Jimmy Kimmel made a bold proclamation about Donald Trump on Tuesday night, and the late night host has the goods to back up. The former president experienced back-to-back blows this week courtesy of Jenna Ellis and Mark Meadows, and Kimmel is confident that these developments will put Trump away.

“I’m telling you right now, Donald Trump is going to jail,” Kimmel said during his monologue before breaking down how Trump just took a hit in the January 6 indictment he’s facing in Washington D.C. and the RICO charges he’s battling in Georgia.

“Today alone, [Trump’s] former chief of staff Mark Meadows we learned has immunity in the January 6 case. He will testify that he repeatedly told Trump that the allegations of voting fraud were baseless, which is the opposite of what Trump says,” Kimmel said via The Daily Beast. “His former lawyer Jenna Ellis pleaded guilty to felony charges of aiding and abetting false statements in the Georgia election tampering case, and will likely testify against her former client.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Kimmel noted a third legal blow that slipped under the radar.

“Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, testified against him in the fraud trial in New York today,” Kimmel said before joking, “Half of Trump’s lawyers are trying to keep him out of prison, the other half are trying to keep themselves out of prison.”

Kimmel then highlighted a recent clip where Trump called Cohen a “proven liar,” and the late night host agreed.

“He is a liar,” Kimmel quipped. “He lied for you. He was your lawyer who mortgaged his own house to pay off the porn star you asked to spank your fat, pink ass with a Forbes magazine.”

Drake often alludes to liquor and spirit brands in his music. On his 2021 single “Girls Want Girls,” he parties in the club with Casamigos. He proudly carries Hennesy in his hand on his 2016 single, “One Dance.” But one particular beverage stands out as the rapper’s favorite.

In a recent interview shared to TikTok, Drake revealed that his favorite drink is Onda, a seltzer with a tequila base.

Drake is often seen in clubs and at parties with the drink in hand. While the drink comes in a can, Drake often pours it over ice, into a spherical glass.

“Everybody always sees me with this drink and they ask me what it is and they ask me for one,” said Drake in the TikTok clip. “It’s an Onda; a tequila spritz-esque cocktail, passion fruit flavor by the way.”

Onda Tequila Seltzer was founded in July of 2020 by Noah Gray, the Chief Executive Officer; Max Dworin, Chief Operating Officer; Kelli Adams, Chief Creative Officer; and Pretty Little Liars actress Shay Mitchell, Chief Brand Officer.

In the clip, Drake shouts out the fellow Canadian, and reiterates his love for the drink.

“Shout out to my brother Matt, shout out to Shay — of course, Shay Mitchell — who came up with this product,” said Drake. “And now I drink it every day. I’m probably on my millionth glass.”

Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis had resolved to live-laugh-love her way through indictment proceedings, and she sold the smiliest mugshot merch ever known on this planet. She was displaying neither of these positive moods, however, while submitting her guilty plea for her role in the Trump Campaign’s disastrous “Strike Force” attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Ellis began weeping in open court while claiming to Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee that she had neglected to do “due diligence” by fact-checking the claims made by other Trump attorneys. That detail wasn’t of too much concern to Stephen Colbert, who nailed Ellis shortly after the 4:45 mark in the above video. Instead, Colbert blamed the tears on Rudy Giuliani’s notoriously audible fart, which Ellis definitely noticed when it initially happened during a Michigan hearing.

Colbert is pretty sure that Ellis “especially” regrets “this famous outburst from Rudy Giuliani’s legal briefs.” He added, “We know why she was crying in court. Because her eyes were still burning.”

It was a fart that Rudy put a lot of oomph into, so that makes sense. Ellis even came down with Covid shortly after that incident, so the running joke at the time was that Rudy’s tush did it. It was such a powerful outburst, yes, that it threatened to overshadow the hair dye debacle, but not quite.

Britney Spears recently released her new memoir, The Woman In Me, and it is gaining a ton of attention for how much the pop star reveals. One of the passages finds her discussing how her team was portraying her sexuality in a way that wasn’t entirely true to her real life.

“Given that I had so many teenage fans, my managers and press people had long tried to portray me as an eternal virgin — never mind that Justin [Timberlake] and I had been living together, and I’d been having sex since I was fourteen,” Spears wrote, according to People.

“Why did my managers work so hard to claim I was some kind of young-girl virgin even into my twenties? Whose business was it if I’d had sex or not?” she added.

Spears also goes on to appreciate the fact that Oprah Winfrey had told her that “sexuality was no one else’s business.”

Throughout the rest of her memoir, Spears had a lot more to say about her relationship with Timberlake. Before the book’s release, it was reported that Spears revealed that she had an abortion during their relationship.

Since then, people are also talking about an interaction she witnessed when Timberlake was meeting Ginuwine, and it was certainly something.

Olivia Rodrigo, as you surely know, is a singer and songwriter. More broadly speaking, she’s a musician, and even more broadly than that, she’s an entertainer. The trouble with describing somebody as an entertainer, though, is that it’s not a very specific term and it could mean any number of things. On at least one occasion, this led to Rodrigo being mistaken for a stripper.

Rodrigo was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (October 24), and a few minutes into the conversation, Kimmel asked what Rodrigo’s parents think of all her success. Rodrigo noted that while her father proudly brags about Rodrigo’s goings-on, her mother is more modest. Kimmel asked for an example of that and Rodrigo explained:

“Last year, I thought it was so funny: I was in Vegas for the Grammys, Grammys happened in Vegas last year. She was getting her hair done and the hairdresser’s like, ‘Oh, how old’s your daughter?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, she’s 19.’ ‘Oh, where is she right now?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, she’s working in Vegas,’ and [the hairdresser said], ‘Oh, well, what does she do?’ And my mom’s like, ‘Um… she’s in entertainment.’”

At this point, the audience laughed as they figured out where this story was heading. Rodrigo continued, “And so the hairdresser just stops asking questions because she thinks that I’m a stripper, which, God bless, I wish I had the core strength to do that, but that’s not me. So now, any time someone asks about my career, she just kind of makes them think I’m a stripper.”

During a campaign stop in New Hampshire this week, Donald Trump had the same mind-blowing revelation as millions of stoned high schoolers before him: the word “us” is spelled the same as U.S.

“Macron, nice guy, he’s for France – I’m for us,” the former president said, referring to French president Emmanuel Macron. “I’m for us. You know how you spell us, right? You spell us ‘U.S.’ I just picked that up. Has anyone ever thought of that before? I just picked that up. A couple of days, I’m reading and said us. And I said, you know, when you think about it, us equals U.S. Now, if we say something genius, they’ll never say it. You know, we get 25, 30, 40, 50, 80,000, 100,000 people to speeches, they’ve never said, ‘Trump’s a great speaker!’ Never said, I never heard it.” It goes on like that…

Do you know what the “very stable genius” is talking about? I don’t. And neither does Jimmy Fallon. After playing footage from the rally on Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show, the host was left speechless. That’s not easy to do. “I’m giving you all a few seconds to process that,” he said, ending the silence. “It’s going to be a pretty interesting presidential library.”

Eminem is a rap god, sure, but he’s also a branding god. The rapper has really leaned into the iconic “mom’s spaghetti” lyric from “Lose Yourself” over the years, most notably with a pop-up spaghetti restaurant before parlaying the concept into a permanent Detroit restaurant. Now, he’s bringing his mother’s pasta dish to the masses with Mom’s Spaghetti, a new line of pasta sauce.

Eminem announced it on social media last night (October 24), sharing a promotional video of jars of sauce hurtling towards the ground. One smashes before the video cuts to an unbroken product shot that notes, “The sauce is dropping.” This isn’t something happening in the distant future, as Mom’s Spaghetti is set to be made available on October 26 (AKA tomorrow). Em also linked to the Mom’s Spaghetti website in his bio, which at the moment has an email sign-up form to “get first access to the sauce & future Mom’s Spaghetti updates.”

Speaking of “Lose Yourself,” the song made some political news this summer when Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy gave a cringeworthy performance of the song at a campaign stop. Eminem was not feeling that even a little bit and the rapper actually sent Ramaswamy a cease and desist letter.

LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers into Denver on Tuesday night, and while they were unable to pick up a win as the defending champion Nuggets got their rings, James was able to make a couple of fans happy. Of course, these were not normal fans, as LeBron took a few moments after the game to meet up with the two biggest stars of the Colorado Buffaloes football team, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

The duo went to the NBA’s season opener alongside head coach Deion Sanders, and after the Nuggets wrapped up their 119-107 win, James made his way over to say hello. After stressing that he loved both of them, the Buffs’ standout quarterback said he needed to get his hands on James’ jersey. While we don’t know if he agreed to that, we do know that the whole interaction got Hunter extremely excited.

Outside of being able to make Sanders and Hunter’s nights, James had a nice evening in his first official game as the oldest player in the NBA. The future Hall of Fame inductee went for 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a steal in 29 minutes of work while shooting 10-for-16 from the field.

As for the pair of Colorado stars, they’ll look to get back on track after picking up a loss in their last game two weeks ago to Stanford. The team travels to Los Angeles this week for a primetime matchup with the UCLA Bruins.

The Golden State Warriors are just two seasons removed from winning their fourth championship of the last decade, but there are plenty of questions for them to answer this season as they look to bounce back from a bit of a down year that saw them land the 6-seed in the West and get bounced in the second round.

On Tuesday they played host to the Suns in the nightcap of the NBA’s opening night festivities on TNT, offering an early measuring stick game for both teams — with both being without a key player. Phoenix was without Bradley Beal, as the newest member of the Suns is dealing with a tweaked back, and the Warriors were without their defensive leader in Draymond Green as he works his way back from an ankle injury. The absence of Green loomed large in the first half, as the Suns got busy on offense in the second quarter to dart out to a 15-point halftime lead.

Despite it being just one half of basketball and the Warriors being down their best defender, Charles Barkley had seen enough of the Warriors to declare them dead, 24 minutes into the season.

Naturally, the Warriors went on a 25-5 run to open the third quarter and immediately retake the lead over the Suns, and if they end up winning, the postgame show will almost assuredly flashback to laugh at Chuck. If you want to say the Warriors aren’t in the very top tier of contenders in the NBA this season, you wouldn’t find a ton of argument outside the Bay Area, but to call them “cooked” after a half of basketball was maybe Chuck getting out in front of his skis a bit. That said, he’s said this before and seems to just be doubling down on his proclamation from last year that got Draymond Green very mad at him — with TNT almost assuredly calling Dray in after this one, especially if Golden State gets the win.

Richard Roundtree had a long and storied career, with over 150 credits and dozens of characters. But sometimes an actor needs but one role to make history. Roundtree had John Shaft. He played the private dick across five movies and a TV show, in turn reshaping what Black masculinity looked like onscreen.

On Tuesday Roundtree passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 81.

Released in 1971, Shaft instantly catapulted the largely unknown Roundtree to superstardom. It was his first movie. His entrance is like watching God walk amongst humans. John Shaft emerges from a Times Square subway station, clad in a brown leather jacket, collar up, to the strains of Isaac Hayes’ Oscar-winning song. He walks across 8th Avenue, cooly dodging cars until a cab almost hits him. He flips the cabbie the bird.

Shaft wasn’t the first Blaxploitation hit. That would be Melvin Van Peeble’s Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song. But it helped define an era of cinema in which Black protagonists, historically depicted as servile or victims, won. Roundtree soon returned to the role for Shaft’s Big Score!, and again for Shaft in Africa, and once again for a short-lived TV show.

When Samuel L. Jackson starred in his own Shaft movie, it wasn’t a remake. He played John Shaft, alright, just not that John Shaft. He was the nephew of the original, played again by Richard Roundtree. (He did the same thing for the 2019 film also, confusingly, called Shaft.)

Roundtree never had a role as rich or as cool as John Shaft, but he was always around, and always a welcome presence. He appeared in the disaster movie Earthquake, opposite Peter O’Toole in the Robinson Crusoe movie Man Friday, with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds in City Heat. He appeared with Michael Moriarty and David Carradine in the nifty low-budget monster movie Q.He played the mayor in Se7en. On television he was part of the vast ensemble in the seminal Roots.

Roundtree left an indelible mark on American culture. His passing was mourned by those who knew him, including Jackson, who called him “The Best To Ever Do It!!”
