Daryl Hall Had Sued John Oates Over A Reported Planned Sale Of His Venture Half And A Violated Agreement

Days after it was revealed that Daryl Hall had filed a lawsuit and been granted a temporary restraining order against his former bandmate, John Oates, the public now knows why. According to the Associated Press, Hall sued over the fact that Oates planned to sell his half of their joint venture, which he is claiming violates their business agreement.

Filed in Nashville’s Chancery Court, the judge ruled to temporarily block Oates from completing this sale, until legal proceedings are finished. It turns out the temporary restraining order was also filed for a similar reason, citing that Oates and “others involved in his trust can’t move to close the sale of their share of Whole Oats Enterprises LLP to Primary Wave IP Investment Management LLC until an arbitrator in a separately filed case weighs in on the deal, or until the judge’s order expires,” per the publication.

While the order was granted the same day Hall filed the lawsuit, a lot of the details in the filing were “under seal” and not available to the public — leaving many with still quite a few questions.

AP also points out that Primary Wave has owned a “significant interest” in the Hall & Oates song catalog for over a decade, which Hall has expressed in previous interviews that he didn’t like it being “sold off,” as he told Sky News in 2021.

Taylor Swift Debuts ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’ And Brings Back A ‘Speak Now’ Fan-Favorite In Sao Paulo

Taylor Swift brought The Eras Tour to Sao Paulo, Brazil tonight, where she had a whole new set of surprise songs in store. Although some fans had suspected she would be announcing Reputation (Taylor’s Version) because of Black Friday, it seems we will all have to wait a while longer.

Swift did, however, treat the audience to a performance of one of her recent 1989 (Taylor’s Version) vault songs. As the first of the surprise set, she debuted “Now That We Don’t Talk” — which has been a favorite among fans, given it doesn’t hold back on roasting a certain rumored ex.

“I’ve never performed this one live before,” she said. “Let’s see how I do with it.”

The second of Swift’s surprise section found her taking to the piano for a gentle and emotional take of her 2010 Speak Now song, “Innocent.” It was also extra special because she hadn’t played the song live since that year’s Video Music Awards.

In the clips from the show, the crowd can be heard singing loudly along to all the words of both tracks.

Swift is set to play two more nights in Sao Paulo this weekend.

Noah Kahan Honored Olivia Rodrigo And Her Lyricism By Putting A Folksy Spin On ‘Lacy’ For ‘Live Lounge’

Noah Kahan recently hopped over to perform at BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge, where he treated listeners to a cover of a song by someone who recently covered him. Kahan put a new spin on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Lacy,” a track from her sophomore album, Guts. (A few weeks ago, Rodrigo herself was at the Live Lounge, where she showed off her folksier side too by performing Kahan’s “Stick Season.”)

Kahan said he chose the song because it was “so beautiful and it highlights what I love so much about Olivia’s lyricism, it’s very dynamic and it just makes you feel an emotion we’ve all experienced before.”

The performance opens with Kahan’s backup band, including the choice to add a banjo to the instrumental. Kahan then leans into the quieter aspects of the song, which elevates the emotions in the lyrics. By the time he gets to the “Ooh I care, I care, I care” chorus, several vocalists back him too — adding a bunch of powerful choices to the cover.

By the time Kahan hits the second verse, he does start to lift the mood and shifts the instrumental — making it feel more like an upbeat folk song.

When Rodrigo covered “Stick Season,” Kahan also expressed praise for the pop star — mainly her choosing his song to cover, out of all the ones she could have picked. (And who can blame her? It rules.)

Jon Batiste Honors His Love As ‘It Never Went Away’ In A Ballad For The Upcoming ‘American Symphony’ Doc

Jon Batiste treated fans to a new ballad, “It Never Went Away,” which he wrote about his relationship with author and artist, Suleika Jaoaud. The couple is the center of the forthcoming Netflix documentary, American Symphony, and Batiste’s song will be on the soundtrack.

Directed by Matthew Heineman, it finds the couple having a tough year. Batiste is attempting to compose his first symphony, which ties into the film’s title. Meanwhile, Jaoaud is battling lung cancer.

The themes of struggle play into “It Never Went Away,” as he acknowledges that they will still love each other — even if the times might be tough right now. He co-wrote the track with Semisonic’s Dan Wilson.

“‘It Never Went Away’ details a love that outlasts any condition of the physical world,” Batiste added in a statement. “It probes the question of our mortality, while at the same time speaking to the enduring quality of our deepest callings and desires. That part of us that stands in protest to the ills of the physical world is, in fact, evidence of our perpetual nature.”

American Symphony will be available to stream on Netflix starting on November 29. Batiste previously released his Grammy-nominated World Music Radio album back in August.

Women are cheering on a mom who left her husband after he refused to clean the house for 6 days

A viral TikTok video highlights an extreme version of inequality that many wives and mothers in heterosexual relationships face. However, the mom in this story hit her limit and won’t deal with it anymore.

Lynalice Bandy, who goes by @5kids5catssomedogstoo on TikTok, posted a video that showed her home looking like a disaster after she worked six 10-hour days straight while her husband did nothing to help.

Her time-lapse video shows every room in the house completely trashed, with toys, food and laundry scattered everywhere. “Shampoo on the carpets in the girls’ room, nail polish all over Nugget covers, hair, and carpet. Scissors were used to cut hair, the down comforter, the mattress cover, and two Nugget covers,” wrote the mom.

“I’ve worked six, ten-hour days in a row with only one day off being a sick day,” she captioned the video. “I’d like to pretend I’m not the only person who cleans here, but as you can see…These rooms don’t get much attention when I’m not here.”

She says her husband’s excuse was that he was focused on doing his schoolwork and couldn’t pay attention to the kids. “Now, that school is out for a break, he doesn’t have that excuse anymore,” Bandy says, noting that all of his attention has been focused on “the four vehicles in our driveway that he wants to work on continuously.”

In a follow-up video, Bandy announced that she left her husband after the debacle. The original video received over 17,000 comments, many of which were from supportive women.

“You deserve much better, and he deserves to be alone. Much love to you from someone that left that life behind almost 20 yrs ago. You’ll get here, too,” Angela LaRoche wrote.

“Ma’am, you are nothing short of amazing! Hang in there!” Japanese with Jenny wrote.

“That home is beautiful because of YOU,” Hillary added. “You put in so much work, and it is not unseen by me and so many others. But, you DO deserve better. Proud of you.”

@5kids5catssomedogstoo

Sounds about right…

Even though Bandy’s experience with her husband is an extreme case of a couple whose domestic duties are way out of balance, it points to a problem that plagues many households. Even though it’s 2023 and families are becoming more equal, women still do significantly more housework than men.

A study utilizing data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ American Time Use Survey found that women 15 years and older spend 5.7 hours daily doing housework and looking after kids and elders. Men in the same age group do an average of 3.6 hours of daily domestic work.

That’s a 37% difference in time spent on household responsibilities.

Further, women who work an average of 35 hours a week spend 4.9 hours a day on household chores and child care, while men who work the same amount spend an average of 3.8 hours.

The comments show that there are a lot of women out there who are frustrated with their husbands for not doing their fair share. Hopefully, this video will encourage more people to speak out about domestic inequality and for more men to step up and do their part.

Woman sends her mom pictures of random babies in an effort to get her to an eye doctor

Every once in a while it’s fun to play pranks on people you love so long as they’re harmless and everyone gets to laugh, including the person being pranked. It can turn into a funny story to share with other people or you can accidentally start a never ending prank war. It’s a toss up really but one that will certainly cause belly laughs.

When Emily Haswell had her first child a little over a year ago, she noticed that her mom seemed to need glasses but refused to see the eye doctor. Instead of nagging her mother who visits weekly to see her grand baby, Haswell decided she would pull a prank designed to force her mom to admit she needed glasses. The new mom decided to share the results of her prank on her social media pages.

Haswell admitted to her followers that her mother not only visited once a week to see the baby but would ask for daily pictures of her new grandchild. But instead of sending pictures of her daughter, Sadie every time, Haswell started sending pictures of random babies she found on the internet to see how long it would take for her mom to notice.

“Hi guys! My mom asks for pictures of my baby every day, she also refuses to go to the optometrist so I have decided to start sending her pictures of random white babies I find on the internet until she notices,” Haswell reveals in her intro to the short lived prank series. “Just to be clear, I also send her real pictures of my baby and she sees my baby like once a week.”

By day three, grandma seemed to suspect but didn’t outright deny the baby that was sent was Sadie so the prank continued. It lasted a full seven days before the silly series ended but commenters were invested.

“Nah, girl. You need to double down. Something like “Wow, really, mom? Not recognizing your own granddaughter? Nice…,” someone wrote.

“This is just truly chefs kiss of quick entertainment 🤌. The investment is real and heavy,” another person said.

There doesn’t seem to be a conclusion on the series but with a new baby, mom brain is real and we’re just glad Haswell gifted us with this comical multi-day prank.

Woman shares the very real struggle of trying to do yoga with a Bernese Mountain Dog

Anyone who has a dog knows that they will never leave you alone when you are exercising. When you pull out the workout mat, the dog knows you’re about to get active and absolutely has to be involved. They see you stooped down to their level and assume you’ve stooped to their level and it’s time to wrestle.

A TikTokker named Grizzly Bane, 27, showed how much dogs love to play with us while we’re trying to exercise in a clip where she has to fight a Bernese Mountain Dog off her yoga mat. Her efforts are unsuccessful, but the video is adorable. The video also gives her a great excuse next time she doesn’t feel like like working out: “My dog wouldn’t let me!”

“Exercise with your dog they said,” Grizzly Bane captioned her video.

Career coach shares the phrase that will stop passive-aggressive coworkers in their tracks

Dealing with passive-aggressive people, whether at work or in family life, can be very frustrating. It’s like trying to solve a puzzle without all the pieces. Their indirect communication and subtle digs force you to guess what they mean, turning simple conversations into a minefield.

It’s draining because you’re always on edge, trying to decode hidden messages or intentions, which can create a tense atmosphere. It’s tough to have to go through all the extra work when you’re just trying to get along and keep things smooth.

It also means that passive-aggressive people can take shots at you that you can’t defend because they hide behind the plausible deniability that they were just being helpful.

Jennifer Brick, a career counselor who goes by the moniker “Your Career Bestie” has some excellent advice for those forced to deal with passive-aggressive people. She has a simple phrase that, when delivered correctly, can stop them from getting beneath your skin.

@jenniferbrick

Replying to @brett.lancaster you shutdown your passive aggressive coworker, here’s why they aren’t going to admit they’re trying to be hurtful. #career #fyp

“I started using this with passive-aggressive people last year, and there has not been even one case where I have used it where the person hasn’t backed off with their toxic little tail between their legs,” she said in a video with over 1.4 million views.

Brick advises that when dealing with someone who’s passive-aggressive, to in “your most neutral tone” and ask one simple yet direct question: “Are you trying to be helpful or hurtful?”

Brick’s approach is a confident, but non-confrontational way of exposing the passive-aggressive person for their toxic tactics while allowing them to save face. That can be important when you have to deal with them on a regular basis.

In a follow-up video, she notes that it is “by design” that the person will say they’re being helpful.

@jenniferbrick

Replying to @beachy625 ofc they’re going to lie, we expect them to. here’s why…

“The statement I shared in that video is a light confrontation, and they are going to avoid it at all costs,” she continued. “They are going to backpedal, they are not going to say that their intention is to be hurtful. They want to conceal their toxic selves,” Brick concluded.

Bricks’ advice is helpful because people use passive-aggressive communication to hide behind their nefarious ways so they can be hard to expose. This is a way for you to acknowledge their unfair communication tactics without ratcheting the situation up into a full-blown confrontation.

Dr. Cortney Warren agrees with Brick’s tactic. The Harvard-trained psychologist says the key is to remain neutral with the person and ask them about their intentions, just like Brick. “You could say something like: ‘I know you’re telling me you’re not upset, but it doesn’t feel that way to me.’ Or, ‘I get the impression that you’re upset. Do you want to talk about it?’” she tells CNBC.

This is another way to confidently address the aggressive hidden message without being confrontational.

“Remind them that you care and are willing to talk if and when they’re ready,” Dr. Warren continues. “In the meantime, walk away and focus on what you do have control over: you.”

During yesterday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, K-Pop band Enhypen appeared on a giant float of Baby Shark. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a children’s cartoon that started from a viral song in 2016, which the South Korean entertainment company Pinkfong, released. Now, they’re making it into a fittingly titled Baby Shark’s Big Movie.

Enhypen appears on the soundtrack with their song “Keep Swimmin’ Through,” which they performed at the parade. Before they showed off their killer choreography, a snippet of the “do do do Baby Shark” track prefaced their own.

However, social media users who were watching the Parade thought the float was way too small for the band, both for their height and their status — providing some hilarious reactions.

Enhypen is also set to appear in the movie as a singing group of Beluga whales.

The rest of Baby Shark’s Big Movie‘s cast has major names too. Cardi B and Offset will be returning as their characters of… Sharki B and Offshark. Their two children are also set to make a cameo, getting their own aquatic-themed names in the process. Lance Bass will also play himself as a TV presenter, according to Rolling Stone.
