Tom Hardy seldom misses, and it sure doesn’t hurt that he’s starring in a Guy Ritchie series that also boasts Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine. Together in Paramount Plus‘ MobLand, they will bring Ritchie’s latest mobster story to life with Brosnan and Mirren standing at the apex of a crime family and Hardy stepping up as the “fixer.”
It’s a role that he was born to portray, although to be fair, the same thing could be said for most Tom Hardy roles. He will also soon be seen in Netflix’s Havoc on the other side of the law, but we’re here to wonder exactly how much gangster-Hardy we will be seeing in Ritchie’s series that began streaming (weekly) on March 30.
How Many Episodes Are In Tom Hardy’s MobLand Season 1?
10 episodes. And surely, nobody can complain about a “longer” streaming season with a show like this.
Hardy recently told JoBlo about how he was down to participate in Ritchie’s “signature brand,” and he enjoyed the family dynamic of the series, too. As for why he hopped onto the small screen, Hardy doesn’t seem opposed to a 10-episode season, either: “In longform storytelling, there’s more opportunity to develop a character, as opposed to the brief window that we get in a movie.”

In just a couple of days, J. Cole and the Dreamville crew will open the doors to kick off what will be the fifth and finalDreamville Festival. The mostly annual showcase, which missed two years duo to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021, grew to be a family affair between the Dreamville family, their die-hard fans, and the team’s favorite artists in a given year. Through five festivals over seven years, Dreamville Festival became the destination for the perfect festival experience: great music, great food, great events, and great energy all surrounded by great people who love music just as much as the person standing next to them in the crowd.
Since its inception in 2019, Dreamville Festival has produced many moments that will forever define its legacy. Many of them feature J. Cole in some capacity, but others are from Dreamville signees and artists from outside the Dreamville bubble who understood the assignment for the festival. So, as we prepare to say goodbye to Dreamville’s beloved festival, let’s take a trip through the past and look back at the most viral moments from Dreamville’s five festivals.
J. Cole’s Performs “Love Yourz” As A Nipsey Hussle Tribute (2019)
The second-ever Dreamville Festival was supposed to be a celebratory affair for hip-hop and music altogether, but just days prior, tragedy struck with the tragic death of Nipsey Hussle. At the 2019 Dreamville Festival, Cole performed his 2014 Forest Hills Drive standout “Love Yourz” as tribute to Nipsey. “I gotta take time on stage and acknowledge someone who had a huge impact on the community, on the f*ckin’ world,” he said on stage before performing the record as images and videos of Nipsey shined on a screen behind Cole. It was later revealed that Cole and Nipsey were planning to collaborate at some point in 2019.
DJ Drama’s Gangsta Grillz Mixtape Celebration With Lil Wayne, Jeezy, And T.I. (2022)
In 2022, DJ Drama and the Dreamville team connected for the surprise D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape which spawned the fan-favorite “Stick” and other highlights like J. Cole’s “Heavens EP.” DJ Drama would get to spotlight his Gangsta Grillz mixtape series just days later at the 2022 Dreamville Festival with a setlist that included guest appearances from Lil Wayne, Jeezy, and T.I. for a classic southern rap set. Having Lil Wayne and T.I. on stage at the same time was a big moment as they had beef dating back to 2016 following T.I. taking issue with Wanye’s comments about the Black Lives Matter movement. Despite that, it was no hard feelings onstage between the rappers. “Shout out to the motherf*ckin’ King T.I. you already know what it is,” Weezy said on stage. “That’s my real motherf*ckin’ brother right there. That’s my motherf*ckin’ daughter’s uncle, y’all don’t even understand, man.”
JID’s First Performance Of “Stick” (2022)
Dreamville’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape produced a massive hit with JID and J. Cole’s “Stick” featuring Kenny Mason and Sheck Wes. Truthfully, Dreamville’s head honcho wasn’t needed for the record, as JID and Kenny Mason bring all the required energy and chaos for this raucous track. Released just days before the 2022 Dreamville Festival, JID delivered his first live performance of the song, and the exchange of energy between the Atlanta rapper and the crowd was incredible. Mosh pits erupted in all corners of the crowd as fans just had to go wild and let loose as the song blared from the stage.
J. Cole And Drake’s Co-Headlining Set (2023)
While J. Cole and Drake’s friendship goes back to the late 2000s, fans didn’t get to see it live heavily in the public eye until 2023. It was highlighted by their “First Person Shooter” collaboration that arrived that fall, but months prior, Drake and Cole put on the show of a lifetime when they co-headlined the final set of the 2023 Dreamville Festival. Drake performed smash hits like “Sicko Mode,” “God’s Plan,” and “Nonstop,” favorites like “Know Yourself,” “Marvin’s Room,” and “Headlines.” They also brought out GloRilla, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Cole, on the other hand, brought out his Dreamville labelmates to grace the stage with him and performed records like “G.O.M.D,” “Love Yourz,” “A Lot,” and “No Role Modelz.”
Usher’s Beyoncé April Fool’s Prank (2023)
Dreamville Fest fell on April Fool’s Day in 2023, so it was only right that someone took advantage of the comedic holiday for entertainment purposes, right? Correct! That person would be Usher, who decided to use his headlining set on day one to momentarily trick the crowd into thinking that he brought out Beyoncé as a guest for the night. “Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, put your hands together for the one, the only — Beyoncé,” Usher said before mischievously saying, “April Fools.” The prank got a good laugh from fans in attendance and at home, making for a moment that added to a great set from Usher led by performances of “Lovers And Friends,” “My Boo,” “You Make Me Wanna…”, and “Yeah!”
J. Cole’s Star-Studded Headlining Set With Lil Yachty, Central Cee, Lil Durk, 6lack & More (2024)
The 2024 Dreamville Festival will always be remembered for reasons that have nothing to do with music. We’ll get into that in a second, but first, there was a performance worth remembering from last year’s festival — that being J. Cole’s headlining set. As Dreamville’s lead artist, it’s important that the label’s annual showcase go out with a bang and Cole decided that the way to ensure that in 2024 was by highlighting the many epic collaborations in his career. That’s why he resurfaced collaborations with the likes of Jeremih (“Planez”), 6lack, (“Pretty Little Fears”), Benny the Butcher (“Johnny P’s Caddy”), Lil Yachty (“The Secret Recipe”), Central Cee (“H.Y.B.”), Lil Durk (“All My Life”), and more. Cole’s set was a beautiful presentation of selflessness and one that should’ve been the most memorable moment of the night.
J. Cole’s Apology To Fans And Exit From Potential Kendrick Beef (2024)
J. Cole’s beautifully constructed closing set for the 2024 Dreamville Festival was sidetracked by what many, including myself, thought was an incredibly shocking move. In a moment of honesty, Cole apologized to his fans for his decision to respond to Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” diss with one of his own — that being “7 Minute Drill.” In a moment of reflection, Cole called the record “the lamest sh*t I did in my f*ckin’ life.” He added, “I pray that God will line me back up on my purpose and on my path.” Cole’s surprise apology to both fans and Kendrick Lamar concluded with a promise to remove “7 Minute Drill” from streaming services (which he fulfilled soon after) and a performance of “Love Yourz” as a reminder of the mindset he aims to keep at all times as a musician.

Paramount+’s investment in the dark side of humanity is yielding so much more Dexter. The Original Sin spin off has been renewed, and a Trinity Killer prequel series is also in the works. That’s not all, of course. This year, Michael C. Hall will be back in the full flesh (after monologuing for Original Sin and spending a few seconds onscreen) in Dexter: Resurrection, which will follow up on his inexplicable survival of two series finales.
Dude not only sailed directly into a hurricane in Dexter but also instructed Harrison on where to shoot him in New Blood with Showtime chief Gary Levine calling that finale “a profoundly powerful conclusion to our beloved and extraordinary series.” That somehow didn’t stop Dexter Morgan coming back again, so let’s cut through what we can expect for Resurrection‘s liftoff.
Cast
It’s a lot.
Each season in the Dexter franchise generally involves a Big Bad, and the plethora of casting tidbits encourages speculation about who could fill that role for Resurrection‘s first season. This sequel series is unloading an enormous cast full of TV heavy hitters, and everybody is… a suspect.
For example, Peter Dinklage’s role should, at minimum, be connected to whomever is the ultimate new villain. The Game of Thrones star will step into the shoes of “Leon Prater, a billionaire venture capitalist,” who presents himself as “a generous philanthropist, but behind his polished exterior lies dark intrigue.” Please let him be a fancy murderer.
On an equally promising note, Krysten Ritter will portray a recurring character, “Mia Lapierre, a renowned sommelier who may be hiding a serial killer secret.” Ritter was seen filming in NYC with Hall, and David Dastmalchian is also onboard as “Gareth” and posed for a “goth fam” photo with Ritter before being snapped on set with Hall’s Dexter… who is wearing a killer suit? Oh please.
Then Neil Patrick Harris signed on for an undisclosed role (maybe for some Gone Girl vibes? hmm), because the casting drip-drip news keeps happening, Modern Familyactor Eric Stonestreet is in, too.
Showtime
As already mentioned, Michael C. Hall will be back after Patrick Gibson performed as a fine young serial killer in Original Son, where Dex crafted his Code. The series will include multiple other returning characters, including Dexter’s son, Harrison, who returned as a young adult in New Blood and will still be portrayed by Jack Alcott. He, too, has a Dark Passenger although it appears that he blocked that treadmill trauma. If Dexter: Resurrection refuses to follow up on that important moment in franchise history, then it. is. on.
Other sure things include Miami PD’s Angel Batista (David Zayas, after James Martinez picked up the earlier Angel in Original Sin) after he surfaced in New Blood. James Remar is back as Harry Morgan, the late adoptive father to Dexter in either ghost and/or flashback form, but Jennifer Carpenter is not returning as Ghost Deb after haunting Dexter in New Blood, and she told People, “I hope that they’re having a wonderful time.”
And on a “huh?” note, John Lithgow will come back as the Trinity Killer. That doesn’t seem possible, given the whole “hammer”-wielding thing on Dexter’s behalf, but Lithgow admitted, “I just went back to do a day,” and “it turns out he didn’t die after all. I come back sort of as a phantom, as he gradually comes to life on a hospital bed.” Alright.
Plot
Showtime
The show looks to be location hopping with filming taking place in both NYC, where Dex is apparently focused now, and in Miami, where Angel Batista might be brewing up PD plans.
Meanwhile, showrunner Clyde Phillips has done an amazing job (no joke) of revealing virtually nothing about the Dexter: Resurrection plot while being quizzed this month about the Original Sin season finale. We do know, however, that Dexter was saved from bleeding out in the snow by the cold temperature itself, and this sequel series should pick up shortly after Original Sin and take place in present time.
As for logistics? Who knows. Dexter was rushed in for surgery, so presumably, he will manage to weasel his way out of custody and flee to new surroundings. He also will have a rough time getting cozy with law enforcement as he did in New Blood since his cover has been blown. Additionally, New Blood revealed that Yvonne Strahovski’s Hannah had passed away, so that rules out a handy international link for escape, but Dexter always manages to find a new way, like life in Jurassic Park.
One thing is certain, which is that Michael C. Hall remains tickled by how this franchise (which also found new viewers via Netflix) keeps finding new life, and he suggested that Dexter’s appeal could be down to viewers craving a character “who’s taking his own, unique control of his little corner of the world. I think we all have our shadow side that we contend with and Dexter’s is obviously a little weightier than most.” He added, “People enjoy spending time with someone who is doing his best to take responsibility for that side in his sort of outside-the-box way and morally grey way … maybe contending with it in a way that is arguably admirable — even though he’s doing what he’s doing.”
Filming began on January 17, as Hall revealed in a social media video post.
Release Date
Dexter doesn’t have to worry about taking several months of post-production for visual effects, so even though the reboot is still currently shooting, Paramount promised Summer 2025 in the below video with Hall impishly inquiring, “Did you miss me?”
Trailer
Since we discussed the infamous treadmill scene, the following display (OW OW) can fill in for a trailer:
Each week our staff of film and television experts surveys the entertainment landscape to select the ten best new/newish shows available for you to stream at home. We put a lot of thought into our selections, and our debates on what to include and what not to include can sometimes get a little heated and feelings may get hurt, but so be it, this is an important service for you, our readers. With that said, here are our selections for this week.
15. Common Side Effects (Max)
adult swim
Mike Judge and Greg Daniels have been attached to some of the best TV comedies of the last 30 years, including Parks and Recreation, The Simpsons, and The Office for Daniels and Beavis and Butt-Head and Silicon Valley for Judge. They also co-created King of the Hill. Their latest collaboration is producing Common Side Effects, a surreal Adult Swim animated series about the “world’s greatest medicine” from creators Joseph Bennett (Scavengers Reign) and Steve Hely (30 Rock). Episodes will stream the next day on Max.
Hulu’s Deli Boys is a crime-comedy about a pair of pampered Pakistani-American brothers who lose everything following their father’s sudden death and are forced to reckon with his secret life of misdeeds as they try to take up his mantle in the underworld. The cast includes Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, and Poorna Jagannathan.
Colman Domingo, one of the finest actors of his generation, got a well-deserved Oscar nomination for his performance in Sing Sing. The heartbreaking but hopeful film follows Divine G (Domingo), who is imprisoned at Sing Sing Correctional Facility for a crime he didn’t commit. He finds purpose by acting in a theatre group with other incarcerated men, many of whom are played by formerly imprisoned actors.
The latest Shondaland production is The Residence, a screwball comedy starring Uzo Aduba as a detective who is tasked with solving a murder at The White House. “The Residence is a different take and spin on the house that we all know — it’s a peek inside a world that we don’t often get to see,” the Orange Is A New Black actress said. “The show begs the question, ‘Who runs the house?’ And the answer is not what we think it is.”
Celebrate the streaming premiere of Wicked — the Oscar-winning movie musical starring Ariana Grande and the wickedly talented Adele Dazeem, I mean, Cynthia Erivo — by learning all about the “wicked witch of the east, bro” viral video. Or reading about Grande’s long (yellow brick) road to playing Galinda. If you’re going to defy gravity, though, do that on your time.
Nicole Kidman is in so many streaming shows that it feels like a treat when she returns to her roots as a Movie Star. In Holland, she plays Nancy Vandergroot, who has a seemingly picture-perfect life with her husband (Matthew Macfadyen) and son (Jude Hill). But she begins to suspect something is amiss. The thriller is directed by Mimi Cave in her first film since 2022’s Fresh.
Michelle Buteau’s romantic-comedy series Survival of the Thickest returns for season 2. The ensemble cast of the “love letter to New York” includes Buteau, Tone Bell, Tasha Smith, Marouane Zotti, Peppermint, Garcelle Beauvais, Anthony Michael Lopez, and Liza Treyger, along with guest stars Anderson .Paak, Deon Cole, Tika Sumpter, Monét X Change, Honey Balenciaga, Sandra Bernhard, and Bevy Smith.
Timothée Chalamet nearly won an Oscar for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. But he won my heart for his answer when I asked him to name his favorite Dylan song. “It changes every day,” he said. “Today, I’ll say ‘Outlaw Blues,’ because, I could be wrong, I’m sure I’m wrong, but it’s been very hard for me to ever find a live version of him doing ‘Outlaw Blues.’ And it’s also, conversely, one of the Dylan tracks from that period that has a crazy kick to it and a crazy energy. And to me, one of the underrated songs of that time period.” You can read the rest of the interview here.
The White Lotus returns with a new location (Thailand) and a new group of talented actors playing emotionally- and spiritually-empty rich folks. The cast includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Blackpink’s Lisa, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood. “I do feel like the other seasons were a rehearsal for this one,” creator Mike White teased.
The first thing you should know about The Studio is that there’s diarrhea zombies. The second thing to know about The Studio is that the diarrhea zombies are actually from a fake movie within the show, an industry satire starring Seth Rogen. His character, Matt, is tasked with saving Continental Studios in an ever-changing industry. The stacked cast also includes Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, Rebecca Hall, Olivia Wilde, Chase Sui Wonders, Catherine O’Hara, and Bryan Cranston. The Studio is one of the funniest shows of 2025.
Willa Fitzgerald has been around for a few years (shout out to MTV’s Scream), but she got a long-overdue movie star-making role in last year’s thrilling and disturbing Strange Darling. She’s also the lead in Pulse, Netflix’s first medical drama. Created by Zoe Robyn, it’s about a third-year resident, Dr. Danny Simms (Fitzgerald), who “juggles mounting relationship tensions alongside the high stakes of working in an emergency room in Miami — including the threat of a hurricane.” It’s a nice accompaniment to The Pitt.
Shinichirō Watanabe directed one of the greatest anime series of all-time in Cowboy Bebop. His latest project (which he created) is Adult Swim’s Lazarus, a thriller about a so-called miracle drug, Hapna. However, it’s later discovered that there’s a deadly side effect: anyone who has taken Hapna will die. It’s up to a task force of agents to create a vaccine in only 30 days.
Kevin Bacon? As a murdered bounty hunter? Who’s brought back to life by the Devil? To kill demons and bring them back to Hell? Yeah, that’ll do. The Bondsman also features Jennifer Nettles (Aimee-Leigh from The Righteous Gemstones!) and Damon Herriman (Dewey Crowe from Justified!) as well as Beth Grant, Maxwell Jenkins, and Jolene Purdy.
Based on one of the best non-fiction podcasts of 2020, Dying for Sex follows Molly Kochan (played by the always-great Michelle Williams) who decides to leave her husband (Jay Duplass) after being diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer in order to explore her sexual desires for the first time. She’s joined on her journey of exploration by her best friend Nikki (Jenny Slate). The heart-tugging comedy-drama series was created by Kim Rosenstock and Elizabeth Meriwether, who also created New Girl.
Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey impressed with her 2023 album Bewitched (and the subsequent deluxe edition), but now, a new era is here: Today (April 3), she shared a video for a new single, “Silver Lining.”
Laufey says of the song, “‘Silver Lining’ is a love song about being able to set your true personality free when you fall in love. Your inner child comes out and you are emboldened by lust. Even if it takes you to hell, at least you’re with your partner.”
Laufey hasn’t announced a new album, but a press release notes the song is “the first taste of what marks a new Laufey era.”
This comes shortly after Laufey was in the news for a couple different reasons. First, she was part of Zach Braff’s all-star Garden State anniversary concert. Then, a billboard appeared in the California desert, saying, “Still struggling with my name? Visit saylaufey.com to learn.” The website includes a clip of Laufey explaining her name’s pronunciation on The Graham Norton Show. (A press release writes out the pronunciation as “lay-vay.”)

No, really, that’s the name of her biggest headlining tour to date: the “Yippee-Ki-Yay” singer, who is releasing a new album soon, is hitting the road with newly-reunited Scissor Sisters beginning this July on The Tits Out Tour.
Slayyyter and Rose Graywill will join as support on select dates.
“The most political thing we can do right now is love,” Kesha wrote in a statement. “Love ourselves and love each other. Americans need to have more safe, consensual sex. Our administration is so disembodied and disconnected. I’m going TITS OUT this summer to bring as much safety, fun, acceptance, love, connection, and celebration to this country because we are just as much the fabric of this FREE nation as anyone else.”
She continued:
“I’m committed to bringing my newfound freedom to a city near you. A celebration is in order. I have partnered with Feeld, a dating app for open-minded people, in order to bring our sexually liberated selves and give us a place to flirt, meet, connect, and dance. Color-coded options will be available soon, but this summer wear RED if you are single, horny, and down to flirt! Let’s fight chaos with love, so let’s see how much love we can bring to the summer of 2025. And along the way, I’m looking for a sugar daddy, so if you bring a tall, hot, single friend, you get extra animal points. Let’s help each other find some love and connection this summer. Let’s go tits out!”
Access to pre-sale tickets for The Tits Out Tour begins Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. local time. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week, and all remaining tickets will be available through a general on-sale on Thursday, April 10 at 10 a.m. local time. You can find more information here.

The 14-time world champion talked to NME about what she listens to while training, including the “Bigger In Texas” rapper. “Megan Thee Stallion got me through the summer,” she said.
One of Megan Thee Stallion’s songs, “Neva Play” featuring RM of BTS, is even the theme song for WWE SmackDown. Flair takes some credit for that. “I had just done a post with one of the new Megan Thee Stallion songs, and then they used it for SmackDown,” she said. “And I was like, ‘Oh, can I just DM her and be like, ‘Will you come out with me for my entrance?’” Flair added, “Megan, two queens side by side. Let’s make it happen, please.”
Unfortunately, Meg might be too busy. She’s focused on “ACT 3,” which she promised will be revealed in 2025 — hopefully with a feature from Doechii. “I see Doechii, b*tch, I love Doechii,” she said during a recent livestream with fans. “I do wanna do a song with Doechii. That is on my album wishlist.”
As for Flair, she’s getting ready for WrestleMania 41, where she’ll face Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship. The Super Bowl of wrestling goes down from April 19 to 20 in Las Vegas.
Last year, Ice Spice faced rumors that she and Central Cee were an item. But, last summer, she declared she was single and said of Cee, “We’ve been friends since ‘Munch’ came out, honestly. We’re just twins.”
Now, there’s another dating rumor, and this time, she doesn’t appear to be hiding from it.
On Instagram a few days ago, New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner shared photos of him in NYC, and featured in a few of the snaps is Ice. The rapper herself chimed in, commenting a “1” (Gardner’s jersey number) on the post.
Beyond this post, neither Gardner nor Ice have publicly commented about their potential relationship yet.
This comes after Ice had a bit of a rocky finish to 2024, when she showed up late to a New Year’s Eve festival set and only ended up performing for five minutes. Ice later explained, “I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me. It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie.”
2025 has been better so far, though. Last month, she teased a new song featuring the lyrics, “She got thin, but she went and got thick again / Shawty got back on her oats.”
As part of the lead up to his new album, SABLE, fABLE, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon appeared on Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show. One topic of discussion was “Exile,” his collaboration with “most talented person in the world” Taylor Swift on 2020’s Folklore, and the response it got from Swifties during The Eras Tour.
“Sadly, I didn’t ever get to sing it with her on her tour,” he told host Jimmy Fallon, via Billboard. “But I saw those clips and I’m like, ‘Gosh, they sound better than one of me can sound.’ No really, it was pretty powerful to just see that and to hear how that sounded. It was amazing.”
Vernon also talked about his remix of “I Think About It All The Time” for Charli XCX’s Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat. “My friend Danielle Haim told me, ‘You should sample ‘Nick Of Time,’ the old Bonnie Raitt song and I was like, ‘That’s such a good idea,’ because Charli’s song was about running out of time.” He called Raitt his “number one” favorite artist and “our greatest living singer,” adding that “she’s a huge fan of Charli’s, as am I.”
You can watch Bon Iver on The Tonight Show above.
