible:

“I built a modest gym in my house and hit weights 5 days a week. For twenty years I almost never used weights. 4 sets of 25 Pushups, pull-ups, dips, and sit-ups always kept me at 205. Weights for 8 months got me to 235. I usually eat whatever cause I run so much. I clean it up a little when going to camera.”

Now, if only the man could get some really great pie.

Reacher will return on December 15.

John Oliver Has An Idea For What George Santos Can Do After ‘Finally’ Getting Booted From Congress

John Oliver George Santos
HBO/Getty

John Oliver wasted no time diving into George Santos being expelled from Congress last week following a House investigation that resulted in the extremely damaging “George Santos Vulnerability Report.” In true Santos fashion, the now former congressman vowed revenge on his colleagues and called one of them a “p*ssy” in the lead-up to this ouster.

“Apparently it takes three times to get rid of him — a sort of reverse Beetlejuice situation, if you will,” Oliver said via Rolling Stone before revealing the perfect home for Santos. “The truth is, this man never belonged in Congress, he belongs on Bravo.”

“That kind of messiness isn’t just friends of behavior, it’s full-on housewife,” Oliver continued. “Santos was a match at giving us A-plus headlines like, ‘George Santos has meltdown while holding mystery baby’ – and by the way, when Santos was asked if that baby was his, his answer was ‘Not yet,’ which is the single funniest possible answer.”

After going through the long and ridiculous list of Santos’ controversies, Oliver took his Bravo plan all the way to the top.

“Santos clearly didn’t deliver for his constituents, but he delivered hard for the rest of us. I don’t want him to be in my government and I don’t want to sit next to him on an airplane but I definitely want him in Andy Cohen‘s menagerie of damaged human beings,” Oliver quipped. “Call this man now, Cohen, and pay him what he is worth.”

Is Beyoncé Working On A New Album?

beyonce
Getty Image

Beyoncé is at the top of the North American box office this morning, December 4, as with Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé coolly collected $21 million over the weekend (as per The Associated Press). The “masterful” movie, as reviewed by Uproxx’s Philip Cosores, somehow one-upped its supremely successful predecessors, Beyoncé’s 2022 Renaissance album and supporting Renaissance World Tour. It seems overly simplified to say that such domination happened because Beyoncé worked hard, but her mother, Tina Knowles, doesn’t agree.

Over the weekend, Knowles celebrated her daughter’s Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé release with several “Proud Mom” Instagram posts. And one of her captions hinted that Beyoncé might already be working on a new album.

“Last one about the Rotten Tomatoes!” Knowles captioned a screenshot of the 100% Rotten Tomatoes reviews of the concert movie. “Just saw this !! When you see how hard someone works and all the sacrifices they make because for the last month my child was in a studio almost 24 hours a day I was with her most of that time sleeping in the studio! She only went to take her kids to school to shower and come back.”

She continued, “There are only a few people that understand how hard she works ! how she works on every single thing that goes out in a movie or a video or a tour . #that is why I ride so hard for her !!! She deserves every [accolade] that she gets.”

Whether Beyoncé is actually preparing another album is anyone’s guess. Renaissance arrived in July 2022 as her first solo LP since April 2016’s Lemonade, a substantial gap.

It’s worth noting that Beyoncé initially billed Renaissance as a “three-act project” in a statement on her website around its release. She also shared that she had recorded it all “over three years during the pandemic,” so it would seem that she already has two more releases in the vault ready for release.

That said, a generational artist like Beyoncé never rests, so maybe she’s in the studio still tweaking the other two parts? Maybe she’s recording another album entirely? Or maybe she’s just wired to work on music around the clock regardless of if anyone else hears it? History would suggest Beyoncé will let us know what she wants us to know precisely when she wants us to know it, and not one second sooner.
