Basketball coaching legend John Wooden once famously said, “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching,” and he has a great point. It’s one thing to do what’s right when you are afraid you’ll be punished for doing the wrong thing by an authority figure. It’s another to do the right thing because your peers will applaud you.

But the highest moral good is doing what’s right when no one is watching because that’s doing good for its own sake.

A story out of Gothenburg, Sweden, shows that in that community, the patrons of its library know a little something about doing good just because it’s the right thing to do.

On November 4, the Gothenburg City Library was closed for All Saints Day. The day is a holiday dedicated to remembering loved ones who passed by lighting a candle on their graves, or spending time with family and having a festive meal.

The City Library was scheduled to be closed for the holiday, but one of the employees forgot to lock the building door. So, being that it was a Saturday, hundreds of people flocked to the library to check out books, read magazines, surf the internet, or play video games.

Library employee Anna Carin Elf was in the neighborhood and was shocked to see people walking in and out of the library when it was supposed to be closed. Even though it wasn’t supposed to be open, the people in the library just went about their business as if it was a typical day.

“They were surprised. They thought it was a bit empty,” Elf said, according to ZME Science. “The people in the library behaved as usual. Many were sitting reading newspapers, some families were in the children’s section and others were searching for books on the computer.”

Elf contacted her boss and another colleague and told everyone in the library that the building was closed. The patrons closed up their books and went home. But some left with books for some weekend reading.

The librarians later did a tally and found that 446 people visited the library on All Saints Day and 246 books were borrowed. Surprisingly, all of the books were returned within 5 days. “Nothing was destroyed. It’s amazing that Gothenburgers enter an empty library and treat it so lovingly,” Elf told The Local.

It has been a little under a month since Rolling Loud announced the dates for its 2024 return to Los Angeles, and fans are understandably antsy for more information. Rolling Loud’s social media manager, meanwhile, has been delighted to tease them with the possibility of updates like the one below. It doesn’t look like fans will have to wait too long to see the lineup, as Rolling Loud writes, “feels like a lucky month to announce a lineup.”

That means we can probably expect to learn who’s performing at next year’s LA show sometime this month. The 2023 edition of the festival, which took place in early March, was headlined by Future, Playboi Carti, and Travis Scott and featured a lineup including standout performances from Coi Leray, Ice Spice, Ken Carson, Larry June, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, and more. It also established its new venue in Hollywood Park, Inglewood (just outside the SoFi Stadium) as a well-suited location for its upcoming 10th-anniversary celebrations (and fifth year in the City of Angels)

The sequel to Disney/Pixar‘s Inside Out is heading to theaters next year, which means audiences get to experience the mind of a 13-year-old through the lens of her feelings and emotions. It should be the scariest horror movie of 2024.

With an older Riley comes new emotions, ones which Joy, Fear, Anger, Sadness, and Disgust are not used to. Inside Out 2 will feature a new group of emotions, including Anxiety.

An estimated 15 million adults in the U.S. struggle with anxiety, so of course a movie with a character called Anxiety was bound to get some heated opinions, and that’s when people turn to the internet. Anxiety will be voiced by Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke, and it seems like she has reached her target demographic in the form of Gen Z Twitter users who are into this whole idea.

Obviously, some people aren’t on board with introducing Anxiety as a cute little animated character, but they have failed to consider that this is a movie for children who have never heard of these concepts before, so maybe let’s just hear them out for a little bit?

Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black all return to Joy, Sadness, and Anger, while Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling are won’t be returning as Fear and Disgust in the sequel due to reported contract disputes. They have been replaced by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira.

Warner Bros. did it again. A little over a year after the studio shelved Batgirl, a new John Cena movie has suffered the same fate. Coyote vs. Acme, a hybrid live-action animated film that pitted the wrestler against the iconic Looney Tunes character has been locked in the WB vault.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Coyote vs. Acme had already completed the filming. However, like Batgirl, that couldn’t save the Cena film from Warner Bros. and its newfound semi-habit of taking a tax write-off on projects greenlit before the studio’s merger with Discovery:

The previous Warners regime greenlit the movie in December 2020 as a production for HBO Max, its fledgling streaming service. It later announced that Coyote would get a release on July 21, 2023. No trailer was ever released for the film, leading to questions about the studio’s intentions for the project. In April 2022, Warners removed the feature from its release calendar, putting Barbie on its July 21 release date.

Warner Bros. released the following statement to justify its decision to tank a whole entire movie starring John Cena that was already finished.

“With the re-launch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio has shifted its global strategy to focus on theatrical releases,” a Warner Bros. spokesperson said. “With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with Coyote vs Acme. We have tremendous respect for the filmmakers, casts, and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film.”

According to Deadline, Amazon and other streamers were interested in picking up the film, which reportedly received positive test scores, but ultimately Warner Bros. chose a $30 million write-off.

React Like You Know is back!

It’s been a long time — we shouldn’t have left you. But to make it up, our Studio crew — Carolyn Droke, Cherise Johnson, and Steve Vasquez — rounded up a new group of Gen Z faves to run through the millennial video mill and their reactions make the wait more than worth it.

This week, we’ve got Paramore‘s “Misery Business” video, with Uproxx cover stars Chloe Bailey and Coi Leray, Na-Kel Smith, NLE Choppa, Reason, Sexyy Red, and more giving their takes on the fashion and sounds of the 2000s — as well as sharing their stories about living through the song’s lyrical scenario.

As Cherise explains, “It’s Paramore’s version of ‘she can’t love you like I love you’” (what Choppa calls one of “man’s best headaches”). The artists share their stories about being torn between options and getting into literal fights over boys.

Meanwhile, Reason is mystified by Paramore’s looks, asking “Did white people in high school look like this?” Sexyy Red approves of Hayley Williams’ hair, while Chloe has fond memories of her and her sister Halle’s “Paramore and Avril Lavigne phase” joking, “That’d be me, breaking down and crying.”

The season two finale of Power Book IV: Force marks a big moment for Tommy, Diamond, and the rest of the CBI crew. Tommy and Diamond spent most of season two working on a plan to take the top position in Chicago’s drug game. They both wanted to cut out the middle man, that being Miguel Garcia, a dangerous a violent man with a direct connection to the cartel. Thanks to a new preview provided by STARZ, we now know that Tommy and Diamond’s mission for CBI was successful to some extent. However, that isn’t all the news that was shared that night.

In the new preview, Tommy and Diamond rally the CBI members to announce that “CBI runs the city.” Cheers ring out as Tommy thanks the crew for their help and commitment to the agenda. A short time after, Tommy and Diamond take a seat together and it’s here that Diamond questions the whereabouts of two members, Bones and Raheem, who were tasked with “dumping a body.” Diamond is a bit worried as he feels like Bones and Raheem are taking too long, but Tommy lets Diamond know that there’s a new plan in motion. “They ain’t dumping a body,” Tommy says coldly, to which Diamond replies, “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

We currently have no idea whose body is getting dumped, but it’s a question that will surely get answered during the season two finale of Power Book IV: Force.

What Is The Release Date For Power Book IV: Force Season 2, Episode 10?

New episodes of ‘Power Book IV: Force’ are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am ET/PT and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

After an offseason that saw the Miami Heat heavily involved in trade rumors, most notably for Damian Lillard, they entered this season without making any significant additions. That placed a heavy burden on their star players to carry the load, and through the start of the season their depth concerns have been apparent but covered up by the recent play of Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Jimmy Butler.

On Wednesday night, the Heat moved to 4-4 with a win over the Grizzlies to pick up their third consecutive win. Unfortunately, that win came at a price as Tyler Herro suffered an ankle sprain when he stepped on Jaren Jackson Jr.’s foot and had to leave the game. On Thursday, Shams Charania provided an update on Herro that was not particularly good news, as the young guard will miss at least two weeks time, including 10 days in a walking boot, after being diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain.

Herro is averaging 22.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game to start the season, providing them with much needed offensive creation from the backcourt and shooting a very robust 41 percent from three. He is leading the team in scoring and is second in assists, and given Miami’s lack of ball-handling on the roster, it figures to be difficult for them to navigate his absence. Kyle Lowry will need to take on an even bigger creative role, as will Butler and Adebayo to fill in the gaps. Guys like Josh Richardson and Jaime Jaquez Jr. likely will see their minutes load increase with the void left by Herro, and Miami will face quite the challenge until he returns.

Reacher is back, and he’s got a whole new release schedule for Season 2. The hulking giant played by Alan Ritchson will bust heads a little differently this time around as Reacher Season 2 slides into a weekly release schedule.

Like its title character, Reacher Season 1 slammed onto Amazon Prime Video with all of its episodes dropping at once. The series proved to be a huge hit for the streaming platform thanks to Ritchson’s no-nonsense performance and his imposing figure that made it very clear that you don’t want to be on the wrong side of the ex-military powerhouse.

For Season 2, Amazon is going to stretch these things out, so there’ll be plenty of Reacher to go around heading into winter. Here’s the release schedule:

You can’t get anything by those Swifties. A Taylor Swift fan account appears to have discovered that the singer may be changing the setlist for her history-making Eras Tour when it goes to South America, noting in a tweet (they’re still tweets, now and forever) that some of the songs she’d played throughout the tour weren’t in the rehearsal set for her upcoming Buenos Aires show. “‘The Archer,’ ‘Long Live’ & ‘Cardigan’ were not played during today rehearsal!” it read, concluding that this means “Taylor probably modified the tour setlist to add more songs!”

If that’s the case, it’ll mean her hardcore fans back home might be a little salty about missing out — or have all the more reason to hop a plane and try to catch a tan in Argentina (that is, if they can still get tickets). Then again, fans will have plenty of new T. Swift content to hold them over with the re-release of 1989 currently dominating the charts and her Eras Tour movie doing the same at the box office (which rumor has it isn’t the only movie she’s involved in this fall).

There are some skeptics online who believe that the only reason Swift did not sing those songs was to save time due to less choreography, and noted that “Cardigan” was played during the sound check, so take the above speculation with a grain of salt. Swifties love their theories, but this could turn out to be just another one of those that falls in the “wishful thinking” pile.

Have you ever seen someone live out their dream in real-time? Maybe. Have you ever seen someone singlehandedly bring back a discontinued food item for fun? Honestly, probably. But it never gets old when people are rewarded for their efforts, which is why these stories keep happening.

“Dollarita Steve” or Steve Mazzari as he’s known to his close personal friends and many Instagram DMs, went viral recently for his love of slammin’ Dollaritas, specifically during an earthquake that hit California. The “earthquake” thing was just a side note, though, as everyone quickly became obsessed with the Dollarita Steve and forgot about the fact that some tectonic plates were shifting around a bit. It happens often!

Not only did Dolarita Steve get the attention of the nation, but also captured the attention of your favorite casual eatery, Applebees. The chain teamed up with Steve to promote the return of the Dollartia, which will remain at the SF location through November. By “promote” they mean he really just stands there but now he gets at least a little bit of credit for the craze.

The people of Applebees nation (who are not allowed to use the term the Beehive for obvious reasons) are not unfamiliar with the popular drink. The Dollarita (not to be confused with Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Taco, because they have similar names when you read it after one too many margs) first made its way onto the scene in 2017 and quickly became a fan favorite. The chain brought the drink back earlier this fall, and now Steve is doing his part in making sure that it stays. Of course, people are weird about it, but whatever, the guy is just helping his friends get some cheap drinks…while also cashing in some Cameo money.

Now is your time to slam some ritas before Applesbee’s jacks up its price back up to $8.
