Dolly Parton, Escorted By Peyton Manning, Sang ‘Rocky Top’ Live At Neyland Stadium

Dolly Parton Rocky Top
Local 3 Sports

National treasure and Tennessee’s own Dolly Parton graced Neyland Stadium with her gift of song on Saturday as she sang ‘Rocky Top’ live on the field after being escorted out by Peyton Manning.

That’s about the only thing that went right for No. 21 Tennessee, which lost to No. 1 Georgia 38-10 on the field.

Still, it got perhaps its best-ever Rocky Top rendition out of it.

Parton was born in a small town outside of Gatlinburg, and she still lives in her home state in Brentwood. Parton’s 50-plus year career in country music and beyond as a cultural icon has made her one of the most beloved figures in the country, and even more so in Tennessee.

She was a huge hit with the Tennessee fans as she sang along with the band.

After she finished, she was interviewed by CBS Sports sideline reporter Jenny Dell. “I am joined by the goddess here herself,” Dell said before asking Parton what it was like to sing Tennessee’s favorite song in front of a packed stadium.

“Well, it was great, only I couldn’t hear because my sound went out and the stadium was so loud….but I was so honored to be here.

“It’s just so good to be home, always.”

Parton hummed Rocky Top as Dell threw it back to Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson for play-by-play, but made it clear they’d come back to Parton. After just one play, they did, and she sang part of it again.

“They put me in that dang Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, and I figured, I’ve got to do something to earn that. I’ve got to do a rock album,” Parton said of her new album Rockstar that came out on Friday.

Parton also partnered with the University of Tennessee to put out an exclusive Vols edition of her album that includes a bonus track: a live bluegrass version of ‘Rocky Top’.

FSU Quarterback Jordan Travis Was Carted Off And Later Taken Away In An Ambulance After Awful Leg Injury

Jordan Travis injury
CW Sports

Florida State was a tune-up game with FCS Northern Alabama away from its final two tests of the season before what it hoped would be a College Football Playoff berth.

But all of that seemed meaningless after quarterback Jordan Travis, the heart and soul of the Seminoles, went down and immediately clutched frantically at his obviously-injured left leg after a 17-yard run.

Travis was down for quite some time as Florida State’s medical staff attended to him, and the looks of horror on the faces of his teammates and the fans told the story.

Eventually, Travis was loaded onto a cart. Players from both teams came out from their respective sidelines (many Florida State players were out there already) to see him off, and the fans chanted, “Jordan Travis!”

Travis left the game in an ambulance on his Senior Night. No update on the severity of the injury has come from Florida State, but it was evident that it was likely season-ending.

When the injury occurred, Florida State — which has started slowly at times this season — trailed 13-0 to Northern Alabama. Tate Rodemacher replaced Travis and Florida State righted the ship, taking a double-digit lead into halftime and continuing to build on it.

Florida State fans grew to adore Travis after his tough play and steady improvement got them through some rough seasons, including just three wins in head coach Mike Norvell’s first season in 2020.

The 23-year-old was having the best season of his career. Travis had completed 64.1% of his passes this season for 2,734 yards, 20 touchdowns and just two interceptions. He had another 160 yards on the ground and another seven touchdowns.

Diddy’s Attorney Has Issued A Statement To Clear Up Public Speculation Surrounding The Cassie Lawsuit Settlement

Yesterday (November 17), it was revealed that Cassie’s explosive rape and physical abuse lawsuit against Diddy was privately settled. Immediately following the announcement, users online began to theorize why the case was handled so quickly. Although outsiders will likely never know what financial agreement the parties came to, Diddy’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman, did want to clarify one thing.

Today (November 18), according to The Hollywood Reporter, Brafman allegedly issued a statement on behalf of Diddy to silence the chatter circulating on social media. In the words of Brafman, the call to close out the case in less than 24 hours does not have anything to do with Diddy’s perceived guilt. “[This is] no way an admission of wrongdoing,” said Brafman.

He continued, “Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”

This retort is a follow-up to Diddy’s initial response. “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love,” Diddy told The New York Times.

Still, even with the additional statement, the public’s opinion has not changed much. View a few users’ reactions to the declaration below.

Nathan Fielder Denies That His ‘Curse’ Promo With Emma Stone Parodied The One For ‘Anyone But You’ With Sydney Sweeney And Glen Powell

nathan fielder emma stone curse
Showtime

Nathan Fielder is a tricky one. Nathan for You ended with a hall-of-mirrors epic that left viewers with more questions than answers. There was that time he took over what should have been a simple How to With John Wilson behind-the-scenes video. Then there were the endless hairpin turns and ethical issues in The Rehearsal. When a new trailer for his latest show, The Curse, dropped Friday, it began with what seemed like a parody of another high-profile ad. Now he’s denying it was. Or is he?

Per The AV Club, the alleged lampoon in question finds Fielder and co-star Emma Stone doing one of those awkward intros where they pretend to have chemistry but mostly remind viewers of the Bruce Valanch-scripted banter presenters do at the Academy Awards. Thing is, it dropped around the same time as a similar prelude Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell did for the forthcoming rom-com Anyone But You.

There are an awful lot of similarities. Both feature a tall guy and a shorter female standing in front of a greyish background. Even their clothes have similar colors. Were Fielder and Stone consciously making fun of Sweeney and Powell (or at least the presumably contractual requirement they had to fulfill)? Was it the other way around?

Whatever the case, Fielder is alleging that he’s as confused as you are.

In a post first dropped on his Instragram account, Fielder claims he and Stone shot their promo “over six months ago,” so there’s no way they could have banged out a quickie parody of an ad that only recently went live. In fact, he says he’s “seriously concerned that the marketing team at Sony Pictures somehow saw our promo and copied it.” He also declared that he “personally will not be pursuing legal action” over it, though it’s “unfortunate that Sydney, Glen, Emma, and myself have been put in this situation.” He also said he and Stone will “personally be booking front row seats at Anyone But You on opening night.”

That clears that up. Or does it? Fielder has a habit of misleading the public about the real Nathan Fielder. For instance, he and Stone recently went on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he debuted the “real” Nathan Fielder: a cool dude who wears sunglasses, a beret, an earring, and lots of black. Could this be some coordination between the Curse and Anyone But You teams to make some meta joke? Is anything real?

For now, though, The Curse airs new episodes on Showtime on Sundays while Anyone But You hits theaters on December 15.

Taylor Swift’s time abroad for the latest international wing of her The Eras Tour has been a whirlwind. On Friday, November 17, the singer began her temporary residency in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Unfortunately, the area’s ongoing heat wave has proven to be dangerous. News of one fan’s death before the show has officials, Swift, and her team on high alert.

Although Swift made it through the grueling three-hour performance, which impressed professional athletes like JJ Watt, she will not roll the dice on Saturday, November 18. In a note shared on her official Instagram page, she said she’s decided to postpone the second show due to the weather conditions.

“I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium,” wrote Swift. “The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio. The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.”

At this time, Swift has not revealed when the Brazil show will be rescheduled. Ticketholders are encouraged to watch for an email notification in the future.

How Much Money Did Diddy Settle With Cassie?

Grand opening, grand closing. Before most of the public could read through Cassie’s explosive 35-page civil lawsuit against her famous ex-partner, Diddy, the case is over. On Friday, November 17, The New York Times revealed that the lawsuit, in which Cassie accused Diddy of rape, ongoing physical abuse, and even blowing up Kid Cudi’s car, had been settled.

Due to how fast the pair reached an agreement, people wonder how much money Diddy settled for with Cassie. Unfortunately, the financial details aren’t known at this time. Due to the claims in the suit, it would be safe to assume that both parties signed a non-disclosure agreement, preventing them from sharing the total number. In the court documents, Cassie initially asked for $30 million in punitive damages as part of the lawsuit.

However, Cassie and Diddy shared a statement when their settlement was announced. “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” said Cassie, according to The New York Times. “I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Diddy followed that up with his own statement, saying, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Nicole Kidman Dropped Some Very Big News For Fans Of ‘Big Little Lies’

Big-Little-Lies
HBO

Big Little Lies was only supposed to be a miniseries. So popular was the Monterey murder show that, two years later, it returned for some more, this time with some Meryl Streep antics. Well, get ready for more, it sounds like.

Per The Daily Beast, Nicole Kidman spoke at the CME Group Tour Championship Friday, when she casually dropped some big news.

“I loved Big Little Lies because it sort of came along at a time in my life when I had my children and I was thinking I was going to retire and then this situation came along, where Reese Witherspoon and I were able to produce that show,” Kidman told the crowd. “And then all of you watched it and made it a massive success and we will be bringing you a third one, just FYI.”

Kidman didn’t go into any details, and it seems the news had not been broken before she casually told the crowd about it. But as of now it’s been four years since the last episode, not long before the pandemic temporarily put the kibosh on live-action scripted television. Surely it won’t be easy finding time to get the gang back together — the gang comprised, of course, of Kidman, Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley. There are also some doofus husbands.

Teenager creates eye-opening videos that shatter stereotypes surrounding autism and girls

The most recent data shows that about one in 68 children in the U.S. are affected by autism and boys are four times more likely than girls to be diagnosed.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is marked by communication and social difficulties, sensory processing issues, and inflexible patterns of behavior. Almost everything that researchers have learned about the disorder is based on data derived from studies of boys.

However, researchers are starting to learn that ASD manifests differently in girls. This has led many girls to be undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

“The model that we have for a classic autism diagnosis has really turned out to be a male model,” Susan F. Epstein, PhD, a clinical neuropsychologist said according to Child Mind.

“That’s not to say that girls don’t ever fit it, but girls tend to have a quieter presentation, with not necessarily as much of the repetitive and restricted behavior, or it shows up in a different way,” Epstein added.

Stereotypical ASD behaviors may also get in the way of recognizing the disorder in girls.

“So where the boys are looking at train schedules, girls might have excessive interest in horses or unicorns, which is not unexpected for girls,” Dr. Epstein notes. “But the level of the interest might be missed and the level of oddity can be a little more damped down. It’s not quite as obvious to an untrained eye.”

Girls with ASD are usually better at hiding their autistic behaviors, so they suffer in silence.

Paige Layle, a 19-year-old eyelash technician from Ontario, Canada, has autism but because she’s a social butterfly, most people don’t realize she has the disorder.

“I get that a lot, that because I’m good-looking, nothing can be wrong with me — so I want to show that mental illness is diverse,” Layle told BuzzFeed.

To help people better understand how autism manifests in girls and women, Layle has made a series of videos on her TikTok page.

“I decided to start making videos because of an audio that was going all over TikTok that was making fun of autistic people. I hated it. I feel like many people don’t understand how many people are autistic,” she said.

Layle’s videos are eye-opening because they shatter some big myths about autism and show how difficult it can be to live with the disorder, especially if you don’t know you have it.

@paigelayle learn more about autism! 🙂 i get many questions every day to make more vids about it, i will continue to show you guys! #feature #fup #fyp #featureme ♬ original sound – paigelayle

In the first video, she explains how the initial research done on autism was only on boys or men.

“Girls usually end up showing different traits than guys do. Which is why it can take us years to get diagnosed. I was 15 when I got diagnosed and that’s considered early for a girl.”

She also explains that girls often are diagnosed later because they are better at hiding autistic behaviors.

“This is something we call masking. Masking is basically just being like a really good actor.

It’s where you take traits that everyone else is showing and start portraying them as yourself. It’s like a lot of copying going on. … In your mind you don’t think you’re copying. You think that this is normal and everyone feels the same way you do.

You basically feel like an alien and you’re really good at hiding that. Which is why I don’t seem autistic.”

In part two, she discusses the idea of being high-functioning.

@paigelayle no such thing as high/ low functioning autism!!! it’s just how YOU perceive us. not about how we’re affected. #feature #featureme #fup #fyp ♬ original sound – paigelayle

“Get high-functioning and low functioning out of your vocabulary. It doesn’t help anybody. I know you may think that saying ‘Oh like you’re high-functioning’ is compliment. It’s not a compliment. It’s also like a reminder that I’m just masking, and it’s so hard.

Masking is the most exhausting thing in the world… ‘High-functioning’ is basically a label that you can use to be like ‘Your autism doesn’t affect me that much.’ But I’ll tell you that everyone you think is high-functioning is greatly affected by their autism.”

In part three, Paige discusses common autistic traits that girls have.

@paigelayle more on special interests later ☺️ #feature #autism #fyp #fyp #featureme ♬ original sound – paigelayle

“I am overly social. I give way too much eye contact. I’m really good in social situations. It’s also very common for girls with autism to have other mental disabilities or mental disorders as well. I have seven and one of the main ones is OCD.

All of these mental illnesses stem from having autism. But OCD, anxiety, and depression are very common, especially in girls. Just the feeling that the world needs rules for you to understand it. That’s why a lot of autism special interests include things like anatomy, the human body, psychology, just figuring out how the world works is our way to figure out how to live in it.”

In part four, Paige discusses the topic of masking.

@paigelayle ahhh masking. can’t live with you, can’t live without you. #feature #fup #fyp #featureme #autism ♬ original sound – paigelayle

“When you’re in the autistic closet and you are not known to be autistic yet … you like subconsciously know that you’re weird and you don’t know how to act or how to be.

It’s like the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you wear your hair, like your mannerisms. Like everything you say. Everything you think. Everything you think that you enjoy. It’s all what you are accustomed to from your peers.

I’ve been diagnosed for four years and I’m still trying to figure out who I am and what I actually like to do. You just get to used to creating this mask that when it’s like ‘Hey, you can take it off,’ It’s like what the frick is underneath it? I don’t know what’s going on.”

Quick-thinking mom finds her lost toddler in a Kmart thanks to TikTok hack

There are few things as frightening to a parent than losing your child in a crowded place like a shopping mall, zoo, or stadium. The moment you realize your child is missing, it’s impossible not to consider the terrifying idea they may have been kidnapped.

A woman in New Zealand recently lost her son in a Kmart but was able to locate him because of a potentially life-saving parenting hack she saw on TikTok a few months ago.

The woman was shopping at the retailer when she realized her two-year-old son Nathan was missing. She immediately told a friend to alert the staff to ensure he didn’t leave through the store’s front exit.

“Another friend searched the area he was last seen,” the mom wrote in a Facebook post.

The mother began looking for him by rummaging through clothes racks and running through the aisles.

It was the “scariest 10 minutes of my life” she later wrote.

But then she remembered a parenting hack she saw on TikTok by blogger Jess Martini. “If your child goes missing, screw the stares and start calling out their description,” the mother recalled.

“I’m missing a little boy, he’s wearing a yellow shirt and has brown hair. He’s two years old and his name is Nathan!” she called out to the rest of the store while reminding herself not to “break down” in tears.

“You need people to understand you loud and clear,” she said.

The mother’s calls immediately deputized everyone who heard them to begin looking for the child. It was like multiplying the search by a factor of 10. “I turned an aisle and heard ‘He’s here!'” she wrote. “I turned back the way I came and there he was. A man had walked past him after hearing me calling out.”

She immediately thanked the man, realizing that if she hadn’t called out he may have never known the child was missing. “Nate would have walked past him and he wouldn’t have blinked,” she said.

In November, parenting blogger Jess Martini posted a video sharing the best way for parents to locate a missing child. It’s great advice because the knee-jerk response is usually to just call out their name or silently run around looking.

@jesmartini PSA that I feel can save kids and I’ve used- if your child goes missing in public #momsoftiktok #PSA #nojudgement #fyp #4up #besafe #parentsoftiktok ♬ original sound – Jess martini

“To all parents out there, if your child goes missing, do not search in silence or just call out their name,’ Martini says in the video. “Shout out loud and clear. Say they’re missing, give a description and repeat, repeat, repeat!”

“Everyone will be on alert, and if someone is trying to take off with your kid, it will decrease the chances of them getting away,” she added.

The advice is a great reminder to make a mental note of what your child is wearing when you go out, so if they go missing, you can easily provide a description. It also proof that when a parent needs help, most people are more than willing to lend a hand.
