Here’s Where You Can Stream Matthew Perry’s Best Work (Beyond ‘Friends’)

Following the tragic passing of beloved actor Matthew Perry, tributes have been pouring in for the iconic star who most famously played Chandler on the hit NBC sitcom Friends. However, the actor hoped to be known for more than his role as the sarcastic quipster who would defy odds by finding love and happiness with Courteney Cox’s Monica by the time the series reached the end of its 10 season run.

While the entirety of Friends is readily available for streaming on Max, and with a tribute to Perry now included with each episode, here’s where you can find more of the actor’s work beyond his time as a constant denizen of Central Perk.

A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon

In this 1998 movie, Perry stars alongside River Phoenix as two high school pals trying to figure out what to do with themselves after graduating. In his memoir, Perry spoke fondly of filming his first movie and becoming friends with the rising Phoenix.

“It was in Chicago, and on this movie, and with River Phoenix, that I fell deeply in love with acting — and the cherry on top of this deeply magical time was that River and I became firm friends,” Perry wrote via USA Today. “He and I drank beer and shot pool on North Rush Street.”

Available for rental or purchase on Prime Video.

Fools Rush In

In this 1997 romantic comedy, Perry stars as a stuffy businessman who somehow scores a one night stand with Isabel, a lively Latina woman played by Salma Hayek. However, when Isabel discovers she’s pregnant, the two decide to throw caution to the wind and get married even though they barely know each other. Isabel’s extremely protective family doesn’t make things any easier.

Available for streaming on Prime Video.

The Whole Nine Yards

In this oddball comedy, Perry plays Nicholas “Oz” Oseransky, a mild-mannered Chicago dentist who gets tangled up with the mob after hitman Jimmy “The Tulip” Tudeski (Bruce Willis) moves next door. Jimmy has a price on his head, and Oz needs money to save his debt-strapped practice after his business partner commits suicide. Realizing he can solve his money problems by revealing Jimmy’s location, Oz finds himself neck-deep in the murder-for-hire business and all of the double-crossing that entails.

Available for rental or purchase on Prime Video and Apple TV.

Serving Sara

Returning to the romantic genre, Perry plays Joe Tyler, a process server who finds himself on the run with Sara Moore (Elizabeth Hurley), the soon-to-be divorced wife of a wealthy Texas businessman (Bruce Campbell). Desperate to hold onto the money she’s amassed from her marriage, Sara ropes Joe into her plot as the two take off across the country and maybe find a little love along the way.

Available for streaming on Starz.

The Whole Ten Yards

In this sequel to The Whole Nine Yards, Oz (Perry) and Jimmy (Bruce Wills) are now best buds who find themselves on the wrong side of the Hungarian gangster Gogolak (Kevin Pollak). With Oz’s wife held captive, he and Jimmy once again navigate the world of Mafia hitmen in this darkly comedic romp that shows a surprisingly softer, more sensitive side to Willis.

Available for streaming on Max.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Perry returned to his old NBC stomping grounds with this Aaron Sorkin comedy/drama that also re-teamed the actor with his The Whole Nine Yards co-star Amanda Peet. The show centers on the production of Studio 60, a Saturday Night Live-esque sketch comedy show, that’s on the precipice of being canceled unless writer Matt Albie (Perry) and returning showrunner Danny Tripp (Bradley Whitford) can turn things around. Think 30 Rock, but more drama than sitcom.

Available for purchase on Prime Video.

The Odd Couple

Perry makes his return to the sitcom world with this update of the classic TV series where he stars alongside Thomas Lennon as modern-day versions of Felix and Oscar. Like the original, the two have extremely different personalities that isn’t exactly conducive to being roommates.

Available for streaming on Paramount+.

Raye And Hans Zimmer Deliver An Ode To ‘Mother Nature’ On Their Gorgeous Collab For ‘Planet Earth III’

Raye recently teamed up with Hans Zimmer for a special new collaboration titled “Mother Nature.” Written for the David Attenborough-presented show, Planet Earth III, the two focus on just how important keeping nature on Earth protected is.

The song is featured in a trailer for the upcoming series, as it soundtracks breathtaking images of animals. “Good morning,” Raye sings, as an ape opens its eyes. It also features backing vocals from Bastille’s Dan Smith.

“I am a Planet Earth stan, I’ve watched religiously for years, so having this opportunity open for me doesn’t even feel real,” Raye shared in a statement. “David Attenborough and Hans Zimmer are two of my heroes, to be able to compose a song with Hans is BEYOND a wildest dream, and then to hear Sir David narrate over and in between my voice actually brings tears to my eyes. To be able to contribute in my small way to this massively important and equally beautiful documentary series is an honour and a moment I will always cherish.”

“Creating scores for any of the BBC’s Natural History series is always an honor for me as there are no more epic stories than those occurring naturally every day in our own planet’s ecosystem,” Zimmer added. “For Planet Earth III it’s a further privilege to bring the incredible world class talents of Bastille and RAYE to create both a wonderful soundscape for the series and the beautiful, poignant track, ‘Mother Nature.’”

When Will Surprise Box-Office Hit ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Be On Streaming?

A group of mass-murdering animatronics managed to scare up big numbers at the box office over the weekend, but for fans who couldn’t trek to theaters to see the latest horror hit, Five Nights At Freddy’s, we’ve got good news … it’s already streaming.

The Josh Hutcherson-starring thriller based on the popular video game landed in theaters and on Peacock over the weekend as part of Universal and Blumhouse’s day-and-date streaming release plan. Though the streaming platform isn’t free, a subscription to Peacock costs just $5.99 per month — considerably less than a movie ticket. Despite being cheaper to stream, the Emma Tammi-directed horror flick drew some pretty impressive crowds to theaters, toppling Taylor Swift’s box office reign and outperforming expectations with a massive $80 million domestic debut.

“The IP is ridiculously popular, and Blumhouse and our director Emma Tammi did an amazing job of translating that to the big screen,” Universal’s president of domestic distribution Jim Orr told Variety. “The genre lends itself to people wanting to experience it together.”

Produced by horror maestro Jason Blum, the film sees Hutcherson playing a security guard working the night shift at a kitschy kid’s eaterie called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza — a fast food joint with some eerie similarities to Chuck E. Cheese. The difference between the two? The cutesy animatronic performers at Freddy’s are more interested in torturing than entertaining patrons — especially after closing time.

According to Blum, who posted a thank you to fans showing up in theaters for the film’s debut, Five Nights At Freddy’s has become the company’s biggest opening of all time.

Here Are The Openers For Doja Cat’s ‘The Scarlet Tour’

This week, Doja Cat begins the tour for her fourth studio album, Scarlet. The Scarlet Tour kicks off in San Francisco on Halloween, then runs through December 13 in Chicago.

Doja will be supported by two artists on the tour: Doechii and Ice Spice. You can learn more about them below.

Who Is Opening Doja Cat’s The Scarlet Tour?

Doechii

Tampa, Florida rapper Doechii is, like Doja Cat, as talented at slinging witty bars as she is at breaking genre conventions and transgressing societal ones. She first broke out in 2021 with her viral single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake,” signing to Top Dawg Entertainment (the former label home of Kendrick Lamar), and embarking on a one-woman quest to completely upset the status quo of rap. After a breakout performance on labelmate Isaiah Rashad’s “Wat U Sed,” she was partnered with Capitol Records and took a hard left turn with the house-influenced “Persuasive.” A later single, “Crazy,” combated the sexualization of women in pop culture, then her debut EP She / Her / Black Bitch continued challenging misogyny and anti-Blackness in culture. She’s working on her debut full-length album now.

Ice Spice

Like Doechii, Ice Spice owes her notoriety to TikTok. Her single “Munch (Feelin’ U)” was a viral sensation, sparking a new slang term and making Ice Spice an instantly recognizable face to the under-thirty set with her orphan Annie orange curls and ample lower-body proportions. With a flow like a female Pop Smoke, her drill rap takes on “Bikini Bottom” and “In Ha Mood” continued driving her success until the PinkPantheress collaboration “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2” gave her her highest-charting single. She released her debut EP, Like…? in 2023. She’s since collaborated multiple times with Nicki Minaj (“Princess Diana,” “Barbie World”), as well as with Taylor Swift (“Karma”), building anticipation for her full-length debut.

Here Are The Musical Guests For ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ This Week

This week, Jimmy Kimmel Live! has a truly stacked lineup of musical guests planned — providing something for pretty much every type of listener. Here’s what to know about who will be appearing or performing on his late-night show for Halloween week.

Sean “Diddy” Combs — Monday, October 30

Tonight, Diddy will appear on Kimmel’s show to chat with him. While he isn’t the musical guest tonight, the two will likely have a lot to talk about, given he returned with a new album titled The Love Album: Off The Grid last month.

Jessie Murph — Monday, October 30

Jessie Murph is one of Monday’s musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She is a 19-year-old rising pop performer who made waves last year with her song, “Pray,” which charted in the UK.

Jelly Roll — Monday, October 30

The other is a country-inspired rapper called Jelly Roll, as he collaborated with Murph on a song titled “Wild Ones” that dropped a few weeks ago — which is what the two will be playing.

Madison Beer — Tuesday, October 31

Madison Beer is the musical guest on Halloween. Last month, Beer dropped her second studio album, Silence Between Songs, which is filled with thrilling pop hits including her early single, “Home To Another One.”

Devon Gilfillian — Wednesday, November 1

On Wednesday, soul musician Devon Gilfillian will take the show’s stage. Some viewers might recognize him, as he previously appeared on Kimmel’s show back in 2020, where he performed his song, “The Good Life.” Given he dropped a new album, Love You Anyway, back in April, his performance will likely be tied to that.

Mariah Carey — Thursday, November 2

As the holiday and winter season approaches, Mariah Carey is the perfect guest to kick off that spirit. This time around, Carey won’t be performing, but her presence alone will surely help the audience stay festive and entertained.

Allison Russell — Thursday, November 2

Wrapping out the performances this week, Allison Russell will likely play a selection from her recent September album, The Returner. While it is her second solo record, Russell previously played in a number of different musical groups.

The NBA Unveiled Colorful In-Season Tournament Courts For All 30 Teams

The NBA is doing its best to make the In-Season Tournament stand out in its inaugural year. With group games beginning this weekend, the league has been trying to get fans excited with a (very good) Heist ad campaign that is running on most game broadcasts, but one of the biggest challenges is making the games, which are just regular season games with a tournament designation, feel a bit more important.

The league has been trying to spice up the regular season for some time and they hope the tournament can do that, but they also know they can’t just have the same look and feel as any other game. As such, the league unveiled new courts for all 30 teams that are very colorful and will undoubtedly stand out from what we see on a nightly basis — many of which take cues from this year’s City Edition uniforms.

Now, while I don’t think all of them are great, I do think it’s a smart move from the NBA to make tournament games easily identifiable when you turn one on. Given the groups aren’t going to be remembered by most fans — and they’re going to change every year — it’s going to be a bit tricky remembering what games are cup games. However, with the courts being so different from the normal courts — and even alternates teams go to sometimes — it’s going to be immediately understood when you’re watching a tournament game, which is needed to get people invested in it.

While some teams went with a pretty basic approach, others got wild with their designs, with the Pelicans, Pacers, Suns, and Knicks getting very colorful.
