Britney Spears Admitted That She Thinks A Fan-Favorite Music Video Of Hers Is ‘So Tacky’

Britney Spears isn’t holding back. Her new memoir The Woman In Me hit shelves today, and fans are shaken up by the book’s revelations. Between the family drama and the Justin Timberlake tea, Spears has the world talking.

But throughout the book, Spears makes additional confessions regarding her career — which is comprised of several hit singles and iconic music videos. However, one of her videos is one she would rather not think about.

In 2007, Spears hit single “Gimme More” from her fifth studio album, Blackout, marked a new era for the pop hitmaker, who had spent much of the year under media scrutiny following a public meltdown. While the song and its legendary “It’s Britney, b*tch” intro remain a fan favorite, Spears revealed she’s not fond of the song’s accompanying visual.

“I don’t like it at all – it’s so tacky,” said Spears. “It looks like we only spent three thousand dollars to shoot it. Even though it was bad, it worked for what it was.”

In the video, Spears is seen chatting in a bar with friends, then pole dancing in the bar. Though Spears doesn’t care much for the “Gimme More” video, the album, Blackout, remains a fan favorite. It’s also a favorite of Spears herself.

“I felt so much freedom,” said Spears. “Working with amazing producers, I got to play. I loved that no one was overthinking things and that I got to say what I liked and didn’t like. I knew exactly what I wanted, and I loved so much of what was offered to me.”

The Woman In Me is out now via Simon & Schuster. Find more information here.

Charles Barkley Confronted Adam Silver On ‘Disturbing Incidents Of Domestic Violence In The NBA Right Now’

As he does every year on opening night, NBA commissioner Adam Silver joined the Inside the NBA crew at the TNT desk on Tuesday to discuss the offseason, changes the NBA is making, and the upcoming year.

The hot topic coming into the evening was load management, as it often is, and Charles Barkley praised the league for taking strides to try and keep star players on the floor more often. However, Barkley is also not afraid to ask more difficult questions when they are necessary, and on Tuesday, he pressed Silver on the recent domestic violence incidents from Miles Bridges and Kevin Porter Jr., insisting the league needs to be at the “forefront” of addressing those issues and do a better job preventing and punishing them.

It’s a very good question from Barkley, and not one every league broadcast partner would ask in that forum. Silver notes a new program with the Players Association to address accusations of domestic violence as well as training and counseling efforts, but did not get into how the league has handled player punishment. The NBA’s suspension of Bridges for only 10 games to start this season, citing last year when he did not have a contract as counting as games served for 20 games of his suspension, was criticized for being far too lenient.

Future Islands Announced Their New Album, ‘People Who Aren’t There Anymore’ With A Video For ‘The Tower’

Future Islands is kicking off 2024 with new music. Today (October 24), the band announced their new album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore, which is set to arrive in January.

Ahead of the album, Future Islands has shared a new single, “The Tower.” Over a soft, smooth piano track, which quickly transitions into a zippy, pulsating electronic beat, lead vocalist Samuel T. Herring, seeks guidance by light, as he learns lessons from the people around him.

In the song’s accompanying video, directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken, the band is seen on a beach, as a light from a tower shines upon them.

Van Tulleken and Herring have previously worked together on Apple TV+’s The Changeling.

“Anyone who’s seen Sam on stage shape shift with his whole body and voice from heart-wrenchingly tender to fantastically ferocious knows that he is a truly, magnetic, performer,” said Van Tulleken in a statement. “This was no small reason why he was cast for a role in The Changeling where he plays a complex character who appears to be one thing whilst actually another. It was a role that would be no easy task for even the most seasoned actor but Sam, applying all his stagecraft, charisma, smarts, and natural empathy, absolutely nailed it producing a riveting performance. I loved working with someone who came to acting via this persona they had built in their music. To then get to collaborate on a music video with the band was a delight especially one which explores that duality of light and dark literally and metaphorically. Finding that same captivating, haunting, performance but this time with the track as script.”

You can see the video for “The Tower” above and the People Who Aren’t There Anymore album cover art and tracklist below.

Puma Unveiled A New ‘Toxic’ Colorway Of LaMelo Ball’s MB.03

LaMelo Ball is getting set for his fourth season in the NBA, as he looks to get back to the form that made him an All-Star in 2021-22 and had the Hornets in the Play-In Tournament.

Last season was mostly a lost one for the young star guard, as he battled and injured ankle on and off all year before finally having to shut it down for the season, but in the 36 games he was on the court he produced at an even higher level than he had in his All-Star campaign. Ball averaged 23.3 points, 8.4 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game in those 36 appearances, and will look to continue his growth into being one of the league’s most exciting offensive playmakers this year.

This is also LaMelo’s third season with a signature shoe from Puma, as his MB.03 launched earlier this fall, and the brand will introduce a new “Toxic” colorway this Friday (October 27) for the first week of the NBA season.

The MB.03 retails for $125 and there are few signature sneakers with a more unique look than LaMelo’s shoe, as he steers into his in your face style, both with how he plays on the court and how he dresses off of it.

John Oliver Opened Up About Getting Booed At A Sesame Street Gala (!!), All Because He Trashed Bank Of America

John Oliver has made many enemies over the years. The rich and powerful certainly don’t like him, nor does Law and Order, and nor does the former mayor of Danbury, Connecticut. (Long story!) But surely those attending a gala for Sesame Street wouldn’t boo HBO’s most critical staffer. Right? Think again.

Per The Daily Beast, on Monday Oliver went on Late Night with Seth Meyers, during which he told the tale of his unexpectedly disastrous stint at this year’s Sesame Workshop Benefit Gala. Oliver is a guest at the event every year, and he assumed this time would be as “nice” as it always is. He was in for a rude awakening after he enraged the crowd.

“And I want you to think about how hard it is to make that happen,” Oliver joked. “The theme of the evening is kindness. That’s not easy to do.”

The problem, in Oliver’s eyes, is that the gala had a dodgy sponsor: Bank fo America. They even gave a “nonsense award” to one of its executives, who told the crowd (in Oliver’s telling), “I’ve been thinking about how appropriate it is that Bank of America and Sesame Street have teamed up tonight because we are two organizations built on kindness.”

That set Oliver off. “I snapped,” he said, fuming that an exec at the famously predatory bank would talk of being good to people. “And I walked out, and I said, ‘It’s been odd to hear talk of kindness from Bank of America, an institution that had the highest foreclosure rates since over the last 10 years.”

Instead of righteous applause, Oliver got boos. “Oh, that’s the opposite of the reaction in the room,” Oliver recalled thinking. “And the worst thing, the thing that has imprinted itself on my memory […] is Bert looking up at me with such disappointment in his eyes. Just ‘Why are you like this?’”

Oliver then looked directly into the camera, saying, “Sesame Street, have me back. I’ll be a good boy this time.”

You can watch Oliver’s Late Night appearance in the video above.

Charles Barkley Is Glad The NBA Did Something About Load Management

Charles Barkley has long been a critic of NBA players sitting out games due to load management. Unsurprisingly, when the topic came up on Tuesday night ahead of the start of the NBA season, Barkley made clear that he’s incredibly happy that the league did something about it.

Barkley and the rest of the TNT crew were visited by Adam Silver in the lead-up to the Denver Nuggets’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers. When the topic of the league’s new rules about players missing games without injuries popped up, Barkley made clear that he believes players should play so long as they don’t have an injury.

“I’m talking to the players,” Barkley said. “Man, forget the ownership, forget the fans. As a player, if you’re gonna make $50-60 million a year to play basketball three or four days a week, play basketball, man. Now, if you’re injured, don’t play. But everybody hurts after the first two weeks of the season — your legs sore, knee sore. If you’re injured, I don’t want you to play.

“But the notion that, number one, bless these guys,” he continued. “You’re making $30, $40, $50 million to play basketball four days a week, y’all got the best shoes, you got the best medical staff, you got these guys sleeping in chambers, you’ve got ice baths. Man, if you can play, shut the hell up and play.”

The NBA made a concerted effort to address load management this offseason, as it upped the penalties for players missing games on national TV and multiple stars sitting out the same game. In conjunction with all of this, the league claimed it had evidence that the practice of load management is not effective.

What Is Netflix’s ‘Leave The World Behind’ Based On?

Netflix has been doing better lately, which is good news because they’re still shelling out big bucks for movies that don’t get wide theatrical releases. One of them is Leave the World Behind, a timely apocalyptic thriller starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, and Mahershala Ali. Perhaps the title sounds familiar. If it does that’s because it’s based on a novel about societal breakdown that dropped at the height of the pandemic.

Released in early October 2020, the book of the same name was written by Rumaan Alam. Like the movie, it concerns an affluent white Brooklyn couple crashing at a swanky Long Island Airbnb. Then the house’s Black owners show up, prompting some racial tension on the part of the liberal guilt-plauged white protagonists. Then it’s revealed that there’s some end-of-world transpirings afoot.

There is at least one major difference between the book and movie. In Alam’s source, the house’s owners are an older couple. In the film, the man, played by two-time Oscar-winner Ali, is around the same age as Roberts and Hawke’s marrieds. Instead of Ali’s character being joined by his wife, he’s with his daughter, played by Industry’s Myha’la.

Leave the World Behind — which on top of being a timely doomsday entertainment also comes from the Obamas-founded production company Higher Ground — hits Netflix’s coffers on November 22. You can watch the trailer above.
